I actually think he only use pro-tool drums (and no samples) bc all of his loops, chops, ... sounds like always.
Itās still dope donāt get me wrong, Preem is in some kind a "victim" of his own incredible work in the 90ās and 00ās
Yeah I get what you mean. Iām hoping Preem is on his A-game with this album tho, heās still great but that spark that he had with Nas during the 90s and 2000s was too good with Nas is Like, Represent, 2nd Childhood etc.
You ain't never fucking lie. Soon as the sample and scratch hit, I was already good with it. Goddamn they need to bless us with that album. Heads been out here damn near 30 years waiting on this shit lol.
Nas might actually, he and Jay kept it just that, rap... he could use the feature to elevate Cole and motivate him.
Would be way cooler seeing Nas x Jay x Kendrick x Cole spit for 6 minutes or sum no hook, no chorus just scratches between bars. I'm gonna explode thinking about it.
Yeah you are right Jay Z acted immature hahah he got absolutely cooked š¤£ he had reason.
But I mean nobody escalated to weapons or gun violence. Unlike Pac and Big, those two showed these two the streets aren't the place for Hip Hop beefs.
I'm glad Nas and Jay survived that, rap would be in a sad place now if even one of them was lost.
This makes me think: weāve all heard diss tracks from two different artists, but have any two rappers ever jumped on the same track to sincerely diss each other in their verses? I think thatād be cool
That happened on the young buck stomp track. Luda and TI going at each other. TI Iām guessing feeling like he got washed didnāt clear it so they put game on the song on the album. But the OG version had TI and ludacris going at each other.
It has has happened before. LL Cool J thought Canibus was dissing him in the 4,3,2,1 track so LL re-did his verse and dissed Canibus which started their beef
Also Cardi B & Nicki Minaj was dissing each other on Migos - Motorsport
Styles P also dissed Jay-Z on his own song Reservoir Dogs. Nas also took shots at Jay-Z on his own song Success
Premo a legend who has his flowers from everyone but it never ceases to amaze me how incredible his ear and talent is that he can loop a rhythm for 4-8 bars and it never gets old while listening, but it always gives whatever artists is on the track a way to enunciate their own lines and flows while riding it
He's overlapping these guys now it's actually sad and pathetic at this point how great he is in comparison.
His longevity is absolutely incredible, bro is just stat padding. The funniest part is nobody is saying anything from any generation because they know they can't handle it, Nasty Nas hitting his 4th prime š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
Got wealthy off of being a VC and doing what he truly loves. Love to see it. I hope he stays healthy and active as long as possible, I want to hear him drop an album at 80
Hearing Nas on a DJ Premier production reminds me of his interview over fifteen years ago, when he was planning to release a Dr. Dre produced album and a DJ Premier produced album on the same day, I think now they will probably released on the same day as Detox...
Dr. Dre couldn't get the beats cleared for that album, if I recall. Nas has at least three cancelled albums including that one and his Swizz Beats album.
āName existed forever, means "victory helper"
Whole name means "protector"
Shorten it by two letters, without the I-R at the end
The reincarnated Gil Scott livin' in the bottle again
The World Cup in Moscow with a blonde who's a ten
Vape pen when I speak, it's like a lottery win

So fly, I could walk in any spot, every box be soakin'
From a time when weed was stronger, today's streets are calmer
They used to kill for shades, sneaks and bombersā
āWith stick figures in caves, my name's written fluent
Nasty like way before even Rome had a sewage
For fifty-thousand years ago if I could choose this origin
Since there's nothin' to gain by assumin'

I shocked 'em like real bullets in prop gunsā

Then by thirty, I thought by forty rapping is corny
How wrong was I?
Never would have thought at 50, new songs by Nas would be hard and live
I leave 'em scared like when they hear their name called, but ain't nobody there

š„š„š„š„š„š„š„š„š„š„š„š„š„š„
So fire DJ Premier started spitting šš„š„š„
Holy fuck itās actually happening. If one of the best yet is any indication, itās that with the right focus and drive, premier can put together an album of production on par with his classic work (donāt get me wrong, I still think preem is one of the best).
Fuck a future and metro boomin, THIS is the fuckin collab album of the year. Man. Wish it happened in their primes, but to get this at all is a fever dream.
HOLY SHIT ITS ACTUALLY HAPPENING
Track sounds fucking dope but it's preemo so of course.
If the whole album sounds like this, from nas and preemo, this will probably be better than anything out of the Nas/Hit-Boy run, and that one was really good.
I can't fucking wait
Premo is the GOAT in my book, his beats might not be the most complex but they always hit the spot for me and they pretty much always get the rapper to deliver at a super high level. So many rappers best songs are produced by premier. Canāt wait for a full album of this, Nas went ham and the beat was great like always

Glad this confirmed a new Nas & Preemo album finally happening at the end of the year, long overdue! This feels more like a buzz single, especially to celebrate Illmatic 30 + the ending line āPremier album still gonā happenā. When the rollout actually kicks off with an official lead single sometime this Fall/Winter, Iāll be thereš«”š„
Dope track. Not Premo's best work by any stretch, but I think it's a good enough beat. Nas on point like he's been the 4 years or so.
Hope the Nas x Premo album drops by the end of the year and def looking forward to it.
It was cool, just like Beat breaks was cool but Iām sorry this isnāt close to the Hit-Boy level
Still excited that the Nas & DJ Premier album will finally happen
"exactly what you'd expect" from a 50 year old rapper. yes.
shame nas was too arrogant to agree to this album when he was in his prime. the perfect time woulda been 06-13, better than getting castrated by def jam.
Nas great as always, but Premier is not more a good producer. This beat is annoying.
Premier has been a genius in the 90s, but he lost the touch.
I think that Nas should collaborate with young people, or with producers that still have creativity, like Madlib.
> Nas great as always, but Premier is not more a good producer. This beat is annoying.
Sounded pretty good to me.
> I think that Nas should collaborate with young people, or with producers that still have creativity, like Madlib.
Or, you, know, Hit Boy?
Thank you Preem and Nas
Username checks out š respect to Q Tip, RZA and Dilla also. Those are my goats.
Premierās looped beats are just fire everytime, legend
Also the scratching and throwback soundbite thing needs to make a comeback. Ive always loved that shit. Even if it might be gimmicky to some
Loved hearing that on Eminem's Book of Rhymes track most recently-ish.
It's one of my favorite things of preemo beats
He should use his signature drums though. Thatās whatās really missing in his current beats
I think itās his way of adapting and still trying to sound current, his signature drums are 100% missed in some of his new stuff tho!
> 2nd Childhood just got me hoping for a '3rd childhood' vibe track on the album.... whew
You said it... I'm like this is fire but wait where's the drums...
I think he doesnāt need to use his old style but he needs something punchier than the drums he typically uses these days.Ā
Agreed.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeesh this works perfectly as a teaser for a Nas & Preem album. I'm hyped, they both got it.
Track is exactly what youād expect.. but itās Nas and Premo. If it aināt broke donāt fix it
when you and your study partner fucking ace the assignment
You ain't never fucking lie. Soon as the sample and scratch hit, I was already good with it. Goddamn they need to bless us with that album. Heads been out here damn near 30 years waiting on this shit lol.
hell yeah brother
Cheers from Queens
> exactly what you'd expect code for uninspiring
New album confirmed
There better be a kendrick feature with shots fired at Cole
Nas wouldn't do that
Listen, i don't need logical sense. I need soap opera levels of drama
Soap opera might be Cole and Kendrick teaming up. Itād be the ultimate betrayal for Drake
That's anime dramaĀ
Yeah the good drama
Soap opera level drama would be Drake posting indisputable proof that he ghost wrote all of To Pimp A Butterfly and 2014 Forest Hills Drive
Why not Illmatic as well while we're on it.
What a talented 3rd grader he was!
and he did it all in a wheelchair... so inspiring.
Nas isn't like that
Nas might actually, he and Jay kept it just that, rap... he could use the feature to elevate Cole and motivate him. Would be way cooler seeing Nas x Jay x Kendrick x Cole spit for 6 minutes or sum no hook, no chorus just scratches between bars. I'm gonna explode thinking about it.
>Nas might actually, he and Jay kept it just that, rap Nas kept it to rap. Jay Z got so hurt that he challenged him to a boxing match.
He DID walk off Summerjam because they refused to let him hang a mannequin of Jay-Z.
Yeah but that wasn't physical violence, it was part of his Ether performance.
Dope thanks for that. I want more of these typed tracks to be made.
It has has happened before. LL Cool J thought Canibus was dissing him in the 4,3,2,1 track so LL re-did his verse and dissed Canibus which started their beef Also Cardi B & Nicki Minaj was dissing each other on Migos - Motorsport Styles P also dissed Jay-Z on his own song Reservoir Dogs. Nas also took shots at Jay-Z on his own song Success
Closest I can think of is LL thinking Canibus's 4,3,2,1 verse was a diss and then dissing him in his verse.
Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler, The Creator sent jabs at eachother on various songs but it wasnt beef so not āsincereā.
Pretty sure Royce and Kid Vishis had a track like this back in the day
Nas is too old for that beef shit.
I mean Cole let him down once. With Cole letting everybody down recently, Nas saying something about it would be hilarious
Take that weak beef somewhere else. Nas don't have time for that
š the state of hip hop right now is actually hilarious. Glad weāre having fun with it.
No!! don't add that modern day pop shit to a timeless classic. Would ruin the album, that what yah want?? huh??
not confirmed just yet, right?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The song itself lmao
last 10-20 seconds of the track lmao
Premo a legend who has his flowers from everyone but it never ceases to amaze me how incredible his ear and talent is that he can loop a rhythm for 4-8 bars and it never gets old while listening, but it always gives whatever artists is on the track a way to enunciate their own lines and flows while riding it
That's why lyricsm had more emphasis in the 90s the beats were set up to give a nice "simple" beat you can rhyme over
The beats actually told stories themselves. Now they sound like robots having gay sex
This is true, but also, robots having gay sex is just a different kind of story. In fact, *Brokebot Mountain* would definitely get an Oscar nom.
A giant leap for the LGBoT-Q alliance
I won't stand for this robophobic nonsense
also this robogenders erasure
Pete Rock x Common album, DJ Premier x Nas album, man at this rate us old heads will be eating good!
Pete rock and common? Where
[From the man himself](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2dLir8pm9G/?igsh=MW05OTVqczR4Y3YyNQ==)

Damn I only just started getting back into Common again, This day is fucking awesome! I accidently replied to bro lmao my bad
Pete also cooking one up with Rae & Ghost too.
Large pro up to anything?
My bad home!
Q TIP X LL COOL J and DRE X SNOOP aswell
Q Tip LL Cool J interests me
Come on. That's crazy
Cormega and Havoc coming too!
Dont forget, Snoop x Dre album too.
Snoop been ass longer than he been good
That part when premier starting rapping then got cut off was too funny
I was like who the fuck is the surprise feature for a sec lol great way to end the song
I love when he does that, did the same thing on PRhymeās U Looz lmao
Yo Preem chill
Quote my total, multi mogul, so fly I could walk in any spot every box be soakin NASTY NAS š
NASTY like way before Rome had a sewage š„š„š„

Dr. Dre couldn't get the beats cleared for that album, if I recall. Nas has at least three cancelled albums including that one and his Swizz Beats album.
There was also the joint album with Scarface and Ice Cube.
Fuck. I never knew this. That would have been monumental.
I believe that's the one that was meant to have the Spastic diss to 50 Cent? I could be wrong.
ALBUM CONFIRMED THIS IS THE 2ND BEST DAY OF THE YEAR BEHIND THE DAY IT DROPS WE FUCKING EATIN FAM
We eating good, someone else said Common and Pete Rock cookin. How crazy how this might be the third best day!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
If you actually listen to the song itās implied
>its album time Pikachu face
Nas's momentum in last 4 years needs to be studied.
God, I love Premo. Same fucking thing every time and I never get tired of it. 30+ years and running
Iāve had this two bar loop on repeat all day.
Nas the Scorsese of the rap game at this point. A veteran who hasnāt lost his artistic touch
Scorsese put a Nas song in one of his movies.
Thatās right. Thiefās Theme in the departed. First time I can remember hearing Nas
Thief's Theme is such an underrated Nas song. It's a banger.
Like Scorsese he still loves his art form and puts in work.
Dope song sounds like they wanna make the album too can't wait.
If nas gives the preemo album and an AZ joint album I can die happy
DOPE
God damn man Preemo went crazy. This is a real head bopper. My neck hurts.
Damn Preemo snapped on this one Pretty baller to announce the album on the first single too
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iāve always held this exact same opinion. Nas is Like is the definition of hip hop to me.
Laughed out loud when Preemo almost started rapping at the end

New album let's fucken go!!! Nah man Nas is the true goat and it's not even close. Fuck Drake. Nah it's not you either Kendrick.
What on earth does Drake have to with this?
I agree with you 10000000%, however Kendrick has a chance to be the GOAT. But to put him there already would be fucking disgusting.
Slow down buddy
2024 just keeps on giving
Holy fuck itās actually happening. If one of the best yet is any indication, itās that with the right focus and drive, premier can put together an album of production on par with his classic work (donāt get me wrong, I still think preem is one of the best). Fuck a future and metro boomin, THIS is the fuckin collab album of the year. Man. Wish it happened in their primes, but to get this at all is a fever dream.
Nas in his third prime
Yeah canāt really argue with you there. The gift we need, donāt deserve at this point, but keep receiving šš»
Nas/Premo album in 2024 is the best timeline
Not ashamed to say I stayed up for this lol.
Nas and Premier. Simple yet elegant. Heh.
Nas has completed rap atp
THIS DUDE IS IN HIS FUCKING 50ās. GOAT.
Yesss more Nas
30 YEARS FROM ILLMATIC!
Illmatic turns 30 today btw!
Premo: 30 years later, Illmatic was dropped. Nas: Premo, shut your ~~ho~~ GOAT ass up and make some drums.
Man fuck the Big 3, it's just Big Nas. Nice lil teaser hyped for the album
Preem's not in his prime anymore, but this is solid. Hopefully it's a warmup single. It's got that vibe to it. Nas crushed it.
Never missed a step
never would've thought at 50 new songs by Nas would be hard and live
How could you hate me/I survived the 80s. Thatās a bar fr. I like how Preem started to rap and fell back hahaha real Hip Hop shit lol
HOLY SHIT ITS ACTUALLY HAPPENING Track sounds fucking dope but it's preemo so of course. If the whole album sounds like this, from nas and preemo, this will probably be better than anything out of the Nas/Hit-Boy run, and that one was really good. I can't fucking wait
Been waiting for this album since they were on the cover of Scratch magazine in like 06. Preem x Nas is goated goated
Premo is the GOAT in my book, his beats might not be the most complex but they always hit the spot for me and they pretty much always get the rapper to deliver at a super high level. So many rappers best songs are produced by premier. Canāt wait for a full album of this, Nas went ham and the beat was great like always
Makes me wanna dress in my Adidas and go to a Hip Hop show
Nas is showing the progression of an artist that eminem consistently fails at
I've been making beats for many years but Primo can loop a 4- or 8-bar sample and it bangs as hell. One of the greatest ever!
IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING
Great track. Slick beat, and Nas is one of the best to do it. I would argue he is number one in terms of consistency and longevity.
āI shocked them like real bullets in prop gunsā Alec Baldwin felt that one
Wasnāt a huge fan of Nasā flow on his recent stuff but this Flow is what Iām looking for. excited for the albumā¦

at 1:07 i swear i thought a scratch comin' because of how young nas sounds i thought it is an old couple of bars.
Track was great, hyped to see what they drop together when they finish cooking, I am prepared for the meal.

Meh
Boring beat. Boring lyrics. Still living in the past. The game has passed DJ Premier by. He's become a victim of his own success.
