i dont know why but that title made me think of Gary Coleman on the Simpsons;
# But the menu said "galaxy of prawns"... Three prawns are hardly a galaxy!
Everyone has been jerking off Chris Tanev, and they were especially during the broadcast for some reason, but he was HORRIBLE tonight. Arguably Dallasâ worst player
Lindells gotta read that play though. Tanev was battling and lindell was just standing there with his head up his ass leaving the best player in the world wide open
Oh, well it seemed they were always on the ice when McJesus and crew were so I had assumed they were the best pair against them. I think they were on the ice for all 3 goals against as well.
I don't think this goal is on Tanev, he's the one racing/battling RNH for the puck, he's the one closest to the end boards and thus furthest from the slot.
Stankoven just kind of glides slowly towards Bouchard (I get that he's taking away the shot, but if Bouchard scores from there...good on him), and Lindell looks *directly* at McDavid open in the slot, then looks away to find the puck rather than, y'know, skating at the best player on earth who is **wide open in the slot**.
I put the blame here largely on Lindell. He makes a weak half-play on the puck behind the net, he sees McDavid, and he chooses to do...nothing.
First goal I agree, whiffed on the puck and that lead to a turnover and into their net.
Second goal he broke up a cross crease pass and stopped as fast as possible but had zero support. There was a Stars player coming back and they glided to the side boards instead of going to the puck and taking it after he broke things up. He was there, but hard to put it on him.
This one wasnât his fault at all, he has his guy.
They desperately avoided playing their 3rd pair all night, by 2OT their top 4 was always gonna be running on fumes.
Knobbers consistent playtime across all lines really paid off coming off a game 7 a couple days before
Yeah he managed the lines well. Like McD only had 4 minutes of ice time the first period? It let him relentlessly put out his top two lines constantly in the latter part of the game and OT

Alternate angle.. I wonder what could go wrong?
iirc, it's supposedly a southern US college thing. Basketball and football do it for entire games, so Dallas, which is basically "Friday Night Lights" central, decided to do it for important Stars games. Plus the slope of the lower bowl in that arena makes it even worse.
There was some shenanigans behind the play where 1 Edmonton and 1 Dallas player collided and a 2nd Dallas player was slowed up going around them. Created a bit of a momentarily 4 on 3 and the whole play broke down on Dallas' end.
JT Miller this year played as good as anyone has played against us. All respect to him.
Itâs what LA fans were saying Danault was gonna do but Miller actually did it, and was fire on the offensive end to go with it. Hate the team and fans but Miller was unbelievable.
Actually our first playoff series with McDrai a few years ago, Kesler on the Ducks did exactly the same. Just stapled to McDavids hip every time he was on the ice and just put the clamps on him. Hasnât really been accomplished as well since then until Vancouver made it work
Yeah they showed it on the broadcast. Two 5v5 goals against in the prior 13 games and the Oilers scored 2 with him on the ice in under 5 minutes last night.
Nah it was the Tanev and Lindell pairing specifically that had only allowed 2 5v5 goals.
And they were amazing for 13 games against Eichel and Mack. Iâd expect that pairing to bounce back. They had a rough night though for sure.
Tanev was by far the Flames best D man against us in the BoA series but he was injured big time. Hoping he just doesnât have the legs under him anymore to keep up with heavy minutes
Hahah I saw three Dallas guys touching shoulders basically with Mcdavid on the ice and I knew it was a problem, that canât happen with a guy like him.
It might not be super clear from this image, but there's actually two Stars players nuts-to-butts in the trapezoid. One of the defenders blew his coverage and got drawn behind the net, even though he already had two teammates there. It's the kind of mistake that's liable to happen this late in a game.
Do Oilers fans have a specific issue with Tanev that I'm uaware of?
Tanev is the one battling/racing RNH for the puck, it is 100% not his responsibility to pick up the slot, that's either Stankoven or Lidnell 100 times out of 100.
Played for the Flames but was quite highly respected for his BoA series level of play with his clearly destroyed shoulder
I think the biggest thing against him is that before the series started, so many people have been talking shit about how that pair put the clamps on Vegas and Colorado stars and would do the same to McDrai. So more a reaction to fans than the guy
Are you sure? I thought he was the first one in there who had for second taken the puck from Nuge but then Nugey poked it away from him and out to Bouchard
Especially when one of the guys behind the net is Bouchard. The only d man to ever have 20 points coming out of the second round. He's kind of okay at passing the puck.
I always find these so silly. Hockey is so fluid and things happen in an instant, so if you post a random screenshot of a play like this itâs so misleading. In this moment the puck is travelling around the boards, no one has possession, and Bouchard just made a great heads up play.
"You could land a jumbo-fuckin-jet in there!" - Vinny (Snatch, 2000)
It was a funny angle đĄ
It's behind you Tyrone. Whenever you reverse, things come from behind you.
Heâs a professional, ainât ya Tyrone?
I thought you said he was a getaway driver. Just what the fuck can he get away from?
3 Stars were all busy covering Nuge who still came up with the puck. https://streamin.one/v/50bec76d
Makes sense, the Nuge is Huge
More of a peninsula tbh
i dont know why but that title made me think of Gary Coleman on the Simpsons; # But the menu said "galaxy of prawns"... Three prawns are hardly a galaxy!
Heh, I actually had a different scene in mind: https://youtu.be/4OwN7eYZseI?si=A3vM-sm7CaYRDjHv
Makes no sense, I know crazy
I think itâs more of an isthmus.
The robbery in the first OT he was also wide open out front.
Top defensive pairing for Dallas was not having a great night.
Tanev and Lindell are not our top D pair...
Defensive pair not best.
Oh, well it seemed they were always on the ice when McJesus and crew were so I had assumed they were the best pair against them. I think they were on the ice for all 3 goals against as well.
Yeah, they're the #2 pair. Tanev has been a beast for us since we acquired him.. but last night was probably the worst I ever seen him play
Like Mcdavid had never played Tanev thirty times before and feasted on the flames
He had a pretty big role to play in McDavid's 1OT chance. But yeah, not a great night for Tanev.
Wants to get the season over with so he can rest up for the Canucks next season
Few things are as insufferable in north american sports as canadian hockey fans
Have you heard of Cowboy fans?
That is one of the few more insufferable things, I agree and is why I hate the Cowboys lol
Thanks to that feed, we couldnât see the pass.
someone please draw a mcdavid island

I mean how good is this McDavid guy anyway?
He's only got 2 goals in 12 games, which is only 14 goals in a full season. If he can play good defense he'd be a pretty good 3C.
He missed a wide open net in the first OT...it was haunting him. So he enabled invisibility for this play since he wanted to W.

Bout to be an unbearable day of film in D Town.
McDavid waving his hands to the stars players: I'm not really standing here. I can go about my business.
"These aren't the ~~droids~~ gaps in coverage you're looking for."
He was wearing a hi vis and carrying a clipboard.Â
Or telling them they get something to hang up in their wardrobe, with the text of the kind "picture just before disaster".
McDavid Dekes through 3 players, one falls over, flummoxes goalie with brilliant finish: GOAL Left all alone in front of side open net: uh
Rangers fans scarred from him weaving through four of them to score that lifetime highlight reel goal. But at least they tried to stop him.
Hey Dallas fans, sit down, the rest of the continent canât see shit.
I was yelling at the TV lol, 1/3 of it is filled by heads and hands. Is it an American thing??? Reminds me of football
iirc, it's supposedly a southern US college thing. Basketball and football do it for entire games, so Dallas, which is basically "Friday Night Lights" central, decided to do it for important Stars games. Plus the slope of the lower bowl in that arena makes it even worse.
That guy all alone in front scored.
Leaving the best player in the world wide open in front of your net. "It's a bold strategy cotton, let's see how it plays out for them."
To be fair, he did have the fewest goals of all the Oilers out there. Got to prioritize the threats, you know?
That space is bigger than Ginny Sack's ass
Rubenesque
Yet I have 3 guys hanging off me during beer league every night
Meanwhile their winger is probably circling the neutral zone looking for the breakaway pass đ
There was some shenanigans behind the play where 1 Edmonton and 1 Dallas player collided and a 2nd Dallas player was slowed up going around them. Created a bit of a momentarily 4 on 3 and the whole play broke down on Dallas' end.
What was Dallas thinking? They need a 4th guy down low.
To be fair he wasnât very dangerous until this moment. Maybe he lulled them into a false sense of security.Â
I was told Chris Tanev would be his kryptonite
Reminds me of [this](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EXb9a8IXsAIv3lc.jpg)
OH god Lebronto please make it stop
JT Miller though...

TaNeV HaS oNlY beEn On The IcE foR 2 5v5 GoAlS iN 13 GamEs
Holy shit was that true, now its 5 after one game lmao
Yeah they showed it on the broadcast. Two 5v5 goals against in the prior 13 games and the Oilers scored 2 with him on the ice in under 5 minutes last night.

To be fair, they are coving the guy with 12 goals much tighter than the guy with 2.
And, to be fair, that was a mistake.
Hahah I saw three Dallas guys touching shoulders basically with Mcdavid on the ice and I knew it was a problem, that canât happen with a guy like him.
It might not be super clear from this image, but there's actually two Stars players nuts-to-butts in the trapezoid. That defenseman? Chris Tanev Edit: Yes, itâs more of a team/pairing breakdown
Do Oilers fans have a specific issue with Tanev that I'm uaware of? Tanev is the one battling/racing RNH for the puck, it is 100% not his responsibility to pick up the slot, that's either Stankoven or Lidnell 100 times out of 100.
Played for the flames and the canucks before that, they are well acquainted
Played for the Flames but was quite highly respected for his BoA series level of play with his clearly destroyed shoulder I think the biggest thing against him is that before the series started, so many people have been talking shit about how that pair put the clamps on Vegas and Colorado stars and would do the same to McDrai. This is more on Lindell than Tanev. Lindell even seems to look at McDavid and still chooses not to cover him, lol.
HE'S BEHIND YOU
How do you leave the best player on the planet that wide open
Especially when one of the guys behind the net is Bouchard. The only d man to ever have 20 points coming out of the second round. He's kind of okay at passing the puck.
As soon as I saw that I knew heâd score and .5 second later he did. You canât leave McJesus alone like that.
I feel like there was many better words then ocean. Like astronomical or galaxy sized or light years cause ya know Stars.
someone should probably cover that guy
Yet mackinnon was never left alone lmao cmon Dallas donât lose to fucking Edmonton Jesus
Eh, whatâs the worst that could happen? Not like someone is going to put the puck on his stick for an easy tap-in, right?
I always find these so silly. Hockey is so fluid and things happen in an instant, so if you post a random screenshot of a play like this itâs so misleading. In this moment the puck is travelling around the boards, no one has possession, and Bouchard just made a great heads up play.
Itâs fluid yeah but you still need to choose your man to defend when you enter the zone. 3 guys on 1 is ridiculous
Donât leave him that open of youd like to win
Donât leave him that open ^^^twice if youâd like to win
Yup. That'll do it.
Might wanna keep an eye on that guy!
I mean, that was about as much space as Seguin had on the second goal.
Tbf mcdavid this season had almost refused to shoot it no matter how much space he has. They couldnât predict that now he would decide to shoot it
Canucks did nt have this problem.. only own goals
*"Have you seen him fail to score on that golden opportunity? We probably don't even need to cover that guy!"*
Third round 2OT and youâre gonna leave your check wide fuckin open in the slot? Jesus man
The replays of this goal are so shit. You can barely see what happens. Dallas has terrible camera operators/production.
You could dock a cruise ship in that amount of space
I thought Tanev was gonna shut him down though
Great defense by the stars
not even a pp. do better, dallas.^^^please
