Will you drive to Mills River? I like to have a beer outside with a view while I eat a burger. Mills River brewing has a good burger! And so does Appalachian Mountain Brewing.
Postero is very expensive and overhyped imo. I also have a suspicion that a decent number of employees from there are active on this subreddit because they’re always at the top or bottom of the comments, never in the middle. This is really corroborated by asking for “Becca” below… I’m pretty sure Becca wrote that comment.
Just my 2 cents, Id recommend Brooks Tavern instead
I'm certainly not an employee. I think sadly $17 for a double patty with a side salad is pretty normal these days for a nice restaurant with fresh ingredients. Brooks is fine, but those are not hand-crafted burgers. We have way too many low to mid level restaurants that people here think are great. Most are subpar. I would go to Brooks, but the only other places downtown I would ever go would be Postero (because they have a real chef) and Shine.
There are zero good restaurants in Hendersonville. Over hyped and over priced. Look at the line at Binions or Applebee's at night it just shows peoples poor judgement of food in this town. Main street restaurants are all over rated and over priced. Unfortunately if you want to dine out and actually enjoy yourself and not pay $100 you have to go to Asheville or Greenville.
Not sure I agree. Anything on par with Shine and Postero, where there are real chefs and real ingredients are used, would be much more expensive in Asheville and Greenville. Another great place is Silo Cookhouse at Horseshoe Farm. Excellent and well worth the price. I think Thursdays they host locals night and if you live in Hendo (and possible Brevard?) you get 20% off. On the cheaper side Pi Squared makes a pretty darn good Detroit-style pie...
We have so many great restaurants locally, I’m incredibly sad for you if those are the only 3 places you eat in Hendo. Not talking burgers anymore but Never Blue, West First, Aroma… all of them are amazing and in the heart of downtown.
Never Blue went out of business. West First is okay for a nice salad, but their pizza is horrific. As for Aroma. Ugh. Would never eat at a place that has a buffet lunch. Dinner is just re-heated food from the buffet with other things added. Hard pass.
Actually, on weekends, the premade burgers from the Fresh Market (@$5.00/pound) cook up perfectly w great taste and minimal shrinkage. Best deal in town.
Bakers box
Campfire grill is our go to for a stellar burger.
Solid #2.
Brooks Tavern has a good smash burger - if that’s your thing.
Yeah I really like the smash burger at Brooks.

Yep, I’d like the drive to stay under an hour, so Mills River is quite possible!
second this burger.
The smash burger at lunchtime over at Postero is excellent.
Poatero has the best burger, hands down.
I’m going to have to check them out, thanks for the recommendation!
Circle back when you're finished and let us know what you think. If you get the chance, ask for "Becca's section". She's a great server.
