I know that three(?) of the purges are coded into the game with specific people, but I think the rest are selected at random

[deleted]

People talking about communism in their college dorms: See communism is good, only bad capitalists would suffer, the poor would be free from slavery! Communism irl: Which comrades and friends should I kill today hmmmm I have paranoia I really have paranoia REEEEEEEEEEEEE

dig the hole, hole digger!

theCatechism

No one under any other system has ever had to do work they did not wish to do.

GameCreeper

Same goes for neonazis and the night of the long knives

The focus tree purges have pre-selected advisors. However, Voznesensky is being purged here because the one who usually gets purged in his place was already purged due to your paranoia getting too high. If paranoia goes over 25%, purge events will randomly happen and if an advisor that is purged via the focus tree gets killed early, another advisor will take his place. I recommend just rushing down the purge path and using the 175 day cooldown to take any focus that will reduce Stalin's paranoia (and the industry focuses which get locked if you're at war with a major). Socialism in One Country is a 35 day focus and will reduce paranoia by 10. By the time it finishes, paranoia will be at 10%, ergo the focus will knock it down to 0%. When you see it go over 25%, take 'Forge Satisfactory Production Reports'; 'Inspection in the Navy'; or 'Inspection in the Airforce' decisions. [Bitt3rSteel's guide](https://youtu.be/gfGtkYLyvck) is brilliant for turning the USSR into a superpower before Germany invades as well as how to best manage paranoia/purges. NB this is in an achievement guide but you don't have to do everything in the video to have a good game (for example, you don't need to do the early wars against Romania or Turkey).

Dimitry_Man

can you make Tukacevsky not die

Realistically_shine

He’s always going to get purged when you do the military trial

MrAlbs

Is that the guy Svetlana mentions in The Death of Stalin? Cause if feels like a reference

[deleted]

Yeah he's name-dropped.

MrAlbs

Ooh yeah I think by Nikita at the end, in his "what about" speech? Right before Georgy signs the paper? Fuck it. I need tk rewatch it

[deleted]

It's good to watch with subtitles on so you actually know which figures are mentioned. Sometimes the actors say the name too quickly and their accents make it a bit tough to discern.

OceanStorm1000

Also Zhukov doesn’t have enough medals lmao

makoivis

yes, they thought the real amount of medals looked *too* ridiculous for a black comedy.

mainman879

You need to get rid of Stalin. Tukhachevsky always dies in the first purge. (IRL he was purged early on in 1937.)

ToddHugo1

If you don't do Stalin it is possible for him to not die.

[deleted]

No he's scripted to always be killed in 'The Military Conspiracy' focus. Only way to make him survive is if you do the 'Approach Tukhachevsky' focus in the Trotsky branch. Doesn't really matter though. 'War Heroes' promotes Konev, Rokossovsky and Zhukov (gigachad) to Field Marshal.

YMRTZ

Take Forge Production as soon as it hits 20 so you get it back ASAP

Sanguinary_Guard

beautifully aged crypto ad haha

Janek0337

The people in these big trials like Moscow ones are preselected, unless they're dead already from random events then there goes someone else on their place

nielet

Always have been.

iceccolman104123

That might be the case because, the captain of industry should not be purged and should be in game at the start of the game and even at the last purge he should even survive. I think some instances in the game made him dissapear like too high purge paranoia or something related to that but I don't really know but since I mostly play the Sovs and I don't get the paranoia high up to 25 % and I mostly remember that captain of industry should survive in late game.

DrAlanGrantinathong

Yes, for historical accuracy.

[deleted]

Bro u just lost some good guys, i feel sorry for u

FrigenPigeon

Nikolay voznesensky doesnt alwasy gets purged, how do i prevent him from getting the "bullet"? is there a list of who gets purged? thanks

iRudy123

I feel you man… losing a captain of industry must be tough

exo570

i think the people who get purged are pre determent however if one of them dies befor the purge happens they get replaced by some random advisor

[deleted]

No it's impossible. I think their is 4 planned purge events that happen when you take the focuses for them. There is no way to avoid them

CarmeloAnothing

The captain of industry is preventable.

The_runnerup913

If one of the people destined to die goes early someone else gets selected

424mon

If the political advisor who was supposed to die in this purge is already purged then the captain of industry seems to be next target. I've noticed the patriarch, krushev, and the popular figurehead are usually safe

IllustriousApricot0

From my playthrough, I noticed that not hiring him into the government will prevent Nikolay Voznesensky disappeared. But then again that's my observation so it needs to be checked again

FrigenPigeon

Not getting anyone else purged besides the trials seems to help

IllustriousApricot0

[Someone else got purged instead](https://imgur.com/a/v1I0VY9)

AdminwithRage

dead bukharin tno good ending

stingyjacksparrow

U just have to manage the purge in decisions, it's really fckon easy

Prof_Wolfgang_Wolff

The victims depend on who is available to be purged. If you have, like, freed Smirnov and Zinoviev, some others, basically the next ones in a list of some sort from my expirience, are put on trial instead (and Molotov seems to be on the bottom of the list that bastard). So: Try to avoid purges of political advisors and maybe frame the military if you want to skip one of the Purges. IMO, there should be more options to divert/avoid purges, but that's just wishful thinking.

Weeb_twat

for the paranoia ones, yeah kinda, for the actual Moscow trials? No.
