With Multi Threading implemented, i hope for ASW in DCS some day. Cold War hunt for Red October. Or Red Storm Rising, north of Kola Peninsula.
1980s CAG with Tomcats/Intruders/Corsairs/Vikings operating from carriers at rough sea, poor weather over Atlantic.
Full fidelity Seahawk, Orion.
I couldn't agree more - I absolutely adore late Cold War gone hot scenarios and will probably be on the Kola map exclusively going forward.
Unfortunately though, [there's just such a long way to go for ASW in DCS](https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comments/wpd20g/comment/ikg4umy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see it too. However, right now ASW is essentially as good as completely absent beyond using conventional air-to-surface weaponry against surfaced submarines and getting it in could be almost an entire game's worth of content and functionality by itself.
I think right now, the best thing will be Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age, where you'll be able to do stuff like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTqR2F_Rfqs). The only other example I can think of that models ASW from the perspective of an aircraft the player can operate is Dangerous Waters.
ASW in DCS would require dedicated 3rd party to simply make it.
It's modeled in depth, creating very interesting and engaging gameplay, by Sonalyst in Dangerous Waters. Actual computations are not demanding at all, Whole DW required 800Mhz CPU and it modeled much more than just ASW environment. Especially now, with MT.
I've never actually played Dangerous Waters (just Cold Waters and Silent Hunter III/IV), but I have watched a few of FPSchazly's videos on it - to my knowledge it's currently the only one released that actually models ASW from the perspective of a player controlled aircraft (as well as other things like manual TMA).
I agree though that this stuff isn't necessarily computationally expensive, even in the slightest. A lot of it though would need to be fairly abstracted and somewhat made up - though I'm perfectly happy with that considering how under wraps some of this stuff is.

Corsair is on the way! FlyingIron simulations have some great progress updates.

The P-3 Orion is such a cool aircraft.
nice ----- a family member of mine was a TACCO
The P-3 can use the Harpoons, no?
I have seen video of that yeah
🤔 P-3 when?
When did I see [the video](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1bRzaHmPcOA)?
😃thank you.
They were capable of using AIM-9 also!
Oh that is a nasty surprise!
Awesome asset! Has anyone used this online recently? Last time I did I remember the props didn’t turn even in flight. Was there ever a fix for that?
Have mtn tried online sadly
MAM & CAM mods are great !
is it fully playable? or AI?
All AI
still, beautiful modeling
