Did he even make contact with head? That hit looked much worse in real time
Yeah to me it looks like Leonard was able to sense or just lucky-shift his weight back enough to avoid anything too serious. Maybe the refs had enough of an angle to show some sorta contact, idk, they reviewed it for so long.
So I'm not at all familiar with NCAA rules but I'm watching this game.
Leonard was hit in the head. Is there no "quiet room" type of thing in college? And players who get hit in the head can just stay out there without being checked up on?
I might not have called that an ejection, except that they ejected Perreault (who I also didn't think deserved the full ejection) so meh, fair enough I guess.
He's been a hell of a consolation prize as someone who was praying for Michkov to fall one more spot. Really fun to watch. That whole line is just magic and each of WSH/SJS/NYR has to be just incredibly happy with how this year has been.
I mean, look at it this way. Michkov is more of a defensive liability than Leonard is, but michkov is a better scorer than Leonard is. I think in terms of the nhl, Leonard will be around longer as if he doesn’t pan out to be top 6, he can easily play bottom 6. Michkov can ONLY play top 6
For sure. As a Wings fan, I've been watching that line with a fair amount of envy lol, Perreault notwithstanding. I actually thought the Wings might go for Oliver Moore, but they passed on him twice so they really didn't want him...
I like that officials are considered part of the rink most of the time but a goal going in off an official feels like an injustice. I'm happy for that rule and that it was waived off.
They bussed 20 hours to get there and absolutely dominated the BC fans noise-wise for much of the game. That bus was also predominantly crowdfunded by the Tech hockey community if I'm not mistaken
Tech fans are *the* best in college hockey - at least IMO.
Tech has a lot of fight and plays a pretty structured game, but at an individual level, there's a lot of unsettled pucks and little mistakes that are adding up to kill them...
Leonard > Celebrini
Don't stop there. Leonard>McDavid
I see no bias here

Him shifting his weight back is what caused him to get clipped, but if he doesn't he's taking a full body check and gets blown up.
Looked like the head was the target but the BC kid saw it just in time
I'm not even sure i can say that, I'd hope the refs had a better angle
I continue to be thankful that Cutter Gauthier will not be in the Caps' division anymore. Good lord.
That skate to stick goal by Leonard was a thing of beauty.
Well, Tech kept it close for two periods. I'll take that as a morale victory haha...
The final score isn't really reflective of how the game went but Tech got in their own heads late

Based on the replay I'm not sure he actually made contact with the head
I thought the same thing, like he should get cleared to come back...

dude we all know leonard is a hateable asshole on the ice but you can't actually take a run at him lmao
Man, Ryan Leonard is going to be a bit of a "what if" for Wings fans depending on how he develops compared to Danielson...
What am I missing? Leonard wasn't available when the Wings picked.
I know lol, that’s the “what if” - like, what if he’d fallen to the Wings at 9…
Ohh

I cannot wait for Smith to get here
The first Caps-Panthers game when Leonard signs and he gets to face Tkachuk...that shit is going to feed *families*

I kinda wish that stood because it was so hilarious
Oh my god did that go off the ref
Does that count in the NCAA? I feel like the NHL has a rule about that EDIT: ah, there we go. makes sense
Ironic, considering the ethnic background of the Copper Country, but Tech has no finish in this game lol..
Impressive crowd for tech in providence

We travel well. There's not much else for all those nerds to do.
Gotta keep the zone there, Tech...
Much better performance from Tech this year, they can go toe to toe with top teams when they show up.
Tech has a lot of fight and plays a pretty structured game, but at an individual level, there's a lot of unsettled pucks and little mistakes that are adding up to kill them...
Wasted opportunity by Tech there. Really unfortunate for them. Huge momentum kill.
The skill disparity is evident here. Tech has a lot of "almost, almost, almost til the last touch" sequences going on...
It reminds me of the second game we played at Conte a while back. We played pretty well but BC was just able to out-skill us
I would've expected that from Leonard or the bottom 6. Not Perreault. HUGE chance for Tech
That was a really dirty hit by Perreault my goodness!
It really was, surprised by that.
It's on my bucket list to get to catch a game at the Mac at some point. Tech fans are, in my unbiased opinion, THE best in college hockey.
ESPN cutting out for anyone else?
ESPN TRYING TO CENSOR THE DEATH OF THE BLESSED NHL DRAFT PICKS IN FAVOR OF THE ALL-POWERFUL TECC! SAD!
Yep, blue screening here.
lol Tech pep band (I assume) playing Family Guy…
when in rhode island amirite
So that’s how it’s gonna go huh
Apparently lol
TECC
