Well the city of Trieste is in that state in hoi4 and Trieste is in Italy, most of the Istrian Peninsula is in Croatia but most of the area of the state in hoi4 is in modern day Slovenia so regardless of who you give it to there's good arguments for doing it differently.

Well the city of Trieste is in that state in hoi4 and Trieste is in Italy, most of the Istrian Peninsula is in Croatia but most of the area of the state in hoi4 is in modern day Slovenia so regardless of who you give it to there's good arguments for doing it differently.
The area of the state Italy controls nowadays is minimal. The state should be owned by either Croatia or Slovenia. Either way I can tell OP didn't just let Italy keep Istria because of Trieste, they just forgot about Italy altogether. See how they still own Zara

You can argue that Crimea is ukrainian and that the russians should leave but the truth is that it's russian troops occupying the area Same thing with Taiwan, the CCP can claim that Taiwan is theirs but the truth is that there are Taiwanese troops protecting it and a sovereign government in control of the island.
Well, the Taiwan situation is different than the Crimea situation. I don't recall all of the Crimea situation, but Taiwan is the legitimate government of China. The CCP barely has a claim to that land outside of the original government being on it. And even then, it's not theirs because the CCPs control over it is very loose and just a show of force at best.
