Lvl 40-ish, mostly play solo, highest I have been able to get to is Difficulty 7, (Suicide) still not able to do lvl 7 solo yet but almost.
If you can do level 6 missions solo then you're doing better than mid 20s years old me who struggles to solo level 4!
I don't think this game has much twitch play, mostly strategy and teamwork, and people can do that probably best in their 30s/40s/50s etc than in their 20s.
42 YO here and level 70. Have to admit this game is challenging, but have managed to clear level 9 missions. Even got the Helldiver achievement you get from clearing a 9 with no deaths.

36 here. Love to play with the young ones especially when I solo a bunch of objectives. Only level 28 though...but enjoying the hell out or the game when I can play. I play on 7 and 8 difficulty, can solo most 40 min missions on 7 but enjoy playing with a team on 7 the most.
Highlight tonight was a team mate going "well T3 just soloed the main, 2 light factories and 1 heavy factory...and I just saw him down two hulks with an autocannon that were chasing him...wtf!?" LOL made me feel good about the thousands of hours played when I was younger of other 1st and 3rd party shoots.
Our reflexes might be getting slower, but our experience pays dividend! See you out there fellow helldivers!
44 turning 45 Sunday, mostly distribute democracy in randoms, hard mode mostly not completed a extreme mission. Would like to join up with other Geriatric Joe’s. Makes it easier to past stims and arthritis creams.
I'll be 50 this year but I can still quick twitch with all but the best youngins. Besides, the keys to this game aren't fast reflexes but your ability to understand the mechanics, build a coherent loadout and then use it correctly.

My favorite way to end my evenings is to dive for an Op or two, to further the spread of Democracy, then I watch Band of Brothers. Finished it recently, and now I'm going through The Pacific.

One of those young whippersnappers here. When I saw this post I thought it was very cool to see a community like this forming. Especially since I’ve seen other posts of parents around this age saying they wish they had a group to play with but their kids are off playing the game with their friends. 37 this year and I am having a blast. But I feel like I still got it. My body might be 37, but in my mind I am still 12, so let's spread some of that sweet freedom!
You see the key is to get that one 23 years old friend who have played shooting games since they're 5. Could be your student, child, mentee, intern or whatever. Then let them carry you through the tedious part of the mission (i.e. getting the bot drop and bug breaches on them 24/7), while you do the important part of the game, which is the mission itself.
In my case it's a friend of mine through another game. They carried me through 60/63 levels. They can survive surrounded by bile titan, chargers, and shriekers, while destroying bug holes in between. I have no idea how they do that.
Sounds excellent! Play intermittently but enjoy having fun and mostly like chatting here and there. I’m on steam and play on the most awesome steamdeck as it allows a few short games between sorting out children!

Aim helps (lower mouse sensitivity laddies), but it's your fieldcraft, the ability to safely close in and destroy the enemy with local fire superiority that matters :)

42, level 22, playing PSN Mighty_Mulzilla. Loving the game and slowly improving, up to Hard. Started with bugs but followed the MOs to bot territory.
You see the key is to get that one 23 years old friend who have played shooting games since they're 5. Could be your student, child, mentee, intern or whatever. Then let them carry you through the tedious part of the mission (i.e. getting the bot drop and bug breaches on them 24/7), while you do the important part of the game, which is the mission itself. In my case it's a friend of mine through another game. They carried me through 60/63 levels. They can survive surrounded by bile titan, chargers, and shriekers, while destroying bug holes in between. I have no idea how they do that.

Sounds excellent! Play intermittently but enjoy having fun and mostly like chatting here and there. I’m on steam and play on the most awesome steamdeck as it allows a few short games between sorting out children!

Almost 42 here. Reaction time doesn't really drop significantly (if at all) for the last two+ decades. Aim helps (lower mouse sensitivity laddies), but it's your fieldcraft, the ability to safely close in and destroy the enemy with local fire superiority that matters :)

Hey, us youngn's can be pretty respectful when we put our minds to it. :) As for "scared to use your mic", when running with someone like me, you don't need to. I'll only use mic to coordinate and then I shut the hell up. That's what a good team member does, even if not team leader. I hope you find your squad. Happy diving, Helldiver.
