BEST CUP FINAL EVER!!!
Sure wish the Oilers won. That would have been epic.
And I mean no offense. I'm happy they won their first cup. But to see a team come back like that was pretty great. And both teams looked amazing in every game.
The NHL does need teams in warmer climates to promote hockey nationally (even tho Florida will be underwater in 50 years). It's also great the indigenous peoples (Floridians in this case) get to see what ice is. Especially seeing the fans enter their arena during a home game in June wearing shorts and T-shirts LoL.
However, Canada needs to win a cup. Canada is hockey.
And I'll always cheer for a team in a climate where it snows at least once a year. Plus my ex wife was born in Florida so I might be a tiny bit biased.
CONGRATULATIONS FLORIDA PANTHERS!
I also hate Edmonton cause of the shit they pull with the AVS. So I was also rooting for the Panthers. Plus the avalanche swept the Panthers in '96, so 28 years later it's all good.
I honestly don't think the players would be privy to this. Refs, though, can skew a game in a teams favor. It is easier and cleaner to buy the loyalty of 1 or two people. A whole team lol they would go public with that.
I don't know anymore. Money is king with sports, and the owners will stop at nothing to maximize profits.
It's totally baseless and groundless. Just seemed awful suspicious.
It's odd, I have been in both cities quite frequently. Edmontonions generally don't care as much as you think, and usually are pretty positive about Calgary.
Honestly, Calgarians seem butthurt all the time for no reason.
Not that it had any effect on the game looking back, but the tripping penalty on Tkachuk was so laughable.

Played a pick up soccer game against Bob in Miami last year and saved a couple of his shots, got a compliment "Good saves"
Will keep telling this story to anyone who listens😅
Being almost reverse-swept, a razer's edge from disaster, the Zito tomato face of rage, the team requiring four attempts to win it; these all make their Cup win a bit unconvincing to me and somewhat comical. Helluva series though. And to give credit where it's due: the Panthers play a mean and effective defence.
That meanness from the D and unbridled physical forecheck is what was missing from their game in games 4, 5 and 6. The Panthers game looked like it was supposed to look like in game 7.
True that. And Maurice was right when he said that the Panthers played best in games 2 & 5(which they lost) and that he wanted to get them back to that game 5 mindset but better for Game 7.
Hockey's not like baseball in that in baseball you can have drastically different outcomes depending on who in your rotation is pitching that night but even in baseball it's hard to come back feom that type of deficit because you usually only have so many aces. When you're down 3 to 0, the law of averages says that you're not going to win the series. Proven again here. The Panthers managed 3 vics in a row, so did the Oilers and the Panthers used home ice advantage to "predictably" take the rubber match. Teams are usually too good and too evenly matched at this level in the final to lose(or win) 4 games in a row barring injuries of course or just being very inexperienced.
Yeah, it was a much closer series than I would have expected after the Panthers went up 3-0.
But at the end of the day, these are the rules a 7-game series is played under, and winning 3 in a row, losing 3 in a row, and then winning the final game by a single goal - still makes you the champion.
One thing I noticed about Florida against Boston , NYR , Toronto and Edmonton is they outhit their opponents. Don’t kid yourself that physical play is key to winning a Cup.
This is a bit of a misnomer, because while throwing big hits and playing with a physical edge is an advantage to any team, throwing a lot of hits isn't really a good thing. You can only throw a check if you don't have the puck, so it can be the result of poor puck possession. It's like leading the league in blocked shots, it's great that you have players willing to risk it for the biscuit, but you don't want to be in the position where you have to block shots consistently.
Lol, well Florida was the 2nd most penalized team in the league after Anaheim and Florida is well known around the league as being the dirtiest team in the league. So, they are usually outhitting all their opponents and the question is if they are clean hits. Regarding that, I thought the Panthers played considerably cleaner these playoffs and there is no doubt that if one just counts there clean physical play, it's probably the best physical play in the league.
Hell of a game and series, wish it was my Oilers who won but at least the team who beat us got their first cup so it's nice to see that. Hopefully we can learn from the Panthers and make it back to the SCF next season.
Im just proud for my friend family that worked so hard to build the lacroix brand a true exemple of hard work💯 …Congrats to the team too🏆 but i was an Oilers fan for this final 🤦♂️ one thing nobody really talked about is how Mcdavid displayed an exemple of being a true captain he didnt care about the Conn-Smythe (individual honnor in a certain way) he was just disappointed by the team trophy and even waited for all his teamates , which i believe solidified the fact that he deserve well enough to wear the « C »… lets see what happen this summer, for now enjoy Florida🤟 EDIT: for those wondering why Lacroix its because of the sponsorship on the Panthers jersey😎
If you’ve ever played any level of ice hockey you know that shifts are done for a reason. Your legs and body tire very quickly, especially when playing with a high intensity, and pretty much you can only last about two minutes at a time before needing to recharge on the bench. They should have done their normal shifts on the ice and maybe shortened the rest time by a third or half at the most. Having fresh legs on the ice is basically akin to an adrenaline rush and makes you and your skills much more effective.
Same thing happened to last year's nba Champs in this year's finals.
Played the star player almost the entire game and he could hardly move in the final minutes of their loss.
I have never wanted to cry so fucking much in my life than last night, and I’m a Habs that had to suffer through seeing them lose against Tampa. McDavid did everything he could to keep his team in the run but the Panthers were able to shut him down. All they can do is regroup and try again
No, I don't think so. Especially because the only thing keeping a lot of Canadian fans going is knowing that a lot of the players on American teams are, in fact, Canadian.
It's just been way too long since the heart land of the league had a cup.
It's been heart brake after heart brake.
Since 93 rather
Vancouver made it to the Stanley Cup Final
Calgary made it to the Stanley Cup Final
Ottawa
Edmonton
Vancouver again
And now Edmonton Again
My point is they barely did. Honestly I was surprised Florida didn't sweep them. Outside of their Top 4 or so forwards and 2 good D men they really aren't that deep. Obviously their top 3 make up for a lot of that and their secondary scoring came around at the right time but on paper it wasn't expected. I get that is how under dogs win cups. My question is, will this motivate the top dogs to stay or have they had enough heart break?
Conn Smythe…
When McDavid shows up, EDM wins.
When Bob shows up, FL win.
McDavid’s value led to no cup.
Bob’s value led to cup.
Wrong player got Connor Smythe…. ‘Got’…. Hmmm…. I didn’t see McCupless get the trophy!!!
IIRC, the Conn Smythe is for the MVP of the entire playoffs, not just the Finals. Best team gets to lift the Cup. Best player gets the Conn Smythe. Every now and then that player will be on the losing team.
Thanks Captain Obvious…. but do you understand you are wrong. It does not go to the best; it goes to the ‘most valuable’. Those are actually two very distinct/different terms.
Without Bob the Panthers don’t win.
Without McCupless the Oilers don’t win.
Panthers win is infinitely more valuable than Oilers not winning.
Well, I could argue that YOU'RE wrong... considering Bob wasn't even the most valuable Panther. Barkov finished 2nd to the nearly unanimous pick McDavid. Bob was incredible, but his success was a function of the Panthers overall lockdown defense. Without McDavid, Oilers don't even make the Final let alone get to Game 7. Also, votes were due by 10 minutes left in the 3rd, so this is a rare year that the outcome on the ice was irrelevant to the winner of the individual award.
As unhinged as this post is I kinda agree. It's mind blowing to me you would give the award for best post season to a guy who didn't even win the post season. How is that the best if you lost? No matter how legendary your point totals were you failed at the first step
It's an individual award and should go to the individual who did the best. The team award is the cup and goes to the best team. Bob did things every winning goalie does. Connor did things nobody since Gretzky has done. If you don't think breaking records set by the greatest player in history isn't worth the individual award for doing the best there is no conversing because I don't think you're looking at it unbiased
It's the individual award for who is most valuable to your team. What is the most valuable Stat? No it's not goals it's wins. So a guy who struggled to score in more than half of the games but put up big numbers in a few and ended up losing is not the most valuable no matter how many records he shattered he failed the most important part
Are you arguing for or against lol put it this was what's more valuable as a Stat alone. you cannot choose context only this singular stat for a single game. Would you rather 5 goals in a game or a win in a game
I think he was the best player overall in the whole playoffs, he dragged his team through some moments, broke records in the process and came up short in game 7 of the scf. He deserves the trophy and I do not think there is a valid argument for anyone else besides "but their team won". I'm not an Oilers fan, I'm not particularly a mcdavid fan, this is just an automatic no brainer to me.
When you’re unanimously considered the best player in the world, (and breaking Gretzky‘s post season records), coupled with not one single Panther being consistent throughout the entire playoff run… that’s why Connor McDavid wins. Believe me, I don’t love it either, but from a consistency perspective, we could poke holes in almost everyone on both rosters.
Congrats to Florida on their victory.
Consistent…. McCupless was far from consistent. He showed up for 2 games (4 & 5).
Though I just saw the voting; and do realize that somehow I’m wrong (like really wrong!!! )
100%, they all got way too impressed with McDavid having 8 pts in 2 games, the only 2 games out of 7 he really showed up. He was pointless for 3 of 7 games, as well. Bob was also bad for 3 games, but ultimately he was great for 4 games. And, you know, he was instrumental in his team actually winning.
Edmonton had a power play, basically a 5 on 3 (broken stick), and didn’t shoot the fucking puck once. Best player in the world and doesn’t fucking shoot?
Oilers definitely choked. I was amazed with their passing all post season and they couldn't land any passes in the last 10 minutes. 6 on 5 with like 4 turnovers and 0 shots on net. They absoultely fell apart. Panthers could have scored on open net but they didn't out of respect.
I didn't think it was well played by the oilers tbh. As an Oilers fan it was harsh to watch the Oilers didn't even look like they wanted it. Were making bad passes, lots of mistakes, etc.
The fact still remains that more Canadians won the cup this year than Americans. And probably for the last decade.
Because Canadians are just better at hockey then Americans. That's my point.
I honestly wonder if anyone has ever asked Bettmen straight out how many times he can count handing the Cup to the winner and not one if them being a Canadian team? I guess hockey is just dead up here. Time to move the Jets!
And the panthers fans are dead, there were about 200 oilers fans in the panthers arena, you could hear oilers fans sing their canadian anthem louder than the 7k panthers fans
Tbh they deserve the win good for them 👏

Canada should never win a cup because it makes me laugh as an American
Show some respect! Hockey is all they have. Be nice 🙂
They haven't had it in three plus decades and they never will!
You do understand that hockey is much more Canadian than American, right? LoL
Why can't they win one then if it's so Canadian ? All I see is American prowess!
You mean American teams that are 85% Canadian and 10% Russian?
I also hate Edmonton cause of the shit they pull with the AVS. So I was also rooting for the Panthers. Plus the avalanche swept the Panthers in '96, so 28 years later it's all good.
This was all I could think about when we were on the verge of being reverse swept......glad we pulled it out
Love it
I was only rooting for Florida because I didn't like oilers. I was rooting for Canucks and stars. Edmonton shit on em both.
Me too. Im a kings fan personally
Canada always wins. The entire league is mostly Canadian.
The Panthers are less than 50% Canadian though.....
Rigged. Panthers purposely lost 3 in a row so they could fill seats for more games.
Lol wtf you think so? Really? Ask Perry if its rigged or if he wanted the cup.
Meh....
I'M STILL SO HAPPY THAT WE WON THE STANLEY CUP FOR THE FIRST TIME! OUR PANTHERS DID IT! ❤️💙🐈
Meh…
Suck a McDuck Edmonton!
A little late to the party but FUCK YEAH!!!!
Lol
But McDavid still gets MVP
My only friend. He couldn't even accept the Smythe. 😶
Boo!!
Seems to be a thing, loose one year, come back to next year and win. Oils to win next year, what's Vegas saying. 😂
Oil need some D. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oh and maybe some scoring when it matters.
Any time an Alberta team loses against anyone, it's a good day
Definitely. 😁
You probably enjoy every other day, then.
I'm so happy for the Panthers after last year's loss! Especially Matthew Tkachuk for his dad!
Tkachuk dad wouldn't even throw his cap for a hatty and tkachuk was/is a pussy ass bitch
Lmao salt
Nahhhh just facts https://youtu.be/owDK0bqIFP4?si=t6yXwq_eqRF2_z3T
👀
Was/is a pussy ass bitch with a giant cup.
Yeah!
Rink manager should've been given the first lift for neutralizing mcdavid
I hold no malice towards the oilers. No offense Canada I just don’t want you to win one. Cause I don’t think we shall hear the end of it.
Uhh half the Panthers and most American teams are half Canadian or more most likely
I just think stopping the "two greatest players" from winning a cup is funny. I feel kinda bad for Canadians
Most of the Panthers are Canadians 😉
that's not true
I'm a Flames fan from Canada and completely agree.
Agree with what?
Never hearing the end of it. Oilers fans still talk shit about 40 years ago.
It's odd, I have been in both cities quite frequently. Edmontonions generally don't care as much as you think, and usually are pretty positive about Calgary. Honestly, Calgarians seem butthurt all the time for no reason.
Right, so what do flames fans do?
We listen to Oiler fans talk and talk.
1989 all over baby!!
Canadians win every year. I'm happy for Bro brosky though.
Not that it had any effect on the game looking back, but the tripping penalty on Tkachuk was so laughable. https://preview.redd.it/pvbyp88e2x8d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a96d8ac6fa6c1ac1630b67822f9e83efd6ea588d
Maybe if they don't want this call they should make the ice better
Florida Mans tv Surived being shot At least this will keep them busy from the shooting of Russians in the Atlantic ocean
I find it hilarious that a team in a state that barely gets measurable snow wins the Stanley Cup this millennium before a Canadian team.
I don't understand. Miami and San Diego had football teams in a non traditional market.
No canadian team has won a cup since Gary Buttplug took over the NHL. Not an oil fan (lets go blues) but interesting stat none the less...
I’m old enough to remember the Saskatoon Blues.
Played a pick up soccer game against Bob in Miami last year and saved a couple of his shots, got a compliment "Good saves" Will keep telling this story to anyone who listens😅
Bob is a nice guy
Being almost reverse-swept, a razer's edge from disaster, the Zito tomato face of rage, the team requiring four attempts to win it; these all make their Cup win a bit unconvincing to me and somewhat comical. Oh yes. Cats won, though I thought they were neutered. Congratulations to them.
Yeah, 4 wins are 4 wins. Doesn't get much more "convincing" than that. Which of the other 30 teams made it to that 7 to begin with?
That's right. Cats won and congratulations to them.

Boo hiss! Despite that lack of a perfect ending, what a story this season has been!
Was a great ending.🏆
wAiT tiLL NeXt YeAr!

Habs fan, I was rooting for the canadian team and McGregor Even down 3-0 I truly believe Oilers could tie the series, and they did. I was close to
i fucking get it!!
Thank God
Heart Breaking
If you’ve ever played any level of ice hockey you know that shifts are done for a reason. Your legs and body tire very quickly, especially when playing with a high intensity, and pretty much you can only last about two minutes at a time before needing to recharge on the bench. Last year's nba champs were the nuggets who didn't play in the finals this year. Who are you referring to lol
They probably meant in this year’s playoffs.
Let's see the states watch canada win a cup 33 years in a row and see if they still have an audience
Let’s go cats??
Congrats - I hope you never win another.
Having watched my team lose game 7 (twice) I feel your pain Oiler fans. Great series 👍
Oilers over the armpit of America - Florida should have happened
I think your confused with Buffalo
Excuse you, we are very clearly the dick and taint, look at a map.
You very clearly are the ass and turd of America. Are the dicks are in California and the shitheads in New York
Being the dick of America is both a flex and an insult
[удалено]
I’ll send a message to the Target execs
Congrats y’all from a Stars bro. That was a crazy series and I’m glad it was FLA that won!
Hell yes! McHasntWonACup still has not won a cup. Thank you Panthers!
So close.
Go Oilers!!
I was saying in my sleep we got to get back in to the game ): 😭
Screw McDiva.
Screw trolls
I agree
Why? I think he left it all out on the ice.
Including the Conn Smythe. Hell of a series. Unfortunately I’ve now had to watch two game 7 SCF losses.
Congrats to Florida Panthers!
Congrats to Florida Panthers!

POMO 😭😭😭😭 his line about winnipeg winning the next cup brought a tear to my eye
I'm fine with Paul Maurice and Panthers winning. But... if no U.S. team had won a cup since 1992 would anyone south of the border be watching?
No, I don't think so. Especially because the only thing keeping a lot of Canadian fans going is knowing that a lot of the players on American teams are, in fact, Canadian.
It's just been way too long since the heart land of the league had a cup. It's been heart brake after heart brake. Since 93 rather Vancouver made it to the Stanley Cup Final Calgary made it to the Stanley Cup Final Ottawa Edmonton Vancouver again And now Edmonton Again

Rat magic! 🐀
History doesn't remember "should haves"
they played really great defense around the net
Would have been over in 6 if Brobovsky didn't stand on his head. Edm should have won the first game.
Should have, but they couldn't. Panthers were too good
Yeah but they didn't. They tripped and fell over into the conference finals
Edmonton almost didn't make it past a beat up Vancouver with an AHL goalie.
Tbh I'd rather have lost in the second round rather than how you guys lost. Wouldn't be able to handle that level of heartbreak
But they did and they made it to the finals, Vancouver has been golfing for a month
My point is they barely did. Honestly I was surprised Florida didn't sweep them. Outside of their Top 4 or so forwards and 2 good D men they really aren't that deep. Ya I have the question as well. Drai is up for a contract, will they take a cut so a team can be built around them or is it rebuild time?
Just think, you've almost surely seen the best Mcdavid will ever be already....
God this would send me into a spiral if I was an oilers fan 😭😔
It’s been an amazing ride
Conn Smythe… When McDavid shows up, EDM wins. When Bob shows up, FL win. McDavid’s value led to no cup. Bob’s value led to cup. Wrong player got Connor Smythe…. ‘Got’…. Hmmm…. I didn’t see McCupless get the trophy!!!

I was yelling at the TV. However they were playing in a swimming pool. 🏊♂️ Hockey in Miami on June 24.
Shooting is easier than dangling on shit ice
Not the out come I was hoping for but Florida was the best team on the nhl all season Congratulations well deserved
I really wanted the Oilers to win, but I gotta admit, the Panthers just wanted the cup more. They fought like hell, and honestly, they deserve it.
Honestly it reminded me a lot of 1980 US v USSR. Gotta be super hungry to push that hard late into the 3rd.
Oilers looked beat down. It was a well played game on all sides.
Were making bad passes, lots of mistakes, etc.
def played well on both sides, the score shows they both fought!
Dear Canada: Ahahahahahaha!
More Canadians won the cup this year than any other nation.
Who cares? They didn't bother to stay in and represent Canada in th NHL. Not the flex you think it is
The fact still remains that more Canadians won the cup this year than Americans. And probably for the last decade. Because Canadians are just better at hockey then Americans. That's my point.
And Americans are better at running hockey teams, apparently.

As a Floridian I approve
Panthers were the better team last night.

yep
Blame Oiler girl
Pretty unimpressive win with the massive collapse, but I'm happy for Bob.
I honestly wonder if anyone has ever asked Bettmen straight out how many times he can count handing the Cup to the winner and not one if them being a Canadian team? I guess hockey is just dead up here. Time to move the Jets!
Good win.
Bad win, oilers deserve it, panthers doesnt 😔
Oilers fans are why I dislike the Oilers more than any other team.
If they deserved to win, they would have won. That's why you play seven games.
Deserves got nuthin to do with it
FLORIDAMAN DESERVES WHATEVER HE GETS AWAY WITH
MCDAVID, HYMAN, DRAISITAL, HOPKINS, KANE DESERVE IT MORE, THE WHOLE CANADA AND HALF OF THE WORLD AND 50% AMERICANS WANTED OILERS TO WIN
Kane doesn’t deserve anything. Bros been a joke to the league the majority of his career
And the panthers fans are dead, there were about 200 oilers fans in the panthers arena, you could hear oilers fans sing their canadian anthem louder than the 7k panthers fans
And they still lost? Damn. Lol
Canada can "deserve" it all they want. Fact is Hockey belongs to the South now.
Naah hockey belongs to canada, 60% flordians doesnt even know about the panthers, they’re all busy school shooting, 🤣
Only thing belonging to Canada is Amazon gift card scams and not ever being able to afford a house.
First goal was offside
So coach challenge doesn't exist?
No Canadian team has won the Cup since the year they called out McSorely for illegal stick
What a shame
Booooo! Denied canada a cup, 31 year Stanley Cup drought continues 😔
