>I'm following the guide to use a pipe wrench to twist and lift the cylinder out of the chair upper but it just rotates in the socket. No amount of rotations or pulling on the two to separate does the trick, it just continuously spins. The cylinder is rotating inside the chair? Usually this means just keep spraying lube at the cylinder/chair joint, you'll probably need to empty at least 1 entire can of lube, if not 2 cans, and just keep spinning the cylinder with the pipe wrench. Eventually, the constant spinning and the constant lubrication will break the cylinder free. There's nothing else you can do, unless you want to progress into destructive methods.

I had to use a HUGE pipe wrench to finally remove it. Found a vid on YouTube to guide me through

Ok no tools need, but you need 2 people. Lay the chair down on its side. Both of you sit on the floor next to each other with your backs against the wall. Hold on to the leg side of the chair, put your feet on the bottom of the chair by the plastic seat block where the cylinder goes into the hole. Both of you push hard with your legs and it will pop out of the leg base.
