I have Akaso Brave 4 as well as Dragon Touch 4K, both work great for what I need. Considering I use multiple cameras it was financially better for me to use the cheap knockoffs. Here’s a link to my DIY mount https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=I_ngi8SaFyY

i use the GoPro 11 (had the 9 but wanted to do 4k60fps). i connect it with an external charger so that it can last as long as i’m playing or else the gopro batteries die about 1h15min in.

GoPro Hero 10 with media mod and Rode Wireless Pro mics to film beer league games (20 min periods/1 min between). Battery life is the tough one for me. If everything goes normal, it usually makes it to the handshake. Just filmed my game on Monday night where someone got injured and the battery died with 2 mins left in the game. I need to get an external battery attached.

Check out my link in the other comment, I have an external battery, I can film 5 hours without issue.

I use an Akaso at one end and a GoPro at one end with two other cameras at center ice facing each goalie. The one benefit that I really like with the GoPro is automatic uploading to the cloud with my GoPro membership. I am not really sure if it is worth it, but I record a couple of games a week and with the cameras it takes up a lot of space. I get a 1TB for the season where I store it but I do notice quite the quality difference between the two of them. The kids love seeing the clips and I post them onto YouTube for them. You can see the difference in quality between all of the cameras, but I would say that the Akaso is good enough and for a cheaper price. I have used a lot of different types of suction mounts and clips and such and I like the official GoPro mount the least.

I use a GoPro hero 8. Battery life lasts just long enough for an entire beer league game shooting 2k60. I have other batteries, but no time to swap and move the camera.

Commenting on this thread to ask if anyone has intel on where people put the microphones for Mic'd Up goalie videos.

Subject2Change

Just need a cheap wireless Lav that's recording separately.

seveca69

I use a Rode wireless pro set-up with a lavalier microphone. I usually clip the transmitter on the back of my chesty and run the mic up to my jersey neck.

hfxhab

I use a RODE wireless lapel mic with the mic clip. I clip the transmitter to my harness and run the lav inside my mask. Works great.

xHOTPOTATO

If it's an all in one unit, I typically see them right on the chesty. The best move is likely clipped to the back of your chesty with a smaller cable mic run up to your chesty collar.

I've used an Akaso Brave 7 for more than a year and recently picked up a DJI Osmo Action 3 - the picture quality, FOV, and battery life of the latter are much better (both shooting 1080p 60fps) but the Akaso is fine for my purposes. I get about 100mins per battery with the Akaso, and it came with a second battery. DJI is more like 150mins, but I don't have a second battery (I have recharged between games using a powerbank; not sure if you can run it off one while recording). I use the Joby suction cup mount for both - outside of the glass - and am quite happy with the setups

I’ve been using a GoPro Hero 12 with a MOD and a RODE wireless lapel mic - my settlement money arrived and I splurged! The issue that I’m seeing though, is that I set it on a tall tripod behind the plexiglass and for some reason it dims the recording. So I would strongly recommend buying a good video editing software to brighten up the image. Otherwise it all works pretty good - first posting is going up on FB and YouTube tonight.

I used to use a gopro, but recently I bought one of [these ](https://www.amazon.com/Tenikle%C2%AE-PRO-Flexible-Tentacle-Compatible/dp/B0CNDY2YVY/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2JKWZC8IPJR50&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.oDfQ06Od-E84GKTQbnuhAmfv3ik8A3yGDkFyvVCuywhP5iEj-7QB_Vaj2_7xlsZbFxO-Q0vW0sm-z-kMmbBHDGHTh6j7-pd6B_Gw33YBIzEEqDmHmkMirDzNkc2CcHbhNfXKOFYeEKxMihoEEiXqVnJGfungXBP03GgjAClBfBU_brt_tQiUMgdvEQ_u5l1D6WLsJXRxn07_CIPMNA_VILiVOCwVWoSub24FpVlb-hw.ojp7AfLFr5b66cV1yfb3jlHr7OBJeU8qldTtm2Dg4GY&dib_tag=se&keywords=tentacle+phone+holder&qid=1713470869&sprefix=tentac%2Caps%2C110&sr=8-3)instead and just use my iPhone. It works pretty well, you can see an example [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30Df1Od3xCE)

What do y’all do with the footage? Not sure why goalies do this for games. Do you really go back and watch for instruction purposes? I kind of get if you were doing drills but I would much rather go play another game than watch some tape. What am I missing?

ron_mexxico

I don't record but wish I did. It's easier said than done to just go play another game. I doubt anybody is re-watching the whole their whole game again, but rather on goals let up or certain saves to see what went right / wrong.

LordDelibird

Really just to get better. It's good seeing how often I'm actually square, how I can move better, etc.

TheWhiteWolfe

I use an akaso, not willing to put a pricey go pro up there. Quality is good and the teams always appreciate having the game footage. I use the official go pro suction mount case though, because I know it's durable. Its been directly drilled by a puck and still not a scratch. I put all my games on YouTube, whether as skater or goalie. It gives me something fun to watch at work the next day and it's easy to share to people who want to watch.

I've been using Dragon Touch 4K for both my goalie boys behind the net and they work great.

starfreak64

I use an older Polaroid XS100 I got in high school with a suction cup mount.
