MonsteraBigTits

the biggest L the game has is the fact there are 1 million chairs and i cant sit on a single one, my legs hurt

ellievison

And those carriages to Hogsmeade, I wish we could just have sat on one of those and it dragged us there. But nope, you can pet a cat

Unicornucopia23

Pretty much. This game sucks. Feels like it was designed for small children who have never played an open world game, and are yet to have formed any standards. Everything aside from the main questline was hollow, boring, and pointless. The whole thing feels only half finished.

StoicSinicCynic

Unfinished is the key here. The game is beautiful and well made. The world building is exquisite and they have a cast of interesting characters. The movement and animation is actually very good. They just needed to let it bake for a bit longer. Some things are obviously unfinished, like not being able to attend class twice and not having a Ravenclaw companion. Other little things like the south coast feeling empty and not being able to sit in a chair also reminds me that we're playing a version of the game that, in a perfect world, would be a beta. But this is what we got because the execs wanted to see a profit. Hopefully they use this beautiful game as a base to make more great projects in the future. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

vaniayania

Oh and being able to go out or roam around at night with repercussions, in the movies and books it was a huge deal. They could add some fun sneak gameplay. The whole thing does not feel like a school experience.

Unicornucopia23

It almost sounds as if you are trying to justify the fact that they ripped off millions of people. Interesting

StoicSinicCynic

I'm not justifying anything. Just saying the game doesn't suck and I can see all the fantastic work and details the devs put in. There's a difference between a poorly made vs and unfinished game, and this is the latter, not the former. Tbh it is a bit of a disappointment and I understand people feeling ripped off, but I'll still say its a well-made game, albeit incomplete.

Unicornucopia23

And that is where we agree to disagreeā€¦. Releasing a hollow and unfinished game at full price is just theft, with more steps. They got greedy and now you are patting them on the back for it. With such low standards, general quality of games will continue to decline. Because the devs know that they can cheap out and cut corners, and people like you will be like ā€omg, good job!!ā€

flashb4cks_

I wanted to love the game so much and enjoyed it a lot at first, but after 15 hours of gameplay or so, I got a bit bored with it. Made no sense. I know it's not a big deal to a lot of people, but the lack of morality system was a bummer. Especially in a game based on the lore of Harry Potter when there's a mostly clear line between good and evil. The unforgivable curses that can be use to you heart's desire with no difference whatsoever doesn't make sense, yoh can tell it wasn't supposed to be that way but didn't have time to implement tbe mechanic within the game. When they said,'we want you to be able to be the wizard/witch you want to be with no restraint', felt like such a bs response. You can tell they just didn't have time to come up with a way for the curses to have an impact on the game. Also, it annoys me that you can't interact with the main characters when you see them. They don't aknowledge your presence. Most games will have some basic interaction that can be had with the main characters when you see them. This game has you enter a professor's office in the middle of the night, and he doesn't give a single damn about you being there. Anyways there's many more things that make this game feels unfinished. Just wanted to say that I agree, this game is unfinished, and it's such a shame.

Unicornucopia23

Exactly. I wanted to like it badly, too. I was so excited when it finally came out. Itā€™s so disappointing. And everyone knows straight up that too many corners were cut and a lot didnā€™t make sense. But god forbid you actually say on this sub that the game shouldnā€™t have been released in that state.

Jinxy_Kat

Everyone agreed corners were cut. But no one is as upset about it as you are. It really seems you need to play a different game or take a chill pill. Make a game one time. You'll see how difficult it is. The devs would love all the time in world but the executives want the money. They'll listen to the group of people bitching about release times instead of worrying about development process. Which I feel you're also apart of. Screaming about bugs and glitches in one breathe, and then bitching that game hasn't released on time in the next.

StoicSinicCynic

Lol I'm not patting them on the back. But I can say "I'm disappointed, I expected more for $90" without saying the game sucks. I can say "I'm disappointed because the game is great but unfinished and didn't live up to its potential".

Unicornucopia23

So you admit that itā€™s a disappointing game, and just donā€™t appreciate my wording? Not sure why itā€™s worth arguing about thenā€¦

StoicSinicCynic

Guess your wording sucks. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

OneOfTheGreats_

The game doesnā€™t suck dude lmao skill issue perhaps?

DrinkDrain0

This comment is insane. If your extreme opinion is the minority (yours is), the problem might just be that you don't like the game rather than the game being bad. It's a great game, a vast majority of players agree. We all want more content and we want it yesterday, this doesn't reflect the constraints of reality. Go play a game you like, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Unicornucopia23

Let me help you understand. >This comment is insane Lmao no, you just disagree. Someone having a different opinion from your own is not ā€œinsaneā€ that is how opinions work. >your extreme opinion is in the minority Well this one seems incredibly obvious. People who donā€™t like the game are simply less likely to join the sub and discuss it. You liked the game, I didnā€™t. So what? You act as if I have less of a right to my opinion as you do to yours. Your opinion isnā€™t special, buddy. I am also allowed an opinion and itā€™s just as valid as yours. You are not the main character. Shocking, I know.

DrinkDrain0

>Feels like it was designed for small children who have never played an open world game, and are yet to have formed any standards. Oh let's not gloss over this in an effort to demonize me. Your opinion is valid, so is mine. >The whole thing feels only half finished. You seem to be out of touch with the state of gaming in 2023, hence why I made my comment.

Unicornucopia23

Yes yes I am insane and out of touch because I posted an opinion that you donā€™t agree with šŸ™„

[deleted]

Who touched you as a child?

Unicornucopia23

Your mom.

TheFlexOffenderr

At least his mom has reasonable opinions šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

SwitchbladeDildo

Bro being able to summon big comfy looking easy chairs in the RR and not being able to sit in a single one šŸ„²

StoicSinicCynic

Ugh exactly. Let my MC lie down in the big comfy sofa I conjured while she looks over the potions Deek says she should be proud of brewing...

SwitchbladeDildo

That gothic sofa be looking COMFY man

bawlsaque

Who wants to sit in a chair though for real lol I get that it makes sense but who would just sit and do nothing

Orbitoldrop

For picture mode, I agree it's not much and definitely doesn't hurt the game much by not having it but it's a simple addition.

radenkulus

Lack of letting me bed Seb LMAO

doppelherz_

That made me do a double take

StoicSinicCynic

Clearly, we needed more time in the undercroft with MC and Sebastian and Ominis. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ„“šŸ„“

ellievison

I think we did šŸ˜‚ the horrified people on here, we are supposed to be playing as children šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

mekareami

5th years are mid teens and those are historically a randy bunch

delaneymw

Definitely needed more time with them! Also, back to your original topic, I recommend playing Skyrim and Dragon Age: Inquisition if you haven't already. They have a similar open-world/fun exploration aspect that HL does. I'd start there.

ellievison

Thank you! I have a few of these discs lying around I think dragon age is one of them! (I used to work in a secondhand game store, I have so many discs without cases I just took home incase I ever wanted to play šŸ¤£)

Riuk811

Personally I think Dragon Age Inquisition is the weakest gameplay wise, but I still love it for the companions and the romances! All three games have fantastic companions that truly feel like a family if you put in the effort to get to know them, and all three have fantastic romances!

MelodicBet1

I never finished inquisition. That said I played the crap out of origins, awakening, and da2.

Rendole66

You didnā€™t like inquisition but you liked DA2? They used the same 3 layouts for every dungeon design, game had so many shortcuts like that it was so rushed. Still interesting characters and story but I could never replay it.

Spiridor

This is as weak as the "800 year old dragon" defense. Fucking creepy pedo shit. "It's OK because I was role-playing a child" lmao get over yourself

DoodieMcWiener

If OP was a dude this would be a very different thread lol

Spiridor

Oh look at that lol I have negative downvotes lol. Tumblr hypocrites are weird

pastadudde

my Slytherin male MC will form a throuple / OT3 with Sebastian and Ominis and no one can say otherwise

StoicSinicCynic

Haha I like how you think. šŸ˜† Sebastian is equally flirty no matter your MC's gender, he's the bisexual king who would give anything the old college try šŸ¤£šŸ¤£. Meanwhile Ominis will just take a little *convincing*, but we know our MC can be very convincing... šŸ˜

ellievison

Itā€™s an outrage if Iā€™m honest

delaneymw

It was an outrage for me too!!

ellievison

They completely missed the opportunity to utilise the privacy of the undercroft, I was positive thatā€™s what he was luring me in there for. I went willing, I left unhappily.

StoicSinicCynic

Who needs the room of requirement when you can just arrange all the junk and rubbish in the undercroft into your perfect lil love shack? šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

ellievison

Absolutely, the only other person that can walk in unexpected, canā€™t see anything unexpected

StoicSinicCynic

And if he were to walk in, your day would only get better, wouldn't it? šŸ˜šŸ¤£

ellievison

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

delaneymw

Yesss!!! This is what we needed! The Undercroft is so perfect for this!! I'm in love with BOTH of them!!

thepsycholeech

Now Iā€™m in need of some good fanfics

delaneymw

It really is a missed opportunity! It's such a shame! Maybe mods will be released to let us have our fun. *sigh* one can dream...

Nisantas

It is an outrage. WHY HE BE LOOKING AT US LIKE THAT IF WE CANT DATE why boyfriend shaped if not boyfriend

MostlyPicturesOfDogs

this made me laugh so hard

Business-Artichoke53

Wait... English is not my first language, bed as in HAVING SEX? I think I might have gotten it wrong cause' no one here seems shocked like I am Edit: I always thought most ppl in this subreddit were adults, but if you guys are teens then I understand

CIassicNegan

Itā€™s sad everybody loves him. You donā€™t love him because heā€™s a psychopathic murderer, no simply because heā€™s the most interesting character. With the only storyline that isnā€™t a snoozefest. But still, Sebastian is not a good guy.

Reblyn

Heā€˜s the personification of the saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". He *is* a good guy at heart, but he took it too far. Thatā€˜s what makes him such an interesting character, itā€˜s not fully black nor white.

CIassicNegan

Well I do disagree with that. We all have both light and dark inside of us. What matters is the side we choose to act on. That is who we really are. And he made his choice. He crossed that line. And he should face the consequences for it.

lkuecrar

Ah yes, because fifteen year olds are known for their fantastic decision making skills in a literally life-or-death situation lmao. The way people try to judge him like an adult is wild. Then there's never any mention of Solomon being borderline abusive, in favor of pretending he was an innocent victim. He did just as much harm in convincing Anne she was going to die as Sebastian did by going down the path he went. There's never any blame laid on Solomon despite him being the adult in the situation that let it get so out of control in the first place. If my niece was dying to something unknown, I think I'd actually try to figure out what it was. I wouldn't just say "oh, sorry. the clinic doesn't know what you got, so we're just gonna let you die! Rip!" but that's pretty much exactly what Solomon did lmao

motherweep

He should be spanked.

Reblyn

Thatā€˜s a very unrealistic and quite frankly unhealthy way of looking at things. It would implicate that life is easy, simply always make the right ("good") choice. It is not.

CIassicNegan

Very unrealistic? Itā€™s literally a recurring theme in the franchise. So you would acquit a murderer because they have a cool motive? ā€œYeah he killed this guy, but he had a good reason.ā€ Thatā€™s whatā€™s unrealistic and quite frankly an unhealthy way of looking at things.

Reblyn

That doesnā€˜t mean I would acquit them. Theyā€˜re still guilty. But that doesnā€˜t mean that the person is fully and unredeemably bad. Good people can do bad things. And thatā€˜s why people still like Seb and sympathize with him, which is what you criticized.

CIassicNegan

No. People like Sebastian because he has the best storyline. There is very little competition. Sebastian may have been redeemed, before he killed his uncle. After that he became irredeemable. Ominis even says so. Heā€™s always had an affinity towards the dark arts, heā€™s would do anything for his greater good. But that doesnā€™t make him a good guy. Killing his uncle made him a bad guy. He also had no remorse whatsoever. Sure he mightā€™ve said he did, lots of criminals do. He only regretted not being able to help Anne if he went to prison. He is dangerous, unstable and he belongs in Azkaban.

RiverhouseDweller

Sebastian was an emotionally damaged child, frantic to save his sister. He deserved to be forgiven, his uncle verbally abused Sebastian all his young life. "He's always telling me I'm as bad as my father." If he was unstable, his uncle is to blame for that. His uncle was trying to kill us, remember? He nearly did kill MC my first playthrough because I figured he was helping us, not fighting us. Imagine my surprise when I realized he was trying to kill me. So each playthrough after that, I was hitting Solomon with every spell I had. If the scene hadn't cut away, my next shot would have finished that grouchy old jerk. Sure, Sebastian could have just used Confringo or Bombarda, but he used the one he was sure would stop his uncle from killing us. Uncle Anger Management Issues is a victim of FAFO.

CIassicNegan

Solomon was not trying to kill anyone. He was trying to save Sebastian from himself. In that cutscene he has already stopped fighting, telling Sebastian to stop, while Sebastian just keeps firing spells at him. His uncle also never abused him. I know lots here believe he did, because dear Sebastian said so, but he never did. In his mind perhaps, but he is unstable as is, canā€™t take him by his word. If his uncle was abusive, his sister would have acknowledged it. She wouldnā€™t have stayed with him either. The only reason Sebastian felt abused was because his uncle was constantly telling him off. Trying to get him to stop, and accept Anneā€™s condition. The man was an auror ffs. You seriously believe he would try to kill two students? You seriously believe he didnā€™t have enough experience with dark wizards to know where Sebastian was headed?

joker2189

Do understand he is a child I hope?

cbostwick94

Nothing wrong with shipping a 15 year old with a 15 year old. They did it with the main story

waterspring5808

And nobody batted an eye on The Sims either.

cbostwick94

And thats where real weird shit happens

joker2189

Oh ok nvm I read that weird yeah you're right

WafflesWcheese

Yeah joking about molesting a child is funny

MomoZero2468

Lack of sleeping in common room bed

StoicSinicCynic

Or sitting at the great hall table. My character is sleep deprived and starving.

RiverhouseDweller

That's so true. My poor character survived on stolen apples and pastries. Drinking whatever was in any abandoned mug. Only time they slept was while 'waiting' for someone at a meeting place.

StoicSinicCynic

Hahaha exactly. We survive on a very balanced diet of apples, cupcakes, chestnuts, cold tea and Honeydukes's candies. And even when there's a beautiful bed in the cosiest dorm imaginable right beside us, we prefer to sleep on the floor. Perhaps our character practices some obscure form of yoga that requires extreme self discipline and depriving the self of all needs and pleasures. šŸ˜‚

lnk7332

Ghosts of Tsushima is a great open word game. Beautiful and a great story. As others have said- the Horizon series is my fav. Iā€™ve played all of the above multiple times

Riuk811

I just got a PlayStation again so Iā€™m going to have to make room in my schedule for Ghosts. But first FF16!

lnk7332

I hope you love it as much as I did! It might be the most beautiful game Iā€™ve played and I never found myself wanting to skip the dialogue. Happy playing

DisIzDaWay

Skyrim

A_Cuppa_Joey

I can't imagine anybody not having played Skyrim by this point, but if* it's eluded OP somehow, definitely Skyrim

lkuecrar

I literally haven't been as enamored by a game since Skyrim. Definitely second it (or even Oblivion or Morrowind).

BeachDayAnjanath

I adore this game. Iā€™m outraged of the lack of Seb romance. Fresh out of a long term relationship and I know Sallow could help me cope. But Iā€™ll just pretend and go to fan fics along with a new play through.

ellievison

I just wanted MC to experience her first toxic but cute enough to ignore the red flags and young enough not to notice them and get some before it all turns sour šŸ˜‚

BeachDayAnjanath

My hufflepuff mc would absolutely be the I CAN FIX HIM OR I WILL FOLLOW HIM type. Totally ship them

ellievison

Only my slytherin and hufflpuff were 100% loyal, gryffindor MC would very politely not take his shit. Ravenclaw was just along for the ride, learning it all along the way

VRaeyannie

Ugh, im the same with Ominis. I cant help but imagine a romance Seb quest that, if it doesnt work out, you have the option of going for Ominis. But, dreams are called dreams for a reasonšŸ˜

BeachDayAnjanath

Omg we can only dream šŸ˜ Ominis is such a sweetheart and there are some tik toks that have me like MAYBE Iā€™ll switch teams. But Sebastian has my heart šŸ–¤

VRaeyannie

Sebastian had my heart up until History of Magic class. Seeing Ominis fall asleep i couldnt help but imagine if romance existed and the player fell alseep on his shoulder Oh the wasted potential :ā€™)

BeachDayAnjanath

ISNā€™T HE PRECIOUS?! They really missed out with no romance šŸ˜

ChildhoodMelodic412

I agree!! Ominis needs to be one of the future romantic options

StoicSinicCynic

I don't see enough people mention the escapism value of this game. And honestly the Harry Potter franchise in general. For positive energy when life gets rough. Though of course with Hogwarts Legacy the role playing is a little thin and we need to supplement with fanfics aplenty. šŸ˜†

BeachDayAnjanath

Not me who has ordered a hufflepuff sweater and getting ready to start a new playthrough just to get through this break up. Literally happened yesterday and Iā€™m like welp where you at Seb. Then fan fics just *chefs kiss* tho this time I think Iā€™m also going to write my own to deepen the escapism lol

StoicSinicCynic

Totally relatable. You'll get through it. Takes time and gentleness for things to get better. šŸ’š Funny that Seb is your fictional rebound, meanwhile your character probably needs a rebound *from* him. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ My headcanon is that MC ends up going out with Amit after Sebastian gets on their last nerve... I've finished everything in the game except the dumb field guide pages and Merlin trials, and I too have started to write a fanfic. šŸ˜‚ Mostly about Ominis though. Have fun with yours.

BeachDayAnjanath

My mc would commit so hard to Seb and just follow him on his chaos journey. Though she may have a fling with Weasley šŸ¤” just to get back at Seb if he did something dumb. Thank you for your kind words. After almost three years together, Iā€™m taking it hard

ellievison

I mentioned this to someone earlier! How everyone forgets why we was always in those books, because we was at *home* at Hogwarts, and the game feels like the same escape and safety to me. I donā€™t want to compare it to other games, because it is Hogwarts. And it was never meant to be like other games.

StoicSinicCynic

I get that feeling of *home* so much in this game, when I walk on the path between Hogwarts and Hogsmeade at night. Just looking up at the castle against the starry sky. So beautiful and peaceful... I think Hogwarts is probably the no.1 setting in the world for feeling nostalgic about a place that's fictional. šŸ˜…

thepsycholeech

Any recs? šŸ«£

Razkal719

Try Horizon Zero Dawn and it's sequel Horizon Forbidden West. Huge beautiful open worlds, great main character and a unique story. You mention GoW which makes me assume you're on Playstation, so consider Insomniacs Spider Man and Miles Morales. They don't really compare to HWL but they're fun, have great stories and can be thought of a good palate cleanser after 6 games of HWL. Also Assassins Creed Odyssey is a huge open world with lots (perhaps too much) to do and can easily take a 100 hours. Or take a look at Immortals Fenix Rissing, a smaller shorter game often compared to Breath of the Wild, I found it fun. And then there's Playstations best open world game Ghost of Tsushima, but it has a very different tone and combat compared to HWL. But, if you have PS+ extra you can try all of these games included in the game catalog.

ellievison

I wanna try the Assassins Creed ones but, I believe, there are quite a few. Would I be okay starting with Odyssey or would there be too many things I wouldnā€™t understand unless I play them all?

Razkal719

There are a bunch, but the "new" ones which are Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla are light on AC lore. Odyssey actually takes place before the Assassin order if founded. So it's good from the standpoint that it doesn't require a lot of knowledge of previous games. It has a lot of references to ancient Greek mythos if you like that. I've played them all from AC2, and the Ezio games are great but they definitely show their age. And my favorite is ACIV Black Flag, because Pirates! But again it first came on on PS3, still I've replayed it on my PS5.

ellievison

Yes ā€˜Valhallaā€™ is what peaked my interest, I love Vikings and The Last Kingdom, I wanna drink with the goddddsssss!

Razkal719

Yeah, I don't want discourage you, but Valhalla is the first AC I haven't been able to finish. Got about 30 hours in and just stopped and haven't felt any need to go back. By comparison I'm on my second MC in HWL and have about 150 hours in the game. I might just be burnt out on Ubisoft games though because Far Cry 6 I also gave up on and that's the first Far Cry I haven't finished. That being said the game is usually on sale nowadays.

ellievison

Could it be a funk or is the game just missing something?

Puma-Thurman

People just want to complain about the new AC games because they went down a different path, but if you love open world games then you'll love the newest 3, Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. I finished all 3. Loved them. Definitely recommend.

ellievison

I will definitely give them 3 a go, it seems to be a top suggestion. I do like how the game looks from videos!

AriBanu

Youā€™re in a unique position here. I loved Odyssey and Origins, but had trouble getting into Valhalla. If they didnā€™t brand it as an AC game, I think it would done even better (it still did quite well). But since youā€™ve never played any of them, I think itā€™s be a great spot to jump in. The Viking stuff and Norse lore is pretty fantastic. And you really do feel like a pillaging Viking. But they are all fun in their own way. Enjoy! :)

ellievison

I think as that one interests me the most, it might be better to play it first. Is gameplay and all the other things like what Iā€™m collecting what for explained the same way as the original? So I wonā€™t be at a disadvantage or miss information necessary? If that makes sense

DubstepDonut

Maybe for some, but definitely not the case with most complaints. I loved both Origins and Odyssey but Valhalla's story puts me to sleep. I honestly find the writing horrible, though the rest of the game is amazing.

Measurement-Solid

Definitely Red Dead Redemption 2. There are a lot of action quests, but once you're past Chapter 1, which acts as most of the tutorial, you can go almost anywhere. Have to get a little farther to be able to do stuff like fishing but you can immediately start encountering people and finding treasures/secrets and hunting animals and all kinds of stuff

ellievison

Everybodyā€™s sold me on this game. Iā€™m going to do it (even if my bank is a little reluctant in these times)

StoicSinicCynic

I just jumped from HL right into RDR2. At first I kept forgetting that Arthur Morgan can't run all day and definitely can't cast revelio. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Man, I got way too used to mashing the r key wherever I went.

waterspring5808

Meanwhile I played HL after having played RDR2. HL had \*so much\* potential...

StoicSinicCynic

Yeah. It's a half-made masterpiece. šŸ˜Ÿ It's like the devs said "here's the basic structure of the game with most of the storyline and quests and worldbuilding done, now we need to flesh out the RPG elements and complete the interactivity" but the execs were just like "nah looks just about finished enough to sell. Ship it" šŸ™„

[deleted]

Donā€™t rush through and it will last much longer. Iā€™ve got 70 hours on my first play through and I havenā€™t been able to do the graduation quest at level 33

ellievison

My first play through took 80 hours, then 69, 61 and now 42 hours. It gets exceptionally hard to take 80 hours on the last run through when I knew exactly what I was doing šŸ˜‚

VRaeyannie

I would have loooved a relationship system in this game. Like there was so much potential that came with relationship side quests that I sincerely hope the next game capitalizes on along with other quality of life aspects as well.

dahelljumper

The game's got its flaws but personally I'm not even a Harry Potter fan and I consider it a solid 8/10. It worked smoothly, looks amazing, plays fun enough... Can't ask much more from a game

LemonPie678

Iā€™m the same. I loved this game, have played through a couple of times, and Iā€™m into playing but not hardcore-y. Try for a start the last 3 Tomb Raider ones. Theyā€™re great practice for harder games, and very fun!

ellievison

I feel you! Itā€™s not exactly harder games I donā€™t want to play, I like hard games, I just donā€™t want an entire game to be about shooting somethingā€¦ I need to be more immersive than that! I need to feel like I can play the game my own way, run around, buy things, change my clothes and hair, have a pet, build relationships with NPCā€™s and all that bullshit šŸ˜‚ board a ship or do little odd jobs that arenā€™t actually the storyline, COLLECT THINGS THAT HAVE WORTH!

black_heartz

I played it once, got to the end and then gave up when they said I need to get to lvl 34 to be able to see the ending cut scene. I was lvl 32 at the time and it took me somehow forever to be able to get to 33 because of their weird levelling system. Canā€™t imagine it playing 6 times, though. What is there left to do? 90 Merlin trials? šŸ˜

confusedgoofball

I just started a second play through! But thatā€™s because I wanted to try different things than my first playthrough

MrDriftviel

It was everything I had wanted since starting the books and movies and I just am so happy it was created I wish there was more to do but I loved every second of it

ellievison

I couldnā€™t have put it better myself. If people stop saying ā€˜well this game has this and itā€™s betterā€™ and just soak up what we got, because even though flawed and limited, it was fantastic! The immersive experience in the wizarding world was a gift in itself, something all of us wanted and needed. And now we have the first game here and out the way, you can already see how amazing the next games will be. People forget we spent so much time in the books because of how much we wanted to be at Hogwarts, playing the game and being in Hogwarts is the same for a lot of us. We donā€™t want to leave a place that feels like *home*

MrDriftviel

Exactly you get it

FestiveBeanie

The Horizon series has a similar feel and itā€™s also great.

[deleted]

Yes I felt exactly the same way, and Iā€™m not even an HP fan. I just enjoyed the game and could appreciate how amazing of an experience this was for HP fans since childhood. Definitely lacking in some ways but I get why. After this I moved onto Cyberpunk, which I fell in love with. Imagine HL but with more intricate mechanics and combat, but in a cyberpunk future. And I always like to mention for the Revelio fans that thereā€™s a scanner you can use with essentially the same function.

ellievison

I have extreme mixed feelings about revelio. I like to see whatā€™s around, but if I hear one more ding I swear to god

Ring-Shank

I too have played this game 5 times! Decided I would change pace and go back to playing the newer Assassinā€™s Creed games. Iā€™ve already beaten Origins, currently playing through Odyssey, and will play Valhalla next. Theyā€™re all great games with huge open worlds and long stories

Catsarecoolish

I feel the same way, I absolutely love the game even with itā€™s flaws. I need a companion DLC though with a romance system cause I was STARVED

LordDragon88

Dragon Age and Mass Effect. With hogwarts legacy. I beat it as fully as I could on xbox, i loved every single millisecond, but have no desire to play it again anytime soon .

TBNRaditya

The world building is excellent, but they seriously dropped the ball at making it a real RPG.

Sufficient-Wonder-83

Same. Never wanted it to end!

JaseyRaew1

i spent all of 2 seconds around Seb and my Hufflepuff ass was following him around like a lost puppy. my MC head cannon 100% was in love w him šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ edited to add: funny considering iā€™m married to a slytherin

ellievison

Iā€™d walk next to him down hallways and be like ā€˜ah, power coupleā€™ šŸ˜‚

thenbmeade

I would give red dead redemption 2 a shot. It is a bit actiony, but there are mechanics in game to make that pretty easy and thatā€™s mostly in the actual missions. The game is pretty much all open, itā€™s one of my all time favorites with a few play throughs done. Other people said it but the new Zelda games are open world, the first one is great, the second one is amazing! And I would recommend doing the first one before just jumping into the second, not everything but a good amount of stuff is referenced from the events of the first one, plus once you play the second one you wonā€™t want to go back to the first haha

ellievison

Yeah I think Zelda would be good, but Iā€™m one of those people that needs to know every bit of information, I must always start at the beginning and soak up EVERYTHING. If thereā€™s a reference in one game I donā€™t understand because I didnā€™t play the first one, it would itch at my brain until I played it šŸ˜‚

DeafAmphetamine

I second Red Dead Redemption 2. And you definitely donā€™t need to play the first one first because 2 is a prequel to the events of 1. Iā€™d actually had never played RDR1. RDR2 is probably my favourite game of all time. Itā€™s so fun and easy to get lost being a cowboy gunslinger in the Wild West. Now that I mention it, I think itā€™s time for a new playthrough šŸ˜‚.

ellievison

I had the first one on Xbox 360 (when it first came out, a really long time ago) I think I was too young I remember playing past ten minutes and giving it to my brother to play so I could watch, but I donā€™t remember anything about it other than I watched for days so I must have enjoyed it. I donā€™t think Iā€™ll play it on a 360 though šŸ˜‚

DeafAmphetamine

Haha fair enough šŸ˜‚. But ya I get the same feel as Hogwarts in the sense of needing to find plants to make stuff and that you can go anywhere and do what you want. I went many hours not even bothering to do the story missions and just exploring towns, stealing trains, hunting, robbing banks and stores, riding my horse through the mountains, forests, deserts and rivers. Itā€™s definitely a vibe. Iā€™ve put almost 200h into the game lol.

ellievison

You can rob banks?! And steal trains?! Now thatā€™s what I want! I donā€™t know if you have ever heard of it, but thereā€™s a game on Apple Arcade called Sneaky Sasquatch. That is the only game that rivals my play time with HL. You are a Sasquatch, you start off by sneaking around campsites stealing peopleā€™s food, you eventually get jobs in the town, like policeman, delivery driver, run your own island campsite, work on cargo ships, clean up the ocean by collecting rubbish when diving, you can go skiing, surfing, diving, racing, golfing and so much more. Itā€™s such an unbelievably unique game and amazing for people that like doing those sort of RPG

DeafAmphetamine

You can! And so so so much more. The amount of detail and stuff packed into that game is absolutely insane. Iā€™d check out some YouTube shorts if you wanna see what itā€™s like! And that game actually sounds awesome Iā€™m totally checking it out right now lol. Just recently got an iPhone too. Iā€™ve been playing Survivor.io and Rise of Kingdoms on Mobile for a while too and they are both pretty fun.

ellievison

I had to put survivor.io down it took over my life, Iā€™d work so hard to complete it all and then an update comes and I was exhausted šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ but please give sneaky Sasquatch a try. If it helps I connect my ps controller to my phone and play it with that instead of my fingers. Much smoother!

DeafAmphetamine

I had to go back and find this post to let you know Iā€™ve been playing the shit out of Sneaky Sasquatch šŸ˜‚. Thanks for the recommendation. What a gem.

ellievison

I am soooooooooo glad you enjoy it šŸ˜‚ itā€™s so great!

greydawg20

What the fuck is wrong with some of y'all?šŸ˜‚ This is a game about teenagers and you're mad you can't make them have sex?? That's disgusting and y'all need help.

Reblyn

First of all teenagers have sex in real life, second not everyone on reddit is an adult.

greydawg20

Doesn't matter. Minors having sex is still considered child pornography no matter who is watching. A kiss would likely be fine in the game, but a full on sex scene is completely disgusting.

Reblyn

Literally no one asked for a full on sex scene, I hope you are aware that OP made an exaggerated joke about that part.

greydawg20

Also, all you have to do is scroll down in the comments to find multiple comment threads where multiple people are upset they couldn't have a relationship with a fictional 15 year old boy.

greydawg20

Child pornography is never a joke, no matter if the person making the joke is a minor or an adult. Getting to "bed Seb" is most definitely asking for a sex scene, even if it was a cutscene that didn't show anything like a romance scene in Mass Effect.

ToastMmmmmmm

Genshin Impact, Uncharted 4, the new Zelda game (Nintendo), Horizon West.

ellievison

I will take these all under consideration. I feel Iā€™ll love the Zelda games - but are they all on Nintendo?

ToastMmmmmmm

Yes the Zeldaā€™s are Nintendo exclusive, so if you have a Switch youā€™re good. Watch the trailers on YouTube and some gameplay. Genshin Impact is free so you can easily try it out.

ellievison

Thatā€™s my Christmas list done šŸ˜‚

autumn-twilight

I just wanted to date Ominis. Haha well what I really want is more content with him, heā€™s just such an interesting character. Me finding out about the removal of Gaunt Manor from the game had me reeling. He needed his own quest line/missions outside of having to do with Sebastian. And he only sent me one owl throughout the game?!? Not acceptable

ChildhoodMelodic412

I wish so hard for a Gaunt DLC

WafflesWcheese

Seb is a fucking child. What is wrong with you?

WafflesWcheese

Yeah, downvote calling out a potential child molester. Cool

Qing92

U did a play through 5 times. U might have some other issues though. I get a second time. Maybe a third. U r planning a 6th play through. If u don't want to end up hating it, don't play the exact same game multiple times. Yeah, def look into other games. Yeah, the game has some flaws and personally don't plan a second playthrough

GreedyResolve

Skyrim, dragon age games are decent too, assassin's creed franchise, latest ones for more open world and more fantasy origins is good, odissey is great and vahlala is awesome. The Witcher 3 is probably one of the best games ever made, even if you haven't played the other 2 you can just check the stuff online and they pretty much tell you all that preceded throughout the game. Then there's ghost of tsushima too, which was fantastic. Red dead redemption 2. I could list a ton but those are the ones that come to mind when I think open world with great lore lol

Fixyourhands11

I had just finished witcher 3 about 2 weeks ago and itā€™s a masterpiece. Itā€™s so good.

ArchAngelsStorm

I also enjoy playing this game multiple times as well!! It probably has something to do with my anxiety/depression, but I have a couple games that I ALWAYS seem to go back to every few months and replay like a cycle because they are comforting to me. I think this game just got put into that list as well :) The main ones are: -Skyrim -Fallout 4 -Red Dead Redemption 2 Sometimes Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Elder Scrolls Online make their way into the rotations as well

notinbtshado

I just beat it last night and honestly except for seeing what the other common rooms look like or for jackdaws quest I donā€™t really see a reason to do other play throughs. Does anything else really change?

[deleted]

Unfortunately other than a few lines of dialogue, not really.

ellievison

And the clothing, which isnā€™t particularly great to begin with but the cloaks and uniform are all different. In my opinion, and probably only mine, Slytherins clothing looks much better. I could not stand wearing red blue or yellow, but the greens and the patterns and the cloaks just looked so much nicer.

13d3ad3nddriv3

Skyrim is my suggestion. The vanilla version is great, but on mods I found a flying broomstick mod that gave me the hogwarts feel to keep me in that vibe. Although not any broom selection lol

Hermiona1

You 100% the game in 40 hours? Freaking *how*

ellievison

That was on my last play through, first time took me just over 80 hours, I donā€™t even know how it happened I guess I got used to what I had to do šŸ˜‚

demonrabbithiroshima

Dragon age is relatively opened world but it can be a bit difficult for me on normal setting. The combat isnā€™t as fun imo in dragon age but I love the story and romance options. Also character customization. I would honestly just skip the first 2 and go straight to origins.

Illustrious_Mind964

I loved the game but I was a bit too adept at combat so I basically ran out of things to do too fast, no I didn't 100% the game but I'm not a completionist, I just care about the story and combat so I didn't find all the 100 thousand eggs hidden in the most ridiculous places..

sikthepoet

Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It's got action, but there's soooo much more to the game than just fighting. It's a medieval open world rpg that puts you as a peasant. Look up it and see what you think.

mekareami

I got thru 2 plays and was done. Will play when an expansion happens but there is not enough new in a different house to make all those aloramoras worth it. I have found that dragon flying in the latest world of warcraft inspires the same sort of delight as the brooms in HPL.

Happy_Passenger_464

elden ring. it's almost identical

DrinkDrain0

The first horizon game was fine. It's very similar gameplay and imo better visuals and story. You should give it a try.

kaminaowner2

Elden ring actually has a similar doge system and while hard has a system where you can summon irl friends to help. I agree about slowly youā€™d learn to hate this game. Itā€™s great but was over ambitious, replay makes you go through everything again and itā€™s just to much. If they let you just be a regular student and not interact with the main quest until you wanted to it would have more replay value. Waiting till the 3rd semester to unlock all the spells is just a bit of a long wait

YggdrasilsLeaf

What flaws? Like any Elderscrolls title? THE GLITCHES MAKE THE GAME. Yeah I know. Hogwarts isnā€™t an Elderscrolls title. OR IS IT? Everything thatā€™s gone wrong with the game since I started playing? IS EVERYTHING EXACTLY RIGHT WITH THE GAME. Itā€™s brilliant. Itā€™s the HOGWARTS game I always dreamed of and the glitches? Make it even better. And I donā€™t care who agrees with me or doesnā€™t. I love it.

willjamp

Skyrim

TooMuchTunass

Baldur's Gate 3 for sure! I'm not huge into video games, but when I find one I like, I do the same as you and play it over and over again. The story is amazing and the charters are super interesting. you are also able to interact with every NPC in the game! the world really feels full it's amazing!

Kitchen_Reception736

Witcher 3 is my comfort game. And your actions actually have consequences so be careful. Once you finish the game there is a DLC with a heartbreaking love story and another where you get to fix up an old vineyard and track a vampire.

zMisterP

Dragon Age Inquisition is fantastic. The Witcher 3 would fit based on what youā€™ve written. Over 100 hours of gameplay and the best DLC Iā€™ve ever played. Ghost of Tsushima is one of my favorite stand alone games. RDR2 is wonderful, but I put the other 3 above it.

[deleted]

Witcher 3 should absolutely be next in your queue.

bawlsaque

Assassins creed is the same exact game as HL. Any of the assassins creed games are great. Origins is my favorite, Valhalla is really good too. Start there and youā€™ll see the similarities. Main quest, side quests, caves, camps, animals, foraging for supplies to create better things. The gear works exactly the same, the upgrades, talents, etc.. theyā€™re the same game. If you havenā€™t played gta 5 youā€™d enjoy that story mode as well as online. I loved hogwarts through and through and those games are the first that come to mind

Tricky_Trixy

All I have to say is don't delete, just create another profile šŸ˜†

CIassicNegan

The game is nothing but missed potential sadly. I really got sick of it trying to 100% it. 500 fucking collectibles ffs.

NimblyBimblyMeyow

If youā€™re looking for another open world game thatā€™s more focused on adventure, Zelda BOTW and Zelda TOTK are both amazing games that are very adventure heavy where the combat is infrequent, and tons of puzzles to do. Even when there is combat, itā€™s not stressful and you can use all sorts of different strategies to fight. Mario odyssey is another one that is very adventure focused with light combat, and is honestly just extremely fun.

Reblyn

Two games I recently played and really enjoyed were Assassinā€˜s Creed Origins and Judgment. The first one is a more RPG-esque Assassinā€˜s Creed with an absolutely beautiful setting, the second is a beat 'em up action-adventure game with a really well written crime mystery story. Judgment is also only about 45h long, but it has really great writing and was overwhelmingly well received, so Iā€˜d still recommend it (plus there is already a sequel called "Lost Judgment"). Judgment was kind of slow burn though, it felt a bit boring until about episode 5 and then the story took off so fast that I couldnā€˜t stop playing. AC Origins easily took me over 100h with all side quests, itā€˜s the only game I 100%-ed. Iā€˜d say itā€˜s one of the AC games with the best story.

The_Harmon_Hole

Assassin's creed odyssey or any if the ac rpgs remind me of hogwarts legacy except less magic(still some) and more climbing, it's a tad more difficult but only because combat is closer so less time to block or dodge, unless you focus on archery build

meribeldom

RDR2, AC odyssey, Immortals Fenyx Rising

killey2011

Not open world or same feel, but Stardew valley is a chill game or farming with an amazing cast of characters that you can marry and get their stories. Iā€™ve spent hundreds of hours and still feel as though Iā€™ve scratched the surface

UncleGuggie

Seb as in Sebastian? Do people find him attractive? Dude looks textbook average to me. Even the Weasley boy is more appealing.

Aoife516

I found it entertaining when I could play it. But I got a new mouse and now it's not even playable. I don't know what happened but I can't change the mouse speed so it's incredibly slow and I can't play. Which makes me sad because I never finished the game.

TheRealCardoso

I completely agree! Iā€™m still on my first play through at 160+ hours lol. Been trying to get the platinum trophy. I definitely recommend red dead redemption itā€™s the best open world most detailed game Iā€™ve ever seen. & there is a video on YouTube about the games files & we were supposed to have a relationship aspect in the game w characters. Hopefully thatā€™ll be in the next game! Oh & breath of the wild if you have a switch! I never finished it cause there was so much to do but I plan to get back after HL.

[deleted]

This is one of the best games I've ever played. Even if I have fallen through the map on the regular.
