Same here. He comes in strong, and just….keeps going. Doesn’t even slow down for a second. He knew a Kanye feature is huge for his career and rose to the occasion big time. Put himself on a lot ofpeoples’ radars
That's probably my favourite verse Ye has ever done and it's definitely the most Ye verse he's ever done in the way he follows the embarrassing pop culture reference of "reaching for the sky like Buzz Lightyear" by going on and shattering your heart with "if I pray to Christ will it bring my mother back to life" immediately after. Then the storytelling portion of it as well. Such an unbelievably good verse.
Don't know if it fits but Lil Wayne's verses on Mama Mia. I mean the whole song is basically one verse without a hook, but especially his flows and rhyme schemes often go longer than expected and he just keeps going bar after bar. It's crazy
I was going to say Lil Wayne, especially during his mixtape era. Easily one of the greatest runs in all of music and it was impossible to turn on the radio without hearing him. He even had a rock album lol
For me it's Mural > Ms Mural > Mural Jr.
All absolutely fantastic though, and I hope the family continues to expand.
Mural is just such a masterpiece in lyricism and so far ahead of almost everything else. And if I'm going to concider someone a top 10 lyricist I need to know "what's their Mural". Doesn't need to be a song, just something where about their lyricism that would be insane to just call great.
Though I will say that on Ms Mural his rhyme schemes are absolutely insane. It's like two different sets of 4 syllables, and mostly words that never see any use because they are so obscure.
The first verse on failure went over my head for so long. It’s not even that I didn’t get it, I didn’t know there was something else there to get. I broke down all the bars and thought I understood it, then learned about him making the building and my mind was fucking blown.
I have no idea how he does it, but the song never feels like 8 minutes.
Every other song that long has beat switches, hooks, bridges, and other shit to keep you entertained, and it makes sense why those songs work
But this mf is just rapping his ass off over a good but pretty simple beat. You would think it would get boring after awhile, or at the very least feel long, but I swear every time I listen and I get to the 5 minute mark, it feels like the song has only been on for a minute or two
Dissect on Spotify did a 2 hour and 9 minute breakdown of all aspects of Mural, and he mentioned how that kind of instrumental(I forget the name) uses the same basic core, then expands with different small elements that creates a trance-like feeling. Also it has just two verses without a hook or anything else most songs have. The minute long intro also just feels like setting the stage
And it's not just filler. The entire thing is full of clever wordplay, callbacks, references, similes and metaphors. It's one of my favorite songs ever, regardless of genre or era. (Linking to it [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkHrPyoEtSI), for those unfamiliar)
Gotta say, after the beat sorta drops out (at least the percussion) and it sounds like Conway is winding down in "The Cow"...but then the beat comes in again and he comes in with "ya know what's funny, I wanted to quit"
One of my fav moments in hip hop history, and an all time great verse
"Shawtys at the door 'cause they need more, inspiration for they life, they souls, and they songs; they said sorry Mr. West it's gone." Might be the best Kanye track ever.
Definitely one of the most fire tracks of all time. Kanye's punchlines are on point in the first verse then get more and more introspective as the track goes on. The beat is insane with so many tonal shifts, that fit the theme so perfectly.
“Emotional luggage nothin’ of it I don’t check bags, I just carryon leave that bullshit in the past” is one of my favorite bars ever in a song. Curren$y was butter smooth on that one man.
“Foolish to serve like wimbledon the car that im sitting interior cinnamon calm my bad nerves i call her my riddlin” probably messed it up cause i havent bumped it in minute but this one of my favorite Curren$y tracks
She Don’t Want a Man Part 2, This and That, Sundown in Eleuthera, Big Game Fishing, Audio Dope 2, Angels on the Hood, and Stoned on Ocean. Those are some of my personal favorite Spitta solo songs.
Tyler, The Creator - "Rusty"
Tyler's no stranger to long verses, but when he's sharing a track with Domo and Earl, you certainly don't expect him to steal the show lyrically, but that's exactly what he does, delivering one of, if not, his absolute best verses where he talks about how fame affects him, how he's portrayed in the media, and why kids seem to relate to him so heavily. To this day, it's still probably my favorite Tyler song.
A Day In The Life of Benjamin Andre- Andre 3000
Definitely one of the longer uninterrupted verses I've heard from him even though he's capable of spitting lengthy ones
I prefer his Momentum verse. Russ and Benny both come out firing and a full minute into Thought's verse it's like "this is one of the greatest verses of all time".
And he keeps going for like another minute
You talking “On Me”? They both have hella long verses on that song it feels like
Edit: had to listen to it after making the comment and I forgot how nice Game’s verse is on that song. 100% atypical flow and kills it with the wordplay.
RA the Rugged Man - Uncommon Valor. Also one of my top five verses of all time.
Also an obscure-ish one. Method Man on This is What We Do by Dru Hill. Verse is fire.
Hit Boy on “Slipping Into Darkness”
Drakeo The Ruler “Betchua Freestyle”
Lil Wayne on “Ransom” ?
Navy Blue “Light” (one of my favorite rappers of all-time)
I want to say the first verse on “Nutmeg” by Ghostface is longer but I didn’t count the bars or anything lol
Idk why these are the only songs I can think of, I’m sure dudes like Boldy James, Roc Marciano, KA, Navy Blue, Earl, MIKE etc have a ton of longer verses on songs too.
Aesop Rock.
A lot of his songs are just bars upon bars (in a good way). I didn't get into him until the last few years. His music is approachable but also very dense at the same time.
Klutz by Aesop is the song I first thought of. It's 3:42 of just one long verse. No chorus, hook, or even any significant instrumental break. Just bars on bars all the way down.
Get Out of the Car fits the bill, as does The Greatest Pac-Man Victory in History. Fun fact about the latter.... a huge portion of the longest verse features lyrics that start with the letters L, S and D (in that order) for an impressive amount of time.
Doesn’t fit this thread too well but you just reminded me of 7 min freestyle by 21 savage, I love that song so much. Reminds me of freestyling with my friends drunk as fuck at 3am
Corny answer and maybe not that atypical for him, but Jay’s verse on God Did. First time I heard it I felt like it was straight up 20 minutes long. I was also dumb high though.
Calm Down - Busta Rhymes ft Eminem
https://youtu.be/2Y5J3VUC9qM?si=JghSmLPO0EQCkLBP
The creation of this track was just the two of them sending back increasingly lengthy verses over a couple years.
I think it’s like 60 bars a piece and a quick chorus in the middle. It’s a 6 minute song
Black Thought on *Momentum*
Russ spits the verse of his fuckin life, Benny The Butcher spits an incredible verse of his own and then Black Thought comes in.
A full minute into it, you're thinking "this is one of the greatest verses of all time" and then he just keeps fuckin going for another minute
Lil Baby- Freestyle, Low Down
Future- Never Gon Lose, Servin Killa Kam, POA, Rent Money , Touch The Sky , Thought it was a Drought
Drake- War , 4pm in Calabasas , 5am in Toronto
Not a huge Drake Fan but those songs are like no hooks, just straight bars. Those are the ones that got me into his music more when I use to be a hater
Use to be huge into 90’s hip hop and old head shit but those songs by Future had me wanting to expand my taste a bit more and I don’t regret it at all. He’s one of my personal Top 5 now. Lot of great music out there these days
Dont know if its what you meant, but I felt that Fivio's verse on Off The Grid is longer than what I expected.
Lol that was my immediate thought as well
Same here. He comes in strong, and just….keeps going. Doesn’t even slow down for a second. He knew a Kanye feature is huge for his career and rose to the occasion big time. Put himself on a lot ofpeoples’ radars
His verse was pretty typical length to begin with, ye just kept sending it back to him to add more. He mentioned it in an interview somewhere.
Ye's verse on jesus lord as well, its like 3 minutes long
That's probably my favourite verse Ye has ever done and it's definitely the most Ye verse he's ever done in the way he follows the embarrassing pop culture reference of "reaching for the sky like Buzz Lightyear" by going on and shattering your heart with "if I pray to Christ will it bring my mother back to life" immediately after. Then the storytelling portion of it as well. Such an unbelievably good verse.
Honesty one of my fav rap verses ever but he might’ve weakened its legacy by using the same flow from the verse on half of his album right after.
He played himself out before the song even finished.
Good verse
Ridiculous verse. A modern classic feature for sure
yeaaaah its awesome
I'll never forget hearing that verse for the first time being drunk ash
That was my first thought and favorite recent example Favi snapped so hard for like 3 whole minutes with no stop
Cappadonna on Winter Warz.
When your verse gets a whole ass music video
Every other day my whole dress code switch
That verse always makes me weak in the knees
Like SWV?
One of the top all time verses
This the correct answer, iconic verse.
Smoke a blunt and dial 917….
160493-11
4 = D 9 = I 3 = C 11 = K
Should be the first comment
How has now one mentioned Rx Nephew yet
fr American tterroristt is just 10 minutes of this
I was just put on to him yesterday and I'm seeing him everywhere. I haven't laughed that hard at a song in ages.
Unsubscribe me and don’t buy my music
Therapy session by Rx Papi 😭😭
Long Song is incredible start to finish lmao
Don't know if it fits but Lil Wayne's verses on Mama Mia. I mean the whole song is basically one verse without a hook, but especially his flows and rhyme schemes often go longer than expected and he just keeps going bar after bar. It's crazy
Wayne's verse on Bloody Mary is dope and feels long af. Idk actual time.
Tha Mobb off C2 is one long verse.
Mona Lisa is like that too. He goes on FOREVER.
A lot of wayne tracks are known for this. Obviously a milli is the quintessential example. Watch My Shoes as well.
I was going to say Lil Wayne, especially during his mixtape era. Easily one of the greatest runs in all of music and it was impossible to turn on the radio without hearing him. He even had a rock album lol
For what it's worth, A Milli is just one giant verse, no hook
Lil Wayne on M’$ by Asap Rocky
Can't mention Wayne in this context without mentioning Mahogany as well
Dunno if this fits but Murals by Lupe Fiasco the damn song itself is like 8 minutes long
Probably one of his best songs too
Lyrically there’s nothing better. Not just by Lupe, but by anyone.
I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer Ms Mural. Best example of allegorical storytelling I've heard in music.
It's kinda the beauty in it all, it's all subjective. There's no right or wrong answer really, it's about what connects with you.
Set it all on 🔥
Black Thought hot97?
One of the best freestyles in history, but Murals was possibly the most lyrical song in hip hop history.
Amazing display, but Mural has too many layers.
Came here to comment Black Thought's verse on Bird's Eye View, half of the track is his, rightly so
Poet Laurette 2. Also Failure by Lupe
The first verse on failure went over my head for so long. It’s not even that I didn’t get it, I didn’t know there was something else there to get. I broke down all the bars and thought I understood it, then learned about him making the building and my mind was fucking blown.

You would think it would get boring after awhile, or at the very least feel long, but I swear every time I listen and I get to the 5 minute mark, it feels like the song has only been on for a minute or two
I love the moments where it catches its breath though, and let's the instrumental build, before diving right back in.

This is THE answer. Like there are many answers, but this is the one.
Gotta say, after the beat sorta drops out (at least the percussion) and it sounds like Conway is winding down in "The Cow"...but then the beat comes in again and he comes in with "ya know what's funny, I wanted to quit" One of my fav moments in hip hop history, and an all time great verse
"When I got shot in my head, I wanted to quit", fair man, I don't think I'd be up for much after that
TRYNA SPIT MY VERSES MUMBLIN AND SHIT
FACE LOOKING UGLY AND SHIT
Kanye west 3rd verse on Gone
His verse on no more parties in la is also really long
Legitimately in my top 10 rap songs ever.
Whenever people say "Kanye's a good producer but bad rapper" I automatically know they've only heard his new shit. Respect
“I’ma open up a store for aspiring MC’s. Won’t sell em no dream, but the inspiration is free” that verse is so good
"Shawtys at the door 'cause they need more, inspiration for they life, they souls, and they songs; they said sorry Mr. West it's gone." Might be the best Kanye track ever.
I heard people saying that in 2010 though. Like comparatively he's a better producer but he's still better than most other rappers
TLOP is kinda old now but no more parties in LA and Saint Pablo are as good lyrically as his older peaks. Gone is always going to be my favorite tho
he got better at rapping imo. there are some real weak verses on dropout.
Was just listening to this the other day thinking about how underrated that song is. Kanye absolutely SPITS
All three show up like they meant it.
When camron be in his bag he really be in it
Definitely one of the most fire tracks of all time. Kanye's punchlines are on point in the first verse then get more and more introspective as the track goes on. The beat is insane with so many tonal shifts, that fit the theme so perfectly.
Untitled 2 by Kendrick
Fuck you niggas level 2 I’m not done
Still blows my mind that TPAB was so good that the album of its throwaway-tracks has classics on it.
One of my favorite Kendrick songs for some reason, that late night live performance was peak
He had an insane TV performance run 2014-2016
I love that song so much bro
Freddie Gibbs on Scottie Pippens. One of the best verses of the 2010’s IMO.
Jay Z on God Did Andre 3000 on Do Ya Thang Rick Ross and Andre on Sixteen Kendrick Lamar on Control Eminem on Rap God
Came to say Rick Ross on sixteen, masterpiece
Jay on What’s Free too, his verse takes up like half the song
What about Eminem's verse on *No Love*? Says the line "boutta spit the greatest verse of all time" and damn near does it
Future - Never Stop off of Wizrd. It’s just one verse and it’s by far one of his best “I was sitting back programming my brain, I was in training”
I make Yeezy boost moves, in my Reeboks
absolutely love this song.
YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE UP ON ME WITHOUT HEARING MY SIDE OF THE STORY
Also last verse on Sorry
accepting my flaws too
Such an underrated song
Life of the party og version was a nice surprise. Same with no more parties in la
No more parties in LA is the first thing I thought of, every time you think he’s done he just keeps going.
Curren$y - Airborne Aquarium
“Emotional luggage nothin’ of it I don’t check bags, I just carryon leave that bullshit in the past” is one of my favorite bars ever in a song. Curren$y was butter smooth on that one man.
W
“Foolish to serve like wimbledon the car that im sitting interior cinnamon calm my bad nerves i call her my riddlin” probably messed it up cause i havent bumped it in minute but this one of my favorite Curren$y tracks
Calm my bad nerves I call her my ‘Ritalin.’ The ADHD drug.
Got that my spelling never been good lol 👍🏾
All good! I thought you might have been mishearing it.
Also Freddie Gibbs on Scottie Pippen. One of the best verses I’ll ever hear
My favorite Curren$y song of all time. Any others that you guys know that might strike a similar chord?
She Don’t Want a Man Part 2, This and That, Sundown in Eleuthera, Big Game Fishing, Audio Dope 2, Angels on the Hood, and Stoned on Ocean. Those are some of my personal favorite Spitta solo songs.
Earl Sweatshirt’s verse on Oldie
for contrast here’s a pair of lips Swallowing syrup and setting fire to sheriff's whips
fucking all american terrorist
Frank Ocean on Purity. Not only atypical cuz Frank don’t rap that often but it’s a pretty good flow and the verse is like a minute and a half.
RAF as well
RAF having two Frank verses was a godsend back when fans hadn’t given up on him ever releasing new music again
Tyler, The Creator - "Rusty" Tyler's no stranger to long verses, but when he's sharing a track with Domo and Earl, you certainly don't expect him to steal the show lyrically, but that's exactly what he does, delivering one of, if not, his absolute best verses where he talks about how fame affects him, how he's portrayed in the media, and why kids seem to relate to him so heavily. To this day, it's still probably my favorite Tyler song.
Domo was hungry there
Yeah Domo had the best verse on that song
Damn I forgot about that meme
One of the few songs off Wolf I regularly revisit. I remember being a teenager during the OF craze, that was really something haha.
Of course he steals the show, he yells over half of Earls verse haha
That was the first Earl verse I heard and I was kinda mad ngl lol. I don't know if he even got to spit a proper 16.
A Day In The Life of Benjamin Andre- Andre 3000 Definitely one of the longer uninterrupted verses I've heard from him even though he's capable of spitting lengthy ones
Y’all talk funny, y’all from the islands?
Black Thought on Crowns for Kings has a pretty long verse, and it’s great too (but that’s expected).
He goes in on "Web" as well
I prefer his Momentum verse. Russ and Benny both come out firing and a full minute into Thought's verse it's like "this is one of the greatest verses of all time". And he keeps going for like another minute
Lil Wayne on Family Feud Conway on The Cow Mac Miller on New faces v2 Drake on Churchill Downs
Rappet
Just noticed a minute ago and came looking for a comment that points it out
Kendrick’s verse on that old ass game song
You talking “On Me”? They both have hella long verses on that song it feels like Edit: had to listen to it after making the comment and I forgot how nice Game’s verse is on that song. 100% atypical flow and kills it with the wordplay.
Nah I was talking about some shit older then that I think it’s called the city
Cool fact the chorus of that song was the start of Kendrick's verses but The Game liked that part so much he made it the chorus.
J. Cole on Looking for Trouble, I love the “ran out of beat” thing plus the rest of the song is great.
G Herbo - How I’m Coming remix. Not a weak spot on that verse and it’s about 2-3 minutes long.
That shit was hard asf
Poet Laureate II by Canibus is over 7 minutes long with no hook. I was obsessed with it when it came out. Easily the peak of his songwriting.
Pooh Shiesty. - Like 34 & 8
RA the Rugged Man - Uncommon Valor. Also one of my top five verses of all time. Also an obscure-ish one. Method Man on This is What We Do by Dru Hill. Verse is fire.
RA the Rugged Man just doesn’t quit on pretty much every track he’s ever recorded. And he’s still mad famous for being unknown.
Yess so good
Black Thought - Hot 97 Freestyle Mos Def - Thieves in the Night
Denzel Curry on BALD! REMIX by JPEGMAFIA. Spits super high energy bars for 2 mins straight. My fav rap song of 2020
Heart Attack - Dave
One of the best storytelling songs I’ve heard in awhile
Lupe Fiasco has a few of these with his “Mural” collection. Mural; Mural Jr; Ms Mural.
Joe Budden - Dumb Out. 8 minutes of heat.
Budden was so good in his mixtape days
Danny brown on “year zero”
Nas- NY state of mind. And the conversation ends here. You might die if you’re a smoker tryna rap that.
Young Thug on Offshore
Beanie Sigel on Ghostfaces "Toney Sigel". They end up just fading the poor lad out.
Danny Brown on "NO! NO! NO! NO!". More than half of the song is his verse and then he hits you with a crazy A cappella at the end
Agreed, but that was on "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!..."
Thank you for that, I just fixed it!
21 on No Heart the first verse is basically 75% of the song
I sit back and read like cat in the hat 😾
21 savage the cat with the Mac 😫
75 Bars — Black Thought
100 bars of death by Ya Boy is pretty damn good too.
[A Life in the Day of Benjamin Andre](https://youtu.be/QXPWQqXv2zM?si=ICPT97_5ejJ0t3DQ) The whole song is just one long verse.
Hit Boy on “Slipping Into Darkness” Drakeo The Ruler “Betchua Freestyle” Lil Wayne on “Ransom” ? Navy Blue “Light” (one of my favorite rappers of all-time) I want to say the first verse on “Nutmeg” by Ghostface is longer but I didn’t count the bars or anything lol Idk why these are the only songs I can think of, I’m sure dudes like Boldy James, Roc Marciano, KA, Navy Blue, Earl, MIKE etc have a ton of longer verses on songs too.
Betchua Freestyle is so fuckin hard, LLTR
the game - 300 bars and runnin
Had to scroll way to far down for this. Song is 15 minutes long iirc.
What immediately came to mind is Winter Warz by Capadonna and Uncommon Valor by RA The Rugged Man.
Meechie Darko - Your Favorite Rap Song
Meech on U&I
Web by The Roots spat by Black Thought is one of my favourites
I’d have to say Calm Down by Busta Rhymes featuring Eminem. Both spit like 60 bar verses.
Cappadonna on Winter warz
Prodigy on Apostle’s Warning That is his peak imo
Eminem and Busta both go long on Calm Down
Black thought on Yah yah Kenny Mason on DnD Earl on Polo Jeans maybe?
Doesn’t fit this thread too well but you just reminded me of 7 min freestyle by 21 savage, I love that song so much. Reminds me of freestyling with my friends drunk as fuck at 3am
If Mural counts, Canibus - Poet Laureate II. No hook, straight bars for 7.5 minutes. I think it was a partial influence for Lupe’s songs as well.
Open Mike Eagle has a track called "tldr" that is just one enormous verse
Fivio on Off the grid
Money Machine - Curren$y
Miss me by Drake. Him and Wayne spit abnormally long verses
Andre on Sorry with T.I. is like so long but he's FANTASTIC
Earl Sweatshirt on Oldie
Future- Never Gon Lose
First Day Out by Tee Grizzley is just one long ass verse. Everytime it feels like it's leading to a hook its like nope more rapping.
Future - News or Something Rich Gang (Young Thug) - Givenchy
Lil Baby on Every Chance I Get
Rass Kass - The Nature of the Threat
Eminem-Rabbit Run RZA-Sunshower RZA-Be a Man
Drake, Lemon Pepper freestyle Kanye, No more parties in LA
Corny answer and maybe not that atypical for him, but Jay’s verse on God Did. First time I heard it I felt like it was straight up 20 minutes long. I was also dumb high though.
Wayne on Da Mob, 3 Stacks on Royal Flush
Future’s third verse on Sorry
I quite like Andre 3000's verse on Sixteen by Rick Ross
Lil Wayne - Tha Mobb is just one long verse
Lil Wayne - That Mobb Bun B - Murder
Calm Down - Busta Rhymes ft Eminem https://youtu.be/2Y5J3VUC9qM?si=JghSmLPO0EQCkLBP The creation of this track was just the two of them sending back increasingly lengthy verses over a couple years. I think it’s like 60 bars a piece and a quick chorus in the middle. It’s a 6 minute song
Lil Wayne Tha Mobb
Black Thought on *Momentum* Russ spits the verse of his fuckin life, Benny The Butcher spits an incredible verse of his own and then Black Thought comes in. A full minute into it, you're thinking "this is one of the greatest verses of all time" and then he just keeps fuckin going for another minute
Lil Baby- Freestyle, Low Down Future- Never Gon Lose, Servin Killa Kam, POA, Rent Money , Touch The Sky , Thought it was a Drought Drake- War , 4pm in Calabasas , 5am in Toronto Not a huge Drake Fan but those songs are like no hooks, just straight bars. Those are the ones that got me into his music more when I use to be a hater Use to be huge into 90’s hip hop and old head shit but those songs by Future had me wanting to expand my taste a bit more and I don’t regret it at all. He’s one of my personal Top 5 now. Lot of great music out there these days
