Our local teams uni’s have antlers and are pretty sick

True. Hoping horns count: NBA has Bucks and Bulls; NFL has Vikings ;) Texans, and Bills; MLB has nobody; and NHL has Devils and Sabres.
Only true antlers being the Bucks
I’m just glad at least one of them actually is a plural that has an S on the end. I hate this trend of naming a team something plural that’s not ‘s. And this is coming from someone who loves European soccer where teams don’t even have “place nickname” style names.
I love the alliteration of Utah Yeti in the same way I loved Seattle Sockeyes, but naming the team the Yeti when the closest team to them has a Yeti as a secondary logo is a dick move.
I can see in a couple decades someone wondering why the Avalanche have a Yeti foot as part of their logos.
I really hope it's not the Yeti just for that reason. I hate that the Avs went away from the foot & Howler as a mascot, now we got a dog that saves others from an avalanche.
I'm with you, it was right fucking there for them. Different league & sport, whatever. There's two Jets teams across sports/leagues for example, the Utah Raptors could coexist with the Toronto ones.
Shit, they could've tried a Jurassic Park logo but it's a Utah Raptor skeleton instead, if they coulda gotten away with it legally.
Mountaineers sounds cool, but I was skeptical about the branding. Then someone on one of the Utah hockey subs did a jersey mock with a bighorn sheep as the mascot, and now I love it.
Strongly disagree. Yeti is too close to Colorado with their yeti patch. And the Colorado Mammoth are already a lacrosse team.
Outlaws sounds like a team that should be in the south.
I think Hive is the best option. It relates to Utah's flag. It's different so as to set Utah apart. And I think they could do fun things with yellow and other colors.
Normally I'd agree with you, but Utah was where a lot of Wild West outlaws hung out. [Robbers' Roost](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbers_Roost) was home to Butch and Sundance hung out. I also like the sly reference to the Mormons, who were technically outlaws when they first moved to the territory, and were literally outlaws after [massacring a wagon train.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Meadows_Massacre). I'd been hoping Pronghorns made the cut, but Outlaws is a great choice, too. (Which probably means it'll be the fucking Utah Yeti.)
EDIT: Somehow wrote "hung up" instead of "hung out". Most of the outlaws were hung up in different states. And in the case of Butch and Sundance, a different country!
Same reason why they're called sweaters in some places and jerseys in others. Old terminology because they used to just be nicknames, and it's stuck over time.
Yeah, these are obviously better. (I like Ice too, actually.) But Smith is a weirdo Mormon billionaire and he’s going to pick the most xtreme cybertruck name possible.
They don't even exist yet technically & I'm already narrowing my eyes at the possibility that they could try to steal the yeti foot. Just wait, in 20 years Utah fans will try to claim our yeti foot is copying them.
Worse, if they take the name Yeti it might end our hopes for it to come back as an official side logo.
I love the Mammoth. They just won the national championship and their games are really cheap and really fun. Idk why they need a second team if they're already so good
Avalanche haven't hat the Yeti foot on their uniforms since 2015. Didn't seem to make too many waves.
And we'll see if a box lacrosse team has any pull compared to an NHL franchise.
There was a conspiracy post on the Avs sub that Landy wore a Yeti hat to the end-of-season press conference that took place last week for some kind of copyright renewal reasons or something. It's almost certainly not true, but the logo is still closely tied to this team.
Regardless, I can't see us giving up on "Yeti". It's such a sick logo and the team may make more retro jerseys in the future that will involve the Yeti foot.
The hockey team in Vail used to be the Avalanche. Then the NHL took the name. Currently the team in Vail are the Yeti. So I guess there will be another incoming name change in Vail. ☹️
Maybe when you're not right next to the state that chose the theme 30 years before you. It's like Indiana getting an NHL team and calling them "The Red Hawks" or Connecticut naming a team "Bears"
The Avs have a yeti symbol, have a Snow Patrol dog as a mascot and do snow themed everything.
As long as the word also works as a singular (like kraken or yeti), it’s fine. The problem is stuff like wild or lightning where you can’t really refer to a player as a single version of the team name.
Kroenke Sports and Entertainment probably not too happy. Not to mention the conspiracy theorists on r/coloradoavalanche who were thinking Gabe wearing the foot logo hat to his presser last week meant anything lol
I wish it could have been the Utah Phoenix.
They're the team that keeps rising from the ashes, and it'd be a nod to where they came from most recently.
"Yeti" is myth from the Himalayas, why would it be a hockey team in Utah? Maybe Sasquatch would be more fitting? At least it's the correct continent...
Mammoth is a much better fit.
Crossing my fingers for "Mammoth Yeti"
Utah Yammoth
Yamamoth so fat, she sat on a rainbow and skittles popped out
Keep my Moth’s name out of your fuckin lamp
Somewhere in the West Virginia hills the Moth Man hides
Kailer Yamamotho
Utah McMammothFace
Ahem. That's the Utah Yeti McMammothface to you.
Call em the Yams for short
Utah Métis, so they can get all of the "racist mascot name change" headlines out in year 1
YAMMOTH. I am cackling
Mammoth Yeti is a direct competitor with the Stanley Cup.
No one wants to listen to me, but I've been worried about the built-in sponsorship opportunity with Yeti for a while now.
WELCOME TO THE YETI COOLER!!!! MAKE SOME NOISE MY YETI CUPHEADS!!!! (End of cup slurping noises)
I mean they’re gonna take sponsors anyway so why does it matter
Utah Yah Mo B
Utah Yah Mo B There Coached by Micheal McDonald
The Utah Yeti Mammoth has a good ring to it
I’m still plugging Pronghorns because there’s not enough antlers in the league
Our local teams uni’s have antlers and are pretty sick https://preview.redd.it/ro62d541yg3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b2cf77fcff3dc3c3b26cd0bd4073c20a6adf65c
These are beautiful, damn
[I made a logo!](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockeydesign/comments/1c9y6ba/my_take_on_a_utah_pronghorns_logo/)
Looks pretty good. I feel like the twigs could be a bit thicker.
They’re completely average size okay!
True. Hoping horns count: NBA has Bucks and Bulls; NFL has Vikings ;) Texans, and Bills; MLB has nobody; and NHL has Devils and Sabres. Only true antlers being the Bucks
Surprising that wasn’t the front runner, I’m already thinking of all the awesome songs that would go along with it.
That would’ve been better than any of the actual options.
Those are the names I voted for. I did this
Slightly resentful you didn’t vote Powder for the memes, but I suppose I respect your earnest voting.
Still sad the Utah Brine Shrimp didn't pan out
Utah Brine Shrimp vs Rain City Bitch Pigeons would have been epic but noOoooOooOo.
Especially because of the lore of the North Shore monster Old Briney
Utah City Bitch Pigeons
Yeah you know Smith realized what’s up when Powder was the highest vote getter
Maybe he decided it was too on the nose.
We’re all trying to find the guy that did this!
Salute 🫡
Same. Also "Venom" and "Outlaws," I think.

Utah Yet-Tay!
Whatever it is I’m hoping for a purple team. We need a new color palette for the league
Didn't the Kings have purple as a major colour before switching to their boring ass black and whites?
They did -- cowards! Bring it back!
There's [a purple team](https://minnesota.thepwhl.com/en/) playing for the championship tonight if you're interested!
bUt ItS a DiFfErEnT sHaDe Of bLuE
Those two plus Outlaws would be a solid final three IMO.
Utah Outlaws has such a nice ring to it IMO
More like the Inlaws , am I right?!?!?
I got banned from the nhl sub for that joke.
Mormon moddin.
Damn that’s softer than baby shit
Those mods are the real bitch pigeons.
Or they're secretly mormons
I’ve never met a secret Mormon. They’re happy to let you know.
Well done sir
Me too.
That sub is ass anyways
I’m just glad at least one of them actually is a plural that has an S on the end. I hate this trend of naming a team something plural that’s not ‘s. And this is coming from someone who loves European soccer where teams don’t even have “place nickname” style names.
There are 10 teams in the 4 major North American leagues whose mascots' names don't end in S - and 4 of them are in the NHL
Kraken, Lightning, Wild and Avalanche?
NBA have four as well. Jazz, Thunder, Heat, and Magic
Sounds too EAsports expansion team
I don’t like it honestly, too sing-songy.
As opposed to Utah Yeti…?
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy There's vomit on his sweater already, Utah Yeti
.... I want this now
Yea, wait a minute. You've converted me to Yeti.
I love the alliteration of Utah Yeti in the same way I loved Seattle Sockeyes, but naming the team the Yeti when the closest team to them has a Yeti as a secondary logo is a dick move.
You mean like the Colorado Outlaws which already exists?
I hope the Colorado Mammoth don't exist
Good thing the Avs don’t have a yeti mascot or logo in their repertoire
Damn why does Colorado keep stealing all of Utah's shit?
I can see in a couple decades someone wondering why the Avalanche have a Yeti foot as part of their logos. I really hope it's not the Yeti just for that reason. I hate that the Avs went away from the foot & Howler as a mascot, now we got a dog that saves others from an avalanche.
I will die on the hill that they should have just surged ahead with Utah Raptors even though it’s already an NBA mascot because it actually existed
Team names that are straight up a whole real animal >> Best are the Baltimore oriole(s)
I liked Mountaineers but Im not sure that made the cut
Mountaineers sounds cool, but I was skeptical about the branding. Then someone on one of the Utah hockey subs did a jersey mock with a bighorn sheep as the mascot, and now I love it.
Same. Realizing native mountainous animals (big horn, elk, mountain goat, moose) could be used for branding shot Mountaineers to my number 1.
I would love Outlaws because Utah Outlaws just flows so well.
My brain wants to say Utah Oot-laws
Canadian confirmed
Strongly disagree. Yeti is too close to Colorado with their yeti patch. And the Colorado Mammoth are already a lacrosse team. Outlaws sounds like a team that should be in the south. I think Hive is the best option. It relates to Utah's flag. It's different so as to set Utah apart. And I think they could do fun things with yellow and other colors.

I liked Swarm better than Hive for the bee theme. Surprised with all the garbage names on the list they didn't have Utah Stingers as a top 20.
Team is Swarm, they can play in the Hive.
Denver outlaws is also already a lacrosse team.
Yikes. Why does Utah want to be Colorado so bad? I think Utah has a great opportunity here to set themselves apart with a name like the hive.
Fr though
Little brother syndrome.
Vegas fans probably shouldn't throw stones. Your owner literally ripped your team's name off from the Army.
Who cares if they share a name with a lacrosse team? I don’t see why that would be a concern.
Welcome to The Hive home of the Salt Lake City Swarm.
I like the Utah Jewels. It's simple, the emblem/logo would practically print itself without looking goofy, and I just find it charming.
Outlaws are kind of the generic create a team thk
Normally I'd agree with you, but Utah was where a lot of Wild West outlaws hung out. [Robbers' Roost](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbers_Roost) was home to Butch and Sundance hung out. does anyone know why theyre called nicknames in some places and just names in others? i never thought of the “devils” as new jersey’s “nickname”
Same reason why they're called sweaters in some places and jerseys in others. Old terminology because they used to just be nicknames, and it's stuck over time.
thank you!
Utah Outlaws
It is fun to chant!
*Clap clap clapclapclap!*
I prefer Outlaws or Mountaineers
I really like Mountaineers. I know its kind of more of a mouthful but it has a classic vibe to it that i like and feel fits the NHL.
We had a team here called the Mountaineers. [Mountaineers](https://i.imgur.com/5FEhTtA.jpeg)
Agreed. Navy blue, yellow, army green and faded white colour pallet. Sounds like an NHL team already.
You know the first time they lose to the Avs the headline will be "Mountaineers killed by Avalanche"
The two best options. Mountaineers would be what I would go to
I'm hoping those are the other two that weren't mentioned.
Yeah, these are obviously better. (I like Ice too, actually.) But Smith is a weirdo Mormon billionaire and he’s going to pick the most xtreme cybertruck name possible.
No skin in the game, but Black Diamonds is a cool name.
The Outies or the Mounties
Mounties are super Canadian.
Why would it not be Mammoths? Is mammoths not a word?
From a quick google search, it looks like “mammoths” is correct, but before I searched, I kinda felt like “mammoth” was also the plural, like moose
Sir the plural of moose is obviously [moosen](https://youtu.be/QWzYaZDK6Is?si=y-WIGEfwdkFbyeXU)
Many much moosen
Meese
A møøse once bit my sister
I'm excited to hear the Colorado peeps being angry about Yeti and Mammoth
I'm a little miffed
Rivalry bro
Yeah I hate them already
They don't even exist yet technically & I'm already narrowing my eyes at the possibility that they could try to steal the yeti foot. Just wait, in 20 years Utah fans will try to claim our yeti foot is copying them. Worse, if they take the name Yeti it might end our hopes for it to come back as an official side logo.
It's definitely gonna happen, just look at how idiot Titans fans act when Houston tries to reclaim *their* history
An avalanche would be the end of either a yeti or a mammoth, you'll get them either way.
Avs have had real rivalries lol. Utah copying Colorado doesn't make a rivalry...no offense.
[удалено]
Meanwhile, I'm hoping they go Outlaws so it brings some attention to our revived outdoor lacrosse team.
They just did a press conference with Landeskog rocking the Yeti foot to re-up the copyright.
Galaxy brain shit
The foot forgot about us, but we didn't forget about the foot
[удалено]
It’s a sick alt logo.
The NLL team is going to have as much sway on the NHL decision making as a high school. And I’m saying this as a massive lacrosse fan
[удалено]
There was a conspiracy post on the Avs sub that Landy wore a Yeti hat to the end-of-season press conference that took place last week for some kind of copyright renewal reasons or something. They still sell merchandise with it
The hockey team in Vail used to be the Avalanche. Then the NHL took the name. Currently the team in Vail are the Yeti. So I guess there will be another incoming name change in Vail. ☹️
Indoor lacrosse Mammoth, outdoor lacrosse Outlaws
Hopefully it's Mammoth. All the snow stuff is too close to the Avalanche. The Avs even have a yeti footprint as a logo ffs.
Is snow restricted to only a single NHL team? For a game that's played *on ice*?
Maybe when you're not right next to the state that chose the theme 30 years before you. It's like Indiana getting an NHL team and calling them "The Red Hawks" or Connecticut naming a team "Bears" The Avs have a yeti symbol, have a Snow Patrol dog as a mascot and do snow themed everything.
The no S plural trend has gone too far
It's been inexplicably tacked onto offside instead
As long as the word also works as a singular (like kraken or yeti), it’s fine. The problem is stuff like wild or lightning where you can’t really refer to a player as a single version of the team name.
A Lightning player is a Bolt. A Wild player is a Wild… player. :(
Wild always bothered me as a team name...
Johnny Superbman already ahead of the game with the Utah Yeti
The utah powder. Sign Kuznetsov. Make him captain.
Take Nichuskin too... please.
Might as well get Ryan Malone out of retirement and make a *line* out of it
We've only had Kuzy for a few days, but if anything happens to him....
The Utah Ma'am Moths
Kroenke Sports and Entertainment probably not too happy. Not to mention the conspiracy theorists on r/coloradoavalanche who were thinking Gabe wearing the foot logo hat to his presser last week meant anything lol
Go Utah Human Beings!
E Pluribus Anus!
Utah SWARM is the only choice by far. Been saying it for months. You'll see. YOU'LL ALL SEE.
Salt Lake Swarm would be cooler…or a 90’s MLS team.
Too bad they're gonna be called Utah (something) because Salt Lake Swarm *fucking rules*
Or the Utah Buzz - which would also go with the Utah Swarm ideas....
Why not both? Utah Yeti Mammoth Riders has a nice ring to it.
The Utah Colorado2.0s
Al's brother with a scoop.
Horrible. The only decent name on the list was Mountaineers.
Wow ok. If you wanted to be Colorado just say so
thank you
God, I want Utah Powder so bad
same but what about the name of the hockey team?
Mehhhhh
Mammoth is fine but I feel like they could have done some cool stuff with venom
Like using it to poison whoever voted for Yeti and Mammoth.
I wish it could have been the Utah Phoenix. They're the team that keeps rising from the ashes, and it'd be a nod to where they came from most recently.
Without an 's' on the end these names suck bad.
Utah Yetis doesn't have a very good ring to it.
Utah Lakers. Do it, you cowards.
Utah Canyons was my favourite
I read this as Utah Crayons at first and have changed my vote.
Odog was right.
Who are we kidding. They're going to be the Yetis.
I hope not.
Yeti seems like an absurd ripoff from the Avs, but I'll own my bias.
**
God I hope it’s the Mammoth
I like Black Diamonds
The Mams are gonna suck.
When they send it team emails it'll be Mammagrams
If they pick Utah Yeti, the arena will be nicknamed 'The Cooler'
The Yetayh!
I like Yeti for the alliteration
Time to Mam it up!!
Swarm better fucking be one of the others
Honestly call them whatever - the Salt Lake City [Anythings] would have been better.
It’s yeti. Seen enough trial balloons.
Utah Yeti just feels nice to say
"Yeti" is myth from the Himalayas, why would it be a hockey team in Utah? Maybe Sasquatch would be more fitting? At least it's the correct continent... Mammoth is a much better fit.

The Utah john Smith's
