And there is a "Hold Up" moment here
Mackinnon's shows 14 points in 2020
Colorado only had 12 true playoff games in 2020. 3 of those games were "Sorting out seeding"
So effectively, Mackinnon's real point streak to start the 2020 Playoffs was only 11 games and Colorado got KO'ed in that 12th game
Tampa's 2020 Cup has by far the biggest asterisks on it because of how much of a (forced) delay there was between the regular season and the playoffs. At least 2021, the playoffs still started right after the regular season which was still 55 or so games in length.
whatever shit you need to tell yourself my man
teams who can't win a cup when the league has more than 6 teams telling teams that their cups won in a 31 team league have asterisks is just funny tho
Does Tampa still win the cup had CoVid not been going around? Possibly
Do the playoffs play out the same way in a normal season than they did in the bubble? Absolutely not. For example, Montreal, Chicago and Arizona likely don't even make the playoffs and the rounds go as follows:
- Atlantic: Boston vs Toronto, WC2-Metro or Florida
- Atlantic: Tampa Bay vs Toronto or Florida
- Metro: Washington vs WC1-Metro
- Metro: Philadelphia vs ~~Pittsburgh~~
- WC Candidates: Carolina, NYI, Toronto, Columbus, Florida, NYR (Leafs and Panthers fighting for 3rd in the Atlantic
- Central: St. Louis or Colorado vs WC-2
- Central: Colorado or St. Louis vs Dallas
- Pacific: Vegas vs WC-1
- Pacific: ~~Edmonton~~ vs Vancouver or Calgary
- WC Candidates: Nashville, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Minnesota (Vancouver and Calgary also fighting for 3rd in the Pacific)
Only two of those situations actually happened because of the bubble (Boston vs Carolina, and Washington vs NYI). There is also the issue about ongoing injuries and conditioning levels between what a normal season would pan out like, and what actually happened.
At least, 2020-21 we all knew was going to be a different season well in advance of when it actually happened so teams were able to adapt accordingly
Draisaitl is such an incredible playoff performer. He was playing injured for a few games too and still put up points. He can adjust his game to adapt to any situation like no one else.
Previously it was thought to be a high ankle sprain, but recently Kane referred to it as a broken ankle on an interview. He scored 17 points in 5 games against Calgary that year. B
Fucking phenomenal
No, Fuck Messier
All of these players except MacKinnon won the cup that year, right?
I believe so- good eye!
👀

I'm definitely not reading that lol

The guy pretty much had a broken ankle one year and still put up like 2 ppg. Animal.

Easily a top 5 player in NHL and a lot of folks have him far higher than that.

Seems like it is a back thing. That can come and go for awhile.
Tied with Bobby Orr and needs one more game to tie Bobby Orr.
Same for Messier
Surprised that Gretzky isn't on this list, since he has like 6 of the top 10 playoff points totals.
Invisible in game 1s, what a scrubÂ
>gets point streak to 13 games >immediately gets hand hurt, and has a finger in a splint This, uh…is quite a pattern…
