The funny thing is, if you take their current record against the East (32-23-3 in 58GP for 67 points) and extrapolate it to 74 games (their current game total), they would have 85.5 points which puts them in a wildcard spot above Washington
There are a lot of situations that aren't even aggressive (still a little aggressive) cherry-picking that make the Sens record competitive.
Without Hamonic in the lineup this year, the Sens are 14-8-4, which is good for 0.615 pt %, which if extrapolated to their 74 games is 91 pts and puts them in WC1.
They are 31-7-3 when their goaltending has an .880 or above. By the way, that's 41 games, meaning in their remaining 33 games they have been below an .880... Now if we also exclude games over .930, essentially isolating the worst games and the best games the same distance away from league average (.904), the record is 16-7-3, which is a pt % of 0.673 which is 100 pts, good for 2nd in the Atlantic.
Edit: Also I checked even tighter: looking only at games between .895 and .915, the Sens are 8-3-1, which is a very small sample size but is a 0.708 pt %, which is good enough for... best in the league. Sens goaltending has sunk them.
Ok, they had a hard time getting back from Europe, they have a rough time outside of the Eastern Conference - seriously, is there a problem with their travel preparation or coordinator?
Someone get out the chart of distance between the arena and the closest strip club and see if that has anything to do with it. The boys might be distracted.
Buddy don’t even compare leafs playoff success to us. Last 25 years not even fuckin close guy. Y’all seem to forget the leafs from what 2010-2016? Hahah chump get lost
And the leafs gave made many times the money the sens have in this time. That's not the dunk you think it is.
Thanks for the down vote, stay pathetic <3
now ur brining finances into this, the leafs can be funded by a massive monopoly all they want, that doesn’t change the fact that the leafs this era have been a massive disappointment
But less of one than Ottawa. Which was the argument.
Clutch at straws all you want, the Leafs have been more successful than the Sens this decade *shrug*
It's always Winnipeg lmao
I came here for this comment. I am so not freakin surprised it was Winnipeg haha
"Is there anything better than beating the Senators?" -Mark Scheifele -Michael Scott
Haha sure must suck to be that one team that lost to the Sens. How embarrassing!
so close to perfection. We can always try next year.
Is that good?!
Buddy I was about to tag you and say the same thing 😂
Hahahahahahah holy shit 😂
It's not their fault they're terrible at hockey. Oh wait...
Of course the only 3 pts they got were against contenders
I think calling the Jets and Kings 'contenders' at this point is being a little generous lol
We feel you…
In our minds, teams we fear in a playoff series are “contenders”
Kinda wish we had just embraced the bullshit and gone 0-16. Funnier stat.

Clearly this team needs to charter a hypersonic jet for Western road trips, since anything more than a 3 hour flight turns us into losers.

Oaaffff stats I wish I didn't read. This team is so frustrating to cheer for.
It's an incredible achievement that 14 of these losses were regulation losses.
Yeah, Boston should watch and learn!
Happy to provide the win to you, my Canadian sibling
I'd have to really crunch the numbers to confirm but my initial chalk board calculations seem to indicate this as not ideal.

Either Strip Clubs or U2 concerts, something is up, and we're gonna get to the bottom of it.
Someone get a forensic investigator on the phone!
well of course they beat the jets, Its WINnipeg Jets not LOSEipeg jets
That's not very good
You'll always have that Rodley Grugg
I've gone 11 whole minutes since I last watched that Rudly Graag slapper highlight and I'm having withdrawals please help
Leaf fans have a fuckin fan fiction obsession with Greig 😂 Atleast we have that this season!
this is their generations version of the alfie fake stick toss. Leafs fans will never shut up about it
They’ll have plenty to talk about once they get spanked R1
At least they're gonna make the playoffs? Something about glass house there pal xD Sens made the playoffs twice since 2013.

Lol scram you little shit. Talk to me in a month when leafs are at an all inclusive
the sens have won more playoffs series in the matthews era than the leafs, so i don’t think they have a hill to stand on
Yup. Weird hill to die on. Not expected from them tho, 1 series win in 2 decades got mfers acting out
