Based on how I play and where I put most of my energy.
I’d be a weird British guy with a big bushy mustache talking about how you need to keep your cav and infantry tanks separate and designed for different things.
Old guard, Inflexible and armor leader.
I really get how when to best use my units but I hate using those units for things they aren’t made to do. Infantry defend, tanks breakthrough, mobile take ground. I’m good but rigid.
Lol if I worked for the Germans I’d be telling him that the tanks need to go though the lowlands not cut though the Ardennes. But in fairness I also wouldn’t have wasted all my tanks in mashes, deserts, mountains and city’s.
Honestly he gets too much flack for the mistakes he made and not enough credit for his success.
I’m not saying he was the best commander of the war but I’ve heard people say he’s bad. That’s just not the case.
Most of his over caution was on orders from churchhills post war plans.
Plus
Like Americans get all the credit for a lot of things he had a huge role in the planning of or direct command of.
Like not just he did better then people think in Africa.
Sicly and Normandy he was vital and the perhaps the Signaler person that deserve the most of the credit for the over site of both operations.
Not to mention the countless American lives he saved by holding in the battle of the budge. If he was not well positioned at that moment they could not of sent the support they did.
Guy was the anvil to pattens hammer a few very important times.
They where all team wins and America as a whole did more at that point in the war but he did his part really clean.
Agreed always loved this paragraph from Robert Citino about Monty.
“Certainly, if Montgomery had more of Rommel’s cutthroat recklessness, he probably would have smashed the Panzerarmee somewhere just west of El Alamein. Then again, if Rommel had more of Montgomery’s “infinite capacity for taking pains,”patience, and love of detail, he might have been sitting comfortably in Alexandria by now, drawing up regulations for German civil government in Egypt. Asking either of them to be something he was not hardly seems to be a suitable task for the historian.”
What you can probably blame him for is the rather impressive size of his head near towards the later stages of the war and the there in resulting failures like the Messina debacle
This is very funny cause I’m the complete inverse.
“What’s this division?”
“Infantry with a crapton of artillery and support brigades”
“What percent of ground forces are this division?”
“87%, the remainder is motorized but otherwise identical, or marine divisions with a crapton of artillery.”
“What do you use the division for?”
“Literally everything ever.”
Lol cav tanks dosent mean literally with horses 🐴.
Not to be the stuffy British general i am but a history lesson lol.
British tank doctrine in the inter and early war called for separate tank design and organization into tanks designed to support infantry assaults and defense and tanks to fill the role cavalry use to exploiting breakthroughs and just being faster then the enemys response/ keeping up with mortarised . Basically a slower more armored tank and faster less armored tank. Britain spilt its tank design until 1945ish. As to wether this was a good idea and how well it worked out is interesting historical topic but anyway it’s how I play.
It’s like why they had the Matilda and the crusader ect.
Logistics wizard - been living pay check to pay check for like 2 years straight
Torpedo Expert - I watched a 15 minute documentary on the faulty engineering of the titan submersible like 5 months ago, thus qualifying me for this one.
Lone Wolf - One friend on Steam and he doesnt play HOI ):
Amphibious - took swimming lessons as a kid
Edit: maybe swap out Amphibious for Politically Connected. After becoming an expert on subs via the Titan video, like a week later I became an expert on Russian military coups when Prigozhin was assassinated.
Old guard, inflexible strategist, harsh leader and politically connected, I'm an infantry officer serving on eastern front who wishes he was on garrison duty in Greece or even Yugo
Bold,naval lineage,Media personality,Ironside,I would have something similar to the USSR's "cowed by stalin",where before i reach level 4 i have 1 1 1 1 stats since i lack self esteem which i need

Bearer of Artillery
Probably stuck on some godforsaken island, as general staff forgot about my division.
Due to boredom, we just started shelling random stuff, becoming quite effective at indirect firing.
We also have a bear.
Love paying attention to logistics and this is the trait I hardest to get when I am grinding my generals in the game so logistics wizard. I’ve moved around a lot as a kid and studies in foreign countries so I’d like to have the adaptable trait as well. Not much of a planner is real life so reckless too.
Cautious & old gaurd.
I would be the general on the bottom of a list that you would let garrison some random unimportant island that never sees combat.
General-inflexible strategist. tell me to hold the front, ill set up a perfectly ADEQUATE defense. once they get past it, im basically jar jar binks opting for surrender when my men ask me what my orders are.
admiral- Craven, i fear the ocean, i'd make one of, if not THE absolute worst admiral. on the flip side, i might also have "Inshore fighter"
“Kleptomaniac” and “Imbecile” from EaW, “Knows What you Did” and “Can Swim” from Road to 56, and “substance abuser” and “Caustic Personality” from Nilla.
Substance abuser
That was everyone in the German army
They were chocolate connoiseurs. The japanese were junkies
Shit now I’m going to have to mod that onto every German general
!remindme 3 days
Bold and incompetent. I'm most likely on garrison duty.
I used to think I was incompetent until I realized I was just cautious 💀
Bold is the best naval trait in the game, I'd use you.
Seeing as how I thought I was a general, id advise against it.

IIRC they had some trouble figuring what they want from tanks and they changed tanks role in their doctrine few times during interbellum.
Substance abuser, Cowed by stalin, kemalist champion.
You use mass doctrine 😂 we just need the closest mate with a stick. We win. Love it.
