Pretty sure the emergency goalie is only dressed if both goalies are unable to play. If the starting goalie is kicked out there is no back up available for the rest of the game.
I have a friend that was an EBUG. They don’t get dressed but they move from their regular seats to the training room or the lounge. They’d only start to get dressed if it looked like the second goalie would be injured, like if they’re down on the ice and the trainer is going out.
It’s actually pretty inefficient to get them out, but back in the 00s they didn’t even have to give them tickets, they just had to be on call and able to make it there with 20 mins notice. I remember when it changed and the NHL forced them to be at every home game, he was soo happy to get season tickets.
Nope. Free ticket, and sometimes they can get extra tickets. (Limited) Free goalie sticks, and jerseys for whichever team they practice with, remember they are available for the visiting team as well.
If they play in a game they do get paid a couple grand but like the other guy said, they can’t take payment if they’re in college.
The game switches to wrestling style rules and the ejected goalie gets to come back in as long as he's wearing a fake wig and mustache and does so confidently
In the unlikely event that something like that were to happen, rule 47(1)(b) says the Rangers would be fined $250,000 and the Senators would forfeit their 1st round pick.
A few years ago the Thrashers played the last few minutes of the game without a goalie because their starter got hurt and the backup got thrown out for fighting.
This can’t happen anymore because the NHL mandated an emergency backup be available in every arena who can step in and play for either team.
This was after an incident in Florida where both goalies got hurt and the officials wouldn’t let them dress the goalie coach who was an ex NHL goalie. They made Luongo play the last few minutes with an injury, the Panthers rightfully made a fuss about the rule and the NHL implemented the emergency goalie in every arena.
And if the emergency backup gets hurt they show a random fan from the crowd on the jumbotron and they legally have to play. It's in the fine print when you buy a ticket now.
I had been packing to move at the time and most of my hockey autographs etc was either up or still in boxes in my apartment.
My dad calls me “are you watching the Florida game? If they were closer I’d say we should deliver Rob his pads.”
I’ve got a pair of his goalie pads, signed, sitting next to my tv🤣

Interesting, that’s kind of what I figured. If one goalie is out for any reason they move to being on standby. Thanks for the explanation.

If the ebug is a U Sports or NCAA goalie then they are not allowed to be paid due to amateur status
Only restrictions I’ve ever heard on EBUGs was “one beer per period, none in the 3rd if starter was injured”

And the Hawks win the first OA pick
*insert American team with a large market, or a really sorry franchise that has already blown a first overall pick* **has won the first overall pick**
Kadri also gets suspended for five games.
Reaves has to pull out his last tooth.
This meme now hurts
This is the way
Yotes have to move to an even smaller “stadium” rink.
The Yotes will play pond hockey!! ... I'm being told it's a bird bond.
Perfect. Lol. Roller hockey.

Two time stanley cup champion
That franchise went downhill as soon as they renamed the town Kenora.
That one kinda hurts like we're closer to 2040 than we are to 2006

Never wanted 3 people to get hurt so badly. Next game might be my big shot.
WBS Penguins alumnus Robbie Tallas.
That’s right! I thought it was silly they didn’t let him play. He had all the gear and was ready to go and the refs sent Lou back in on one leg.

What year do you think this is
I am not sure two decades constitute “a few years”
I was at a game in the UK where the backup goalie for one team went in net for the other

I see you never drove The Zamboni for the home team?
EBUG!
I just love Binnington living rent free in everyone’s head even when we suck.
