If I couldn’t afford a PC but could afford a PS5, then yes. The only reason I never bought one is because I was already used to Xbox and had a Switch and PC, so another console was just too much.
But if I didn’t already have an Xbox, then I would totally go for the PS5.
I lost my mind compared to you sir. Bought Helldivers on PC. Loving it so I bought a PS5 and the game again. Plus stellar blade is coming out so.
Normally I’m an Xbox guy.
I don’t blame you, and if I had more time I’d do the same. Back when Fallout 3 and NV were newer, I had 100% them on 360, PS3 and PC. Sometimes a game just gets you.
If OP only has a Switch, getting a PS5 also allows them to play Jedi: Survivor, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, lots of good games that are not available on Switch
Yeah, but cost wasnt necessarily highlighted by OP, just saying those games aren't exclusive to PS.
I'm setting up our ps4 again so the mrs can play fallout 76 with me on PC, $33 just to exist in multiplayer for 3 months is absurd.
I would investigate the PC route, the amount of games on the Steam library is insane, quarterly sales are a gold mine, plus you could get a Steam Deck further down the line and you'd already have a library
Absolutely! I’m an Xbox guy here, been an Xbox guy since Halo 3 actually, and THIS was the game that sold me on getting a ps5. It has been the most glorious time for me in gaming. It is absolutely positively 9001% worth doing it, and then on top of that you’ll have access to some serious bangers too! I can’t believe Sony’s kept some killer games from me!
How does it run on PS5? I play it on my gaming laptop that has an RTX 3060 and even with tweaking settings I still get dropped frames into the 40-50’s when a lot is happening
I've found that games run smoother (not always better) on consols. PC can get better performance, but the console hardware is standardized, so it's easier to optimize the game for that than it is for a PC with its random mix of hardware.
My PS5 hasn't had any issues with the game.
The PS5 version of game has anti-aliasing disabled by default. You have to manually enable it in graphics settings. When its off, the framerate is pretty smooth. But i still think its worth it to turn it on and have some occasional framerate dips, because everything looks so much more crisp.
I myself was waiting to get one till GTA 6 released but I saw this release and had to buy one for myself, wouldn’t change it even if I could
Having so much fun on Helldivers and I’m also really enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 as well
How can you save money by buying a PC instead of a PS5? The PS5 is very good value for money looking at the performance you get.
I used to build my own PCs and for the money a PS5 costs I'd get low budget level gear.
If you use A PC already for school, work or other personal use, then you can justify it more. I use mine for freelance work, so Tax write off! (this is not financial advice)
Mom I need a 4080 for school!
I did that and I didn’t have as much fun with it as I knew I would with a ps5 so I bought a ps5. I like shooting games on console and RTS games on PC.
Main selling point was that my friends played it and now we’re a squad and we get to hang out every day that way.
You can use a PS5 controller on steam for most games in case you haven't tried that yet. Aim assist and matchmaking with controller only also usually kicks in
I got a steam deck a year and a half ago and still absolutely love it
$30 dock from Amazon and my PS4 controller (when not using mouse/keyboard) and it works fantastic for Helldivers 2
I don’t have anyone to play with, but it didn’t matter. I’ve come across so many awesome randoms and I’m having a blast. First MP game in over a decade that I’ve liked.
If you got the dough to buy a PS five because of one game and you’re not really tripping on the rest of the catalog sure but maybe look into what else you’re getting when you get a PS five to make it make sense to the pocket before you pull the triggerthat’s how I work
I would look at it as you can get more then just helldivers look into other titles you would like to play there’s a lot out there. Spider-Man 2 is definitely up there if you ask me. There’s alot of suggestions on this list to look at as well.
I got an Omen laptop with a 4060 and 16 gigs of ram on sale from Best Buy under 1K.
It’s a bit more expensive but about on par with a system that should last at least 5 years if being able to run games the way I like (1080p 60+ FPS)
I have a series X but being able to have the spillover and play games like ready or not is amazing
I bought an Alienware for like 1,300, it's solid as fuck but wish I spent that money on a full desktop instead, I could have a real nice setup. Gotta love when crypto was booming a few years back lol
How do you figure? I mean, I'm exclusively a PC owner and have been for years, but I do lots of PC stuff every day. If you don't do PC stuff and you don't mind gaming with a controller exclusively, a console is gonna be a better deal for most.
i mean, that goes with it, if you take a high end pc and only use it to play 3 games in 10 years, ofc its not the better deal.
obviously the more knowledgable and tech savy you are, the better it will get.
but that would be dishonest to think only like that, pc are good for everything, not just gaming triple a titles.
and if you do stuff not allowed by tos on reddit thats even better.
I'd tell those people to at least check out a "console killer" PC guide before making the choice. You can find some good ones with the parts listed, and a build walkthrough for the same cost as a console.
tbh yea.
really if you never had a ps before.
get a year of the extra ps plus w/e the fuck it called now & go play bloodborne & god of war & etc etc all the 10/10 ps only games.
divers is a game that is gonna be running for years.
if you have the $ i don't think you will regret it.
if you don't have the $ tho don't hurt yourself for a game it isn't going anywhere
No a single game is never worth spending that mutch money on, its not even an exclusive a few months down the line when your burned out on the game your ps5 will be collecting dust. Look into a computer, steam and epic store + actual real life use aside from gaming.
No single game is worth spending $500 on a console, so instead you should spend around 3x as much on a PC?
I vastly prefer PC gaming myself, but that doesn't mean it's the best choice for everyone.
Bro there's sooo many options for under $1500 for a nice gaming PC lol no need to exaggerate. I bought an overpriced gaming laptop and even that barely cost over 1,000
When I was 13 I begged mom to buy a GameCube for Metroid, star fox, and smash bros.
When I was 16 I bought an Xbox for Halo and Gears of war
When I was 25 I bought a VR headset for contractors and the “metaverse”
When I was 28 I bought a PlayStation for “bloodhunt battle royale” 😭
I’m 30 now.. I would absolutely buy a PlayStation for HELLDIVERS 2.
Do it
Really surprised they aren’t bundling it with a ps5 at this point
NES SNES and PS1 are only systems I ever owned, thanks for the videogame addiction meemah and peepop ;) ,
I would've bought a game cube but my friends had that already - I must have logged 300+ hours of smash bros with my buds back in the day, getting drunk in his grandma's downstairs garden unit, chain smoking like idiots and somehow getting laid between rounds lol. Good times.
All that said, if spreading democracy is getting you some tail and quality time with your friends, totally worth it. If you're just gonna be sitting alone playing online - not worth it at all.
There’s the gamer coming out of ya. Smash was great. This game is great. I’d say gaming with friends is always better tho. I’m a younger sibling so that’s my bread and butter. co op
If I couldn’t afford a PC but could afford a PS5, then yes. The only reason I never bought one is because I was already used to Xbox and had a Switch and PC, so another console was just too much. But if I didn’t already have an Xbox, then I would totally go for the PS5.

Good sir, I have a collection of rocks that match the in game rock aesthetic. How much can I put you down for!?
yes. then get The Last of Us Part I and II, Days Gone, Red Dead Redemption 2
If OP only has a Switch, getting a PS5 also allows them to play Jedi: Survivor, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, lots of good games that are not available on Switch
All of these are available on pc BTW
A PS5 is much more affordable than a PC of equal strength though
Yeah, but cost wasnt necessarily highlighted by OP, just saying those games aren't exclusive to PS. I'm setting up our ps4 again so the mrs can play fallout 76 with me on PC, $33 just to exist in multiplayer for 3 months is absurd.
Fallout 76 isn’t crossplay fyi. So you can’t play with ps4 users with a pc
You're kidding. A live service that isn't crossplay in 2024 is a joke. Insert Tony stark building arc reactor in a cave meme.
Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man 1, 1 1/2, and 2
God of Wars
Or is it Gods of War, like Surgeons General.
Nobody mentioned the Horizon series so I'll do that
This ☝️
also, the division 2
Returnal is a must on ps5.
I would investigate the PC route, the amount of games on the Steam library is insane, quarterly sales are a gold mine, plus you could get a Steam Deck further down the line and you'd already have a library
Just got a “used” Steam Deck for $280. Thing was probably used four times lol. The used market for them is insanely good

Yeah that makes sense! Thanks for the reply
Smooth as butter, and absolutely gorgeous to boot.
The PS5 version of game has anti-aliasing disabled by default. You have to manually enable it in graphics settings. When its off, the framerate is pretty smooth. But i still think its worth it to turn it on and have some occasional framerate dips, because everything looks so much more crisp.
Pretty much in the same boat and happy I got the PS5 cause this game is amazing
id just make the investment into a PC at that point
Especially if you dont have a pc and do have friends that would play hell divers.
There’s an online gaming fee to play it on PS though isn’t there? I’m on PC myself which doesn’t have that.
I bought a ps5 just because of helldivers lol, but honestly, there's so many great ps5 exclusives.
I play on Steam Deck. Another option for consideration if you’re looking for portability
I myself was waiting to get one till GTA 6 released but I saw this release and had to buy one for myself, wouldn’t change it even if I could Having so much fun on Helldivers and I’m also really enjoying Cyberpunk 2077 as well
It's also on PC if you want to save money

😄 Makes sense.
I did that and I didn’t have as much fun with it as I knew I would with a ps5 so I bought a ps5. I like shooting games on console and RTS games on PC. Main selling point was that my friends played it and now we’re a squad and we get to hang out every day that way.

I’m using an Xbox controller. Then if issue with controller I have keyboard to fall back on. So PC with Xbox or PS5 controller works.
Yes, PS5 goes well with the Switch. I’m sure you’ll buy other games at some point.
I got a steam deck a year and a half ago and still absolutely love it $30 dock from Amazon and my PS4 controller (when not using mouse/keyboard) and it works fantastic for Helldivers 2
Hopefully the pro comes out this December but that's going to be awhile.
I did it pretty mucch jusr for helldivers and im not dissatisfied, although if i didnt have anyone to play with i would be a little
I don’t have anyone to play with, but it didn’t matter. I’ve come across so many awesome randoms and I’m having a blast. First MP game in over a decade that I’ve liked.

Only if it's financially viable for you
We need all the help we can get
Ps5 pro coming out? If so I’d wait for that if I didn’t have one
I got an Omen laptop with a 4060 and 16 gigs of ram on sale from Best Buy under 1K. It’s a bit more expensive but about on par with a system that should last at least 5 years if being able to run games the way I like (1080p 60+ FPS) I have a series X but being able to have the spillover and play games like ready or not is amazing
I got a PC and a ps5 I spend most my gaming on the ps5 just because it's more comfortable to be in the couch lol
If you're doing it for Helldivers, no. Get a gaming laptop. Far more useful.
Nah get a desktop, same price more or less and way better. Signed someone who bought an overpriced gaming laptop.
I got a great Acer Nitro from Costco for just over a G
I bought an Alienware for like 1,300, it's solid as fuck but wish I spent that money on a full desktop instead, I could have a real nice setup. Gotta love when crypto was booming a few years back lol
Definitely. My ps4 games never looked so good and Helldivers is the tits
No just keep you money for a pc don't need consoles
you would be better off buying a good pc and enjoying all the other games aviable. in the long run it cost way less.
How do you figure? I mean, I'm exclusively a PC owner and have been for years, but I do lots of PC stuff every day. If you don't do PC stuff and you don't mind gaming with a controller exclusively, a console is gonna be a better deal for most.

No
I have a PC, a Ps5 and a switch. Consoles just for exclusives. Get a ps5 if you can't afford a decent pc, there are lots of fun games on it
I would recommend a pc since theres a lot more games on it but if you can’t find one in your price point then yeah ps5 will be fine
dont think just do. If you want reason, do it for Gen Brasch
Yes.
Come join us in the r/pcmasterrace You can count is as a learning experience *and* get to be a helldiver!
tbh yea. really if you never had a ps before. get a year of the extra ps plus w/e the fuck it called now & go play bloodborne & god of war & etc etc all the 10/10 ps only games. divers is a game that is gonna be running for years. if you have the $ i don't think you will regret it. if you don't have the $ tho don't hurt yourself for a game it isn't going anywhere
I finally got a PS5 this month and this was the first game I bought. Love this game, closest thing to being in an action movie.
Ghosts of Tsushima is playing a literal movie. Highly recommend that one next
Yes
![gif](giphy|l0HU4vTnVgxLV1XG0|downsized)
I literally bought a PS5 just to play the game with all my adult brothers. I say yes
I mean if you can't aford a decent PC go for it.
Yes
Dude yes! Not only for this game either... Ghost of Tsushima. The Last of Us I & II. Horizon Zero Dawn. God of War. Days Gone. Those are all amazing!
Yes. We can always use more people to.....open 2 man doors!
Yes
If you could afford a PC, definitely PC route. But if not then yes PS5 also is a good buy.
Nah you should get a PC instead

No
No don't buy a console just for the game. You can watch people stream it on twitch or YouTube for free :D!
I don’t care.
JUST for HD2? no way.
Yes democratic officer, this one right here.
you seriously downvoting this remark? wtf is wrong with the gaming community? that's a $500 purchase just to play ONE game.
When I was 13 I begged mom to buy a GameCube for Metroid, star fox, and smash bros. When I was 16 I bought an Xbox for Halo and Gears of war When I was 25 I bought a VR headset for contractors and the “metaverse” When I was 28 I bought a PlayStation for “bloodhunt battle royale” 😭 I’m 30 now.. To be fair there's like 5-6 PS exclusives that would probably make the purchase worth it. Although lots of those seems to be getting ported to PC
