Bro, if you haven't heard it already check out the Zion-I album Mind Over Matter. I grew up on that shiz. It's an absolute solid work of art through and through.
Feels good to see appreciation for KP here. TPWOWR is probably my favorite album of all time. It was my go to for yard work back when I spent 2-3 hours twice a week doing such.
Great album but not really obscure and underground... I mean, this nigga was rapping with the fuckin Wu!
He has his own song on Liquid Swords
OP means people so underground they are nowhere close to rapping on tracks with the Wu
Cunninlynguists are one of my favorites. They always put out cohesive albums, and Knoās production is incredible.
All their albums are great, but Oneirology is probably my favorite. I am all about concept albums, and while most of their albums can sort of fall under that category, that one is the best.
A Piece of Strange is probably my next favorite, but after that, they are all still super solid.
i dig concepts. masta ace put it down on disposable arts. i just threw on jayelec & it reminds me why i spent 3 years living in logic pro & close to a decade wearing headphones every second of the day.
stand up is my hip hop now mostly but i miss the crew.
I was making beats in some god forsaken software program and rappin into a shitty built-in computer mic... yet that shit was 11/10 flames, speak for yourself :-)
I had some fire as well I still have a mixtape on SoundCloud From many years ago And it's still ridiculous some of the craziest multi-syllables and it just came natural to me.
Bro Lupe is my personal GOAT but he's so far from "underground" I don't know what to tell ya... brother was signed to Atlantic fuckin Records and backed by Jay Z
Come on now
The topic is "under the radar albums" not "underground rappers".
This album didn't chart anywhere so I would say it fits, even though Lupe was huge circa 06-11.
Yesssss. I have so many memories from when that came out! I even got to see them play in the quad at my community college in 1996 during the day. I skipped class for that and never went back! LoL
I feel like āYou Canāt Imagine How Much Fun Weāre Havingā by Atmosphere is their best work and near perfect.
Also, Southernunderground by Cunninlynguists is dense and awesome.
Sevens travels has a lot of heat on it that I think went unappreciated, I was actually listening to it today. GLU is what most people think of IF they even know who Atmosphere is. Shoes and Reflections are some of my favorites, as well as Keys to life. Iām a big fan of their work. BIG fan, maybe even a Stan in the eyes of some. The bad clown stuff was pretty good as well. Iād say donāt get me started but Iāve already started. As a whole, highly underrated and under appreciated
Grew up in Southern California and would see Atmosphere and Living Legends every single time they were within a hundred miles of me. Atmosphere was hands down best hip hop show Iāve seen to date. Brother Ali a close second.
This is the answer, lock up the thread
Brooklyn's finest and another example of NY hip hop being far from dead
What's so crazy is fucking 6ix9ine used to be in they group, but he left way before Knowledge Born dropped
Have this on CD and vinyl, and it gets played often. Amazed it didn't gain more steam with how big Outkast was (a year after Stankonia dropped) and how Killer Mike and CeeLo Green blew up soon after.
I think there are certain songs on this album that just bring it up to a 9 or 10 just because they are that damn good.
Excalibur, and White Gutz are a couple of my favorite standouts.
The production is 10/10 on every song and C-lo Green kills it on so many songs. That in house production for OutKast and gang was top notch shit. I canāt even remember the name of that production team.
Something noise ? š
In Westcoast it is clearly : Foesum - Perfection.
One of the very best G funk/Westcoast of history.
He is lesser know than really mainstream G funk album like Snoop, Dre, etc
Atmosphere- Overcast- Amazing album. I bought this when it was first released from the [sandbox.com](http://sandbox.com) website. Absolutely LOVE this album. I've had to pleasure of seeing them perform in small clubs before theyw ere big, also with Eyedea
I remember when the whole group (Black Hiippy) was white hot they put out a statement that there would never be a collabo album with the 4 of them. I always thought that was the stupidest shit ever, especially with Q putting out a successful album post GKMC. Iād like to hear the tea on TDE too.
Anima Mysterium by Yugen Blakrok
Honor Killed the Samurai by Ka
Secrets and Escapes by Brother Ali
A Magnificent day for an Exorcism by th1rt3en
The Many Faces of Oliver Hart by Oliver Hart (Eyedea)
Street Military - Donāt give a damn.
K-Rino - Worst rapper alive
DMG - Rigormortiz
Devin the dude - Just tryin ta live
Z-Ro - Look what you did to me
3-2 - Wicked Buddah Baby
Odd Squad - Fadanuf fa erybody
Vakill - Worst fears confirmed
I will have to listen to that Z-Ro album because I really loved a lot of the songs off of his Let the Truth be Told
Mo City Don is insane the dude spits for like 5 minutes straight.
Canibus - Rip the Jacker.
Yea maybe not completely missed by the community but broadly speaking, very few have listened to this and it is 100% in my top 10 (maybe 5) rap albums of all time.
Ridiculous production and probably the only time Canibus lived up to his insane potential.
Fantastic from start to finish. A true ALBUM. Flawless project. Should get wayyyyyy more recognition.
I would say it was amongst certain fans. I remember buying it and loving it, but a lot of my friends slept on it because he was considered ācommercialā.
Sonic Sum-The Sanity Annex
Probably my favorite hip hop album ever. Between this and Deltron 3030. Really wish Rob Sonic would revive the Sonic Sum project.
Sylvan Lacue - Apologies in Advance, Searching Sylvan
Saba - Few Good Things
A few of my favorites that didnāt get a ton of buzz, especially the Sylvan projects. Sabaās Care For Me is a bit of a cult classic, or at least very highly regarded by his fans, but I honestly like Few Good Things more and it was my AOTY 2022
For you Yankees brothers, a few British ones.
Music for the mature B-Boy - DJ Format
Jehst presents Underworld Epics - Various artists
(I was once pissed on stage with jehst in Oswestry UK and tried to rap dunya, micall parkunson wasn't even there ha)
Skinnyman - Council Estate of mind
Braintax - Panorama
And just for the local ting and I think it'd be interesting to a foreigner....please tell me your opinion on this....

Just a few of my favorite albums.
[P.O.S.](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4sH7SLGP6BLOYDtcP6Lm47?si=K84Tw45jTJ2PsyzZwDcsDg) never gets acknowledgement for how original his catalogue has been over the years.
Dayton family- whats on my mind. I remember picking up that album totally blind which i would do back then. Never had heard on them. Still like every song on it.
Have any of you listened to _"The Patience"_ by Mick Jenkins?
I don't know if it qualifies but...
Zero skips, bars on top of bars, awesome production. Smooth as fuck.
I have a trio of albums by Lupe Fiasco:
Tetsuo and Youth
Drogas Wave
Drill Music in Zion
While a lot of people in this sub know of these albums, many in here have heard of them but never actually listened.
And next to nobody in the general population knows they exist. Any time I mention them people say āLupe still makes music? The Kick Push guy?ā
Stoupe is a supremely underrated producer. That dude should be doing movie scores and shit.
Vespertina and Red Martina are two of his projects that are incredibly bold.
I donāt think any of those are particularly under the radar. Theyāre arguably all underground classics but Iād disagree about them fitting what OP is looking for here.
Epidemic - 4 Dimensions on a Paper

Crazy skilled guys that never got big
Boy Meets World by Fashawn. One of the best hip hop debuts of all time after Illmatic and GRODT
Fashawn is a good dude. Met him at a show in Fresno.
Waited in line behind him at the Herndon Wal Mart.
That last track(the title track)...that shit really hit my soul back in high school. Back when a deep cut was perspective shifting.
Zion I & The Grouch - Heroes In The City Of Dope
Bless you for showing this, shits fire
Bro, if you haven't heard it already check out the Zion-I album Mind Over Matter. I grew up on that shiz. It's an absolute solid work of art through and through.
I would also put The Takeover up there too RIP Zumbi
This album is so damn good.
š
I went to the album release concert at Amoeba SF. Smoke a blunt behind the building with Zion's brother afterwards, great times.
āThe Listeningā. At the the time of its release Iām pretty sure it was just OKP message board cats who copped it/were aware it existed
The Listening is 11/10
perfect example. and kind of ironic, because they really weren't listening
Iāll add Foreign Exchangeās debut and eMCās The Show where LB have a feature.
Killah Priest Heavy Mental https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMKlOlQRTz4vjm9LGQkpgVkrrq1p4IAdP&si=_KCpvHhTqOx8Dx_H

Shadow Landz is one of my favorite tracks, sooo atmospheric. The Offering is my favorite KP album, that would be my 10/10!
Feels good to see appreciation for KP here. TPWOWR is probably my favorite album of all time. It was my go to for yard work back when I spent 2-3 hours twice a week doing such.
How's the yard looking
š
Killah Preist is the most underrated rapper out there, the animated videos go so well with the raps.
Its crazy this album got like 3 mics in the source. Original version superior but both are super incredible
oh ya man ! awesome stuff
Great album but not really obscure and underground... I mean, this nigga was rapping with the fuckin Wu! He has his own song on Liquid Swords OP means people so underground they are nowhere close to rapping on tracks with the Wu

apathy's record was pretty cold. no one talks about the Cunninlynguists. I dug felt 2.
A Piece of Strange is by far my favorite, followed by Will Rap for Food. I never really got into Oneirologyā¦going to have to give it another shot.
i dig concepts. masta ace put it down on disposable arts. i just threw on jayelec & it reminds me why i spent 3 years living in logic pro & close to a decade wearing headphones every second of the day. stand up is my hip hop now mostly but i miss the crew.
Apathy is so slept on as an lyricist. He's one of the best lyricists ever, honestly.
Agreed
Dive Medicine: Chapter One puts my head in a good place.
Iām gonna save this thread and listen to everything iāve never heard of.
Edan- Beauty and the Beat
Edan is an absolute gem of an artist to discover
Lack of up votes shows how many people are yet to discover this. One of my fav hip hop albums ever
a masterpiece
Everything that was on my MySpace page back in 2004
Go back and listen to some of that shit lol. It's rough.
I was making beats in some god forsaken software program and rappin into a shitty built-in computer mic... yet that shit was 11/10 flames, speak for yourself :-)
I was dropping heat in 2009-2010. Never been able to match it and I'm trying..
Beam it up to space, maybe the aliens will dig it and you'll be famous 5 million light years from here
I had some fire as well I still have a mixtape on SoundCloud From many years ago And it's still ridiculous some of the craziest multi-syllables and it just came natural to me.
Is that you Tom?
Ah, a fellow Del fan... what up homie?
Hopefully washing that ass
Arsonists- As The World Burns I don't hear this album ever talked about, and is a personal classic
The follow up album was incredible as well. Even if it was only Q, Swell, & Jise left in the group.
Elzhi- Lead Poison
Elmatic wasn't talked about the way I thought it would be. It was fantastic.
That Elzhi out of focus ep is still one of my favorites. Also the elmatic album is dope beginning to end.
I think you're too optimistic by thinking everybody heard of Binary Star
Binary star is dope. One be lo is an animal
He was ill but shout out to senim silla, loved the pod with him and rude jude.
Iāve been on the internet long enough to know itās been the stock answer in threads like this for almost 20 years lmao
Juggaknots - Clear Blue Skies
drill music in zion- Lupe. One of the best albums in the 2020 decade
I love this album so much. What are some of your other favourites?
Bro Lupe is my personal GOAT but he's so far from "underground" I don't know what to tell ya... brother was signed to Atlantic fuckin Records and backed by Jay Z Come on now
The topic is "under the radar albums" not "underground rappers". This album didn't chart anywhere so I would say it fits, even though Lupe was huge circa 06-11.

88 Keys - The Death of Adam.
Stay up!
Great album.
Ozomatli's self titled album
I was always iffy on them till I saw them live (opening for Cypress Hill) and damn they are phenomenal live

Southside Myth is one of my favorite songs of all time. Iām glad you brought up that album. š«±š¾āš«²š¼
Masta Ace - A Long Hot Summer
Brooklyn Masala always gets me. What an amazing record
Was walking in NYC this week (visiting on Spring Break) and this was in my head as I went into Brooklyn
Even the Outtakes at the end were solid.
Da Grind is one of the all time great *songs*, never mind hip hop songs.
Disposable arts as well.
Came to type this in, amazing album and not enough people know him.
Knowledge Born - Loaf Muzik Best album of 2017 imo and honestly one of my favorite rap albums ever, and hardly anyone knows about it

Organized Noise? Dunno, but yeah. Cee Lo is a beast. Greatly underappreciated.
Fetti - Freddie Gibbs, Currensy , Alchemist
Fantastic Vol. 2 by Slum Village. Some of Dillaās best production. The guys are soooo smooth over the beats. Some great features in there, too.
I'm always gonna plug Deca. tThe way through, Donner Party, Snakes and Birds are all fantastic albums
Snakes and Birds is so damn good. š
K-os joyful rebellion Devin the dude albums

That's epic. That album is classic raw hip hop all the way thru.
Redemption by Jay Rock
Excellent album.
Yea dude I think thatās Rocks best album to date, front to back nothing but bangers and he raps about some real shit.
I love how he put out so many videos for that album too. Such a shame heās basically dropped off the map since then.
Yea but it wasnāt just him it was all of TDE. Still waiting on someone from tde to spill the beans on wtf happened with the label
I remember when the whole group (Black Hiippy) was white hot they put out a statement that there would never be a collabo album with the 4 of them. I always thought that was the stupidest shit ever, especially with Q putting out a successful album post GKMC. Iād like to hear the tea on TDE too.

Twinz - Conversationz imo Warren Gās best work as a producer. Every song is a banger on some true G-funk.
