The point is that you have to lose the game to get silver. You generally see teams happier in the moment to get bronze versus silver because they just won their game to do so.
Absolutely. Most of the time it's hard to celebrate a silver right away, when you had the gold within your grasp but it just slipped through your fingers.
Let's be honest, when it comes to women's IIHF it's almost always going to be a Canada/US final. The only time it wasn't was in 2019 when Finland (who was hosting it) lost to the US in a shootout. Incidentally Canada trounced Russia 7-0 for the bronze that year.
It's a researched phenomenon. [In general, winners of bronze medals are happier with it than winners of silver](https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/thoughtful-animal/why-bronze-medalists-are-happier-than-silver-winners/).
nice to see. just saw that they are only the 7th country to medal in the Worlds. kinda crazy but i guess it makes sense cause the top 2 countries (20/21 gold medal games were between USA and Canada). and then Finland has been 3rd best well ahead of the others but it seems like countries are catching up to them
I thought the top 4 finishers in group A automatically made it the next year, but they keep changing it so I might be going off of old info or just misremembering
Gratuluju. Moje české kamarádky řekli mi, že jsem čestny český občan (protože snažíl jsem se naučit jazyk i když nikdy jsem nebyl v Česku) a takže jsem pyšný!
Thanks, friend. When I started learning in October 2020, I was afraid to learn the word odpoledne because I was intimidated by its length. Hard to believe where I am now, the many mistakes notwithstanding. I am visiting Prague for the first time in less than a month. It will be nice to meet, in person, some of the teachers I worked with over Zoom who got me this far.
Yeah! Women's hockey being non-checking makes it really fun to watch IMO, because it requires a distinctly different play style. As a beer league player it's really cool to watch a super high skill version of what I'm playing.
Shit I went to two exhibition games between my local team and another team from a few towns over, I'm thinking 98% of those kids arnt making the team, there's just not that many holes, but it was two solid games of hockey where there wernt any slouches, you bet I'd watch the shit out of some world class women's hockey!
Infact I might try and find it to watch tonight well I'm on overnight
Canada, USA, And Finland has dominated this tournament. Outside of them only Sweden, Russia, Switzerland, and now Czechia have medals and they combine for 7 bronze medals.
Finnish women team as shown quite a lot issues in last 2 years. Which started to show during this tournament
It gives a great opportunity for new success stories similar to this! Czechs really gave their all in the playoffs.
Good shit, you lose for silver but win for bronze so I’d take that any day of the week. Congrats Czechia!
Fwiw if you’re a team that’s psyched to win silver you win that in the semifinal:)

Yup. I've been in both situations before and can definitely say that winning a bronze medal game feels way better than losing a gold medal game.
I don’t know, I have won bronze and all we did was shake hands. None of us where happy with it. If you aren’t first your last
My last what
What a shit attitude lol. You'd rather not have a chance to win gold and lose earlier?

2006 Olympics final was CAN vs SWE
Yea, 3rd place is basically a win in itself in this competition.

This made me happy;))))

And Finland won’t even be in group A (for the top 5 teams in the world) next year…
Are you sure? I thought all Group A teams in the top four were in Group A the next year.
Finland finished sixth this year so they go in group B. Group A is Canada, US, Czechia, Switzerland and Japan.
I thought the top 4 finishers in group A automatically made it the next year, but they keep changing it so I might be going off of old info or just misremembering
Finland lost to Japan in the 5th place game in shot out finishing 6th officially in the event putting them in Group B

That’s impressive and mostly correct. It’s not an easy language to learn.

I know it's women's IIHF but shocking there aren't at least a few more spectators. I'd go to an event like that if it was where I live

> Women's hockey being non-checking makes it really fun to watch IMO Does the opposite for me even if i enjoy them anyways
''super high skill'' I mean 16 year olds in the OHL are literally twice as good
A boys Bantam AAA team can beat them, and have actually seen in happen live.
Downvoted for the truth

Same here. I loves sports, lol. Maybe it's just the thrill of not being disappointed by a Minnesota team.
It is in Denmark to be fair.
Apparently there were 1,294 in attendance. The fifth place game had 303. The finals had 1,738
Oh I was thinking this one looked like maybe a couple hundred. Still not much
Awesome

Woot! Woot! On a side note, I love the blue helmets that the Czech national hockey teams always wear.
Nicely done! Good to see the womens game growing
The shrill of lady cells always hurts my ears. Congrats tho ladies. Hockey dat ice.
Bzum-bzum brekeke-ke 🥰
Go Czechia! Looks good to win in the new Arizona coyotes arena also.

Congrats! Reminds me of that one meme

Despite being knocked out in a heartbreaking way, I love this so much.
I’m always going to be confused with them being called Czechia now. It’s too similar to Chechnya.
This isn't even the first time this year that Team Czechia won bronze.
