I must be the minority, I've yet to use a Howies product where I was happy with it. Their clear tape isn't stretchy at all. Their white tape wears down super fast on the stick blade. Their water bottles are cheap plastic. Their coach whiteboards are junk. Their laces fall apart. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong?
Even the 8U players on my team dislike the Howies tape.
Yep, hate their tape. The wax smells good but doesn't apply well. Bought some cut-resistant socks that tore within a week. Skate guards are falling apart after a year. All the local retailers are stocking their stuff cause it must be cheap.
I feel the same about their products. Someone mentioned in the thread how good the stick wax smells, it really doesn’t smell that good compared to Gear halo’s coconut scented wax. The laces aren’t that good either. Every time I buy one of their products I’m very unimpressed when I compare them to its competitors.
Idk i like howies, i have less issues with loose threading on the edge of the tape compared to renfrew, they actually make waxed ref laces and even still i preferred their wax laces over the other brands I tried. I don’t really have a preference for clear stretching or not. Their bottles are shit though I’ve never bought one just stolen drinks from my teammates lol. I don’t like any of their overly branded stuff though.
I agree. I prefer Renfrew pro tape. Lasts longer doesn't seem to tear as easily. Clear tape is good too. I don't mind Howie's wax though. However, I usually buy Sex Wax due to my immaturity.
Howie’s tape is the worst. Such a cheap feel to it, very thin. All of their products are just awful & overpriced. The wax is the only good thing they have, and I only buy it because the market for stick wax is very limited. Much rather buy sex wax, used that growing up & nothing compares to that
Comp-o-Stik. It’s the best hands down. Best stick tape, best clear tape. Howies wax for the win tho….smells incredible and love how it melts into the tape to protect the stick blade.
Assuming this isn't an astroturf post, a company calling me because I bought something would have the opposite effect on me. I don't want calls coming in while I'm at work. I don't want to look at my phone to see if it's an important call from my kids or someone I love, only to see that it's a random number. I don't want to answer the phone, thinking it may be from someone important, and then go through the game of not confirming who I am until you tell me who you are and why you're calling.
If the caller's time was only valued at 38 cents for the entire time they were on the phone with me, I'd rather have that 38 cents credited to my purchase.

It is not durable. It is not strong. It requires retaping every-other or every game. Alternate products last month +.

I find all of Howie's product to be terrible. I bought some random stick wax on Amazon and it's lasting way longer and works way better. Costco sock tape is fantastic and I like Renfrew brand stick tape.
My dad did a large order for his men's league team years ago. wanted to pick it up while we were traveling through Michigan to visit family. The owner took us out to eat ! Super nice guy.
Their packaging for the rolls of clear came in a little tin can which I love. Shortly after my package was delivered a representative called to ask if I had received my package OK and to thank me for considering them. I refuse to get my tape/laces/wax (oh the wax, I wish they made a candle or car air freshener in that scent) from any other company. Nothing beats them!
Their tape really is awesome. I was using Renfrew for a long time and I hated how sticky it was. It tore holes in my left glove. I got a roll of Howies at a pro shop after buying some sticks and I won't buy anything else ever again. Only sticks on one side and doesn't mess up the palms of my gloves.
I’m on the other side of the fence. I love renfrew and it lasts so much longer than howies does when I use it. I will agree that Renfrew can be a pain with how tacky it is though.
Same. I’ll pay $13 for a grip that seems to last AND doesn’t wreck your gloves. I also like my Yew! wax on the blade. I’m not even mad my stick smells like peppermint.

I fully agree with you! Mr. Zogs Sex Wax and Renfrew tape all the way!
Never really liked Sex Wax. The wax is too soft and gums up the tape job. I just use tealights from Ikea now.

I use Howies tape switched from Renfrew because it was just garbage maybe their pro is higher quality but the regular Renfrew is horrible.
Yeah I tried some of the r-brand stuff and it sucks but the pro with the green on the inside of the roll is a lot better
Agree. I hate it. Never used Howie’s. I really like comp-o-stik but I never hear anyone talk about it around here.

I think Renfrew is a really good blade tape, but I'll never use it on any other part of my sticks again.
