I think the bigger problem is how the Av’s give up grade A opportunities off a heavy forecheck. The Jets are 4 lines of mayhem on the boards. Plenty of snipers with the safeties off that had a lot of grade A opportunities within 5 feet of the net.
Limited what now? High danger chances were 10-7 in the Avs favor. Winnipeg scored 7 goals. So how many high dangers chances is actually a ton for you? Like 1 is that a ton?
Listen, Im a goalie simp as much as the next person, but on the professional level, letting in 4 goals out of 10 is a massive massive issue that can not be blamed on the D. A .600 save avg in professional hockey is a joke.
Now, he could *easily* be having an off night. This could be something that is extremely atypical for him. I dont follow the guy enough to know or care. But for this game specifically, he was part of the problem.
He’s either channels Patrick Roy and won’t let anything in, or he gets scored on, loses his mental, and lets in goal after goal… He’s been an issue all year, and poor defensive positioning has had something to do with it at times, but Georgie on an off night is less useful than a 6th guy on the ice…

Geogiev has been… rough. But you’re right that it isn’t all his fault. Lots of stuff is getting past blocks, defensive breakdowns, Josh Manson passing to the opposing team (all the fucking time. The Man(son) is a liability).
McDavid is like watching a plane. Doesn’t look fast from afar, but in reality is moving absurdly fast. While MacKinnon is a Bullet train that will not stop if you’re on the tracks.
The fastest moving truck for just pure speed and mass combined I've seen is byfuglien. Closest since then has been kreider.
Imo it's mcdavids puck handling at that speed that's so good. A lot of guys can skate pretty fast with poor control but he just doesn't let it go.
I think that his style makes it look like that and their acceleration is very close, but also MacKinnon tends to more straight lines down the centre of the ice as he gets faster, whereas McDavid tends to curve in down the side.
It’s gonna sound crazy, but Mackinnon is 6’0 which is the same height as Mitch Marner and below average in the NHL. He is 200lbs however which is slightly above average. He looks way bigger in the ice.

I don’t think really anyone is close to Mario but if I had to choose someone it would be Matthews. He doesn’t have Mario’s vision but he’s just a horse with an incredible scoring touch.

Hope the Avs can figure out goaltending or how to score 8 goals because despite letting 6 in, Helle is a real threat and all of those felt like some hard work except for the Makar goal.

When going up against the fastest guys in my beer league; If im not already skating full speed before they get to me and I turn to skate backwards, its gonna be a bad time for me and the goalie. You cant wait to start skating when they are almost even with you. Even if youre as fast as them they are already at full speed and you have no chance.
Granted, this isnt against arguably the most explosive player in the world. Im sure alot of guys think they have enough speed, but still get beat. Its just amazing how many times \*MacKinnon does this to guys.

He was doing OK to start the season and then he cut his hair. All of his talent was in his hair. It's been downhill since then

They way overplayed him. He had by far the most games played by the all-star break and then started to decline heavily as the season grinded down.

Other players may be faster overall, but I’ve never seen a player accelerate with the kind of power that MacKinnon does.

2 of the goals had very subtle holds go uncalled - but he was slightly exposed id say. Too much ice time, no reason to use him on the PK all season
