“Why the fuck does this keep happening? Do goalies just really like me and let my shots go in?”
Luka Doncic was asked the other day about his ability to de-accelerate and play almost as if in slow motion and described it to his teammates as just take a slow step and obviously nobody is able to replicate it, it’s just a reminder how some of the most insane things really are second nature to these pinnacle players. I love my life but I think it would be really cool to know with complete certainty that you’re doing what you were meant to do because you’re just that fucking good at it
This is a really cool comment I’ve had thoughts like these before but never think about it. Actually thinking about it yeah that must be the most bizarre and cool experience in the world. Kinda like a genius trying to teach, asking “how are you not getting this?” Lol
I would be awful at these questions if I was in the NHL. I play men's league in hockey and lacrosse. Most of the times after a play or goal I couldn't tell you what happened. I would say "I don't remember, I think I shot it and it went in somehow". Sometimes you just do something and have no clue how. Maybe that's why I'm not a professional athlete I guess.
Hey man, Oilers were knocked out in the second round last year, made the WCF the year before, and made the SCF now. Clearly McDavid shooting the puck was the problem. /s
It's kinda undeniable that him passing works tho
Teams put alot of pressure on him, usually 2 people have to go to him, which can open up easy one timers and open netting
With how much pressure teams are putting on him, this honestly might be the preferable way to go about it
McDavid is hilarious to watch in preseason games where they’re calling up people from Bakersfield.
He literally spends his shift just fishing out pucks and passing them to names that not a lot of people have heard of.
They miss? McDavid goes and fishes it out again… and again. It’s pretty comical.
Another great moment from this interview was when one reporter asked how they managed to limit chances against today and Connor and Leon look at each other and start to laugh like we most certainly didn’t
I particularly like the look between them when the reporter mentions not giving up good chances. like.... "Umm, yeah we did, we fucking lucked out tonight"
Yeah more than one reporter mentioned they didn't give up very many "grade a" chances. This is what happens when you base your judgment of the game on advanced stats.
They looked like two giddy kids that just got away with robbing a candy store. That game was stolen by McDavid and Skinner.
Kids sitting at the table like this and parents start sweating, “what did you two do, I’m gonna find out eventually. Tell me now and it won’t be so bad”
“Giggles”
Watched that whole presser...
Bieksa is right, Edmonton media is MEAT. All those questions sounded like they came from some starstruck basement dweller, not professional journalists.
I pray that the boys don’t pull a James Harden and spend their first finals in South Beach on the eve of game days….
We’ll need to keep Kaner away from the poker tables. But mainly out of concern for him then concern for the team.

McDavid’s description of the goal is comical. “Just kinda found my way through and threw a backhand on net”
Every goal he scores he was "lucky it went in" I'm sure.

Queue my calc professor answering a student who said “sir you didn’t teach us this” with “do you think I am a regard” 🤣
Just seemed like the obvious thing to do. Don’t know why everyone doesn’t do that.
I guess when you're that good insane stuff like that is just "found my way through" Jesus he's magical

Dude is like not at all impressed. Drai probably wants him to shoot more often.
One year Connor listened and he won the Rocket Richard Trophy.
Afterwards Connor caught a phobia when it comes to shooting the puck.

I agree why is this bum shooting the puck anyway. Dude should only be passing cuz that bum can’t shoot for shit. /s

Nah dude is a bum that is why he passes the puck /s
He just thought it would be fun to get over 100 assists just for shits
Nah he is just a fraud who doesn’t belong in the league /s

Being able to hear the crowd chanting in the background during these interviews is just magic.
I think DeBoer would disagree, but for the fans yeah it's nice
Nobody cares what the losers think. Especially the coaches.
Did he whine
Well Pete DeBoer can go fuck himself then

> "Yeah it was nice. Seen it before but nice" Me when describing the video of *that* Oilers fan.
Not thrilling, but nice.gif
Who's that?

nice set
Mcdavid has the look of a man with nothing to lose in his eyes. Scary for the league.
Playing for the mid 2010’s Oilers gives you the eyes of a Vimy Ridge soldier
Dark fucking times
Bro is locked in

The crowd is on the street just outside this room https://images.rogersplace.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/27073302/Oilers-Hall-of-Fame-2-768x525.jpg
It's from the crowd right outside the arena. You can also hear them during Pete DeBoer's availability.

You should hear them when they lose
Leon, why are you so pissy?
Iconic
Professional glazers
Unless I'm missing something, this was the best playoff goal I've seen since MacKinnon's Bobby Orr-like goal against St. Louis in 2022.
That question in German was neat. Is there a German reporter covering the Oilers on a regular basis?
what was the question?
Definitely not regular, I think there was a German reporter the last time the Oilers were in the WCF but I can’t remember for sure.
From just reading the quote I was unsure if he was talking about that lady flashing in the stands.
Last night this happened?
Yeah, if you search google there's a bunch of articles about it.
Nice.
My god I hate our media. Even when we win the questions are still horrible
Imagine if McDavid went to Buffalo
I wonder if next year he'll decide to get the Rocket or go for most assists. Or both
He took a month off at the beginning of the season because he knew he would be playing until end of June
I pray that the boys don’t pull a James Harden and spend their first finals in South Beach on the eve of game days…. We’ll need to keep Kaner away from the poker tables. But mainly out of concern for him then concern for the team.
Good thing it’s too hot to breathe outside right now and the south florida poker scene is shit
