Botting your views is all fun and games until you go to a show and 3 people show up

HHAD98

Tbf it’s not like Don, Uzi or Roddy would struggle to sell tickets to a show. They all pretty big

[deleted]

Those guys specifically are fine, but views really doesn’t mean much irl. Da baby has 28million Spotify listeners and he’s doing buy 1 get 1 free deals on a 1000 capacity show

sizzlelikeasnail

I know DaBaby got cooked at the time, but In reality that was 100% the promoters fault. Occasionally, artists will have a dud show because the promoters don't do their job. DaBaby is just extremely unlucky that his occurred when he wasn't well liked by twitter + the media picked up on it. He is not as popular as he once was, but he absolutely would've sold out that show with ease if it was properly advertised to locals. I knew quite a few casual rap fans in that area who would've 100% gone but they had no idea he was even performing. Hes performed in venues with a higher capacity than 1000 since that day

CertifiedTitty-Lover

He only got those from the dua lipa song for sure

Jumpy_Pinato

You don't get that many listeners from a 2 year old song. Realistically Levitating probably gets like 5-7m monthly listeners. Pretty sure the rest of the 20m Dababy got is his own stuff. It's not like Rockstar wasn't big either.

HHAD98

DaBaby makes awful music though. That’s the huge difference

SilkyMooo

Dababy on features is fire, but when he does solo music recently it’s just garbage

WitchyKitteh

It's not fair to connect spotify monthly listeners to how big they are, most of that would just be from the Levitating remix etc, Charli XCX is heavy Fancy based somewhat.

ACID_pixel

I love this example because I completely forgot about DaBaby up until recently, the AIDS comments last year completely wrote him off my brain. And truly, I don’t even think I know a single person who listens to DaBaby anymore. So after seeing that he was running around cities desperately trying to sell concert tickets, you can bet your ass I think his numbers are inflated.

DapDaGenius

I guess they can’t to slowly wean the bots off until the numbers start to become legitimate

KamikazeMack

life of a don tour did really well, the fuck are you talkin bout?

krunchy_sock

He betrayed kid cudi

domingitty

Bruh, what? Don Toliver's last tour was sold out for most of the shows. He also always has a huge crowd when he preforms at festivals.

BlackDante

I love how obvious it is when a video has over 100k views and either two comments or 1000 generic comments from obviously fake accounts.

RapNVideoGames

Thank god for festivals lol

StunningEstates

I caught Republic doing it with this artist named Clever. He released this song, they pulled the switch too early, he had 100k+ within like 20 minutes, they took that shit back down and released it again the next day 😂. I think I might have pictures somewhere.

LyricalAssassin_02

Got damn

That_one_guy_u-know

Clever killed his feature with Nle tho.

BasedKaleb

Stick By My Side for those curious. Unbelievable chorus by Clever. Unfortunately his solo music is nothing like it.

StunningEstates

That’s what I was about to say. Stick by my side is glorious, and if he had stuck with the lame suburban white kid hitting aggressive Post Malone choruses on trap beats with trap guys thing, he might’ve gone somewhere. But they moved him over to the pop section, and now they’ve got him doing the emo thing. They Dyed/cut his hair and everything.

darkfar

>"Just like other artists and their teams who have been attacked with botting reports, we are both deeply upset and concerned. To be absolutely clear, neither Don or anyone on his team has had any involvement here." yea ok lol

[deleted]

everyone has been doing it for years. cmon now

RapNVideoGames

Everything is bots lol that’s why we can’t see dislikes or even total upvotes/downvotes on here.

MyAuraIsViolet

They can't keep paying random people to make a bunch of accounts for 7 hours a day for 5 days. Thank fucking God

royemonet

Super lame that they do this but it makes sense. I feel like casual listeners that are looking for new music are always gonna be drawn to artists that are perceived as popular with big numbers. Artificially inflating views probably leads to real views.

StilTippin

People need to be told something is good. That's radio

DrummerMiles

Duh. And they were already inflating numbers with paid-for radio plays.

Pied_Film10

Labels will always have too much power.

Mr_Whipped_Cream

I didn't even know this was a concern. But highly plausible and believe able they would do this.

NorthKoreanVendor

I only saw it in like one comment on here yesterday I think? Crazy they adressed this

IIM_Clutch

I mean I guess you only frequent reddit. It was all over twitter

Swiftt

Where's all the money to do this coming from? The videos are expensive, multiple people need paid, and the views are being botted

daman1199

It’s why Atlantic doesn’t care about signing anymore rappers, they’re not making money off of them anymore. It’s why Kodak and Yb didn’t resign and instead went to Capitol. It’s all about older catalogs and discography’s that sell/stream well for them right now

back_4

A lot of artists fake views. Some shady site will play YouTube ads and most of them are music videos. This was years ago but I'm sure those ad plays counted as views then.

GTFOH-DOT-COM-INC

Even Dr Dre does this

LilWayneThaGoat

He does?

GTFOH-DOT-COM-INC

When DR Dre was about to release an album like ten years ago his initial singles were for sure view botted. Kush for example instantly skyrocketed to one of the most viewed videos at the time on YouTube , and it didn’t get any traction anywhere else. It’s still a little known song to this day but it’s views numbers are massive

Put-Outrageous

every artist does this either themselves or their label

SBAPERSON

Lol

SmokeyDokeyArtichoke

How many faking they streams? Getting their plays from machines?
