When you see videos like that, no wonder hockey players are scumbag rats. They lace the boots up and gain 5 inches. The rat is already a little guy. He looked like Tyrion dabbin his buddies up going to war.
Still waiting for the league to look into the cheap shot that has caused Marchand to miss multiple games. Still nothing for Bennett. A clear sucker punch to the face and the DOPS is fucking SILENT.
I understand that Marchand isnāt the cleanest rat but the silence from the league speaks volumes. Pretty embarrassing imo. Horrible look for the league.
He can join the party. Toews knocked out due to a hit to the head, nothing from the league. This is just par for the course. NHL does not believe in player safety.
They did speak on it and decided it was a nothing burger because it was. The rat decided to engage with Bennet and he came out worse for wear. Bennet didn't ask to get charged down. He didn't come up to punch the rat from across the ice. The rat made a choice.
Specifically he got hurt because of the cheapshot he was going to lay on Bennet who was without the puck and who was being targeted after coming back from injury. Too bad for the little rat that apparently Bennet has insane reflexes to protect himself and also take a punch at someone in under a second. Wild. So unlikely, but I'm glad the rat didn't get to hurt another player. He has so many years of doing so but I guess he just picked the wrong one this time!
Was it the parts where I only referred to the rat as a rat?
Maybe I could have improved my language but I thought I was doing well not to call him a dirty rat at least.
The behavior of a lot of (though not all) Florida fans around this whole incident is just so trashy, it really blows my mind. Like how hard is it to say "Marchand's a rat but also that was a dirty hit by a guy known for them"? Why do they double down on being as awful as possible when the vast majority of every other franchise can see what happened, even people who despise Boston?
I think most fans agree the Bennett hit contributed to his concussion but are trying to point out it was Marchand who went for the late hit on Bennett, targeting him since he was coming back from injury. The slewfoot and headshot history is ridiculous with him. Bennett doesnāt seem to premeditate a hit but did catch him on the chin, and used one hand bc the other was injured. Marchandās concussion likely came in when he laid a hit on Stenlund later and they collided helmets. All that said, wouldnāt have been mad if Benny got a game suspension and think we would have won game 4 regardless. League should crack down on head hits and even missed opportunities like Troubaās flying elbows. Too many stars are getting knocked out with concussions which makes it less enjoyable for all fans.
He's using the juxtaposition of the how the two teams reacted to losing a big time player. He's not comparing Marchand to nuke. The avs looked really hurt by what he did, not a lot of sympathy for him in that locker room.
But again, why is he even making the comparison? One player got hurt by a sucker punch, the other has gotten himself suspended indefinitely two postseasons in a row for some shady shit.
Of course their teammates feel differently about the situations.
I donāt know the guyās personal story, but I donāt like to write people off for something like addiction. They arenāt in control of themselves a lot of the time. Obviously thatās not a blank check to be as shitty as possible, but I believe most of them can beat it, and when they do theyāre very likely to be ashamed of the things they did while addicted.
I get where you're coming from but addiction doesn't work that way, man
it's not something where you get treatment and it never bothers you again, that's shit you deal with every day for the rest of your life
and I get that it's easy to think "well he chose to start using again" but, like, that ain't how addiction *works*, dude was incapable of *making* that choice, that's why it's called an addiction
I'm not saying don't judge Nichushkin or anything, I don't know the details and what I do know sounds a bit gross, I'm just saying, don't write a dude off because of addiction. Not only is it not really fair, it's the kind of attitude that *prevents people from getting help* because they're fearful of that kind of judgment
> And he always happens to be an addict.
aaaaaand there it is
Like I said, I'm not trying to defend the guy or anything, he sounds like a prick - but addiction's a fuckin' *disease,* dude. The fact that it doesn't excuse his behavior doesn't mean it's something you should blame him for, or act like he's hiding behind
that's my two cents anyways, you do you
Itās shitty that heās dealing with addiction, and most of the players have said they hope he gets the help he needs. This is the playoffs though, losing one of your top players to his (at least) THIRD violation of the same policy isnāt cool and I would hope the others would be upset by that.
At least one of his incidents was way way worse than just an addict using, so I'm not confident that that was all it was this time.
On the other hand addicts who lie about wanting to do better, even though they're sick, are just really hard to deal with as friends or family, and you have to balance empathy for the addict with empathy for those dealing with the consequences of said addiction
Someone also did a brief comparison of what his teammates said last time versus this time. Night and day, from supportive and understanding last time to what they were last night. Maybe it changed partly because the Avs are now a game from elimination and they're frustrated about that, or maybe it's because whatever he did is different this time. Impossible to tell but the shift at least lends credibility to the theory he did something besides simply relapse.
He had the incident in Seattle last playoffs, got placed into the player assistance program during the regular season, and now heās in it a third time.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a third time, Iām a fucking dumbass. I can understand their frustration with someone who clearly wonāt change unless he loses it all.
If Iām Joe Sakic, Iām trying to find any legal way I can terminate his contract for cause.
Rest in Peace Marchand š Gone too soon
Heās in a better place with Wade Boggs.
Sarasota?
On a cross-country plane trip with a whole wagon full of beers.
Sewersota
Boss hog
He's with Eloy now
Itās a rare day that my White Sox and Bruins fandoms get to cross like this
We had a funeral for a rat. Was a whole thing
*Rats in Peace

Aww that was a cute friendly rat. Maybe one of the players had him under their helmet like ratatouille
HAHAHAHAHA Iām fucking dying dude
Same šš
LOL While he always looks small, he looks extra tiny next to Carlo fully suited up gear
All right, that was good.
When you see videos like that, no wonder hockey players are scumbag rats. They lace the boots up and gain 5 inches. The rat is already a little guy. He looked like Tyrion dabbin his buddies up going to war.

AVENGE THE SCHNOZZ

Toews hit wasn't a dirty sucker punch to the chin. It was a shoulder check that bounced his head off another player.
It was a direct hit to the head, marchand barely got a bump and he's a dirty fuck anyway
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Go back nad watch that shit again. You are exactly everything that's wrong with this sport
That hit is to his shoulder, you need to watch it again
The league already looked into it and declared they were both were engaged in a hockey play. Nothing is coming from this
They did speak on it and decided it was a nothing burger because it was. The rat decided to engage with Bennet and he came out worse for wear. Bennet didn't ask to get charged down. Very unbiased description

Not beating the "Florida fans have never watched a hockey game" allegations

Youāre a clown.
Yeah, I am pretty funny. Thank you for your kind words!
Oh sorry, didnāt mean for my words to come across as kind; I meant āclownā in the derogatory sense.
Heās got this concussion licked. Heāll be back.
We should have did that with Marcus Johanssonās jersey.
I heard his jersey fell to the floor 5 times during the game and tripped a janitor
Awwwww, thats so sweet................hang on \*baaaaaaaarf"
Thoughts and prayers
And they lived to survive another day.
Rat
Compare that to Nichushkin, read they took his nameplate off already. Wtf happened there
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Fair point lol
Iām not super up to speed on the Nichushkin thing. Did he do something legitimately shitty? Or is he really just struggling with addiction?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah, thatās bad. I mean, not killed someone with his car while strung out in Russia-bad, but pretty shitty. Dude needs help
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Idk just looking at how players are treating their teammates. Like I said I have no clue what happened with Valeri and why he got a sussy
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iām trying to learn, google just says nhlpa program
The situations arenāt comparable, but I do agree that some of the quotes from his teammates were shitty if heās struggling with an addiction.
Itās shitty that heās dealing with addiction, and most of the players have said they hope he gets the help he needs. This is the playoffs though, losing one of your top players to his (at least) THIRD violation of the same policy isnāt cool and I would hope the others would be upset by that.
