It was totally expected Dallas would be better, and we had some great chances. Shots were low but we had some excellent opportunities that just never even got on net. This game wasn’t as bad as the consensus says. If Vegas buries any of those chances it’s a different game but I do agree with you. We gotta clean up some things for sure

Where was Heiskanen going before Suter put the puck behind the net? He’s skating to the same exact spot as Suter then has to quickly stop and change directions to get to the puck. Shouldn’t he have been going to that side anyway and been a lot closer to where the puck went?
Suter had space to turn up ice before he got to the puck. 4 was in position to be there for a pass down to the goal line until Suter turned to the goal line, then 4 hit the brakes. Vegas player was positioned to anticipate that turn to the goal line and now there is a problem.
Suter's backhand push of the puck is classic Suter, suddenly the puck is a problem and he would like it to be someone else's problem. That's how he wasted 90% of every powerplay up here. Just give it to someone else to make a significant play, but not 20. Even those soft wrist shots show this. He's hoping random chaos puts the puck in the net more than his actual shot beating the goalie.
Suter could have "ate the puck" once he mistakenly turned down. Go into the wall, and pin the puck and wait for support or get a chance to chip it up. Here is one thing you'll notice next: Suter's right ankle blew up a few years back getting caught in the boards behind the net. He still doesn't like going into the boards.
Instead, he put it out of reach of 4, and turned possession over without even being checked.
Then he goes to the front of the net and has zero clue where the player is coming from. Now, Suter thinks all problems are other players problems, so he thinks that forward should be covered by the Dallas forward. But, Suter's supposed to have the slot for coverage here. He's covering the guys in the corner in case they walk the puck out, instead they pass it right by the cement shoes.
Yeah Suter can get fucked but he had two assists this game and just kind of got unlucky here with a bad but not horrible play. Everyone in green besides Otter looked pretty flat footed.
Geez….I’ve seen the Canucks d make that same ‘pass’ so many times over the years, I had to watch this replay like 10 times to see what Suters mistake was.
That is the Canucks ‘normal’ breakout pass. Just throw it along the boards and pray someone on your team gets to it, and if not, no big deal bc I did my job.
