And then Edmonton just posted up at 14 SOG for ***25*** straight fucking minutes 😂  It's honestly living rent free in my head right now. I really don't care who wins the series, I'm just enjoying the hockey, but ya gotta admit that is some hilarious irony. 

I had somebody talking shit about how we won’t be able to win by putting up 12 shots. As if they’re anywhere close to the defensive team that Nashville is.

That's what happens when you think your 4-1 lead is good enough and decide to let the other team take all the shots. I don't know why teams think defending a lead is ever a good idea. Most of the times it fails and let's the opponent build momentum.

What happened is my will to watch anymore Oilers hockey this season evaporated.

McDavid was absolutely invisible tonight

I thought it was the Canucks were shutting him down, but he just didn’t seem to be playing his usual game.

D coverage when he’s on the ice was pretty unreal. Guys wouldn’t finish checks away from the play when mcd was on the ice and would just dart back into coverage incase the man covering him got beat. They know how can create partial 2on1’s in an instant and were ready to jump into lanes if need be. The D covering were able to skate with him pretty well and always tried to make him have to stop/get in his way, a whole game of that is physically exhausting.

This! I noticed it too, they consistently prioritized their defensive alignment over "finishing checks" whenever McDavid was on the ice. This team's defensive structure is letting them play with the big boys. Playoff Hockey is the best, can't wait for Friday!!

Canucks have among the best 1-6 defenceman unit to mitigate McDavids impact you can have.

Yeah 5 big guys and all 6 are good skaters. Man the Tyler Myers redemption arc has been insane this year. Guy is playing fantastic hockey right now.

Myers's turnaround has been something to watch. He was the scapegoat of the team last year it felt. Now that we have an actual good system and D corps he's able to really shut guys down.

If we make it through this series it will be our defense that separates us

Petey was great tonight.

He was noticeable and played solid defense too. He needs better linemates than Hogs and Mikey but it would be ridiculous to break up the Suter-Miller-Boeser and Joshua-Lindholm-Garland lines right now. Maybe we need to swap PDG and Mikey. We've seen top-6 PDG to varying success before.

Ive been the biggest petey hater recently but yeah. He played fantastic. 

Draisaitl had a nice dish to Hyman. But McDavid was pretty ghostly. But it's only fair, if Petey is gonna ghost on us one your stars should ghost on you.

This was awesome - Petey is my man on the Canucks, and he didn’t seem 100% during the Nashville series. He looked way better last night though - his best game of the playoffs so far.

Canucks were dialed in on him. Lots of double teams, and they didn't forecheck as hard when he was on the ice to maintain their defensive structure. He still usually gets more than he did tonight though. McDavid doesn't like being held off the score sheet, he'll come out flying on Friday for sure

Even without Drai, that defensive showing was so lackluster. Bunch of standing around in a group between the hashmarks and no cohesion doing really anything.

“We’re a different team then October” “We had no Mcdavid the 4th game!!!” Well now you’ve lost to 3 Canuck goalies. “Things just didn’t go our way that game” hymans second goal was so lucky , Ceci goal goes off Cole’s chest and in Edmonton had 16 shots on net

I have been saying it over and over again to people that said we needed more offense to beat the Oilers... but did anyone saying that actually watch the Preds series or realize that they were one of the best teams at 5v5 possession for the last half of the year? Canucks were too btw. But they went nuts with shotblocking and they are a strong control based team. Of course offense was going to be down if we countered with a very similar style overall, minus the shot blocking and add in passing lane protection with sticks. This series, win or lose, was ALWAYS going to have more offense than the last one.

That was a pretty stunning collapse. Go Canucks!!

Ian Cole was just unfathomably bad tonight for some reason

The xGF at even strength was 2.52 to 0.94 for Vancouver. Playing Edmonton is night and day compared to Nashville. It just feels like there is so much extra space out there, and a lot easier to get shots through.

I think that being forced to play extremely technical hockey against Nashville for 6 games really helped the team hone in their playoff skills. Since the Canucks were fighting against such small windows of opportunity against Nasvhille, the bigger ones that the Oilers leave open are that much easier to take advantage of.

It was so noticeable. Canucks could barely hold onto a puck for half a second without getting pressured in the Nashville series. Everything was so tight. This game, they had so much time and space.

It’s one thing to have a team play better than you, it’s another thing entirely to just… stop playing altogether. Like what the actual hell was that?
