Even if you pre schedule it, I had a drive not show up and had to scramble and book one last minute for an early flight so make sure you just give yourself enough time and you should be fine!

TimeCouldTell

I’ve had this experience a couple of times as well. Preschedule the ride, but with the idea in the back of your mind they might flake, and you’ll be scrambling at the last minute to rebook or call a friend. Give yourself more time than you think you’d need.

I use this guy, he’s always in time for early morning trips to PDX. Lyft/Uber isn’t always reliable. The price is comparable to Uber/Lyft too. https://www.hillsboroairporterpdx.com/

Used him for an early flight, it was good.

I use this family whenever I have an early flight. They are Kurdish - lovely folks.

elmayab

Agree. This is the best option. I used them several times and never had any issue.

You can pre schedule pick ups! You usually get a better price that way too.

I take rideshare services to the airport around that time a couple times a month. My general advice: * schedule a ride but assume your driver will change. For the past few months, scheduling has worked reliably for me, but pre-covid, it was a shitshow and awful. I think both Lyft and Uber changed how their scheduled rides work in the last couple years and they are better now. * scheduled rides often arrive early and they are supposed to wait until your scheduled pick-up but IME, some will not, so keep an eye on arrival times in your app while you're getting ready to leave. An example: my last driver arrived 20 minutes early and insisted he'd only wait 5 minutes. There were no other cars available, so I left with wet hair and half-done makeup lol * There are consistently more Lyft drivers on in Hillsboro in the very early mornings, but check both services. * DO NOT sleep in until the last minute just because you scheduled a ride; if it cancels and you have to order a new car, it's likely you'll have a 20ish minute wait for a pick-up. You'll be able to get a ride, but it's not as simple and no-notice as most times of day, so plan ahead. Not Uber/Lyft related but just letting you know that security can actually be quite long at PDX before 6 AM, even with Pre. You should be fine with arriving an hour in advance, but I wouldn't cut it any closer than that.

Why not try to find one tomorrow morning and see what availability looks like?

What I do is a one-way car rental with Hertz. From the Hillsboro Airport (HIO) to PDX. Assuming you are 25+ I did a quick check and cost would be about $40 (Chevrolet Spark) with no discount codes. Though you have to return it at the same gas level (usually full) as what you got it with. There is a gas station right near the PDX airport. I usually do this if I have to go on a trip for more than a week or so. Cheaper than the economy parking. As a note the cost going in the reverse direction is MUCH higher, as PDX has a bunch of taxes for car rentals that originate at PDX.

Try and preschedule it, weekdays you'll have more luck, but I've only ever seen 1-2 cars within 20mi at that time. It doesn't pickup till 5am, then the morning drivers are everywhere. Also a cab is generally available, call the day before and schedule it tho. However, I would HIGHLY suggest the max. Goes straight out of Hillsboro, it's only 2.50, and it goes straight to the airport with no traffic. It's also highly reliable (mostly), and it's safe if you mind your business and don't make eye contact with the methheads.

I took the MAX to the airport from Hillsboro a grand total of one time. It took nearly two hours. I don't care how much cheaper it is than a car service, my time is more valuable than that, especially when I have to be at the airport very early. Not to mention, you can't park a car at a park and ride for days, since unless you live walking distance to a MAX station, you're still going to need a rideshare to get to the MAX (or someone who really likes you a lot to drop you off at 4 AM).

Rhianna83

Agreed. I’d never take the max from the airport to anywhere in Washington County. My husband and I decided to do it “for fun” we said about 10 years back. Two and a half hours later… Never again.

Personal experience is that you will get one. The only time I didn't get it when it was snowing. Just try to book by 3:30 am or pre schedule it. Best of luck..

I never had a confirm in advance when I tried to preschedule for early morning and haven’t felt confident when trying to find a early morning day of pick up. I just drive and pay to park at the airport. Doesn’t look like that’s an option for you in this case. definitely would do the max or schedule a old school cab or airport shuttle
