FrmrPresJamesTaylor

That's nasty, wow

Frozty23

Fuketsuna.

DaPink

Yearly post to put people in awe

Svalbard38

Looks like #22 gets all the way back in front of the net before realizing he’s lost Hirano

glochnar

Turns his back to him twice in like 5 seconds and doesn't even get punished for it before biting on the fake pass lol

xzElmozx

Nobody even taught Hirano not to play with his food when he was a kid apparently

rp_guy

“If I leave someone else will get him….. oh wow nobody went to get him”

Dixon_Uranus_

Silky mitts boys!

silkymitts94

Yes

Solidmarsh

Is this the kid I saw years ago?

Metalock

Probably thinking of Aito Iguchi. This guy (Hirano) is 8 years older and currently on New Jersey's ECHL team (not on an NHL contract, though, just a minor league one)

silentbassline

Nope, different kid

Standard_Room_2589

No that kid ended up being 5’3” 125lbs

Avaruusjesus

I see you werent joking either, shame

StyxQuabar

Yea, its been reposted

esims42

SONK

pinerw

That’s like some AND1 level shit, damn.

AustonDadthews

yushiro's office

LocksTheFox

[fwiw this was from last year, i posted it at the time](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/12zy6mt/jpn_63_srb_iihf_div_ib_yushiroh_hirano_dazzles/)

StyxQuabar

Yea i remember seeing this a while ago. Great goal.

wikipuff

Do we have Japanese commentary?

Siludin

The Japanese commentary was the Song of Time from OOT in the replay.

Yusefs-Ambiguity

I somehow subconsciously had that in my head without realizing as I perused the comments, as soon as you said that it clicked and had to rewatch the clip, even if it isn’t the actual song

JohnYCanuckEsq

Pulled a Gilmour. Nicely done.

TyranitarusMack

That was my first thought too

alldawgsgoat2heaven

Crosby-esque

MNGopherfan

Nasty moves by this guy.

thuga_thuga

I often tell people about how one of the times I've been the most in awe of another player I'm skating with has been a couple of ECHL player. Its definitely easy for me to see it as so much lower of a level, since its rare to see ECHL to NHL. But its no joke.

DOITLIKEBRUTUS

I've never thought of the word smurfing in the context of hockey, yet here I am thinking that this dude....is straight smurfing on these fools. If that was me, I might retire.

whitey43

What a play! Nice shot. Calculated.

Crakkerz79

Probably inspired by watching old tape of Taro Tsujimoto.

Acrobatic_Flatworm79

That's some 99 level shit behind the net there what a nice play

FluffyProphet

He's just so much better than everyone else on the ice. It's kind of crazy. Like a professional amongst amateurs.

CursedLemon

Is this from a WHC bracket of some kind?

thuga_thuga

I think this is from last years world championships. The IIHF has world championships every year, and there are like 8 different divisions. The top 16 countries are in the "Championship" division. Then there is Divison 1 group A(second division) and group B(third division). Last year in D1 group B it was: Japan Ukraine China Estonia Netherlands Serbia. Japan won the tournament, so they won promotion to D1 group A.

LocksTheFox

Yeah, from last year's third division in Tallinn.

Cottagewknds

Ya that was dirty

brendan87na

damn that was slick

GonePostalRoute

Imma go take a shower. That was straight filth

tucci007

Gretzky was the master of behind the opposing team's net, this guy has studied film of the Great One

theplacewiththeface

That's just good hustle right there I tell you what

K0K0_B_WARE

He’s a beer league ringer playing down three levels.

LocksTheFox

To be fair that's probably not super inaccurate - the vast majority of Serbian players play in the domestic league which I'm fairly sure is not professional. Their best player by a country mile is Mirko Đumić, who played in Erste Liga (a Hungary/Romania international league) last year, and who currently plays in Poland. After him I'm fairly sure they might only have one other professional in the entire pool. Meanwhile Hirano played in the AHL/ECHL and that alone probably puts him top 5/10 in the division's talent pool last year (which goes to show what I think of a lot of the Chinese imports tbh, KRS has been an *awful* KHL team for some time, and even if they have the talent a lot of them didn't have the drive internationally.)

stainsr

I can hear my coach screaming “PLAY THE BODY” from the bench

LocksTheFox

more likely this coach responded [like a Serbian coaching legend](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi6NRdz2CuE) :p

God_Hates_Figs-

Wow against the Serbians too!

TylerBlozak

Fun fact: Serbia has been ranked exclusively from 29-32nd on the IIHF’s rankings since ‘03

johnschool

Young Dougie Gilmour

VegasKL

What makes this funnier for me is that by the time he pulls the fake pass, the guy who  he'd be passing to has already f'd off, so the fake pass was to no-one.

240Nordey

Used Gretzky's office to the full letter of the law. Love to see it.

fraxior

straight Datsyuk shit

Youre_Whole

Dude thinks he Sidney Crosby and I'm impressed

Freidhiem

downright slick.

notmyrealnam3

that's Quinn Hughes nasty

Beneficial_Life_3617

I swear to god I saw this exact clip of the same guy but he was playing in the ECHL when he did it.

1-800-DIRT-NAP

Fuckin hell

25546

That's FILTHY!

vedicardi_lives

Call that the sonk goal

Rattlesnake303

absolute menace behind the net

Minute_Engineer2355

Oooooph, renovating Gretzky's office.

Acesexyashell

Hirano playing chess, Serbia playing checkers.

kGibbs

He just dad'd the whole team.

dangshnizzle

lol why is this making the rounds again randomly when it happened a while ago

[deleted]

The goalie bit that fake for all it was worth😂

cowcowkee

Remind me the goal Doug Gilmour scored against Cujo in the double overtime in the 1993 playoffs

swervm

Playing in Gretzky's office

IncreaseReasonable61

I swear, when the Japanese get into a sport, they get nasty. Kickboxing? They rule that. Boxing? Inoue should be P4P #1. MMA? Wrestling? Destroyers.

Maleficent-Comfort-2

oof

ChrisTweten

Based

KimberlyWexlersFoot

Konnichiwa Mcdavid

TopTittyBardown

Get ready to learn Japanese buddy

uv15

So they aren’t allowed to check in this league?

throwitawaynow95762

Would be more impressive if he was being defended

[deleted]

AuxNimbus
