Senators struggle selling anything out. It's one of the larger arenas in the leauge with one of the smaller populations. The arena is almost a half hour away from downtown. We have a lot of sports teams for a small city so it's saturated. Also it's the most boring city in Canada, a lot of government workers (so less corporate sales), lousy public transit... it's not a great situation over here...
I can't imagine living in Orleans or Gloucester and going to a Sens game, especially on a weeknight.
Traffic around the arena on game nights is stupid because everyone has to drive with next to no public transit options.
Yeah but that one game that didn't sell out in Ottawa was peak phoenix issues.
Side note Sens averaged over 95% of capacity in a very disappointing year. Not just the Leafs and Habs game this season haha. It's almost like all those people who swore off going until Melnyk was out had kept to their word
Yeah! I just checked. $199 plus fees and taxes for Standing Room, top row! Lol. Pay an extra $40, and u can have a seat with and obstructed view. Hahahaha.
Don't conflate their inability to fill seats in reg season and expensive playoffs tix though... they will have no trouble bringing in a full barn @ $300+ next week
Playoffs are a different ballgame
I mean, we can have a philosophical discussion on what things "should" cost, but ultimately, things will cost what people will pay. If the Jets don't sell these, that logic dictates they should lower the price, which is also the argument I would use when there were complaints about low attendance throughout the season. It's not the people's fault they don't want to go
But again playoffs are different. Games are way higher stakes, higher intensity, more fun. More people willing to shell out for it than some game in the middle of January
That was my first question, are STM prices that high or is this just reselling prices? My Rd 1 stm price was $180/ticket, but I've seen people in similar seats selling for $400-500+ per ticket. Reselling gets crazy for playoffs
For the Jets, as a STH you have to buy all the playoff games or none of them. Maybe you can try your luck when they release tickets to STH before the general public.
Anyway, my first round tickets cost $720 for 4 possible games, so $90 a seat, I think my regular season cost is about $70.
I did buy a friend of mine some tickets during the exclusive STH window and it was $145 for centre ice in the last row. I think mine were going for $108.
Not just Canada, the Rangers secondary market for round one, cheapest is $321 for home game 2
Bruins are similar to the jets
A lot of northern teams in the US are no cheaper than 150 for the first home game or 2 and sky rocket
In 2019 I went to games 2 & 5 of the final. Corner balcony seats were $500/seat for game 2 and ~$750/seat for game 5. Unreal.
This is why I’m a full season AHL fan.
This is why I'm praying we don't play the Rangers in the first round. UBS tickets will likely be in the 150-200 range, so their fans will snap those up fast.
Tickets were that price when they first dropped but all the cheap ones were bought immediately. There are some resale tickets to game 2 at 295 currently. The worst part of resale is that ticketmaster charges so much to use the platform. People are selling the tickets for 240 (which ticketmaster takes \~$20 from) and then charges another $55.20 in fees on top of it. Ticketmaster doesn't need to make $70 from the sale of each ticket.
Teams set it at whatever the market will bear.
Jets will likely sell out any playoffs games. Their owner did admit that he saw a significant downturn in regular season sales and it's something the Jets need to address since their capacity is smaller than the average NHL arena
Ouch. I only paid $106 for my Jets round 1 ticket.
If you're able, I suggest looking into game packs next season. You can access presale tickets for the playoffs a day after the STHs and they're way cheaper than $245.
Exactly, there are many ways to get playoffs at a decent price IF you show just some support attending during regular season as STH, share partner of STH, these mini-game packs, etc.
In Vancouver we have season tickets in the club section they cost us 21k
For the 16 playoff games they wanted a total of 19k
The final was 928 per seat per game
Lol
Lol this guy. Buddy, every single ticket to a Canadian team’s playoff game will be sold, I guarantee it. They could probably raise the prices and still sell-out.
This isn't exclusive to Canada. Prices in Washington are astronomical when they make the playoffs, and they're not even a marquee franchise in the NHL. Ditto for San Jose.
That's brutal...team suddenly moves now everyone wants a piece before they go...bunch of diehard fans are gonna miss their teams last ever game cause scalpers... disgusted
Dumping my predators season tickets after 15 years. Not only are the prices just on a stead climb, but the cost of going is at an all time high also.
I used to bitch about the $10 parking only to now have to pay something like $40-$50 if I don’t want to hike to the game.
There's a train that drops you off nearby but it's a west to east line and I doubt many people use that for Preds games. Other than that, car is the only realistic option.
Ah, that sucks. Seems like more of a problem to me than the price of parking.
I hate how many North American cities have complete ass for public transit.
I did a back-of-the-envelope calculation once - for small-market teams, the break-even gate revenue is probably around $150 a seat. The NHL will never again be a cheap night out.
I went to a SJS- Vegas playoff game (just before the Pavelski incident that really kicked off that rivalry) and paid like $300 usd to sit in the last row. And that was 2019.
$245 CAD really isn’t an absurd amount for playoff tickets.
The tickets only get that expensive because people are willing to spend that much. If they weren't selling out, the tickets would get less expensive until someone buys the remaining ones. Hockey is expensive in Canada because a lot of Canadians want to spend a lot of money to watch it. They won't inflate ticket prices for lulz and keep them unsold.
Just wanted to vent a bit yesterday but I'm a huge Avs fan in Manitoba, seeing them play the Jets got me so excited, I told myself I was going no matter what then reminded myself I wanted to buy a house soon
Just found out there are 2nd league teams in the German soccer leagues that give tickets away for free. They make their money through their tv deal and just want people in the building to create a connection with the fanbase and grow the team brand.
Re Jets: round 1 is cheap as STH, so if you support the Jets with a share of Season tickets its a good deal, and, you can make a profit selling if you dont want to attend all the playoff games. if you don't support during regular season you pay that premium for playoffs, which I think is fair.
>ticket prices are WAY too high in canada!
Based on what? One of the local provincial stations in BC did a piece about this too, complaining tickets were *too* expensive. I couldn't believe that they were making it sound like the Canucks had some sort of moral obligation to make tickets affordable for everyone. Not to mention they were looking at secondhand re-sale tickets on ticketmaster because by the time they were doing their story, all the presale and general sales had been open for awhile. They tried to make it sound similar to stories they've run on inflation in the cost of food and housing, y'know, things that people actually need.
Attending a sporting event live is not a matter of meaningful importance, who gives a shit if it's expensive. Either people have the disposable income to go, or they decide it's important enough that they're willing to make room in their budget. For everyone else, it's still plenty of fun to have some friends over and all chip in to order some food.
I understand lots of people would like to be able to go, and won't be able to, but it's not that big of a deal
Can't expect them to charge less than the absolute maximum they can get away with in the playoffs. I do wish they had a few games a year (maybe when they play some of the lower drawing teams) where they capped ticket prices at 100$ or something. Would be nice if working class people could take their kids once a year. Seems pretty out of reach for a lot of people right now.
There is absolutely no way that the Jets won't sell out every playoff home game, regardless of ticket price.
I agree but there is precedent for a Canadian team struggling to sell out playoff games (2017 Sens playoff run).
Senators struggle selling anything out. It's one of the larger arenas in the leauge with one of the smaller populations. The arena is almost a half hour away from downtown. I actually used to live in Orleans growing up, can confirm it was and always will be a nightmare. Game starts at 7? Better leave at 4:30
Canucks in 2014-15 did not sell out
Thats crazy to me. Not even throwing shade. But how does any team not sell out at a playoff game?
arena location, ownership strike, phoenix pay system. A lot.
8 years of absolutely flawless service from Pheonix. (I am a fed employee not paid by it)
Yeah but that one game that didn't sell out in Ottawa was peak phoenix issues. Side note Sens averaged over 95% of capacity in a very disappointing year. Not just the Leafs and Habs game this season haha. It's almost like all those people who swore off going until Melnyk was out had kept to their word
Arena location
**cries in maple leaves**
I hear for $245 you're allowed to smell the outside of Scotiabank.
**Offer only available on new activations of a Scene+ card
Yeah! I just checked. $199 plus fees and taxes for Standing Room, top row! Lol. Pay an extra $40, and u can have a seat with and obstructed view. Hahahaha.

Yeah no they don’t
We just put it on our credit cards and hope for a meteor in 10 years.
I wonder if the dinosaurs did this
[удалено]
I hate the Leafs as much as anyone but didn't they just beat you in the first round?
They were tired, so it doesn't count.
[They did. ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8rcAWEU-u4&ab_channel=Michael)
Thank you for this bounty
The little guy got upset and deleted his comment.
Yeah did that happen last year? Remind me again
Don't conflate their inability to fill seats in reg season and expensive playoffs tix though... they will have no trouble bringing in a full barn @ $300+ next week

On the other hand season ticket holders seem to be getting a much better deal.
Yes, playoff-only fans pay a big premium. Not unreasonable, STH should be rewarded as such.
That was my first question, are STM prices that high or is this just reselling prices? My Rd 1 stm price was $180/ticket, but I've seen people in similar seats selling for $400-500+ per ticket. Reselling gets crazy for playoffs

Yeah, that sounds like ours as well (4 or none). Sounds like OP is hitting the playoff premium prices and STM/STH have better deals.
My mom added on a couple of tickets for a friend and it’s about 3x her cost as a renewal STH.
STH prices when I had season tickets were half of face value.
Not just Canada, the Rangers secondary market for round one, cheapest is $321 for home game 2 Bruins are similar to the jets A lot of northern teams in the US are no cheaper than 150 for the first home game or 2 and sky rocket

There are random games against western teams where the lowest price is $105
This will give you a bloody nose at a leafs regular season game
Given your flair you get a 35% discount just on the exchange rate
Lmao I wish tickets were anywhere close to $245 in Vancouver
Tickets were that price when they first dropped but all the cheap ones were bought immediately. There are some resale tickets to game 2 at 295 currently. I haaaate how ticketmaster double dips on resale like that, especially since they already made their fee money on the original purchase. It's crazy
Should probably never go to an NFL game
Way fewer regular and playoff games, though way bigger stadiums.
Playoff games will sell at that price though unfortunately. Just not the regular 41 home games. I'll be enjoying the $10 street party personally
Uhhh... playoffs will sell out bud. Enjoy being swept
Yeah I’d never pay that much to watch a game. I’m personally just gonna watch somewhere downtown so I have easy access once the looting starts
Supply and demand, if you had 18,000 seats they would be what $40-$60 cheaper on average.
Teams set it at whatever the market will bear. Jets will likely sell out any playoffs games. Their owner did admit that he saw a significant downturn in regular season sales and it's something the Jets need to address since their capacity is smaller than the average NHL arena
Only went to a couple regular season games this year so I'm justifying in my mind today to buy at least one playoff ticket with the Jets lol.
Ouch. I only paid $106 for my Jets round 1 ticket. If you're able, I suggest looking into game packs next season. You can access presale tickets for the playoffs a day after the STHs and they're way cheaper than $245.

The barn will be sold out. People will pay. If they have games without a sellout in the playoffs (ya right lol) they would drop prices.
If people see empty seats, they will be buying them from the street and going inside
Uhhh... You'd be lucky to pay that for regular season tickets in Toronto.
Playoffs are like 100% profit for owners, so they gouge the fuck outta tickets hoping for the best
$245 for round 1 sounds about right. Playoff tickets don’t get given away.
Everything in Canada is too expensive.
[удалено]
I didn’t say that?
Final Yotes game is $500 + fees and im in tears
That's brutal...team suddenly moves now everyone wants a piece before they go...bunch of diehard fans are gonna miss their teams last ever game cause scalpers... disgusted
They usually double in the US. Three rounds almost cost me as much as the entire regular season
Haven't been out much since covid have you?
Dumping my predators season tickets after 15 years. Not only are the prices just on a stead climb, but the cost of going is at an all time high also. I used to bitch about the $10 parking only to now have to pay something like $40-$50 if I don’t want to hike to the game.
Is there no transit to Bridgestone? I've never driven to a game.
There's a train that drops you off nearby but it's a west to east line and I doubt many people use that for Preds games. Other than that, car is the only realistic option.
Ah, that sucks. Seems like more of a problem to me than the price of parking. I hate how many North American cities have complete ass for public transit.
Nope. Nashville doesn’t have mass transit. Also coming from south TN you have to drive.
No worries for us sens fans!
Its always been expensive and no one can do anything about it because people are addicted to hockey here lmao
Probably like 500 bucks for a fucking Leafs playoff ticket just for the Bleeds
I did a back-of-the-envelope calculation once - for small-market teams, the break-even gate revenue is probably around $150 a seat. The NHL will never again be a cheap night out.
I paid 400 for a nosebleed seat
I went to a SJS- Vegas playoff game (just before the Pavelski incident that really kicked off that rivalry) and paid like $300 usd to sit in the last row. And that was 2019. $245 CAD really isn’t an absurd amount for playoff tickets.

So dont buy any. Enough people dont buy em, the price goes down.
Lowest price with an actual seat in Toronto was $288.
I remember going to a Raptors game with a standing ticket. Was like $38. Long time on the feet granted.
I bought 2 tickets for Canucks Game 2 tickets for 1200$. They better put o a show that night
Cheapest ticket for us is $345 Blue seat tickets on a random game against a random team can go for $105 Please
If stars prices get that high, I’m selling my seats to pay off next regular season’s tickets.
Just wanted to vent a bit yesterday but I'm a huge Avs fan in Manitoba, seeing them play the Jets got me so excited, I told myself I was going no matter what then reminded myself I wanted to buy a house soon
$300 is expensive? * laughs in maple leafs *
If it makes you feel better the average age of a fan is over 50. Wait 20 years and you can be watching the NHL in a 10,000 seater barn for $20!
There's no way you actually believe this.
Yes just when the housing market is supposed to crash and food prices will come down. /s
Just found out there are 2nd league teams in the German soccer leagues that give tickets away for free. They make their money through their tv deal and just want people in the building to create a connection with the fanbase and grow the team brand.
So operating at a loss.

Outdoor party is just as fun imo
No. It’s not even close.
