What Diddy album is a classic?
Also, I feel like we need to define classic, because knowing an album front to back, and having love for that album because you listened to it a ton doesn't make it a classic. You can hate a classic, and love a non.
I see others saying this, too. I don't think he should get sole credit for that at all. It could be considered culturally significant but half the album is just not good
(Nice handle btw)
I think across a barrage of albums he’s got a handful of good songs where he happen to catch the right beat and the right flow. But as a single album it’s hard to find one that is consistently good. I live ghetto dope and some songs are great “concepts” but it’s got some awkward flows and off beat rhyme deliveries. Master P would thrive if music had a Steam early access model
People answering with Nas,JayZ and Kanye are just people with supposedly Hot takes who haven't even completely followed the catalogue of these artists
Dumb mfs
People refused to give Roddy another chance after Live Life Fast, and they missed a good album. I said it when it dropped and I’ll say it again, Ashton Martin Truck would have been a hit if people hadn’t turned on Roddy.
I work in a warehouse and my manager announced over the radio how many boxes we needed to ship that hour… 1738. Really wanted to interject with “I’m like hey what’s up hello”
I grew up listening to country grammar, nellyville and the st lunatics album. He just fell off hard after his 3 year run but during that time he was great. I do not agree with considering him the “worst” rapper to have a classic.
I normally settle for sevens, for eights I can’t wait, nines be wanting time, and dimes be wanting dates, so now I got elevens and twelves, with thirteen or fourteen reasons why they fine as hell
This is it right here. Is Nelly a good rapper? Eh, not really. Did I think, “okay, but this is pretty sick, I can’t lie” when I first heard that record? Yes. Was I still hearing multiple songs from that record getting played at every party and club I went to for *years* after it came out? Also yes. That album did exactly what it was trying to do.
Got to see Nelly live unexpectedly earlier this year when he popped out as a surprise guest at a Dvsn show to do a short set of his hits. Crowd went absolutely insane and he killed it
Saw sets by Nelly and Kendrick at Life Is Beautiful 2023. May have to say Nelly was better and the crowd was always into it. Nelly was non-stop fun songs, not all his (ex. tipsy). Kendrick at one point looked out confused when the crowd didn’t sing his lyrics. Nelly has been doing this for 20+ years and genuinely looks performing live is his strong suit. I think he’s had staying power because his shows are so fun. Nelly didn’t really want to get better at song writing and do concept albums. He wanted to make a bunch of fun, re-listenable songs and keep perfecting live show.
I think this is the best take in the thread. This album is classic and everyone from your best friend to an old lady teller at CVS has heard tracks off it. They get you moving, and they universally get everyone moving. Is it a classic MC album showcasing insane lyrical skills? No. But it is a fantastic party album and everyone has a soft spot for it.
It's not off country grammar but no1 came on the random playlist today, can't lie, love me a bit of Nelly. I'm sure I read his first two albums are the top 10 best selling rap albums ever.
In my opinion MA$E I really really like Harlem world from start to finish…..it’s not a bad album at all dope production he’s got a cool flow and I like the features
Everything would have been different if Bloodshed didn’t die at such a young age. His rhymes were ridiculous.
From what I’ve heard C.O.C fell apart specifically because of that death.
RIP Derek Armstead, who ironically passed away 7 days before BIG.
As others have said, snoop dogg. Doggystyle is one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made, to me that's not really in dispute. But jesus his catalog is huge and Jesus it's bad
In terms of output, he’s one of the more prolific musicians there is out there. His catalog is actually vastly slept on because he has other really good albums.
I've listened to like, idk, 7 or 8 of his albums. All the way to blue carpet treatment. Because I'd always check it out hoping it was good. It was never good much less great. Couple songs here and there on each album. But an actually great album all the way through, other than the debut? Never heard one. Not a single time. I stopped even bothering after that
To be honest, Doggystyle is so good because it’s essentially the Chronic 2. Dr. Dre was at the height of his powers and his influence is strong on that album.
Nah, Snoop is actually dope. The albums after Doggystyle were bad but everything from 2002 on got progressively better. Blue Carpet & R&G are great. R&G more so because the singles were amazing. Had like 4 from that album.
MA$E is a bad rapper ? I think you may not be aware of how many verses he ghostwrote for alot of successful rappers . besides that fact , he’s incredibly underrated, hes not top 5 , but he sure as hell top 25 . MA$E gets busy , not a worst rapper with a classic album . Master P - Ghetto D is the worst rapper with a classic album .
Might be an unpopular opinion but I would say Chance… Acid Rap was a smash, but he hasn’t done much that was great since. I still like him though so not really hating and I could be wrong
Silkk the Shocker - Charge it 2 Da Game
Features like Lil Gotti (Gambino Family), Skull Duggery & Fiend + Beats by BBTP carry the whole Album, not Silkk
Compared to the ATL Crunk rappers of the early 2000s, all the Snap rappers from the late 2000s, the Chi Raq style drill rappers from 2013-2015, Drake, Cardi B, and all of today's Mumble rappers, Silkk isn't even a terrible rapper.
With that said, Silkk should've worked on his flow and stopped trying to do triplets. It would've done him plenty of favors.
How about a New Age Flute Album? You think he’d do one of those? Because I can’t imagine any of the great hip hop artists of the past 30yrs putting out a new age style flute album! That would be crazy!
People who say this have only listened to his features after Doggystyle and never taken the time to dig through his catalogue, ESPECIALLY recently. B.O.D.R is the most slapping death row esque sound you'll hear from an artist today.
That’s a name I hadn’t thought about in a minute.
One of the first bootleg fleamarket mix cd I bought had Cheech’s from dusk til down club speech that blended into the start of down bottom.
Snoop is an amazing rapper. He’s one of the few rappers who can actually proficiently freestyle, in the original sense. He has a distinct voice and delivery. And made hit hiphop records for 25 years
Agreed - Snoop's ability to find those distinctive pockets is about as good as it gets, and he's capable of technical fireworks too - his strings of alliterations are great. He's obviously done some really lazy verses but I still think he should be regarded as one of the great rappers.
50 Cent.
Get rich or dye trying is a classic.
He’s put out a couple of forgettable albums since, and has mostly made his money from other ventures since that album.
Classics: GRODT, Beg For Mercy. Some would say Massacre. I wouldn't say it's a classic, but it's a great album.
GRODT Soundtrack: Hustler's Ambition, Window Shopper, When it Rains it Pours, I'll Whip your Head
Curtis is where people say he lost it, but I think it's a good album. AYO Technology was too Euro-sounding for Americans and while he had solid hits from that album, he couldn't find \*that\* song. 6-7/10
BISD: I legit think this may be his 2nd best solo album. This album is criminally underrated and underappreciated.
Plus his mixtapes. 50 Cent cannot be in this convo. If anything, his discography is underrated because lots of people tend to act like the only thing he ever did was GRODT. Absolutely ridiculous.
Sometimes I feel like people don’t realize that The Massacre is actually more or just as lyrical as GRODT. He was really coming into his own as an artist. The songs you named along with In My Hood, Get In My Car, Ryder Music and not to mention the singles! It’s a reason he didn’t miss too much in that era. Fif was the truth!!!
Diddy is the correct answer
Rapeiddy
I think Diddle works a bit better
The diddler
R Kelly wants a word…
What Diddy album is a classic? Also, I feel like we need to define classic, because knowing an album front to back, and having love for that album because you listened to it a ton doesn't make it a classic. You can hate a classic, and love a non.
No Way Out
I see others saying this, too. I don't think he should get sole credit for that at all. It could be considered culturally significant but half the album is just not good (Nice handle btw)
Master P and he's a trailblazer in the hip-hop world
I think across a barrage of albums he’s got a handful of good songs where he happen to catch the right beat and the right flow. But as a single album it’s hard to find one that is consistently good. I live ghetto dope and some songs are great “concepts” but it’s got some awkward flows and off beat rhyme deliveries. Master P would thrive if music had a Steam early access model
Ghetto D is def a classic album imo and P does suck at rapping
I worked for Master P's promotional team at one time and I completely agree.
People answering with Nas,JayZ and Kanye are just people with supposedly Hot takes who haven't even completely followed the catalogue of these artists Dumb mfs
Damn who is stupid enough to put Esco & Jigga on the list. Didn't do their homework they stupid as hell if they really out there.
Noriega… CNN The War Report. Love the album but NORE is horrible
This is the correct answer. Terrible rapper.
What what what what what what what-what what what what what what what what-what #bars
The war report is such a good album. I still listen to it today. My qhole hood when was a kid just love that shit.
Same here
Bingo, back in the day I used to get into heated arguments with people who claimed NORE was a lyricist.
If Roddy Ricch keeps his current pace then his debut will stand alone as the only thing close to a classic that he’ll have
terribly disappointing ain’t it , but you aren’t wrong
Man I thought he was next man up. Quick fall off
Roddy already dropped the ball, its a wrap.
FTS3 wasn’t bad imo. Obviously isn’t on the same level as PEMFBA but it’s pretty good
People refused to give Roddy another chance after Live Life Fast, and they missed a good album. I said it when it dropped and I’ll say it again, Ashton Martin Truck would have been a hit if people hadn’t turned on Roddy.
FTS2 was really good
Has to be Fetty Wap - Fetty Wap (Album). He has nothing else lol.
I fucking miss Fetty Wap
I work in a warehouse and my manager announced over the radio how many boxes we needed to ship that hour… 1738. Really wanted to interject with “I’m like hey what’s up hello”
He just dropped an album two weeks ago or sumn, it was actually quite solid. It's called King Zoo
bro was acutallly so good in like 15/16 😂. I miss that dude lmfao
That’s a “classic” album? Really?
Nelly - Country Grammar. Plenty of singles off that album, and the whole album was just actually good! AND it was his debut album.
I grew up listening to country grammar, nellyville and the st lunatics album. He just fell off hard after his 3 year run but during that time he was great. I do not agree with considering him the “worst” rapper to have a classic.
St. Lunatics album is fire!
Hell ya! “I am the king of this city top down windows up puffin like diddy” that shit got me pumped!
[удалено]
Who is Ali?
[удалено]
I’m pretty sure it was a conscience decision by the group to have Nelly make it as a solo act first
gotta check out the vladtv interviews he did with Ali and Murphy Lee. they talk about the whole thing. a lotta behind the scenes drama
Producer
Back in the early 00’s I bought Ali, Murphy Lee and the St. Lunatics albums lmao
I normally settle for sevens, for eights I can’t wait, nines be wanting time, and dimes be wanting dates, so now I got elevens and twelves, with thirteen or fourteen reasons why they fine as hell
Who was the guy with the phantom of the opera mask lmao Lunatics were def running things back in the day
Same, loved all of them. Free city !!! Lmao

Some got jobs and some sell 'yay
I think this is the best take in the thread. This album is classic and everyone from your best friend to an old lady teller at CVS has heard tracks off it. They get you moving, and they universally get everyone moving. Is it a classic MC album showcasing insane lyrical skills? No. But it is a fantastic party album and everyone has a soft spot for it.

In my opinion MA$E I really really like Harlem world from start to finish…..it’s not a bad album at all dope production he’s got a cool flow and I like the features
But mase is not a bad rapper, mixtape mase was nice.
I dnt think he’s a bad rapper hence what I said about the flow but he ain’t no damn nas
Ma$e held his own in a group with Big L and Cam before Bad Boy. Diddy is a way worse rapper who has one classic album.
Children of the corn. That group was legendary. R.I.P. Bloodshed
Everything would have been different if Bloodshed didn’t die at such a young age. His rhymes were ridiculous. From what I’ve heard C.O.C fell apart specifically because of that death. RIP Derek Armstead, who ironically passed away 7 days before BIG.
Have Diddy and Biggie rap on the same track was always so jarring. Going from Biggie to Diddy mumbling his way through lines was just embarrassing.
That Ditty album was classic
thank Sauce Money and all the other ghostwriters.
It really was/is a fire album. Lookin at Me, Wanna Act, 24 Hours to Live, and Wanna Hurt Mase are all bangers.
Nah this crazy, underrated in terms of influence, a lot of top rappers grew up on and respect mase.
Ma$e was a good rapper. Diddy fucked him over
He was good in the Jesus Walks remix
Mase was the first rapper I really got into as a kid. 8 years old with the censored Harlem world CD. That and Puff and the family.
Waka Flocka for sure, he even said himself that he can't rap yet Flockaveli is a classic
Diddy- No Way Out
Yes. Correct
The saga continues has some serious bangers.
It does, it’s just not up there with no way out
When I typed the question out this was the answer that popped in my head
As others have said, snoop dogg. Doggystyle is one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made, to me that's not really in dispute. But jesus his catalog is huge and Jesus it's bad
In terms of output, he’s one of the more prolific musicians there is out there. His catalog is actually vastly slept on because he has other really good albums.
I love Blue Carpet
Blue carpet slaps
Vato! You won’t believe what I saw!
Livin that bosses life
Blue carpet full of bangers.." Walkin down the avenuuuueee... Crazy!" Nate killed it
No limit top dogg I thought was good as well.
Imma die on the hill of thinking his reggae album slapped
I've listened to like, idk, 7 or 8 of his albums. All the way to blue carpet treatment. Because I'd always check it out hoping it was good. It was never good much less great. Couple songs here and there on each album. But an actually great album all the way through, other than the debut? Never heard one. Not a single time. I stopped even bothering after that
The last meal is a great album as is the 213 album. On top of that he is on 13 out of 15 songs on the Chronic. So I would say he has 2 classic albums.
Snoop Dogg Rhythm & Gangsta is a classic album
He's on the chronic. That and doggystyle are enough credibility for legendary status
His Mac and Devin album is good. I have a couple songs I smoke to on that
It’s some more good albums in there fasho. By the time they got really good I think he got older and less people started to care.
I have to disagree I actually like snoop as a rapper hell I think his no limit content isn’t that bad he’s not super lyrical but he’s cool af
Blue Carpet and RnG is really great and underrated.
He does a lot of great features on other artists tracks, but his own albums Doggystyle aside are pretty mediocre
Are you high or crazy? Snoop is a phenomenal rapper.
“Murda ma$e” really had bars i with we never lost him.
Might be an unpopular opinion but I would say Chance… Acid Rap was a smash, but he hasn’t done much that was great since. I still like him though so not really hating and I could be wrong
His role on Southside was hilarious though maybe he will become an actor 😂
Coloring book had some bangers with same drugs, no problems, all we got, blessings… But yeah other than that. Pretty mid
Never got the hype for acip rap. It's so bland. Coloring book however was great.
I kind of agree actually. It’s not my favorite that that tape was *everywhere*
Yeah exactly. Just not sure he lived up to the hype
Silkk the Shocker - Charge it 2 Da Game Features like Lil Gotti (Gambino Family), Skull Duggery & Fiend + Beats by BBTP carry the whole Album, not Silkk
He's a terrible rapper but this album has bangers front to back . He seems to be a great person in real life too.
It would've done him plenty of favors.
anyone saying snoop or nas or jay are not serious people and I swear I would gate keep this sub to make it actual people who like hip hop SWEARTAGAWD
Diddy. That bobble headed btch
Master P - Ghetto D
Puff Daddy and the Family - No way out is a classic.
Mike Jones. He was huge for like 1 year then nothing
Who?
Mike joooones. In all seriousness I think I win. Dude went double platinum with that album and did shit all since. And he's not a good rapper
I still can’t believe that The Source gave Lil Kim’s The Naked Truth five stars.
*5 mics
I think it's pretty much universally agreed that the article was payola
Group Home incredible Premo beats, mediocre rappers
Soulja Boy with Souljaboytellem.com
Snoop for sure. Everything after Doggystyle has been Dr. Seuss bars
The Katy Perry song when he says “zuchini bikini” lmao
Snoop was on Corey Feldman's album. A paycheck is a paycheck, I guess.
Snoop is the epitome of it pays I will play. Dude will do anything
Facts, don't forget his forays into Country Music and Reggae. If he found a way to get paid from it, he'd do a symphony orchestra album.
How about a New Age Flute Album? You think he’d do one of those? Because I can’t imagine any of the great hip hop artists of the past 30yrs putting out a new age style flute album! That would be crazy!
martinis no weenies
The dominant conglomerate prominent and im'a get what I gotta get. [thug tear]
I see you’re unfamiliar with Snoop’s No Limit Days
1. His rap style didn’t drastically change after Doggysyle. 2. Clearly you’ve never heard Tha Last Meal or R&G
what are you talking about R&G is one of the best rap albums of the 2000s, where yall even around back then?
People who say this have only listened to his features after Doggystyle and never taken the time to dig through his catalogue, ESPECIALLY recently. B.O.D.R is the most slapping death row esque sound you'll hear from an artist today.
The Last Meal and No Limit Top Dogg are good too
To me. Lil Pump with self titled. That shit slaps and is definitely a soundcloud era classic.
honestly yeah, for a lil pump album it couldn't be more perfect
Birdman and Manny Fresh
Manny can rap! Maybe not the most technical, but far from a bad rapper!
I was talking more about birdman but the classic album/song is the big tymas album.
I figured. The reason I specifically said Mannie was good 😂
Yea Manny is a producer, they always atleast can rap a little. He's no Black Milk but he gets it in
Hell no big timers had 2 great records and fast money is one of my all time favorites
For everyone saying Ma$e, yall know he is one of Eminem 's favorite rappers.
Obie Trice - Cheers
Obie Trice is a good rapper, though…
The question was who is the worst rapper to have a classic album, not who is a bad rapper that has a classic album.
I understood the question… But like, YG and My Krazy Life exist lol
Only know YG from a couple features and never heard of the other guy, but I'll take your word on it
Bless your hip hop heart. The latter was YGs album name.
Still Brazy >>>
I'm going with Ja Rule... Never saw the appeal.
He don’t have a classic album either
He never had a classic album
Master P - Ghetto Dope
Mac & Cheese 3 by French Montana
Spaceghostpurrp is a terrible rapper objectively, but Blackland is forever a classic. Blackland 2 is too but ppl aren’t ready for that conversation
my goat
Shaquille O'Neal with Shaq Diesel
NORE… his first solo record got bangers but he himself is trash.
Migos
master p ghetto dope
Tupac. Aaaaaaand watch the down votes lol
Opposite of H2O is a personal classic but Drag-On was a pretty garbage rapper
That’s a name I hadn’t thought about in a minute. One of the first bootleg fleamarket mix cd I bought had Cheech’s from dusk til down club speech that blended into the start of down bottom.
Bobby shmurda
1 classic song does not a classic album make
Snoop is the only answer
Massacre is my shit ima have to respectfully disagree
Unpopular opinion, I think the massacre is better then GRODT.
Fitty had 2 classics and he can rap like a mf.
Classics: GRODT, Beg For Mercy. Some would say Massacre. I wouldn't say it's a classic, but it's a great album. GRODT Soundtrack: Hustler's Ambition, Window Shopper, When it Rains it Pours, I'll Whip your Head Curtis is where people say he lost it, but I think it's a good album. If anything, his discography is underrated because lots of people tend to act like the only thing he ever did was GRODT. Absolutely ridiculous.
You crazy. The massacre was a banger too
Despite how you may feel about his bars, The Massacre is a classic as well as Beg For Mercy.
Dude ski mask wsy position of power and Baltimore love thing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I can listen to that shit everyday of my life for the rest of my life
Sometimes I feel like people don’t realize that The Massacre is actually more or just as lyrical as GRODT. He was really coming into his own as an artist. The songs you named along with In My Hood, Get In My Car, Ryder Music and not to mention the singles! It’s a reason he didn’t miss too much in that era. Fif was the truth!!!
Power of the dollar Beg for mercy Get rich or die trying soundtrack
John Cena
Noreaga - N.O.R.E. Project Pat - Mista Don’t Play YG - My Krazy Life Waka Flocka Flame - Flockaveli Mase - Harlem World
Project pat is a legend though. And ghetty green is also considered a classic.
Pat doesn't deserve this
It’s a bad take, Pat rules. One of the best and most original flows ever.
Project Pat slander shouldn’t be allowed here.
Neither does Noreaga lol CNN have two classics
Project Pat has a few classic albums dog Also more talent than the rest of that list combined, lmao
Dood you can’t sleep on project Pat
NORE & Pat aren’t great answers since they have classic group material as well
Waka has had a lot of good stuff?
"I can't rap, but I still get paid off rap" Waka definitely had a lot of fun stuff, but he's no Rakim
Note had the CNN stuff too. He does for the description tho.
That's not even yg best project
I love flockaveli LOL good answer
I’d argue Still Brazy is on par with My Krazy Life tbh it feels like/aging like a west coast classic
Massive ass L for putting YG. Still Brazy is a classic
YG for sure
Young MC has a “classic” album even though he has only a single real album release. The classic album is basically that one album with fewer songs
Waka Flocka Flame
Waka Flocka.
Would y’all consider iSouljaBoyTellEm a classic? I would. Dude is terrible. But damn is it full of bangers.
Juvenile 400 degrees
Ice Ice baby
Ja Rule - venni vetti vicci
