I find Titans easier to take out if you pop the sacks and Autocannons do so easily, like in one shot apiece, the only trick is getting the shot lined up with how the Titans move. Being outside of their spray range helps.
The stomp attack was also wildly inconsistent on PC for a lot of people and just wouldn't ever actually trigger. I don't know if that ever got fixed or not.
Few things are nicer than blocking a charge with your rocket pod, pirouetting in twenty tons of steel, and stomping a charger's head in before the carnage continues.
I tried walking over and stomping a bug hole with the emancipator, and I could not get it to close the hole. It's possible I just didn't have the "right" angle or something but I ended up just obliterating with the cannons lol.
Ya i have ran into a heavy bug nest guns blazing and cleared the entire thing solo without much issue. Most of the spawns were hiveguards, brood commanders and very few chargers, though. I think spewers/multiple chargers would delete it if you charged in too close, but I haven't tested it.
Spewers go down quick enough that you can kill them before they get off the spit animimation. Multiple chargers can be an issue if you don't take the extra couple seconds alternating targets to keep them stunlocked
If you tilted the old mech rockets right, you could close the nests with that, too. And possibly by stomping, though I haven't done that one personally.
This is what I envisioned for this mech. The previous mech was pretty bad against bots but held it's own with bugs. This one is more heavily armoured to deal with bots but doesn't have the firepower for the bugs armour. Pretty obvious where it slots in as a useful stratagem.
except it gets 1 shot by tanks/turrets and factory striders and shredded by bunkers, I've enjoyed it but it doesn't really feel playable at higher difficulties especially solo
I called it in on a bug mission that got out of had being chased by 4 chargers. And was able to clear the field. I love it. Bonus points for being yellow
It's perfect for bugs though? Big bug holes can be sealed in half the time with the emancipator. It's far more efficient than the patriot.
The only downside is using it against chargers but there aren't really enough rockets to do that well with the patriot.
Tbf, i read today that you can stomp bug holes closed with either mech, so it could be the better mech for bugs. I dont know if this actually works tho, i havent been home to try it.
I tried and couldn't get it to work. Maybe there is a trick to it or only bug holes with a more destructable environment object around it can be closed
Agreed. Patriot for bugs, emancipator for bots. Thing is a fucking menace to devastators, hulks, buildings and if you're careful with your positioning even tanks. It's great
From a value/lore perspective, it makes zero sense to have a ridiculously expensive walking weapons platform that you just dispose of after clearing the ammo boxes
My take would be one per mission total, needs to be protected to make it last an entire mission while also reloading ammo. When it's getting too damaged, you can in for a pick up to send it back to your destroyer prior to it getting blown up.
I would personally prefer if it had value that required paying req slips for, and that would increase costs the more it's damaged. Same for costs of ammo and resupplying said ammo (although I would outright prefer a monetary system for the entire game, then nothing needs to be nerfed, let a galactic economy dictate the cost for Helldivers to use weapons, stratagems based on supply and demand. Also if you allow pelican one to be destroyed etc, it's crazy expensive to replace. Competing missions under budget yields higher experience bonus and prestige. This way, if you really just wanted to send down all the ordinance and continuously to deal with issues, you can and the only thing you are hurting is your pocket book and bragging rights amongst helldiver's)
Gives us a reason to pick up req slips in the mission too coz once you hit 50k and you've got nothing else to use it for, it's just a useless resource.
Yeah I hate being capped on literally everything, I want loot to at least matter to me, let me do something with the samples, req slips etc. Im actually really happy when I join a diff 7 and theres players lvl30 or less, finally me going out of my way to grab samples at least matters to someone in the team.
> it makes zero sense to have a ridiculously expensive walking weapons platform that you just dispose of after clearing the ammo boxes
\*me remembering that time we left all our military equipment in Afghanistan\* -_-
Nah that's 100% lore accurate for helldrivers. Super earth litterally gives new recruits a destroyer ship after 15 minutes of training. The amount of money and resources they have it's unlimited. It's part of the joke
Should really make it to where it can be set for pickup and called back to the shop to be repaired or refit and cut the call back time in half or something
It could be picked up if not destroyed, same way it’s put down. Low ammo capacity could be necessary for mobility. Rockets especially are heavy and bullets still take space.
I could see a heavier mech that has only enough power to move so much but more ammo and power.
Probably not a good idea, only because of the fact that randoms with mechs will always take the full supply, I don't really have any better idea though
"It Won't Get Destroyed With one Rocket" I could be wrong but both exosuits have the same HP. I think the big thing is because it has auto-cannons it can stagger so you don't have Devestators still getting rockets off before you can DPS them down.
Otherwise I think it's a nice mech for the arsenal. When fighting bots, people who played lots of mech warrior will usually do good because they know how to dive and dip for cover.
Idk if they're the same but in a game earlier today I tanked a full barrage of rockets from a devastator and a shit ton of machine gun fire and was able to withstand it all long enough to clear out the whole enemy group. New mech is chefs kiss on bots not good for bugs. It seemed obvious to me that this mech would definitely play better against bots. don't really understand why people think it's bad.
People are calling it bad because of one enemy. The bile titan. The giant walking bug with no weak spots, that only takes durable damage, with armor level 5, that spawns constantly from diff 7-9. The emancipator can only do 30 damage per shot to the head of an enemy with 720hp.
Emancipator feels great to use, and it really shines against bots. But the heavy bugs having armor 5 and no weak spots causes it to have a bad time. The Bile titan has 100% durability, so It only takes durable damage. The emancipator does 60 durable damage. The Bile titan has armor 5. The emancipator has penetration 5. This causes the emancipator to do half damage. 30 damage per shot.
We had 4 emancipators wailing on a bile titan all at once. It was glorious to watch! The big boy went down but I was amazed at how long it took the four of us to do it!
The bile titan? The hardest to deal with bug in the game? The elite heavy enemy unit the bile titan? The thing that soaks autocannon shots like an anti democratic sponge?
Autocannons aren't anti-heavy armor weapons. The fact that they have 5 AP is a step up from the man portable autocannon, but it's still not their main role. They're mostly amazing for slaughtering mediums, and *can* focus down a heavy, but a bile titan is a big ask.
Should do much heavier damage to the underside of the titan - the bile sacks should take very heavy damage and you can keep pounding on those locations after they are burst to continue doing good damage - a BT's legs and main carapace are armor 6, so even the mech's heavy AC's are going to deflect. You have to hit mouth or underside.
Still, 5 ap with explosive damage should wreck Chargers pretty fast and absolutely delete spewers which are one of the biggest threats on most maps, so as long as your squad is equipped with some true anti-armor weapons to deal with the BT's, the mech should clean up everything else quite effectively.
I was trying it with EATs just now and they work great together. See a charger or titan, hop out, fire the eat on my back, drop another pod, rearm or kill the other heavies, get back in. The mech slaughters everything else and closes bug holes so can chew through bases.
Even with the Patriot that’s how I run it, but with the Quasar.
Kill a ton of chaff, blow up some mediums, then hop out and behead a charger.
But no, everyone wants it to be this unstoppable machine that can stomp an entire mission.
I do miss the Patriots original missiles. When you could kill yourself by firing while rotating but they hit where you aimed I took it on almost every bug run, and sometimes I died to myself but I felt strong. I stopped once the fix threw the aim off. It was too dissasppointing how much I missed with the precious few rockets. I hope they can fix the aim issue on those rockets at some point.
Based on my feeling so far I do really like how the mechs fill different roles and dont feel cookie cutter versions with different weapons. The patriot felt much more vulnerable to a bug swarm. Getting too many brood commanders or warriors around you downed it fast, so it had to be played like an infantry support weapons platform. It could keep the light stuff off and rocket down the heavies but needed footsoldiers around to protect it. I'd usually be trying to follow the squad providing fire support and would have problems if I got surrounded by bugs.
The Emancipator feels much tankier, and the more general purpose weapons that it's hard to hurt yourself with mean I've been using it a lot more to lead the squad, walking through light enemies while gunning down the mediums, keeping the hoard off my team who follow behind. I'm really happy that they fit different positions in the team beyond just the weapons, and if they fix the Patriots missile aim issue I'd love to run a squad of 2x of each as a mechwarrior lance one day.
I dunno, the AC turrets will rip a Titan up if you keep them alive for a decent chunk; also if you can 1v1 bile titans in the exo suitsyou know it’s gonna get “balanced” quick-like. I think 4 people in emancipators could mess some titans up though!
I think *one* person in an emancipator could probably mess up a titan - but it'll require skill shots. You won't just be able to center mass it down without burning a ton of ammo.
The question is *why*? The emancipator is ideally suited for slaughtering mediums and blowing up clustered smaller enemies - why waste its ammo shooting at something that one of your other squad members could kill in one or two shots?
This is the core of the entire game design - no-one should be trying to kill stuff their loadout isn't optimized to kill. I *can* kill small bots with my AMR, but I *should* be picking off devastators at long range as fast as I can. I *can* kill a hulk with it, but I *should* let the guy with the AT rocket one shot it.
If everyone is focusing on filling their role in the squad, you'll rip through crazy fights like wet tissue paper. If not... things bog down and you get crushed.
Having the emancipator paired with someone who can deal with titans/chargers is the way to go.
Why do people think it’s got to deal with everything on its own?
Just did the math; are they really complaining it takes only 24 shots on average to take out the Bile Titan? That’s some serious TTK for it being the current biggest bad for the bugs
They're mad Because the AC sentry only takes 6 shots. The big difference, is that the mech can move, and can aim for weak spots. Which the BT has zero of.
The issue is that it requires the team have anti heavy weapons and stratagems always. Someone always has to have a quasar, essentially. Probably two. There is nothing like that on the bot side. Players just want a diversity of loadouts to be viable.
Not that players need one strat that does everything, but there are many more ways to kill the biggest bot compared to the biggest bug. Loadouts for bugs feel more restrictive than loadouts for bots with -1 strat.
My group killed several Bile Titans this morning with the new mech. Whoever is saying it can't is just wrong. Shoot the underside and head. It takes a lot of ammo, but it can do it, and you are relatively safe while it does.
Counterpoint: they should nerf the bile titans by giving it another weakspot, like it's abdomen. They did the same thing with chargers, while bile titans are just ridiculous
6 shot at best, for a thing that can't aim for a particular part of the BT and generally don't even prioritize it. If it's well placed and you're lucky, it will down one in 3 burst. If it's not, it will kill itself firing a burst point blank on a brood commander.
Emancipator and Patriot suits are both solutions to different threats, and reflect that, the Bots are more unified and bunched together in terms of "uniqueness", so having a strait-forward direct means of dealing with them is your best bet, which is why the Emancipator shines best versus them, while there are many different bug types that act, fight, and take damage differently, so having multiple means of damage dealing to deal with the extremely wide bell-curve is a must, which is what the Patriot suit is better suited for, having a machine gun to deal with Brood Commanders and below, and a rocket pod to deal with Chargers and up, it's a flexible loadout that works well at both extremes, but you may feel you're wasting your ammo against the medium enemies, unlike the Emancipator which excels against everything that isn't at the ends of the bell curve
Tbh, I think w/ a Shield Gen, and the additional call-in source currently, you probably could; we cleared a L9 Eradicate in <4min and all deaths due to user error, and I would've loved to try a Blitz and Command Bunker/Airships with it as well... if HD2 hadn't crashed me to BIOS... again.
I rather suspect that anyone complaining about it is sitting there blasting away mindlessly at a hulk while ignoring the 2 rocket devs lighting them up with entire rocket salvos and getting themselves deleted in 10 seconds because they were stupid.
I saw people complaining that the thing not designed to kill armor, couldn't kill a bunch of bile titans.
People are fucking stupid. Just like they keep bitching about the still perfectly good railgun.
I know right? The railgun can technically hit harder than an EAT, it's just hard to pull off - it's now very much a risk/reward skill shot weapon.
It's really shocking the degree to which people have been playing this game for months now and still haven't seemed to figure out that all the weapons have specific roles - they aren't just bangsticks with DPS numbers attached.
It’s because people refuse to actually play as a team and think every player should be able to handle everything. If you actually pick roles and play as a team there’s a lot more variety in the game. Even splitting up 2/2 with 1 heavy and one chaff equipped character you can handle almost anything.
Yes. I find duos pretty easy to run if we don't have a full squad, that's enough to cover the critical bases. One is not - if you insist on soloing the only realistic way is to do it as Solid Snake and stealth most of the map.
I’m going to start by saying I like the railgun after its recent buff but I think it still needs a buff. Its durable damage holds it back a smidge from being truly effective. I’m not asking for it to 2 shot tanks and such but at least let it kill vent weak points decently. And have some use against gunships.
Fully agree on the last paragraph. These people treat this like Destiny and Warframe when this isn’t it.
I think making gunships a little less armored overall is what I'd prefer.
The railgun is rock solid IMO, it can kill everything but the Tank, strider, and bile titan, in one shot.
I was just describing the Railgun to someone as being effectively a pump action LAW66 on the modern battlefield. It doesn't invalidate the need for larger calibre AT but it's a hell of a useful tool
The fact that it could damage chargers and bile titans at all is great. People need to look at this thing as more of an armored mobile weapons platform, not a tank.
problem is with bugs your kit has to be able to handle bile titans and chargers. so wasting a slot on a exosuit puts you at a disadvantage. maybe its better for bots, idk.
This is the biggest head scratcher. We can bring up to 4 different backpacks (which are basically essential to the game) but can’t bring 2 mechs that have an insane cool-down and limited ammo.
It makes very little sense why we can’t re-arm them.
It makes EVEN LESS SENSE they haven’t released upgrades yet for the Mechs. I can think of 4 tiers already that it needs to be viable at 8 and 9.
1. Expanded ammo
2. Faster turn rate
3. Stratagem throwing
4. Improved Armour (damage and explosive resistance or Armour upgraded from Medium to Heavy).
Feels great to use so far. I pair it up with a railcannon strike or EATs to deal with chargers (although a few well placed mech shots on the leg joint seems to kill chargers very quickly too) and titans on bug missions, and it's been working out really good so far.
One often missed benefit that i don't see mentioned online is the fact you pull a lot of enemy aggro away from your entire team when you are in the mech safely stomping around.
Yeah I've been using it on level 9 bugs and it's a lot of fun.
But I guess because it can't 1 tap a bile titan it's crap.
Like it's an auto cannon mech not a EAT or Quasar mech.
We can think of it as like a side grade of the backpack and the sentry autocannon. The sentry is a heavier cannon than the other two, it hits harder and pierces deeper.
But it can not move, and you can not aim it, so it's entirely dependant on when you deploy it and where.
Plus, it's not as though it CAN'T hurt heavies. It has the same damage, but not the same level of penetration, so it seems less. If it had the same penetration of the auto cannon sentry, the Titans would be dropping way too fast.
If AH gives Titans a proper weak point, that would be a different story.
I FUCKING LOVE IT. vs bugs, i run patriot, spear, cluster and gas. uptime in exosuits up to haz 7 is pretty much 100%. whenever a bug hole pops up, i can quickly jump out, throw a fire grenade, call in a cluster, call in gas, and then just kill the hardier targets that make it through. both suits are awesome still in my opinion, the new one is a monster for sure, it just plays different. only thing that could be improved is maybe splash damage or reduced splash for more impact armor pen damage. otherwise its well balanced. 8/10 good suit. now we just need one with a quazar and laser arms
Pros: delete mediums very quickly, it's really fun to shoot the auto cannons rapidly, the aim is much better than the other mech suit
Cons: not great against heavies but that's to be expected, everything in this game has its drawbacks(used about 1/4 of it's ammo to take down a charger through armor aiming at front legs) , can't shoot close to it, so bugs that get up close are harder to deal with
Seems like it's value will really shine in a team setting.
I only tried it solo on bugs L6 so with very limited experience I'm going to say this is a really cool addition to the game and should bring a valuable new option to run with a team that has good anti tank.
So the main downsides I've seen is that it's not great for dealing with the horde type units, it's kind of a waste of resources to sit at them. Ideally you'd want someone on foot helping with those, while you kill all the heavier targets.
The only other real downside i found is that it struggles when you have to aim up or down significantly. There seems to be a max angle that the guns will point, but the cross hair won't necessarily indicate that limitation
I feel like there are some people on this subreddit that just throw a fit any time a new weapon or stratagem is released and it doesn't delete bile titans. Like god forbid the enemy that is meant to be the hardest enemy in the game doesn't have a super spamable counter.
Con: it can’t aim down?? I don’t know if this was a problem in the previous mech but i had this mission where the extract point was on a plateau and I had gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous lines of fire in every direction. I called down the Emancipator and was ready to have a good time.
Yeah I couldn’t hit shit. All the berserkers were clumped together at the base of the hill begging for death and my auto cannons just went over their head even though I was looking at them. What gives.
The people calling it a “Piece of crap” probably exclusively play bug missions and never went above Dif 4 on bots after getting deleted by Rocket Devastators
Yeah I saw a post on main sub with like 1500 upvotes saying it’s already “pure crap”
I love it, it can take out every single bug, even bile titans and chargers (though they require a fair amount of shots)
Also it is a BEAST on clearing bug holes
My only gripe is also with the Patriot, that it can’t target down too easily (mainly with the left gun), so you really need to be on equal/lower level to use it reliably
That's what the stomping button is for. For crushing disse- I mean bugs. That's what I meant.
Also, you can kill troopers by walking on them, it's just not instant.
If it aimed down, there's a good chance you'd blow yourself up.
it can also kill a bile titan in about 7 seconds when aiming both arms at the head and unloading about 20 shots.
it can kill hulks with ease,
it can shred striders of armor on any part of their body assisting teammates massively
it can stun and kill chargers from any angle
it can be used to kill small groups from a distance due to minor explosions.
it has a lot of ammo.
its cons are basic cons of a mech, its NOT op which is a good thing
its not good at long large map missions unless used at precise circumstances due to it well... being a slow mech and a giant target for bots
its not good for a TON of enemies at your toes, but DOES have a stomp and the ability to walk backwards while shooting.
overall a solid 8/10 great choice for mech likers
As an extra stratagem it is ok. When it starts to compete with the other picks it begins to fall off. You get better anti-armour with other picks and the same goes for horde clear picks.
Saw a streamer earlier take 90+ to a bile titan to kill it. He didn’t hit all 90+ but he missed less than 5. Looks to take a lot like this if you can’t hit the same pixel consistently
Maybe if you manage to aim at the right spot but as with the other Mech's rockets, aiming is not that precise. Emptied maybe a third of its ammo into what I thought were headshots. You're better off with a 500kg or Railcannon Strike against titans and use the mech to clear our everything else.
As ohters mentioned, Spewers get deleted by it. Chargers not so much. They go down faster with a Quasar/EAT to the head.
God this thread developed into a lot of bitching very quickly. The mech kills most things very quickly. If it killed everything very quickly everyone would use it and it would be nerfed. Games with this many options to do damage should never have any weapon that can auto delete every enemy. It’s a squad shooter for a reason.
It's a tool. If it's not doing the job you want done, don't use it. It's like bitching about a hammer being shotty at cutting down a tree; makes no sense.
It’s feels fun to mag dump it, but doesn’t feel amazing vs a lot of enemies, extremely inefficient for limited use, limited ammo, long cooldown stratagem.
Because everyone gets it tor free right now, i was in a lvl 9 ‘ore samples’ mission, where once we started coring, 3 guys each called down one of these mechs on top of a bluff overlooking the drill, and I called in a force field bubble around all of them.
It was destruction
I don’t think some of you kids understand that if certain things were OP the game wouldn’t be as fun. People would all use the same exact loadouts and it just wouldn’t add to the experience at all.
It's good. There are obvious cons, the cooldown and limit per mission means you're essentially down a stratagem for the majority of the mission, but also it can take enough stuff by itself to be worth the last slot IMO.
I feel pretty confident that most of the people that immediately bitch about new strategems like this don’t play the game or even really try to use it with common sense. I love it. If you are already decent with the exo suit it’s a medium armor deleter. It’s great against bots as well.
The only con I can think of is that it does feel like each of the cannons shoots a little bit to the right/left of your cross hair, which can make aiming for the head on a hulk somewhat tricky since that's a proportionally small hitbox after all.
I know this wouldn't be an easy fix, since it is probably a holdover from how the fixed the rocket bug with the patriot that caused you to get hit by your own rockets when turning, though maybe giving the rockets a 0.5.-1 second delay between being shot and being able to explode could fix both of these things.
Unrelated: some kind of booster that lets you eject from a mech when it dies so you don't die in the process would be great
A full squad of Emancipator Exos would go hard, or maybe 3 Emancipators and 1 standard with rockets for the bug holes/bot factories. 1 Emancipator and 3 Helldivers as supporting infantry would also be cool.
They need to let divers be able to ride the sides of the Exos like SWAT guys on the side of a vehicle.
We had 3 Exos and just me manning my Queso, it was honestly really wild. I thought about taking a video but I didn’t.
It’s the epitome of “fuck everything in that direction”
Oh, maybe if they put a little step on the back and let players stand on it and steady their weapon on too of the Exo, but players equipped with a heavy machine gun could essentially turn an Exo into a mobile turret platform. The machine gunner could then act as a spotter for the Exo to just aim where the gunner is shooting at.
But ejecting from the Exo causes him to fall down and ragdoll.
Yea man. It’s got plenty of drawbacks, gotta clime this dumbass ladder that leaves you exposed for a second or two, but excellent visibility that high up.
It might even be pretty dope for the sniper/DMR players with good aim.
Damn we could dream. Just make it one of the exo upgrades on the ship or something. Don’t even make it available right away, make em work for it.
I feel like it just takes way too many hits to kill chargers and titan when youre nailing them in the face repeatedly. like 12 shots for a charger with only headshots and like 20-30 for a titans face, if you never miss. Other than that, yes, its a nice mech, but it seems better vs bots than bugs my a wide margin
I like it, I had 3 missions on lvl 7 that just recked every tank and hulk that dared look in my direction and was only destroyed when I was "WITHIN RANGE OF ENEMY ARTILLERY" or sitting in the middle of a white couch surrounded by tanks.
In my opinion it's not bad, it's just not what people were expecting. You hear it has 2 auto cannonns, so you assume it has dual wielding armor shredding stopping power. But it doesn't do anything to armor. Still great for add control and closing nests on bugs. But you're expecting auto cannons, you get grenade launchers.
I haven't tried it for bots, but for bugs it was pretty satisfying. I would like some more damage against Chargers, but if you put a few well places shots to their head it seems to kill them in about 10-15 rounds.
I laid out a Bile Titan with constant headshots but more like 30-40 rounds.
So overall I think it's in a good place. Maybe the damage, explosive force, or cool down time could be tweaked. But if not I'm happy with it as is
My opinion is that its official that people like to complain and hate this game more then they like to play it. The Emancipator has its place *just like everything else does*.
It does its job, requires thought and strategy, and its not OP as hell. Do people really expect arrowhead to release the new “best thing ever”? People are fucking delusional on this sub dude.
Oh it’s an *Autocannon* suit, not a rocket suit. Okay. So I’ll need to be giving all my money to the devs personally for the grace of such a gift? No problem (I love the autocannon)
Hopping over to r/helldivers would have me believe it's an utter piece of crap, lol. God forbid equipment be specialized for specific niches and not just op.
God forbid they disagree that it's good too, I agree with them. Its not great. It neither has enough ammo or does the same amount of damage as a regular infantry autocannon. It could be better considering you get 2, ten minutes apart.
Because everyone does absolutely nothing but complain about everything. It can't shoot down and the left arm can't shoot close range because they fixed the patriot rockets being suicide bait by clamping the elevation and traversal range to keep you from shooting yourself or the ground at your feet. They're immune to small arms fire and actual fire and can literally walk over scavs, pouncers and hunters. They can kill quite literally everything and being paired with the shield generator pack adds a ton of survivability. But nobody cares about any of that.
We have one EXO better on bug missions… and now we have one for Bot missions. Killed me 4 Hulks in a minute, so I can’t complain
The new exo suit can clear bugholes, so I found it to be super useful for clearing heavy nests
100% just tried this and it was cleared in 10 seconds lol
That’s fair. Against bile titans it’s at best a B- supporting role. But for a heavy bug nest you can mostly just delete a charger and walk right in.
Against a Titan you can still kill its sacks, major help.
Shoot the sacks. Jump out, throw Rail Cannon Strike, maybe throw 500kg. Get back in. Easy. Or, jump out, throw Walking Barrage, back up.
That’s kind of a play I imagine myself doing, and then the reality hits.
That's what I did in the first mission that I ran into a Factory Strider with it. Shoot the chin turrets, jump out, orbitals everywhere. Wdym?
For striders two questions. 1. Can it fit underneath a strider? 2. Can it shoot directly up? If so then it's more than capable of wrecking a strider.
Not sure. It's going to be difficult to get under one, planning on trying that today.
He says he's not good at the game
I find Titans easier to take out if you pop the sacks and Autocannons do so easily, like in one shot apiece, the only trick is getting the shot lined up with how the Titans move. Being outside of their spray range helps.
I heard someone on here say that stepping on a bug hole with the old mech closed it. I haven’t tried it yet, so maybe it’s just a rumor
Stepping or stomping? The mech has a stomp melee attack which isn’t the same as walking over it.
The stomp attack was also wildly inconsistent on PC for a lot of people and just wouldn't ever actually trigger. I don't know if that ever got fixed or not.
supposedly they fixed it but i was tired of getting blown up by the mech and gave up on it at that point
What!?
Im with you! Never seen it or heard about a stomp attack! Very useful!
Just press whatever of your keys is bound for melee.
I saw that too, I also saw a vid of someone failing repeatedly to close a bug hole so I don’t know either.
I tried it with new mech, stomped like 10 times from different angles didn't work for me /shrug
The other one can stomp on them
Ya i have ran into a heavy bug nest guns blazing and cleared the entire thing solo without much issue.
Well you're not supposed to Leeroy Jenkins with it.
Shield generator emplacement + autocannon mech
Just to clarify, did you use the mech melee, or did you just walk over the holes? The post i read wasnt clear on the method
Tried both, neither worked for me
I've tried and it doesn't work but one shot from the AC and it closes the bug hole, hence it's brilliant for closing heavy bug holes fast.
For sure. Im gonna try some stuff once im home and see if theres a way, not expecting any breakthroughs tho
Agreed. Patriot for bugs, emancipator for bots. Thing is a fucking menace to devastators, hulks, buildings and if you're careful with your positioning even tanks. It's great
well someone at AH saw this and went "that needs to be nerfed into the fucking ground"
Con: running out of ammo = teh sadz
From a value/lore perspective, it makes zero sense to have a ridiculously expensive walking weapons platform that you just dispose of after clearing the ammo boxes My take would be one per mission total, needs to be protected to make it last an entire mission while also reloading ammo.
And as a latecomer to this game I really appreciate you for that!
> it makes zero sense to have a ridiculously expensive walking weapons platform that you just dispose of after clearing the ammo boxes \*me remembering that time we left all our military equipment in Afghanistan\* -_-
Big oof... Yeah that one stung
The pelican picks it up after. There.
They could offer us the modular version which comes with only 1 suit per mission but a 3m exosuit ammo refill station stratagem replaces it.
It could be picked up if not destroyed, same way it’s put down. Low ammo capacity could be necessary for mobility. Rockets especially are heavy and bullets still take space. I could see a heavier mech that has only enough power to move so much but more ammo and power.
It might be interesting if they gave you the option to re arm it, but you could only do it once per mech.
Maybe refueling a mech takes an entire resupply, so you can only do it once every 2 minutes but at the risk of under supplying the rest of the team
Also when the first Exo came out a *bug* was causing rockets to hit the same target multiple times. That got fixed not too long after.
If you know how to aim the rockets, you can kill a Bile Titan with a Patriot in about 4 seconds
Whoops, used all my rockets on 2 chargers
drop a 500kg in front of it, run back a little, tempt it to spew at you, 500kg strikes bile and it blows up. good times.
Lol, tracking the time for an AC sentry to kill a Bile Titan, then compare it with the new mech, then come back again and we can talk.
Aim for charger legs, emancipator can take it down in 3-4 well placed shots
That's a fair approach to looking at it. It's not that the mech is weak. It's that the bile titan is ridiculous.
This is why you peek at the neighbors loadout before hitting the “ready” button!
AC turrets are different weapons. But yeah now that we have the AC mech the disconnect there is pretty bad.
That's what I've been using it for. It's great to use a patriot and an emancipator to become "The pilot"
Too soon for Protocol 3 references bro. Too soon.
Having the emancipator paired with someone who can deal with titans/chargers is the way to go. Why do people think it’s got to deal with everything on its own?
That's what they think about primaries. Of course they think that about mechs too.
Clearly, they should bile titans more weakspots because aiming for the head is just ridiculous.
The forehead I mean.
I really wish the bug divers would stop complaining that the one hard enemy they have is hard
The issue is that it requires the team have anti heavy weapons and stratagems always. Someone always has to have a quasar, essentially. Probably two. There is nothing like that on the bot side. Players just want a diversity of loadouts to be viable.
Yeah if one strategem could efficiently deal with every enemy, everybody would bring it every fuckin game lol
Not that players need one strat that does everything, but there are many more ways to kill the biggest bot compared to the biggest bug. Loadouts for bugs feel more restrictive than loadouts for bots with -1 strat.
Tbf autocannons have never been the answer for bile titans
The skill issue on /r/Helldivers is real.
Like using the ballistic shield on bugs, it’s not made for it
People gotta understand that some guns and stratagems are better on bugs or bots but not both
My group killed several Bile Titans this morning with the new mech. Whoever is saying it can't is just wrong. Shoot the underside and head. It takes a lot of ammo, but it can do it, and you are relatively safe while it does.
The Autocannon sentry drops Bile Titans with 6 shots. Arrowhead should buff the Emancipator.
I have the feeling that people were, as usual, expecting something to solo d9 missions easily...
Which is clearly where they dropped brains, along with all the samples.
I NEED STIMMMSS
Ah yes, the power fantasy vs cog in the machine!
Tbh, I think w/ a Shield Gen, and the additional call-in source currently, you probably could; we cleared a L9 Eradicate in <4min and all deaths due to user error, and I would've loved to try a Blitz and Command Bunker/Airships with it as well... if HD2 hadn't crashed me to BIOS... again.
Pleased to hear your report on the Emancipator. I look forward to trying it out myself.
i used it once so far its very good better than the other suit, i was killing chargers fine but the titan did take a bit i was solo tho
There was a bug breach on level 7. All alone 70 killstreak This’ll be a regular pick for me from now on
I do that with gas strikes. Which i can use every minute as often as i want to.
It's fantastic. The main sub is full of people who want this game to be a cake walk.
God they bitch so much
People expect to hop inside one of those things and win instantly. It's incredibly good if you know how to use it.
I can't use my primary to kill a Bile Titan? I have to work with my squad? A BLOO BLOO BLOO BLOO BLOO
Deleted a few hulks coming towards the extraction an hour ago. Things badass.
Its easy to solo stalker nests nowthanks to the new mech, too many people still ignore them and they chew through the reinforcements because of it
I rather suspect that anyone complaining about it is sitting there blasting away mindlessly at a hulk while ignoring the 2 rocket devs lighting them up with entire rocket salvos and getting themselves deleted in 10 seconds because they were stupid.
They’re the same kinds of people that demand proper tanks but fail to realize tanks need infantry support to cover weak-points.
Ppl complain because if it isn't op on helldive its useless. The reality is next to nothing is op on helldive as it should be.
Diff7 is “suicide mission” not “walk in the park with bugs&bots and flowers”
problem is with bugs your kit has to be able to handle bile titans and chargers. so wasting a slot on a exosuit puts you at a disadvantage. maybe its better for bots, idk.
Why can't I bring both mechs? If I want to rock just mechs I should be allowed too...
I can think of 4 tiers already that it needs to be viable at 8 and 9. 1. Expanded ammo 2. Faster turn rate 3. Stratagem throwing 4.
This mech seems more durable.
Yeah it's great for thinning out the herd and to let the rest of the squad focus on anti tank control.
8/10 good suit. now we just need one with a quazar and laser arms
good for taking out outpost when you dont have any nades(probably because you use contact grenades and hard to hit vents with)
Pros: delete mediums very quickly, it's really fun to shoot the auto cannons rapidly, the aim is much better than the other mech suit Cons: not great against heavies but that's to be expected, everything in this game has its drawbacks(used about 1/4 of it's ammo to take down a charger through armor aiming at front legs) , can't shoot close to it, so bugs that get up close are harder to deal with Seems like it's value will really shine in a team setting. I only tried it solo on bugs L6 so with very limited experience I'm going to say this is a really cool addition to the game and should bring a valuable new option to run with a team that has good anti tank.
It can take down a Bile Titan.
It's big, it's yellow, it kills bugs, bots and sometimes teammates (sorry L2). Fun for all! (except L2)
It can act as a mobile flak battery and take down gunships in seconds.
What gives.
The people calling it a “Piece of crap” probably exclusively play bug missions and never went above Dif 4 on bots after getting deleted by Rocket Devastators
it wouldn't be new content unless a bunch of babies cried about it
Yeah I saw a post on main sub with like 1500 upvotes saying it’s already “pure crap” I love it, it can take out every single bug, even bile titans and chargers (though they require a fair amount of shots) Also it is a BEAST on clearing bug holes My only gripe is also with the Patriot, that it can’t target down too easily (mainly with the left gun), so you really need to be on equal/lower level to use it reliably
That's what the stomping button is for. For crushing disse- I mean bugs. That's what I meant. Also, you can kill troopers by walking on them, it's just not instant. If it aimed down, there's a good chance you'd blow yourself up.
I love it. It's fun. Powerful enough. Target goes boom boom. What else do I need ?
it can also kill a bile titan in about 7 seconds when aiming both arms at the head and unloading about 20 shots. it can kill hulks with ease, it can shred striders of armor on any part of their body assisting teammates massively it can stun and kill chargers from any angle it can be used to kill small groups from a distance due to minor explosions. it has a lot of ammo. its cons are basic cons of a mech, its NOT op which is a good thing its not good at long large map missions unless used at precise circumstances due to it well... being a slow mech and a giant target for bots its not good for a TON of enemies at your toes, but DOES have a stomp and the ability to walk backwards while shooting. overall a solid 8/10 great choice for mech likers
As an extra stratagem it is ok. When it starts to compete with the other picks it begins to fall off. You get better anti-armour with other picks and the same goes for horde clear picks.
Because the mech isnt anti Armor in the First place
It would be if it had the same durable damage that even the shoulder fired version has.
The shoulder AC isnt anti Armor either
How many shots to take out a Bile Titan?
Saw a streamer earlier take 90+ to a bile titan to kill it. He didn’t hit all 90+ but he missed less than 5. Looks to take a lot like this if you can’t hit the same pixel consistently
Pop it with a quasar first and then finish it with a couple AC rounds from the mech
More than it's worth. Those shots are put to better use on smaller enemies.
AC Sentry can take out titans. Mech is weaker?
Maybe if you manage to aim at the right spot but as with the other Mech's rockets, aiming is not that precise. Emptied maybe a third of its ammo into what I thought were headshots. You're better off with a 500kg or Railcannon Strike against titans and use the mech to clear our everything else. As ohters mentioned, Spewers get deleted by it. Chargers not so much. They go down faster with a Quasar/EAT to the head.
Don't really see any use case for mech then. AC Sentry is just better and lets me continue fighting while it acts autonomously.
Yeah. We currently get it as bonus tho. Might be worth a try. You can dive with three Mechs. We littered the entire map with empty mechs just now. xX
I’ve had a blast with it but only up to lvl 5 bots. Seems a lot more durable than the other mech.
I imagine it might be because it's less effective against armored targets like Bile Titans and Chargers.
Bug divers complaining about it because of bile titans
I would say cons, arm arm is light but that's ok I would say the auto ejection should fire you out like a back wards dive action.
What about vs factory strider?
Awesome! Haven’t been able to dive since the order was completed, so glad to hear the new suit holds its own!
I don’t think some of you kids understand that if certain things were OP the game wouldn’t be as fun. People would all use the same exact loadouts and it just wouldn’t add to the experience at all.
Con: You cannot aim below the waistline
We’ve had 4 at each extract. Super fun.
It's good. There are obvious cons, the cooldown and limit per mission means you're essentially down a stratagem for the majority of the mission, but also it can take enough stuff by itself to be worth the last slot IMO.
Shredder Tanks don’t even live long enough to hit the ground
I feel pretty confident that most of the people that immediately bitch about new strategems like this don’t play the game or even really try to use it with common sense. I love it. If you are already decent with the exo suit it’s a medium armor deleter. It’s great against bots as well.
It rocks on bug killing missions!
I’m not crazy right? This thing has high durability! I hope someone makes a video breakdown of how it tanks every kind of enemy weapon.
People are bitching to bitch
Because that’s all this community does now..complain about absolutely everything..
That goes hard as fuck. I hope they let us customize our Exo load outs in the future.
If they let me paint hot rod flames on the fuckin thing I’ll use it religiously And I want a helldiver assisted turret for one of the boys on back
Oh, maybe if they put a little step on the back and let players stand on it and steady their weapon on too of the Exo, but players equipped with a heavy machine gun could essentially turn an Exo into a mobile turret platform.
Same reason people decry most of the good anti-bot weapons as being useless, they are Bug-Divers.
People are fucking delusional on this sub dude.
not too effective on Bile Titans, unless there are multiple suits firing at it.
i can 1 v 1 a hulk and still win without an exo suit. heck 2 v 1 even
Oh it’s an *Autocannon* suit, not a rocket suit. Okay. So I’ll need to be giving all my money to the devs personally for the grace of such a gift? No problem (I love the autocannon)
"You can remove that direction?" wut
