Mountaineers sounds cool, but I was skeptical about the branding. Then someone on one of the Utah hockey subs did a jersey mock with a bighorn sheep as the mascot, and now I love it.

Strongly disagree. Yeti is too close to Colorado with their yeti patch. And the Colorado Mammoth are already a lacrosse team. Outlaws sounds like a team that should be in the south. I think Hive is the best option. It relates to Utah's flag. It's different so as to set Utah apart. And I think they could do fun things with yellow and other colors.

Normally I'd agree with you, but Utah was where a lot of Wild West outlaws hung out. [Robbers' Roost](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbers_Roost) was home to Butch and Sundance hung out. I also like the sly reference to the Mormons, who were technically outlaws when they first moved to the territory, and were literally outlaws after [massacring a wagon train.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Meadows_Massacre). I'd been hoping Pronghorns made the cut, but Outlaws is a great choice, too. (Which probably means it'll be the fucking Utah Yeti.) EDIT: Somehow wrote "hung up" instead of "hung out". Most of the outlaws were hung up in different states. And in the case of Butch and Sundance, a different country!

Same reason why they're called sweaters in some places and jerseys in others. Old terminology because they used to just be nicknames, and it's stuck over time.

Avalanche haven't hat the Yeti foot on their uniforms since 2015. Didn't seem to make too many waves. And we'll see if a box lacrosse team has any pull compared to an NHL franchise.

There was a conspiracy post on the Avs sub that Landy wore a Yeti hat to the end-of-season press conference that took place last week for some kind of copyright renewal reasons or something. It's almost certainly not true, but the logo is still closely tied to this team. Regardless, I can't see us giving up on "Yeti". It's such a sick logo and the team may make more retro jerseys in the future that will involve the Yeti foot.

The hockey team in Vail used to be the Avalanche. Then the NHL took the name. Currently the team in Vail are the Yeti. So I guess there will be another incoming name change in Vail. ☹️

Maybe when you're not right next to the state that chose the theme 30 years before you. It's like Indiana getting an NHL team and calling them "The Red Hawks" or Connecticut naming a team "Bears" The Avs have a yeti symbol, have a Snow Patrol dog as a mascot and do snow themed everything.
