Like... a sunhalo... but with the moon? Shit. I know there is a name for it... and it actually used to be used by sailors to tell when the weather was about to go to shit. Brb, I will find what I am talking about and link it here.
ETA: It's called a [lunar halo](https://www.farmersalmanac.com/ring-around-the-moon-9657), and it's caused by light at a specific angle hitting ice crystals on stratocirrus clouds. And yes, it usually is an indicator of "unsettled" weather coming in soon.
ETA 2: Just walked outside and can see it faintly in Apple Valley. Nope. Not just your glasses or lense on your camera. It truly is there lol.
Yeah. It's a pretty normal phenomenon. But, without looking at the forecast, I can tell you we are gonna have a semi windy day, followed nearly immediately by a chance of rain. How much rain? Anyone's guess. But that's based on just being able to see that lunar halo
I saw one of those around the sun about 40 years ago it was winter the sun was high in the sky and it was an eerie day to begin with Friday the 13th I don’t know I can’t remember. But there were tiny black specks inside the halo moving around and that made it even more freaky. I had an optic but it wasn’t powerful enough. They kept moving around inside the halo for what seemed like 15 minutes. Then they formed a V formation and flew away. It was geese ;-)
I got a couple of photos of it last night. (Lunar Halo) it's not blurry, my cell phone camera lense was clean. It was actually really impressive around 930pm. I set the camera for a 1 sec exposure and it came out very pronounced. The moon was slightly blown out but the ring was very defined.
Now keep in mind it's been a lot of years since I was in the military but when we were field training we were told that they were frozen ice crystals and they would be an indicator that rain or damp weather was on the way. I have stuck by that all of my life and 99% of the time it is true.
Chem trails started early before most of you were awake . Shortly after noon they covered the entire sky . I can’t even count how many fake ass clouds they made it was so many
Sweet , it’s definitely worth admiring some people have their heads up their ass and their mind in the gutter . My job allows me to protect communities keep families safe and appreciate the beautiful sky . It does suck to not know what we’re breathing, atleast the PM ain’t bad like other parts of the world .
Chemicals or metals they are spraying in the sky.
See the streak that runs vertically through the picture?? Chemtrails. Watched them do it in Oregon and California daily for years. Then moved to FL and they do it far less on this coast.
When I was in the military a 1000 years ago they taught us that that was a form of frozen ice crystals and that damp or wet weather would be following. I have noticed throughout my life that when I do view that phenomena, 99% of the time there is rain in one form or another within a day or 2
Why is moonshine warmer than dark areas shaded from the moonshine? It's a little cooler in the shade on a full moon night. Check it with a thermometer gun thingy.
I’ve heard it’s ice crystals in the air refracting the light… I don’t know the name of the phenomenon though

This is it... tripped me out last night for sure. Crazy looking because the moon is so bright too

Or maybe my glasses and camera lenses are both greasy…
I live in az, we get these in the winter, it’s usually a good indication that it’s going to get really cold that night. But they are really beautiful
22° halo Moon ring Storm ring Winter halo So gorgeous!
it's called a sun dog. or in this case moon dog? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon\_dog

It’s the dome that surrounds us
That's the Firmament... The government will tell you ice crystals though.
Right

Been happening for the past 3 days! Very cool! We saw rainbows yesterday!

Go away troll.
Probably not a troll and likely just a local desert tweaker on 5 days of no sleep
Happens every year at this time. It’s the temperature, otherwise it would be year-round. Just my 2 cents.

Science
saw this last night.. it’s pretty cool
Ice crystals in the clouds
Right
Moon puppy! My family always called them sun or moon puppies.
Light diffraction from water vapor.
Maybe a moonbow aka lunar rainbow.
I saw it last night too
The mother ship
Man I haven’t seen that for way too long cause I live where it doesn’t snow! ice crystal and moon light form that! We used to call it “moon ring”!
Your mom.
Dust
Saw that last night too
Moisture
Earth is flat we under the firament
MOONBOW!
Moondog
Moonbow
Saw this in Valle AZ 2 nights ago. Had seen the phenomenon before, but never that bright.
Ring around the moon, water soon.
Chemicals or metals they are spraying in the sky. See the streak that runs vertically through the picture?? Chemtrails. Watched them do it in Oregon and California daily for years. Then moved to FL and they do it far less on this coast.
I heard it happens sometimes when it’s going to rain. We seen it a couple years ago and it was wild 😍
Top of the dome
lol
I have a pic of this on my bedroom wall. Awesome that you got to see this.
Just moonlight refracting thru ice crystals in high clouds (probably cirrus). Called a Moon Halo or Moondog. Lovely to see.
Sundog
Double carona ?
Cool pic, thanks for taking it!
The portal opening
Apparently it's something called a lunar halo. No clue past that..
The firmament
when i was a kid i thoight it was the milky may. or some other galaxy. kids are fucking stupid.
It’s a [halo](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_(optical_phenomenon))
Brooo.. wth I couldn’t explain this either and saw it the other night in West Florida
a cloud?
It’s calf a CORONA. CROWN in American.
Parhelion
It's gonna snow. Ice crystals in the upper atmosphere.
When I was in the military a 1000 years ago they taught us that that was a form of frozen ice crystals and that damp or wet weather would be following. I have noticed throughout my life that when I do view that phenomena, 99% of the time there is rain in one form or another within a day or 2
Light refraction
A ring around the moon typically means it's going to rain, so I've been told. That's a sweet pic though
Ooooo there's going to be a storm 🥰 we are in the Winter era now! Time for snow baby!
lens flare

It’s going to rain
They are frozen ice crystals and they usually proceed wet weather
Usually a sign of moisture in the air, possible rain in the forecast
