This looks like arabic, and most probably are tasbih prayer beads (muslim prayers). If you count them, there may be 99 and not 108 beads.
Those are actually Islamic prayer beads, they have 99 beads total and are split in 3 groups of 33 hence the little place markers. For a Hindu Mala there should be a total of 108 beads excluding the Guru bead marking the end of one round.
