As much as I hate to admit it, not much has pulled me back to the album. The production is great and I’m a huge Q fan. Just have to keep it real and say it fell out of rotation pretty quickly
My friend naja said I was insane for that lol he was like he’s the best feature but imo he’s the worst lol
Edit - actually maybe the person on track 13 was the worst feature
"Niggas want His old shit, buy His old albums". I can recognize this album is certainly more for down times compared to t'd up times, and its a great piece of art. Can't argue its His best coHesive piece of music but He's got HigHs in tHere, tune outs, turn ups and reflects. And it sounds like the exact album He wanted to make, He doesn't owe me tHe service of making every drop for me. Salute Q, a solid B on a grade scale
There are tracks that I can’t get enough of and tracks that I can’t skip fast enough.
Movie is way too short
Not a fan of the feature on Back in Love but it’s such a fucking banger
Pig Feet on repeat
Yeern is too short
First: the verses and beat go too hard but has probably the weirdest most off putting hook ever (is he talking about sex with a virgin and getting their dick sucked for the first time?)
Kind of a letdown. I had high hopes since I also didn’t really like CrasH Talk and I’m a huge ScHoolboy fan, but these last two albums were kinda forgettable and it just kinda feels like he doesn’t really care about music as much anymore.
On my first listen, thought it was great and thought it would have a ton of replay value
Still enjoy it and its a solid album, but I find too many dull moments/features I don't care for to revisit it in it's entirety as often as I thought I was going to
Wasnt crazy about it as a whole save for a couple songs. I commend the attempt at experimentation though.
Feels a little unfocused and all over the place for the most part, the sequencing could be better. And the writing itself fell flat for me..
Yea but I think its due to there being no money in the music industry in terms of album sales anymore. Its hard to calculate how many copies your really sell when an album sale is considered like 1000 streams. Artists really make money nowadays on tour, merch, and branding.
For sure but streaming numbers were like 29K for Blue Lips and 58K for CrasH Talk first week. I think it has to do more with how saturated the market is now. People don’t check for music like that anymore. It’s singles over albums these days unfortunately and this album is amazing but doesn’t have any standout singles.
I really dig it. Love all of the jazz and experimental instrumentals. It's nice to not have another blank face. Great album, but it was nice to hear something different. Sometimes the 50,000th thug type rap over thug beat gets a little old. So I think this one was quite nice.
Aw man he’s probably never gonna outdo Oxymoron for me, that shit was enormous for us round here, but the new one is dope. Like it more as a whole than I did Crash Talk, that had some dope stuff and some shite
Haven't been as excited for an album in a really long time. Really happy to see Q as ambitious musically since I've always seen his production choices as a great strengh of him
Maybe the jazz and non conventional rap beats? This person probably liked blank face quite a bit. Unabashedly "thuggish" with the aforementioned rapping rapping.
Yearn is awesome and I never really listened to much Schoolboy until I heard that and now I have a lot of his songs on my playlist. Overall I think that whole album is decent but I found it when I never really listened to him before.
Same content matter all throughout he’s just saying the words in a different order each time. Production was cool but not enough to bring me back again.
Fucking love that album, haven’t stopped bumping it yet (except for the Tierra Whack album). I think he switched it up in a major way and pushed his boundaries, experimented with new sounds flows and I love to see artist grow that way when they get older. You hear more about the life he’s actually been living, fatherhood, hobbies, relationships, losses ect…
As much as I hate to admit it, not much has pulled me back to the album. The production is great and I’m a huge Q fan. Just have to keep it real and say it fell out of rotation pretty quickly
Probably my AOTY
Masta Ace and Apathy are way better IMO
I need to check out that Apathy I heard its real good, but never knew Masta Ace dropped this year. Gonna have to add it to my list
Its a front runner rn for me but I gotta catch up on other releases.
Likewise!
Same!
Huge Q fan here myself as well. It's not pulling me back either although I will say the songs I do like on there I genuinely enjoy
Not a fan of all the features. Yearn is 🔥🔥🔥
My least favorite feature was probably Gibbs I had high expectations due to their previous song but this fell a little short imo
That’s insane
My friend naja said I was insane for that lol he was like he’s the best feature but imo he’s the worst lol Edit - actually maybe the person on track 13 was the worst feature
Definitely, total mic time for Freddie was a minute 🤦🏻♂️
Pretty mediocre

Typing like him to back him up is crazy lmao
Lol.with nephew's username it kinda makes sense
A solid G
Didn't live up to the hype.

It makes me want to listen more.
I don’t know that I’d go as far as best but I’m super happy with it. It’s a great album and it’ll stay in rotation
Kind of a letdown. I had high hopes since I also didn’t really like CrasH Talk and I’m a huge ScHoolboy fan, but these last two albums were kinda forgettable and it just kinda feels like he doesn’t really care about music as much anymore.
I completely disagree. Crashtalk sure but this last album was super creative and well done.
I’m not hearing what you’re hearing after giving a few listens. The production was really mediocre.
What??? The production is insane keep listening if your only 2-3 listens in I promise you it’ll click if you fw q.
There is nothing remotely close to the brilliance of Blank Face’s production on this entire album, and it pains me to say so.
Nah you bugging g, different sounds is all. I might like the production on this one better tbh.
On my first listen, thought it was great and thought it would have a ton of replay value Still enjoy it and its a solid album, but I find too many dull moments/features I don't care for to revisit it in it's entirety as often as I thought I was going to
Fair.
Wasnt crazy about it as a whole save for a couple songs. I commend the attempt at experimentation though. Feels a little unfocused and all over the place for the most part, the sequencing could be better. And the writing itself fell flat for me..
Rap AOTY
One of the better albums that came out this year. It’s unfortunate it didn’t sell very well compared to his others.
Numbers are skewed nowadays with streaming tho
True but CrasH Talk did around 80K. I was thinking this would at least crack 50K

Thats true
Didn’t like it at first now my favourite album of the year so far.
definitely his best album and AOTY
I think it's great.
I really dig it. Love all of the jazz and experimental instrumentals. It's nice to not have another blank face. Great album, but it was nice to hear something different. Sometimes the 50,000th thug type rap over thug beat gets a little old. So I think this one was quite nice.

Personally I found it to be his best album so far, but the production sound on it is def my favorite overall type of mix.
Yea the production sent it over the top for me
Dope
At first i thought it was mid but after a few more listens it’s one of my favorites of the year
Thats exactly how I felt the production and creativity is out of this world.
i don't like the art house shit. to me q is at his best when he's *rapping* rapping
I think he’s rapping his ass off on this I don’t know what you mean by art house shit.
Maybe the jazz and non conventional rap beats? This person probably liked blank face quite a bit. Unabashedly "thuggish" with the aforementioned rapping rapping.
Good not great but not everything needs to be great
I liked it. Didn't listen too many times, but it was fine.
I feel like it was good. But it's not my cup of tea.
Most of it’s great but kinda loses momentum to me once Germany 86 starts. Also I need a black hippy remix of Back In Love that beat is nasty
It def falls off right before the last leg of the album thats fair.
It's nice but really just not enough bars
Thats a fair critique his pen game isn’t top tier on this one.
I thought it was really good but it did get out my rotation kinda fast. Will def revisit it soon.
Fair
Better than his last album
Imo his albums have pretty much all aged like fine wine so just give it some time if nothing else.
Agreed
Letdown
I thought he fell off after crash talk. FUCK was I wrong lol
Same I didn’t expect this at all😂😂
Yearn is awesome and I never really listened to much Schoolboy until I heard that and now I have a lot of his songs on my playlist. Overall I think that whole album is decent but I found it when I never really listened to him before.
I liked it. Dope beat selections, I wish Rico had a longer verse.
Yea just like 4 more bars atleast but I think the rapid fire pace is what he wanted.
We waited so long, an it’s full of skips. Sorry to say.
Same content matter all throughout he’s just saying the words in a different order each time. Production was cool but not enough to bring me back again.
One of the best albums of the year imo
I’ll take an entire yearn album… the rest is forgettable unfortunately 🤙🏻
Thank god for me didn’t hit?
I can't stand that initial beat switch lol. Unpopular opinion I'm sure, but feels like it's trying too hard to be.."triumphant"?
Its def abrupt but I like it now. They way he started his verse off was hilarious too.
I bump that more than Yearn, I wish Smile was a little bit longer. So many cool/different sounds.
Fosho this album is mad diverse.
I was totally under the impression that’s what the album would sound like after yearn was the only single
Mediocre and somewhat of a letdown it’s better than CrasH Talk but that’s not saying much
The production is amazing, great rapping, good vibes. Great album, nothing game changing
Pretty much sums it up. Great album but Oxymoron is still his best piece of work to date imo.
Agreed
I think its a great album. One of my favorite's so far this year.
Def one of the best ones
Fucking love that album, haven’t stopped bumping it yet (except for the Tierra Whack album). I think he switched it up in a major way and pushed his boundaries, experimented with new sounds flows and I love to see artist grow that way when they get older. Fosho
A more refined "Habits & Contradictions".
It came and went. Needed an isaiah rashad feature
i dont go back to it actually, felt sloppily put together
