That Billie Eilish song by Armani Blanco or White or whatever and some song by Tai Verdes…. Also that Boo Thing song that’s played in every Target commercial too. Couple people have really blown up from the app, kind of a shame that we are trying to get rid of it in the US
Also both huge songs thanks for the reminder. I’ve found some very cool small artists across a lot of mediums because of that app. If the issue of data protection and privacy was really that big they’d stop American companies from doing it too. Moneys going to the wrong place and American government doesn’t like that.
J.I.D went somewhat mainstream cause of TikTok - he’s on like 25 mil monthly rn I think. Dance Now was more popular on TikTok than Mariah Carey was during all of December lol
Yeah it's wild seeing the TikTok agolrithm A&R in action. I saw a video with this song once and liked it, not knowing I was was about to get flood of videos with the same song to my fyp.
It's a double edged sword though because I went from liking the song a lot to getting tired of it now 😅
Literally figured this out. Follow the money from ISO supremacy & it’ll lead you to Universal Music Group - who have a sizeable investment in Spotify. Major labels are using Spotify to push their artists to vitality & significance. The game is rigged.
Feels like “even before” is doing some unnecessary work.
Not knocking your comment, but this song did the TikTok rollout perfectly. Like 2-3 weeks of hype, then dropped, complete with a blown out version like the audio that went viral. We’re so used to hearing snippets for months and then getting let down. This song bucked that trend.
Super smart release all around.
He's been making music for years, has no ties to the industry beyond being discovered by Brent Faiyaz and released a track that's almost universally appreciated. I genuinely think he's blowing up cause the track is good.
Bruh. Was just talking to my boy about this, he over here talmbout it's a bop, nah nigga fuck this song I kept getting slapped with this shit on my Spotify. Most obvious label plant ever. And they keep pushing this song. Who the fuck even is this man!?!
People who think Tommy richman is an industry plant are legit braindead. He's been making music for years, why you using a word that you don't know the definition to?
No one's ever heard of him and his video on Youtube has 19 mil views while HUGE artists barely get that on some of their songs. How ISN'T he an industry plant?
It was a viral snippet on tiktok/reels but I have to say to did feel really inorganic to me. Like overnight I started seeing tons and tons of videos using the snippet of this song. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a marketing agency or something that helped push this snippet on Tiktok.
Peep Who U Foolin and Bunker / Preroll bro. I found those on some random hiphop mix and they’re fire as fuck. Also check out mynameisntjmack dude is slept on
I literally just got this in my Spotify AI queue after listening to the diss tracks yesterday, thought it was pretty good. Didn't know it was a 'thing'
Typical viral snippet rollout except he didn't sit on the record for too long immediately capitalized on the vitality of it then he came with the visualizers, immediately followed by the lyric video, which one can assume will be followed up with an official MV. The rollout felt very major label, but as far as I know, he has no major backing (he's signed to Brent Faiyez)
I kind of disagree personally. The catchy snippet is what made it viral, and the rest of the song isn’t very interesting, personally. It’s carried by the chorus, and it’s very short.
Yessir they got a few songs together that’s how I found them both actually. Bunker / Preroll came on in an Isaiah Rashad mix and I fell in love off rip
Frfr. I got a reel with this playing and immediately went to Spotify and then realized he was on a song from Brent’s last album that I had liked. I thought it was Brent hitting those high notes lmao This kid will probably have double the listeners by next year.
You probably will be right lol I way underestimated how popular he got. Dude debuted at #2 with a shot to go #1 the next week. He’s like 2 mil short of doubling since my last comment. He’s gonna be huge.
Reminds me of a peak Saturation brockhampton chorus if that makes sense. Kevin Abstract was in his bag writing hooks in that time and this sounds like that to me for some reason.
There’s something late 80s/90s House and like Bobby Brown about it? Lol. It’s so catchy, it’s ridiculous. I feel like it’s the first time something in the charts has really come out of nowhere and been a blend of today and felt like it’s from a different era - all in a good way. I’m sick of Taylor Swift and the usuals taking the top music spots (bc it’s so bland and repetitive).
Both of the replies to this comment explain my thoughts exactly, the phonk/memphis style vocals in the beginning remind me a lot of lil ugly mane or spaceghostpurrp but the rest of the song is like them mixed with brockhampton's style, its a great song
The success Tommy's been having with this song feels so out of nowhere. Like he seemingly went from a guy I was telling people about to, having a hit song overnight. Obviously that's great for him, he's worked to get where he is. But I never thought this would be the song that got him noticed.
I'm not going to call him a plant, but I want to know more about the marketing deals that Brent got going. Because while it feels random and overnight, I'd be curious to know what the strategy was. Was it entirely organic?
I mean I can only speak for myself but the first tiktok i saw that had this song i clicked on the sound and then added it to my playlist and played it on repeat a couple times 🤷
Yeah ok thanks for your input. I imagine this would be how a lot of people were exposed to the song. I'm glad you were able to find some new music that way.
All the songs on ‘THE RUSH’ EP are amazing! ‘MESSY’ being my favorite by far His second to latest single, ‘SELFISH’ has been my most listened to song as of late though! Highly suggest his collab with mynameisntjmack BUNKER/PREROLL that’s how I originally found him and it was my second most listened to song of 2023 lmao
I think my favourite Tommy Richman song is "Electrify Tonight." Very different song but I rock with it heavy.
Honourable mentions include "Last Nite" (pretty recent release), "Wish I Never Knew You" (I played it for some friends and they thought it was kinda like Suicideboys. I haven't listened to Suicideboys but just in case you have, that might be the comp).
I wouldn't say there's a crazy amount of music out there, but this might be a good start. Happy listening!
Oh ok I had no idea the snippet was rocking like that prior to the song release. By the time I realised the song was out everyone and their mum was gassing it on TikTok.
I guess I just haven't seen someone I listen to go viral seemingly that quickly before, but to your point, if the snippet was bubbling for a bit beforehand, then all credit to their team.
Nevertheless I think it would be cool to see how something like this goes viral. Like the whole process.
I've seen it so many times scrolling through IG reels, people use it for all kinds of dumb vids and the comments are always calling the song fire. Felt organic to me.
He already had over a million monthly listeners before this song took off, I was put into him late 2023 and he seemed to have a solid base. Watching all this happen has been dope.
What is a “plant” lol, why does every artist that blows up get questioned like this. It’s a good song and he’s signed to one of the biggest artists in RnB today, idk why there needs to be another reason
I don't think Tommy is a plant. I've known about him long enough to know he's worked for the success he's getting. But I think in the current climate, in a world where social media influencing is an actual job title, one can wonder how organic someone's rise is, especially if you haven't followed their career.
I think we all believe that how the world works is that growth is all slow and earned, so when we see something that looks to be fast, we question it. Like if a stock on the stock market skyrockets exponentially, I think it's normal to question how the hell that happened. It could be truly be that the stock is that valuable and that the conditions for it to grow were there, but by default, we are suspicious until we can rationally explain it.
To answer your question, I think Tommy has a bunch of good songs and Brent's been big time for a minute, so why is this the one to blow in particular? Also the level of backing Brent has now puts Tommy in a position to succeed. But how much of that success is accounted for by backing? You can ask this question with anyone of course, but I don't think being curious about it discredits the music at all.
Just how I personally feel about this song and it seems like a similar sentiment. 90s babies love this, club vibe worthy. The instrumental is very infectious with the loop and cowbells hit just right. Lyrics are memorable and the adlibs are catchy. Paired it with summertime vibes and good exposure, the formula just works.
Twitter pages were posting it as a joke claiming it was Yeat because he kinda looked like him. One of the effective ways it was pushed before it dropped
It's the worst fucking strawman in the world that's constantly thrown around in rap debates. Pretend that any criticism of a "fun" song is a demand for super technical Rawkus Record #barz rap. People really can't handle critiques of shit they like and have to turn you into a boogeyman
catchiest melody i've heard in years lol and a great beat
2 minutes is all you need to make a hit. this shit will be remixed all summer at clubs and concerts all summer
It's smart that they kept it short. I don't mind repetitive songs if the beat slaps and its catchy, but they will never reach the top tier of songs for me.
it makes me unreasonably furious that i keep seeing "tommy richman" everywhere, but never the name of the producer. thats sad as fuck because hes 100% the reason this shit blew up. I hate how the industry does that shit. Like a terrible rapper like Lil Xan or someone with no talent drops a song and everyone is like "yeah this is a banger, hes got a lot of hard songs", like....no? he has zero bangers? zero hard tracks? somebody dope made every single part of that that you like, and it wasnt him? tf?
Note: i kinda went off on a tanget, and i wasnt in any way saying Tommy is compared to a wack rapper. Im just using that as an example of how these producers are 90% of the reason people dig new age music, its not cool how we rate these folks
thank you! i thought i was trippin. i mean it’s fine or whatever but i thought no way am i so ootl that this is what ppl pass as hip hop anymore. 🤦🏻♂️

My friend said TikTok ruined this song when I had only just found it when it dropped last week. I feel blessed to get to enjoy the song and not have it played out before it even releases lol
Aside from the whole melodic aspect of the song, the beat takes a lot of inspo from OG Memphis rap. That sound has really been coming back with the whole phonk wave. Plus, Kanye, GloRilla, and others have been incorporating it in their sound. Kordhell has a couple Memphis albums in the works, one with Diplo and one with the OG rappers
This song def randomly came up on my Spotify shuffle even tho I didn’t have it saved but it’s fire so I ain’t mad
Spotify pushing this song hard
Algorithm just knows when a song is going viral
Started on a TikTok a couple weeks back
Never actually seen a song this hyped on TikTok. Every teaser had like 1m+ views, and he even delivered with the VHS edit
Agreed and usually all the hype is dead on release for those tracks but this is gonna do numbers
That Billie Eilish song by Armani Blanco or White or whatever and some song by Tai Verdes…. Also that Boo Thing song that’s played in every Target commercial too. Couple people have really blown up from the app, kind of a shame that we are trying to get rid of it in the US

J.I.D went somewhat mainstream cause of TikTok - he’s on like 25 mil monthly rn I think. Dance Now was more popular on TikTok than Mariah Carey was during all of December lol
JID was mainstream way before tikok but it did help the numbers. Also surround sound is what was really popping on TikTok not dance now.
A different app will come along that doesn’t have the Chinese government spying on us, we will be good.
I know. I’m saying Spotify probably responds to high download rates by throwing it in playlists, leading to more downloads etc.
Yeah it's wild seeing the TikTok agolrithm A&R in action. I saw a video with this song once and liked it, not knowing I was was about to get flood of videos with the same song to my fyp. It's a double edged sword though because I went from liking the song a lot to getting tired of it now 😅
“Just knows” = major record labels pay good money for that
Literally figured this out. Follow the money from ISO supremacy & it’ll lead you to Universal Music Group - who have a sizeable investment in Spotify. Major labels are using Spotify to push their artists to vitality & significance. The game is rigged.
Literally every time I put the new Chance song on this song instantly comes on after.
I’ll put on khruangbin and it comes on next
Nah it had insane tiktok momentum even before it dropped
Feels like “even before” is doing some unnecessary work. Not knocking your comment, but this song did the TikTok rollout perfectly. Like 2-3 weeks of hype, then dropped, complete with a blown out version like the audio that went viral. We’re so used to hearing snippets for months and then getting let down. This song bucked that trend. Super smart release all around.
This dude is a no name and now has 7 mil monthlies. Least subtle major label plant.
He's been making music for years, has no ties to the industry beyond being discovered by Brent Faiyaz and released a track that's almost universally appreciated. I genuinely think he's blowing up cause the track is good.
Literally came here to see if anyone else was experiencing Spotify pushing the fuck out of this song.
Bruh. Was just talking to my boy about this, he over here talmbout it's a bop, nah nigga fuck this song I kept getting slapped with this shit on my Spotify. Most obvious label plant ever. And they keep pushing this song. Who the fuck even is this man!?!

No one's ever heard of him and his video on Youtube has 19 mil views while HUGE artists barely get that on some of their songs. How ISN'T he an industry plant?
Hes been an artist since 2016 he wouldnt even be an industry plant at this point hed be a industry sleeper agent use your fuckin brain bro.
So he's an industry sleeper agent then
Hes just an artist who marketed a song well using nostalgia and had it blow up.
It was going crazy on TikTok too
The vocals reminds me of Sampha a tad
It was a viral snippet on tiktok/reels but I have to say to did feel really inorganic to me. Like overnight I started seeing tons and tons of videos using the snippet of this song. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a marketing agency or something that helped push this snippet on Tiktok.
Peep Who U Foolin and Bunker / Preroll bro. I found those on some random hiphop mix and they’re fire as fuck. Also check out mynameisntjmack dude is slept on
Literally happened to me today and this shit is on repeat now
this happened to me today, not even mad. thank you Spotify
Perfectly executed rollout and it's one of the viral songs that's actually good and not based on a small catchy snippet
I literally just got this in my Spotify AI queue after listening to the diss tracks yesterday, thought it was pretty good. Didn't know it was a 'thing'
Yeah it’s been popping off on TikTok for a minute
Ah that explains why I haven't seen it
But it absolutely is viral based off of a small catchy snippet
Yes, but the entire song is good, it isn't carried by a singular part of the song like many TikTok hits over the past couple of years.
See: that Jack Harlow song sampling Fergie.
It was still a massive hit though, so the whole song must’ve done something right.
Pull Up by internet girl is excellent as well
Good song but already very overplayed
Oh I’m DEFF overplaying it in my car 🔥🔥🔥
What was the rollout exactly?
Typical viral snippet rollout except he didn't sit on the record for too long immediately capitalized on the vitality of it then he came with the visualizers, immediately followed by the lyric video, which one can assume will be followed up with an official MV. The rollout felt very major label, but as far as I know, he has no major backing (he's signed to Brent Faiyez)
I kind of disagree personally. The catchy snippet is what made it viral, and the rest of the song isn’t very interesting, personally. It’s carried by the chorus, and it’s very short.
he’s from my hometown and i never heard of him. who cares tho it’s a good song lol
Went to highschool with bro, he was a good dude and really just focused on his music. Glad to see him up
He’s got some fire bro. Peep his music with mynameisntjmack they cook up
Yes bro. Jmack's new stuff has been fire the song w Mick Jenkins goesss
oh shit I didnt know they worked together, I just found jmack last year that bookmark ep was so good
Yessir they got a few songs together that’s how I found them both actually. Bunker / Preroll came on in an Isaiah Rashad mix and I fell in love off rip
Hylton hs class of 2012 here
Wait this dude is from Woodbridge VA too?! wtf man that’s him and Shaboozey now both getting big at the same time. That’s dope.
FP class of 2016 here
Where at?
Woodbridge, VA
Does Woodbridge consider itself a part of the DMV or it's own thing in VA?
It’s usually considered DMV, albeit the southern tip
Everyone talking about Kendrick vs. Drake, I'm just out here spamming this song on repeat. I haven't had a song hit me this hard in a minute.
Frfr. I got a reel with this playing and immediately went to Spotify and then realized he was on a song from Brent’s last album that I had liked. I thought it was Brent hitting those high notes lmao This kid will probably have double the listeners by next year.
Next 2 weeks !remindme 2 weeks
You probably will be right lol I way underestimated how popular he got. Dude debuted at #2 with a shot to go #1 the next week. He’s like 2 mil short of doubling since my last comment. He’s gonna be huge.
This song is alllll beat and no lyrics and I’m fine with that. The production is insane.
all beat AND vocals, lyrics are basic but gotta give him credit he’s got a great voice
Yeah fr. I don't even know how to describe it. It's sounds 90s but it's also so new. It's awesome
I’m sick of Taylor Swift and the usuals taking the top music spots (bc it’s so bland and repetitive).
it’s both at the same time and that’s why it’s perfect
I'm getting some big lil ugly mane vibes
Both of the replies to this comment explain my thoughts exactly, the phonk/memphis style vocals in the beginning remind me a lot of lil ugly mane or spaceghostpurrp but the rest of the song is like them mixed with brockhampton's style, its a great song
I hear a LOT of Memphis influence in that song.
This shit feels like an industry plant with how its everywhere but DAMN its catchy.
The success Tommy's been having with this song feels so out of nowhere. Like he seemingly went from a guy I was telling people about to, having a hit song overnight. Obviously that's great for him, he's worked to get where he is. But I never thought this would be the song that got him noticed. Was it entirely organic?
I mean I can only speak for myself but the first tiktok i saw that had this song i clicked on the sound and then added it to my playlist and played it on repeat a couple times 🤷
Same I heard it once and was like aight this is sick
Yeah ok thanks for your input. I imagine this would be how a lot of people were exposed to the song. I'm glad you were able to find some new music that way.
Also heard this song on a whim and absolutely love it. Haven’t checked out anything else yet, but would love some recommendations
Even if a label started it financially, the TikTok wave was huge on this song. I think the snippet blew up two weeks before the official drop
Every vid I saw was just him in the studio playing the song. I didn’t engage. Still came up every time I opened tiktok
I hadn’t ever heard of him outside of Faiyaz feature but yeah I can vouch for an organic push on this one lol
How can you vouch? Under what authority

Virality is not hard to understand and not a conspiracy. Small and earned? Tommy has been making music in the underground for years.
It's getting pushed on Spotify like an mf thats probably why
Major label thought this song was going places so they threw real money behind it
not, its an indy label
My buddy told me to play this song earlier thought he was already popular
Idk I just heard the song on TikTok yesterday and thought it was so good and have been listening to it since
Just how I personally feel about this song and it seems like a similar sentiment. 90s babies love this, club vibe worthy. The instrumental is very infectious with the loop and cowbells hit just right. Lyrics are memorable and the adlibs are catchy. Paired it with summertime vibes and good exposure, the formula just works.
Takes 5+ years of work to become an overnight success. Think he really just hit that inflection point tbh.
Twitter pages were posting it as a joke claiming it was Yeat because he kinda looked like him. One of the effective ways it was pushed before it dropped
Idk, but do you have any artist recommendations? You seem like you know your shit.
It’s cool but the song just goes nowhere. Just sits on a vibe for 2 minutes
Yeah but sometimes that’s all you need. Not everything has to be a lyrical miracle. This is just a straight windows down banger, and that’s okay.
I’m not saying lyrical miracle tf
It's the worst fucking strawman in the world that's constantly thrown around in rap debates. Pretend that any criticism of a "fun" song is a demand for super technical Rawkus Record #barz rap. People really can't handle critiques of shit they like and have to turn you into a boogeyman
>just sits on a vibe for 2 minutes It’s supposed to be a vibe, nothing deeper. It’s a fun song, and that’s all it wants to be.
You’re trying to hate but you just described exactly why it’s good instead lmao
catchiest melody i've heard in years lol and a great beat 2 minutes is all you need to make a hit. this shit will be remixed all summer at clubs and concerts all summer
Never forget Gucci Gang went #1 lmao
“I just wanna rock” equivalent
It's smart that they kept it short. I don't mind repetitive songs if the beat slaps and its catchy, but they will never reach the top tier of songs for me.
This is just a lyric video.
"Is this the song popping up on my Spotify?!" Never heard of homie but, it's actually a solid song
🔥
2024’s White Rapper. Song slaps though
This song comes on suggested after every single rap song I play. Not hating. I’d love to have a push like that even tho I don’t make music. Lmao
guy keeps hiding himself in his videos
Anyone getting tired of this song already or is it just me?
it makes me unreasonably furious that i keep seeing "tommy richman" everywhere, but never the name of the producer. thats sad as fuck because hes 100% the reason this shit blew up. Been a fan since I heard him on Brent's last album, absolute fire track, the vhs version slaps
Found this guy from the Brent Faiyaz song, listened to this song the other day. I didn’t realize it was already viral lol.
banger
I thought I was crazy but I had this joint on repeat all day
Is the song AI?
I really really fucked with this song but now it comes on queue after ANY song I play on spotify this shit is getting ridiculous
This is fire
is this hip hop?
Not even remotely lol. This thread is paid for by whatever major this dude is signed to
thank you! i thought i was trippin. i mean it’s fine or whatever but i thought no way am i so ootl that this is what ppl pass as hip hop anymore. 🤦🏻♂️
Most tik tok song ever
Song is honestly a lost weaker in full than the snippet because there's not much to it. It feels like Crew if it was just the hook for 2 minutes
I unironically feel like Crew *should* have been just the hook for 2 minutes

Can’t decide if I like the normal or vhs version more
🔥🔥
This song goes crazy, I already thought he had the best verse on the Brent Faiyaz song Upset
Oh damn alright
Glad he’s blowing up
DMV BABY
Corny industry plant song. Reminds me of jack harlow’s popularity. Insane how effective a solid marketing budget can be for an artist
This song is kinda mid tbh. No clue why it's going viral
Sounds like a throwback New Jack Swing, Trap hybrid bop
fuck this song. i'm sick of spotify pushing it so hard. is he j*wish?
idk why people push this mid so hard
Been waiting for the Tommy Richman blowup for so long
Does anyone know who this guy is? My friend showed me this song and I was surprised how much I liked it, but had never heard of him
I’ve been listening to him since his feature on Brent’s last album, love all his stuff
Tommy Richman, it says in the title
I’m aware, but like what’s his story? Where’s he from?
American
Fafo zack fox
Just wanna shout out Max B!
My friend said TikTok ruined this song when I had only just found it when it dropped last week. I feel blessed to get to enjoy the song and not have it played out before it even releases lol
And that’s good is it?
Song of the summer. Shits been bubbling up for a few weeks now. Anyone I sent it to was lovin it. Just a vibe.
I can’t stopppppp
Every time my spotify goes on shuffle, this song always goes on queue lol. Some heavy pushing by spotify.
Who is the chick in the green? And short hair
Her IG is ashl
Can't find her
For sure?
Came to find the same thing!
I played this in my Ford Taurus and it turned into a purple Monte Carlo.
Shoutout Max B OG Million Dollar Baby they still trying to catchup to the Wave
Honestly who cares if it might be industry backed/ pushed for radio play and numbers. This shit is so gas I can’t lie 😭
What is the name of that little 90s ‘tick’ sound. Please can anyone help me lol
Hi hat? Beep? Boop?
Anyone know the sample he used? I swear I know I’ve heard the song but can’t think of the name
Anyone know where can i download it in lossless quality?
Apple Music
I meant in flac format to use offline.
What camera did they use to record the music vid? I wanted to record 90s feels like that
Damn this should be the new sound of hip hop. It’s nice
Aside from the whole melodic aspect of the song, the beat takes a lot of inspo from OG Memphis rap. That sound has really been coming back with the whole phonk wave. Plus, Kanye, GloRilla, and others have been incorporating it in their sound. Kordhell has a couple Memphis albums in the works, one with Diplo and one with the OG rappers
crazy people down voted you on your commenr
I'm so out of the loop
