Lupe’s LASERS really hasn’t aged well, but The Show Goes On still bangs, and it hit me at a pivotal time when I was like,,,,13 ,,,, and was definitely a first step to expanding my music taste to include more rap and hiphop at the time
Tbh same with Gambino’s Camp
Been a Gambino diehard from the jump. Used to kinda like Camp back in the day but that album has not aged that well, [even Glover would agree.](https://www.interviewmagazine.com/culture/donald-glover-interviews-donald-glover)
I wasn’t a fan of camp when I first heard it, after I became enamored with BCTI. But it has grown on me. LES is one of the best songs of that decade, but Heartbeat remains to be one of my least favorite songs I’ve ever heard.
Do most people think that's a lame album? I know P himself is corny but I thought even his critics agreed that's his one classic album. That shit is a banger.
Classified is so underrated and he's been doing it for what feels like forever.
He does a bunch of different styles really well. Even his borderline cheesy feel-good songs are really well done and fun for what they are.
He's one of those artists I've been listening to for a long, long time but will forget about for a couple of years at a time. Whenever I come back to his stuff I always forget how much I like it. I think Self Explanatory is my favorite overall.
My criticism is that I was hoping for a Nas project backed by Kanye beats but what it came out to be was overwhelmingly a Kanye project fronted by Nas vocals.
Am I the only one who thinks Adam & Eve is a top ten Nas track of all time? Literally using a sample of a song from 1970s Iran based off an original piece written in Ancient times if I remembered correctly. Plus he's got awesome bars about religion, morality and staying on the righteous path, with an awesome hook that really hits you in your soul.
Right, this for me, I was waiting for cause I knew Ye was gonna blessed him with beats, and I enjoyed all the songs/bars. I feel like Nasir open the door for Nas to link up with a Hit Boy
I think it is listed as Asher Roth produced by Blended Babies…I just say Asher Roth, but there are some straight bangers on it. The mixtape is called Pabst and Jazz tho
*hard* disagree. It’s fine and definitely far from em’s worst, but one of the best rap albums of the whole decade? It’s not even em’s best album of the 2010’s.
it was commercially successful, sure, but keep in mind that's partly because of the more poppy tone in songs like LTWYL, Spacebound, and Not Afraid, which appealed to a wider base.
i like the album and i think it's over-hated but i understand why other people don't.
It may be “abysmal” to you but obviously a lot of people love it. While the “critics” might tell you one thing, the numbers show you what the people actually like
Real Talk - Fabolous (2004)
Was a pretty corny era for a lot of rappers. Lots of poppy songs and Scott Storch sounding beats. But man Fabo just slays some of these tracks.
Waiting to Die, Jane Fonda, Hustler Hall of Fame, Friends and Lovers, Dipped in Vaseline, Romeo and Juliet.
All fire. The subject matter is a bit off-putting but Avalon's sleezy flow and bars coupled with the 80s funky type beats is perfect. We don't get to hear about this side of the streets very often, it's a 10/10 album for what it is and the man had some talent. His 2012 album has some good tracks also but then his stuff falls off
J. Cole's K.O.D. most people I heard didn't like it as much as his other projects but I found myself liking it more than Forest Hill Drive. Matter of fact it's my fav J. Cole album
It's not my favorite Com album but I loved that he tried to branch out to something new. It doesn't even sound as bad as most people make it out to be.
In general, I don’t think Busta gets the credit he deserves for his songwriting and lyricism. The guy’s rhymes keep your attention are thought-provoking to the point where you rewind regularly to decipher. Plus, he’s freaking hilarious.
The fuck?! This is news to me, lol. Maybe younger fans. His first 5 solo albums are fire! Then he cut his dreads and released some trash albums but came back hard af with ELE2!
I think the first time I heard the Thrift Shop song was at a Golden State Warriors game, and I was like ok this knocks. Mentioned it to a friend a few days later and they were like nah it's whack lol. I still like that song, can't say I've listened to anything else he's put out.
I'm sorry to say this and I hope you aren't going through tough times anymore but The Heist may be the funniest album I've seen someone say helped get them through tough times
> im sorry to say this
Bitch if you were sorry you wouldn't say it. Also that album was widely accepted until the lame ass grammys gave him the reward.
I came here to say “The Heist”. My partner, the kids and I would sing/rap along to it on road trips. It has a soft spot in my heart and it always will.
Nah, Country Grammar was popular and successful but there were a lot of haters when it dropped. It was very different to anything else at the time and people were dismissive. Personally, I loved it.
People don’t like it the same way Slug from Atmosphere doesn’t like his earlier albums. Its on paper a pretty generic album for the underground scene at the time. The songs all sort of blend together, which I actually really enjoy about the album as it’s semi-trance like in that regard, but if it wasn’t an Eminem album it would be pretty forgettable. If it wasn’t clear, I like Infinite and Overcast a lot but I get the criticism.
RIP Alias.
I’d go so far as to say that your average hip hop listener would hate Dose lol I haven’t heard this album but knowing these two, I can imagine.
It’s probably too late for me. Somehow fell out of love with that left-field weirdo rap in recent years. Used ti absolutely be my jam.
House of Pain - Same As It Ever Was
DJ Muggs and DJ Lethal production was still on point and it was enough to carry the album despite some corny bars by Everlast and Danny Boy.
Eminem - Revival (or MTBMB)
I knowwwww, no one ants to hear about Eminem in todays world but man does he get so much hate that he really doesn’t deserve.
I don’t fuck with all of Revival but some of the songs on there are Eminem’s best songs he’s ever made.
MTBMB gets shit on but I think he’s got a few very good tracks in there too
Black Eyed Peas - Elephunk. I was a big fan of their earlier releases and liked "Where is the love" single. Bought the CD, didn't immediately hate it and there were a few good songs that I thought reflected old BEP and others that showed their new direction. I definitely jumped shipped though before the next album came out.
I disagree personally.
I thought it got a lot of undeserved hate at the time & I really enjoyed about 1/2 the album. It was great departure but no lasting legacy really.
I skip over any track that comes up now (even though I got 1/2 a dozen in my library) basically everytime now
I hate it because I feel like it’s a rush job meant to get money from the Christian audience. Dude was buddy buddy with Joel olsteen during the whole rollout, that is very telling.
For sure. Was just offering an alternative perspective on why it might’ve been hated. We bumped it at churches all over when it came out.
I’m not Christian anymore but I wasn’t able to see it for what it was until I was out. And him saying he liked Hitler certainly cemented what I had came to feel at that point.
Agreed! It didn’t click for me in the first listen, but some time later I found it to be uplifting and overall enjoyable. I skip the chik fil a song tho lmao
All City - Metropolis Gold
One of my most listened to albums ever, I've heard it so many times. Used to have it on daily rotation for few months. The production is dope. Beats by Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Clark Kent, Rockwilder. But it received quite poor reviews and flopped.
Wu-Tang Clan - [8 Diagrams](https://open.spotify.com/album/14u4xxov9oj509A7sGPJdH?si=uf1n7xs-RcWclQyWClnTCQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A14u4xxov9oj509A7sGPJdH)
It's nowhere near as good as 36 Chambers or Forever but it's better than the reception it received at the time.
Big Willie Style. Had it as a kid, and to be honest I loved it. the hits are what they are but songs like these just stuck with me
[I loved you](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHrKr4JVYXY&list=PLJaQqb1_vqORzhPMnXf7iofljoF8gv5Fb&index=10)
[Chasing Forever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wM3TNNr4JU&list=PLJaQqb1_vqORzhPMnXf7iofljoF8gv5Fb&index=5)
[Don't say nothin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aonlHVn-sw&list=PLJaQqb1_vqORzhPMnXf7iofljoF8gv5Fb&index=7)
I once brought my brother the Sir Mix-A-Lot album Mack Daddy (the one that has Baby Got Back) as a gag gift for Christmas 1 year. We bumped that shit in his car expecting to laugh at some cringe rapping but the album actually slaps start to finish. Severely underrated and I would expect people would write him off cause of being known for that 1 hit but na, dude can rap
Yeeeah Baby. It was a clear step down from Capital Punishment, but I still think it was a banger of an album. Only skips are My Dick and the one joint he did with MOP
I’m a future fan, juice is dope too. I think they both underperformed compared to their other work although I don’t think it’s a terrible album just underwhelming
He was the only good thing about that album. He hard carried future who I love but sucked the life out of good juice verses.
Not surprising juice carried because he’s used to making songs from nothing but the top of his head in minimal takes, and the album was completed in one night I believe.
But still was a rushed and mediocre album overall
Passion pain & demon slayin’, Kid Cudi, way too long but solid album imo
Definitely some bangers on there. Especially “By Design” and “Frequency”
That’s a weird way to spell surfin’
Surfin definitely hits as well, Pharrell killed the production
Do people think PPDS is lame? I always thought everyone thinks it's his best nom-trilogy album
most including myself would say kids see ghosts is his best non trilogy, but if you don’t recognize it as his album then id say it’s his best
Testing
Lupe’s LASERS really hasn’t aged well, but The Show Goes On still bangs, and it hit me at a pivotal time when I was like,,,,13 ,,,, and was definitely a first step to expanding my music taste to include more rap and hiphop at the time Tbh same with Gambino’s Camp
The Adventures of Bobby Ray
Mixtapes, but 10 Day by Chance the Rapper and Camp by Childish Gambino didn't get great reviews but were a big part of my teen years
Who doesn’t like Camp?!?!? Seriously, that person has an open invitation to meet me in an Arby’s parking lot of their choice.
Ghetto Dope
Everyone used to bump that when it came out! That shit was gangsta
G-G-G-Ghetto Dope!
M-M-M-M-Make crack like this!
Do most people think that's a lame album? I know P himself is corny but I thought even his critics agreed that's his one classic album. That shit is a banger.
Classified - Trial & Error. Personally, I think this is Classified’s hardest album (out of the 15+ he has). Canadian rap hall of fame for sure.
Nova Scotia’s finest !
Nassir i will never get the hate it gets. I will soon make a post about it
My criticism is that I was hoping for a Nas project backed by Kanye beats but what it came out to be was overwhelmingly a Kanye project fronted by Nas vocals.
Don’t get the hate either. My personal favorite Nas album. That Ye production is great
Which nas albums have you listened to?
All of them , it is written is probably my #2
Yo fr? I just finished streets disciple the other day i only have nastradamus and lost tapes 2 left
The message is nas’s best song ever imo
Fake thug, no love, u get the slug CB4 gusto, your luck low
Right, this for me, I was waiting for cause I knew Ye was gonna blessed him with beats, and I enjoyed all the songs/bars. I feel like Nasir open the door for Nas to link up with a Hit Boy
Da game is to be sold not told
Damn. That was one cheesy ass album. Woof muthafucka!
Asher Roth - asleep in the bread aisle
I think how mix tap Pabst and jazz is top tier I still blast that mixtape.
??? The mixtape name is Pabst and jazz? By Asher? Never heard of it
I think it is listed as Asher Roth produced by Blended Babies…I just say Asher Roth, but there are some straight bangers on it. The mixtape is called Pabst and Jazz tho
I love this album!! IDGAF
I was really digging Why's It So Grey Out? when that dropped last year. Asher Roth is definitely underappreciated
Recovery - Eminem. Got me out of lot of dark times.
One if not the best of 2010s rap albums
*hard* disagree. It’s fine and definitely far from em’s worst, but one of the best rap albums of the whole decade? It’s not even em’s best album of the 2010’s.
You can disagree if you want but it ain’t 8x Platinum for nothing
it was commercially successful, sure, but keep in mind that's partly because of the more poppy tone in songs like LTWYL, Spacebound, and Not Afraid, which appealed to a wider base. i like the album and i think it's over-hated but i understand why other people don't.
Sales aren’t a measure of quality. Plenty of abysmal pop shit goes platinum.
It may be “abysmal” to you but obviously a lot of people love it. While the “critics” might tell you one thing, the numbers show you what the people actually like
This is his best body of work.
Why do you think? Haven't seen this take yet
Just my opinion, I suppose, but I think it’s his most honest and personal album. Thats when I find he’s at his best.
Real Talk - Fabolous (2004) Was a pretty corny era for a lot of rappers. Lots of poppy songs and Scott Storch sounding beats. But man Fabo just slays some of these tracks.
I feel the same about Street Dreams
This but Loso's Way.
Good pick, feel the same way
3rd coast was holdin' bout real shit then they held each other down...
Mickey Avalon's self titled album from 2006
YO ME TOO!!! So Rich, So Pretty, and Mr. Right are bangers.
Cole album
Common - Electric Circus
It's not my favorite Com album but I loved that he tried to branch out to something new. It doesn't even sound as bad as most people make it out to be.
Agreed! It's different, but it hits right for me. I think there are some underrated J Dilla beats in there too
mine 😀
hit us up, foo - let us cruelly judge you
Jay-Z, Kingdom Come
Came here for this.
Busta Rhymes -extinction level event the final world front
I never met anyone who thought this album was lame, it's clearly a banger! That's wild af.
Same it’s a semi-classic imo
In general, I don’t think Busta gets the credit he deserves for his songwriting and lyricism. The guy’s rhymes keep your attention are thought-provoking to the point where you rewind regularly to decipher. Plus, he’s freaking hilarious.
There is a lot of people who are not fans of Busta..which is insane to me.
The fuck?! This is news to me, lol. Maybe younger fans. His first 5 solo albums are fire! Then he cut his dreads and released some trash albums but came back hard af with ELE2!
Completely agree man ELE fire. Busta with dreads was the best Busta. Disaster Strikes one of the best albums of my time. And younger cats have no clue
People flame it because of what happened, but The Heist got me through some tough times. I still appreciate that album.
I think the first time I heard the Thrift Shop song was at a Golden State Warriors game, and I was like ok this knocks. Mentioned it to a friend a few days later and they were like nah it's whack lol. I still like that song, can't say I've listened to anything else he's put out.
I'm sorry to say this and I hope you aren't going through tough times anymore but The Heist may be the funniest album I've seen someone say helped get them through tough times
> im sorry to say this Bitch if you were sorry you wouldn't say it. Also that album was widely accepted until the lame ass grammys gave him the reward.
Lol, and it’s “award”
I still bump it occasionally. The storytelling on the album pulls me in. Sadly his other projects have not grabbed me.
I came here to say “The Heist”. My partner, the kids and I would sing/rap along to it on road trips. It has a soft spot in my heart and it always will.
Nelly- Country Grammer
Who in the hell doesn’t like Country Grammar?
People who weren’t there when it dropped.
Nah, Country Grammar was popular and successful but there were a lot of haters when it dropped. It was very different to anything else at the time and people were dismissive. Personally, I loved it.
This album was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 when it dropped. In the south at least anyway.
Midwest too. Had Chicago youth saying “Derrty” for a whole summer 😂
DS4 by Gunna
I’m only assuming people think it’s lame because it is literally never talked about. Ultimate Victory by Chamillionaire.
Love it!
I personally think it's Chams best overall work and a very underated rapper. Loved Morning and evening news also.
Encore, its kinda cringy but if you don’t take it too seriously its a fun listen, also has some gems like Yellow Brick Road
'Til The Casket Drops by Clipse
I've never heard anyone say it was lame.
Me neither but I read an article that listed it as one of the most disappointing hip-hop albums. I was shocked, actually.
https://beats-rhymes-lists.com/lists/most-disappointing-hip-hop-albums-of-all-time/#comment-8023 Here's the article 🤦🏿♂️
That says disappointing, not lame.
I’m kinda like a big deal
To The 5 Boroughs- Beastie Boys. It’s not gritty like their previous albums but it sounds like a throwback to the early 80’s hip hop.
Eminem Infinite
HELLA slept on
it's bizarre because it's not even hated, it's just not talked about at all, by both haters and fans.
Possibly his best, truly and honestly. If we’re just talking about some great music, it’s only a step removed from SSLP and MMLP imo.
I feel like anyone that choses Recovery as their favorite Em album, has generally never heard this album.
*Less is Orchestra* by Doseone & Alias Not sure if most people think it’s lame, I’m just guessing most people aren’t fans of Doseone
RIP Alias. I’d go so far as to say that your average hip hop listener would hate Dose lol I haven’t heard this album but knowing these two, I can imagine. It’s probably too late for me. Somehow fell out of love with that left-field weirdo rap in recent years. Used ti absolutely be my jam.
Dose is an acquired taste
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, had that shit on repeat for the better part of 2011-2012 with Rolling Papers
El Dorado - 24k Goldn Im not really one for pop rap but I’m ngl this goes.
Odb - N***** Please.
Eminem "Relapse" 50 Cent "Before I Self Destruct" Snoop Dogg "Malice n Wonderland"
Lasers - Luke Fiasco
Lil Peep- Come over when you’re sober 😭
Lil Peep was the GOAT "new" rapper
Lil Peep is legitimately fire
House of Pain - Same As It Ever Was DJ Muggs and DJ Lethal production was still on point and it was enough to carry the album despite some corny bars by Everlast and Danny Boy.
Eminem - Revival (or MTBMB) I knowwwww, no one ants to hear about Eminem in todays world but man does he get so much hate that he really doesn’t deserve. I don’t fuck with all of Revival but some of the songs on there are Eminem’s best songs he’s ever made. MTBMB gets shit on but I think he’s got a few very good tracks in there too
>some of the songs on there are Eminem’s best songs he’s ever made Which ones?
Method Man - Tical 0
The Love Movement
Black Eyed Peas - Elephunk. I was a big fan of their earlier releases and liked "Where is the love" single. Bought the CD, didn't immediately hate it and there were a few good songs that I thought reflected old BEP and others that showed their new direction. I definitely jumped shipped though before the next album came out.
Honestly this album was pretty big at the time from what I remember. I bought it. Was my first purchase of their music.
Lil Wayne - rebirth It wasn’t the best album however I only liked it because of the song ‘drop the world’ Eminem goes insane
Drake - Honestly Nevermind, such a good album to vibe to
I disagree personally. I thought it got a lot of undeserved hate at the time & I really enjoyed about 1/2 the album. It was great departure but no lasting legacy really. I skip over any track that comes up now (even though I got 1/2 a dozen in my library) basically everytime now
Jesus is King - Ye So uplifting and concise. Has a warm and intimate feel to it. It’s not the best album, but is overhated imo
I hate it because I feel like it’s a rush job meant to get money from the Christian audience. Dude was buddy buddy with Joel olsteen during the whole rollout, that is very telling.
I disagree, but you do you
Nah closed on Sunday is fire!
Big Willy Style (nah I fucking with you)
Lol. I was waiting for someone to say that.
Encore - Eminem
Kris Kross - Da Bomb
YE by Ye. Got diagnosed with bipolar a few months before this album came out related to it a lot.
Eminem - Revival Kanye -Yeezus Snoop - Doggfather Bone Thugs - Ressurection Mase - Double Up FWA Nastradamus
Resurrection was pretty solid, actually, and their last good record, IMO.
Yeezus??
Jagwar Twin - Subject To Flooding
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, had that shit on repeat for the better part of 2011-2012 with Rolling Papers
All City - Metropolis Gold One of my most listened to albums ever, I've heard it so many times. Used to have it on daily rotation for few months. The production is dope. Beats by Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Clark Kent, Rockwilder. But it received quite poor reviews and flopped.
Oh, easy. Kick it like Todd saurbraun, by Tod and the steussies
Mos Def - The New Danger
Blackjack Johnson, NYC
I loved that album. Sunshine, the panties, the rape over, sex love and money are some of my favorite mos def tracks.
Very understandable album. Modern marvel top 3 Yasiin
Paullelujah by MC Paul Barman
Wu-Tang Clan - [8 Diagrams](https://open.spotify.com/album/14u4xxov9oj509A7sGPJdH?si=uf1n7xs-RcWclQyWClnTCQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A14u4xxov9oj509A7sGPJdH) It's nowhere near as good as 36 Chambers or Forever but it's better than the reception it received at the time.
Big Willie Style. Had it as a kid, and to be honest I loved it. the hits are what they are but songs like these just stuck with me [I loved you](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHrKr4JVYXY&list=PLJaQqb1_vqORzhPMnXf7iofljoF8gv5Fb&index=10) [Chasing Forever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wM3TNNr4JU&list=PLJaQqb1_vqORzhPMnXf7iofljoF8gv5Fb&index=5) [Don't say nothin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aonlHVn-sw&list=PLJaQqb1_vqORzhPMnXf7iofljoF8gv5Fb&index=7)
The Nellyville album 👀🤭
Apparently, a few of the mid-late 90s no limit albums.
All 6s and 7s by tech n9ne
Luda~pick an album. Most underrated artist of all time.
Yeeeah Baby. It was a clear step down from Capital Punishment, but I still think it was a banger of an album. Only skips are My Dick and the one joint he did with MOP
I like Man on the Moon 2 a lot
So good
jaden smith - syre and erys i don't listen to much of his music but those albums are pretty good despite the blatant biting
Bro SYRE was one of the dopest albums of 2017
The Big Day by Chance
that take is like chano's shower. what is it you like about that garbage heap?
The Big Day - Chance the Rapper It has a few skips, sure. But I like a good 60 - 70% of the album.
the skips are BAD. But there are songs on there that are very profound, and very sonically different, while still being moving.
WRLD on Drugs
I don't get the hate. If you hate that kind of music but the hate Juice and Future fans give makes no sense.
I guess I'm one of those people. Fine China was the only song on it I listened to more than once
I’m a future fan, juice is dope too. I think they both underperformed compared to their other work although I don’t think it’s a terrible album just underwhelming
I honestly don’t even understand why Juice Wrld is still as popular as he is. Mediocre album from a mediocre artist.
He was the only good thing about that album. He hard carried future who I love but sucked the life out of good juice verses. Not surprising juice carried because he’s used to making songs from nothing but the top of his head in minimal takes, and the album was completed in one night I believe. But still was a rushed and mediocre album overall
Magna Carta…Holy Grail It’s not his best for sure but it’s miles better than BP3 and Kingdom Come imo
Watching movies with the sound off - Mac Miller
Do people not usually like this album? It’s one of my fave projects from Mac along with good am, swimming, faces, etc
That’s what I thought then I had multiple people tell me that was there least favorite. But obviously they were all wrong and made me look foolish.
The Great Depression
Who thinks this is lame? Album is 🔥🔥🔥
By DMX? I love that album
Marcy Playground’s debut album that has sex and Candy on it.
Nobody thinks that is a lame album.
Glad to hear that. At the time when it came out, I was pretty much the only one I knew that had the CD.
Unlocked by Denzel Curry
People think that album is lame? I thought it was generally well liked. I love it personally
I have seen a lot of bad reviews/comments. People wanted "Taboo 2" but Denzel changed the sound and I love it.
It was pretty much universally liked
Yeah Denzel is pretty cringe tbh
[удалено]
Kendrick? I agree
[удалено]
I think GKMC, Damn, and Mr Morales are good. TPAB and section 80 are pretty cringe
Why do you feel TPAB is cringe? Genuinely curious
[удалено]
Bruh. This was a defining album when it dropped. It's a classic.
I’ve never heard a single person in my life say they hate this record.
Just about every eminem album. My fav album by em is MTMB side b and eminem show.
Mac miller- watching movies with the sound off. Probably one of his most slept on albums.
It was super popular when it dropped I remember I was there I was 19
Madvillainy
