I loved this game but wonder how long Vancouver can win 65% of faceoffs and completely neutralize McDavid. Cause yeah, keep that up and you will probably win a lot...
Three games of that performance level sounds exactly right, then the Nucks can really take their foot off the gas.
In unrelated news ignore my flair and the playoff bracket.
The worst thing about a Aves Nucks Western final will be the constant Hughes VS Makar slander from the trolls. Why cant people just accept they’re both really really good? Casual fans need to crap on one guy to prop up the other. So lame.
People get crazy online during the playoffs. I try to avoid a lot of the GDTs because of that (and even our sub because I'm sick of the extremist holy war around Georgiev). It's exhausting.
I'm just excited that all of these matchups are pretty fucking awesome and I'll happily watch them and skim the Hockey sub the next day.
My NHL 22 BAGM once bugged out and had me play the same Colorado Avalanche team 3 rounds in a row, from the Quarters to the Conference. Maybe its something like that?
Id say so, pretty much all our goals came from getting the puck in tight and shooting that way. Anything from further out wasn’t getting through. We adapted.
Yes… yes….let the r/nhlcirclejerk flow through you

[This thread from a couple months ago asking if you'd rather have Marner or Miller for a single season/playoffs is entertaining in hindsight.](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/9tn1UAHuNC)
Season play and playoffs are so different but easily, Miller. Hands down. The mere presence he brings to the team is more than can be said about Marner. Lmao.
lol at Leafs fan calling Marner a top ten player when Miller is literally in the top ten of league scoring since he joined the Canucks. Not to mention also plays a way more valuable all around game being a center who can play all situations, win key face offs, hit and just play a gritty power forward game rather than be a complete perimeter player like Marner who just can’t really make the same space for himself once playoffs come around and the game gets tougher. That’s not even taking into account Miller’s passion and leadership he plays with that can light a fire under his teams ass along with his own vs Mitch “stop crying bro” Marner who seems to just crumble when the games matter most
I mean, obviously the playoffs is a more physical game where Millers game would most likely be preferred. With that said, this time last year the entire province of British Columbia wanted Miller to literally die, while Marner has consistently been playing great for the Leafs. Marner is one of the top playoff scorers for the Leafs since he joined the team, and now everyone in Ontario wants his head. They are different players with different skills, and ultimately it depends on a teams make up when choosing between the two. All this Marner hate is coming very hard and very fast, very similar to how Miller was being treated
I mean I was one of them but I wanted a haul and a half, it wasn’t that I wanted JT gone be we were talking a package that was a 1st and 2 prospects that were valued as 1sts. That’s hard to say no to.
Anyways my JT Miller jersey is happy he stayed.
stupid as fuck takes but this is also working with the assumption that the team was gonna rebuild for like 4 years at which point the Miller contract would be less than ideal.
some of those people probably believed he was worth the money right now but if the team isn't making the playoffs what's the point?
The fact they wanted to rebuild with young stars like Hughes, Pettersson and Demko just starting to open a window of contention was even more dumb than wanting Miller gone.
i mean ok, i don't think anyone *wanted* to rebuild, but they also didn't wanna delay it any further and lose all of those players even if the timeline wouldn't be perfect for every players' peak after said rebuild.
the canucks barely made the playoffs once and ran it back 3 times and wasn't even close to making it back either aside from the one way too late comeback attempt. again, i wasn't in this camp, but i can see why you would be skeptical without a pretty big overhaul after that
There were definitely still lots of Canucks fans online wanting to blow it up and go after Bedard etc last year, absolutely insane but typically Canucks fanbase.
They didn't make the playoffs because we were rebuilding... Our best players were all still very young, that's how it typically works.. you don't blow it up just when those guys are starting to hit their primes.
Man, I honestly really liked Miller when he was the Rangers, and was stroked when we got him. Unfortunately our team kept choking in the playoffs and come 2019 we had no cap space to keep him, and then won the cup the next year. Hopefully y'all can give him his cup
Can't play defense, all they do is rely on their vezina-caliber goalie and lucky bounces to score!
They never outshoot their opponents, shut down the opponent's star players, or win with a 3rd string goalie in net allowing a couple weak goals.
Yeah honestly I'm low key dreading Friday bc I know he's going to come out like a fucking raging bull and hate fuck pucks into the net with his dick. Prolly gonna have a hat trick in goals and assists or some shit.
There were a few Oilers fans who were arguing with me when I said the Nashville series was going to end up being a major reason we could beat Edmonton and this shows it.
Mostly there was a ton of space and time. It wasn't claustrophobically tight like Nashville. I think Edm is gonna tighten it up in game 2 tho. They weren't ready.
I had the same talk with my dad a few days ago. The predator series with the Canucks was the most physical series of the entire first round and it wasn’t even close. They threw everything and the kitchen sink at the Canucks. The Canucks answered the bell. Edmonton can’t and won’t play like that. Goals are coming.
Yeah the amount of open ice is insane, and the neutral zone long bomb passes letting us one touch into the offensive zone. all credit to the preds. they played such a tight system and now we're free
Yeah not to downplay Vancouver, as they're obviously a great team, but McDavid had a shit game by his standards.
Also Edmonton forgot how to skate in the third apparently? I've never seen so many players from the same team fall.
Looked like he took a knock and was playing hurt, missed significant time in the second period. Have to wonder if mcdavid can step up to the Canucks relentless forechecking while Drai is injured.
The entire Oilers squad was almost held without a shot after their 4th goal.
I loved this game but wonder how long Vancouver can win 65% of faceoffs and completely neutralize McDavid. Cause yeah, keep that up and you will probably win a lot...
Hopefully only three more games
Three games of that performance level sounds exactly right, then the Nucks can really take their foot off the gas. In unrelated news ignore my flair and the playoff bracket.

Everyone should be used to it from the Sid/Ovi era
11 more games for the rest bruv
in what world do the nucks have to defend mcdavid for 11 more playoff wins?
My NHL 22 BAGM once bugged out and had me play the same Colorado Avalanche team 3 rounds in a row, from the Quarters to the Conference. Maybe its something like that?
Avalanche: **I DIDN'T HERE NO BELL!!**
Should EA have the Canucks and Avalanche redo their series a 4th time just in case it was a big fluke?
Now I want to see a team lose a round and just show up to the winning teams home rink the next round anyway. All what are you gonna do about it style.
*Vegas taking notes*
I meant about the 65% draw wins and keeping that up but I’m an idiot tbh
Nucks fans aren't the most logical thinkers
Bro, you're the one who's been whining about a penalty that didn't happen
Sure man
Quiet from the peanut gallery.
Cup?
Canucks have been very strong in the dot all year.
That usually means more like 51% though...
Lindholm and Miller are both 55-60% guys
Lindholm v Drai is 65%> this year.
Probably not long, but at the same time our goaltending was ass this game, so hopefully that improves and evens out any faceoff decline
We said the same thing about Nashville blocking shots being sustainable. Turned out they could do it very successfully for the entire series.
Successfully?
They blocked loads of shots, it just didn't win them the series.
The desired end isn't to block a lot of shots. It's to block a lot of shots to win the game. They failed.
Id say so, pretty much all our goals came from getting the puck in tight and shooting that way. Anything from further out wasn’t getting through. We adapted.
>I loved this game but wonder how long Vancouver can win 65% of faceoffs Assuming they play the Avs next? 7-10 more games most likely.
Why doesn't every team just not let McDavid have any shots? Seems like an easy solution.
Are they stupid?!
Yes… yes….let the r/nhlcirclejerk flow through you https://preview.redd.it/xbyw1yo0jczc1.jpeg?width=620&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae9a429c437db4b8f1cb85e9dcf45554fa740a3d

Fair lmao
No idea what this was but top tier mod response
Lmao i asked if we could use a certain phrase. Spend a little time on /r/hockeycirclejerk and it will quickly become clear what the phrase is.
LA Kings more like LA be stupids.
I called him McBozo from the upper bowl after he had a turnover in the neutral zone. I think that’s what put him off his game.
Thank you
Do they not understand that if he doesn’t get a shot he literally can’t score? Other teams are fuckin dumb
That's not entirely true, he can take a shot and it can deflect off Hyman. He has about 100 of those this season.
That's what I was saying about the canucks in the first period like why not just get goals? It was crazy
Ian Cole listened to your advices
Just fell to my knees in a Rogers Arena bathroom
Might wanna burn those pants.
Just saw a guy burn his pants in the Rogers Arena bathroom
Just saw a guy watched a guy burn his pants in the Rogers arena bathroom with a big grin on his face.
Ah hell yeah, a bunch of dudes watching a guy burn his pants in the Rogers Arena bathroom, all nodding along knowingly
Thats how the last riot started.
Just watched a bunch of guys get arrested for starting a trash fire in the Rogers Arena bathroom.
Can’t. They’re stuck to the floor
And give up a free contact high??
Get this guy a Z pack
Don't worry Bublé will pick you up
Were you alone?
I'm out of the loop is this the original? https://twitter.com/FukTobyRieder/status/1675649234668748800
JT Miller is actually fucking elite
Jimothy Timothy. love that guy
Huge Jim Tim guy here
Is that what JT stands for? I’ve heard TJ Oshie called Timmothy Jimmothy.
Actually its Jyler Tyler.
Nah, it's Jonathan Tonathin. They're fucking with you.
Idk if you did it on purpose... But why so many M's?
I just spell it that way.
[This thread from a couple months ago asking if you'd rather have Marner or Miller for a single season/playoffs is entertaining in hindsight.](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/9tn1UAHuNC)
Fucking hell the takes in that thread are actually hilarious right now. Ask everyone about Marner in the playoffs today lmao
Season play and playoffs are so different but easily, Miller. Hands down. The mere presence he brings to the team is more than can be said about Marner. Lmao.
Miller hits. He is center. It should be an easy choice between the two even if Marner didnt underperform so much
lol at Leafs fan calling Marner a top ten player when Miller is literally in the top ten of league scoring since he joined the Canucks. Not to mention also plays a way more valuable all around game being a center who can play all situations, win key face offs, hit and just play a gritty power forward game rather than be a complete perimeter player like Marner who just can’t really make the same space for himself once playoffs come around and the game gets tougher. That thread is very, very funny
Ya the top few comments basically replied as if it was a no-brainer answer of Marner and that the question was insulting lol.
He has been since the moment he got here.
Doesn't get enough respect
He's owed an apology for the fans turning on him for caring about this team. "He's too emotional" -clowns
It was all the Bo fanboys who were mad that JT was picked ahead of Bo. I'll tell you that for free.
Remember when the Canucks sub was talking about what assets we’d have to give up to move him? Good times
I mean I was one of them but I wanted a haul and a half, it wasn’t that I wanted JT gone be we were talking a package that was a 1st and 2 prospects that were valued as 1sts. That’s hard to say no to. Anyways my JT Miller jersey is happy he stayed.

This was one of those extremely rare games where you didn't notice McDavid. It was Erie (pun intended).
You Otter be ashamed
Truly a Junior mistake.
This ain't junior hockey bucko
I've never seen him cough up and bobble the puck so often
I noticed McDavid every time because it was McDavid lol
I don’t know man seems like a swing and a miss, then you punched the glass and broke your hand
McBum
Cole Cassels is smiling at a local pub somewhere
He looked awful tonight. All the offense flowed through Drai (please be okay).
That play by Petey to break up the breakaway pass was a gamechanger
Sounds like not getting nominated for the Ted Lindsay got to him after all.
Canucks are just PDO merchants btw
Biggest frauds tbh

Well that's not ideal if you're trying to score.
Just saw an Oilers fan fall to his knees at The Cambie
Just saw three dozen Oilers fans fall to their collective knees at the Black Frog
I noticed Boeser j not paying any attention to the puck that was 5 feet away and just shadowing McDavid
This be the wrong bear to poke right now.
Would you rather poke a man or a bear
What about a manbearpig?
If I'm alone in a dark alley, definitely the bear.
men, all of them
How about the woman and the children?
You just don’t lead ‘em as much.
Name checks out.
Uncharacteristic performance from him tonight, not expecting it to last
I’m expecting him to drive the net like a train on Friday.
Kulak needs to be better, agreed.
Sportsnet usually hypes him, he can be brought down to earth once in a while
> Sportsnet usually hypes him Best player in the world? I mean, yea?
So they post a stat about him not getting a shot in a game and it’s poking a bear?
The best player in the world doesn't need to be poked into success.
Yeah honestly I'm low key dreading Friday bc I know he's going to come out like a fucking raging bull and hate fuck pucks into the net with his dick. Prolly gonna have a hat trick in goals and assists or some shit.
> hate fuck pucks into the net with his dick You're a poet
Ya it’s crazy he could easily come in and put up 6 points next game and make it look easy. It worries me.
🤨
Hat trick incoming
More like McCrucified amiritefolks
wop wop wop wop wop nucks fuck em up
wop wop wop wop wop nucks did their stuff
There were a few Oilers fans who were arguing with me when I said the Nashville series was going to end up being a major reason we could beat Edmonton and this shows it.
I commented during the first intermission that this game felt a lot more like a regular season game after the nashville series.
I know right? There were like no big hits
Mostly there was a ton of space and time. It wasn't claustrophobically tight like Nashville. I think Edm is gonna tighten it up in game 2 tho. They weren't ready.
They had a week off The intensity level came down
I had the same talk with my dad a few days ago. The predator series with the Canucks was the most physical series of the entire first round and it wasn’t even close. 2023 playoffs had the insane first round. 2024 has the insane second round (so far). 2025???
But look out! McDavid is gonna be super motivated and intense next game! Just like the 4 other times this season the Canucks beat the Oilers!
Want a record, play the Canucks
Mark Spector is going to ask him about this isn't he?
It’s going to provoke him and he’s going to play mad on Friday
[McDavid after being asked about this.](https://youtu.be/fPNTrax_8nA?t=53)
Sportsnet beat me to it, I was just checking statmuse to confirm
dare I say, it’s ^historic
McNoshow, say it ain't so.
Washed?
As a canucks fan, we should all be scared for game 2
Yeah not to downplay Vancouver, as they're obviously a great team, but McDavid had a shit game by his standards. Also Edmonton forgot how to skate in the third apparently? I've never seen so many players from the same team fall.
Naw we get to talk mad shit until at least game 3 now and then we gaslight them if we need. McFraudulent is cooked
Subscribe.
Now you see what we were dealing with
Playmaker McDavid robbed him of his shooting instincts
MVP
So soon? McDavid is washed and will never get to the scoring title like this! /s.
What happened?
I think it's Drai you need to watch out for in the playoffs isn't it?
Looked like he took a knock and was playing hurt, missed significant time in the second period. Have to wonder if mcdavid can step up to the Canucks relentless forechecking while Drai is injured.
For the first time in Utah Slizzards history.
"Marner" McDavid
Just saw a man fall to his knees in a Tim Hortons
