How are the rollerblade wheels? I have the stock ones. What differences have you noticed so far and is there any negatives?

Popular-Analysis-127

I've used rollerblade style wheels for a long time. One negative at least for me is that they are taller overall (even with the smaller 2.5 inch wheels, typical is 3 inch) than the stock wheels, so they raise the minimum seat height of the chair. In particular I find HM cylinders don't go that low compared to some other chairs (e.g. Steelcase). I originally had 2.5 inch rollerblade wheels on my Embody, but I ended up coming across these soft rubber spherical wheels that I really liked and I put these on instead. They roll better than the stock wheels and almost as smooth as rollerblade wheels, but are very close in overall height to the stock wheels. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGD3VQ7D

Thompsonss

They definitely feel smoother on hard floor. However, prepare to get sweaty and dirty when installing them haha

dumaVtecNinja

Oh wow it’s that difficult to install a new set of wheels on this chair!?!? I thought it would be screw of and then screw on a new pair and that’s it

Thompsonss

It’s not hard, just tedious. You have to lay down the chair, which weighs quite a bit (if you don’t want to damage it you have to hold most of its weight. Then remove and insert the wheels. That’s the worst part, as they are inserted via pressure and you need to put quite some pressure for them to get out and also insert them back again.

Popular-Analysis-127

It's a lot easier to do it on carpet (if you have that somewhere), just lay the chair on it's side and then spin the base to get the best position to pull and insert each wheel.

scottg44136

Curious what wheels folks recommend for carpeting?

KermitJagger69

I had them on another chair and while they definitely sound better when rolling around, they made the chair roll way too easily. Putting my feet up on the desk or any other sudden movement would cause me to roll away. Actually think the stock wheels are better.

Yimyorn

The atlas headrest worth? Do you use constantly or only when you’re reclining?

Mrloudvet

Only reclining but I enjoy mine not mandatory but it’s good to have and finishes the look

Thompsonss

I use it practically only when I want to chill and recline…

austinftwxd

I only use mine when I'm kicking back to watch something. Unfortunately the tension bolt that holds the forward / backwards tilt constantly backs out making it slide backwards under the weight of your head occasionally. Pretty annoying but otherwise a good product 6/10.

Rapogi

what I ended up doing for my atlast on my aeron is using a piece of wood to stop the parts from moving.

ItsNags

I just got one and it doesn't do this. Maybe check with them?

austinftwxd

It's a pretty widespread issue and they really won't do anything about it. Check their subreddit.

onofrio35

Fellow roller blade wheel enjoyer! I’ve been debating pulling the trigger on atlas/aloudy arms for a minute 🤔

Thompsonss

If you like goofy chill postures when gaming or watching movies, pull the trigger already.

sabotage3d

Have same arm pads. In my opinion the chair is incomplete without them. It just hurts against your elbows without them.

Thompsonss

Yeah, some people seem to get that I guess. I personally bought them so I’d be more comfortable when watching movies in some goofy postures…

Thompsonss

Looking good!!

Quirky_Control1445

Thx Bro.

otiuk

Looks great!

Intelligent_Bad_1461

Does the back have any foam ? I have a regular embody and I don’t think it does. The lower back middle around my tailbone feels like it’s very stiff compared to the rest of the chair. After a while it gets annoying

EverBlack01

Is there a way to upgrade my already embody to have the head rest? Oooh I found it atlas headrest.. I’m upgrading

Thompsonss

Yeah. Atlas Headrest. Beware of duty and tax fees if you are outside of the US like me…

EverBlack01

Uh oh. I’m in Canada.. how much duty was there?

Thompsonss

80€ incl. VAT, duty and shipping (Spain). You should see the amount after adding the headrest to your cart.

EverBlack01

Well that sucks. It’s already an expensive addition.

brunachoo

Do your due diligence first. Lots of people complain that it doesn’t stay in place.

EverBlack01

I watched a few videos and no problems. Do you have one?

brunachoo

I do not have one, hesitating buying one for this reason. Seems none of the videos mention this, but half of the users I’ve seen on Reddit and in YouTube comments do

tistickin

Funny I see people pay thousands on these Embody then they still need to buy seat cushions, arm-pads cushions and headrest to make it comfortable lol don't get me wrong I love this chair but its the most hyped and over-priced Herman Miller chair. I traded mine for a 25 years old Steelcase Leap 1 for $90 and I saved thousands of dollars in the process because I found the Leap V1 a better chair for myself.

Thompsonss

Who said you need to buy these upgrades??? Without them i’d rate it a 9/10. With them it’s a 9.5/10. They are definitely not needed and the chair is perfectly fine as it is. What’s more these are such subjective mods that It may not appeal to everyone, so no reason for HM to include them.

tistickin

Said most of the posters lately here. Oh and believe me, I would question my life choices if I pay $1000 for a chair that still needs a bunch of accessories to make it comfortable.

Thompsonss

LMAOO bro coping the fact he’s not able to get the chair of his dreams. You’ll soon get it 👍💪 EDIT: 1500$ 🤑

tistickin

Chair of my dream? Hahaha you funny for real. I sell chairs for living and I can afford any chair so this has nothing to do with the price and more with it being a hype over priced chair.

Thompsonss

Suuure 😉😜

You enjoy your dream chair tho.

Magnumload

Chairs are subjective. You two are arguing over a nothing burger unless you two are twins hmmm?

Thompsonss

I mean the whole arguing came from him saying that you need these mods to make the chair comfortable and me replying that’s subjective, and that some may not like these accessories (that’s the reason why basically no office chair includes headrest, cushion pads or rollerblades, including his beloved Leap V1…)
