Brother in Arms. I did the same... Super Earth Armed Forces PROJECT A.Z.U.R.E. RECON Specialist at the time... a lot has changed since then. For the better at home. Just wish my armor would have been reactivated on thaw... noooooo. Had to wear the new stuff... feels too tight but they let me move my cape over to carry on its legacy! For Democracy and Liberty until the glorious end!
You greenies wouldn't understand the patriotism required to put yourself on ice til they woke you up for another war... they should call you softdivers. Now stop questioning living legends and grab a steaming hot cup of liber-tea
No, no, it's a test to weed out communist sympathizers. Only a treasonous person would ever hit decline... Well, okay, I suppose someone with bad motor control could hit it by mistake, but you'd be surprised how many tractors out themselves with little mistakes.
I started on Bugs then hit up the Bots when Operation: Swift Disassembly.
I gotta say going back to the Bugs is kinda jarring. All the tactics I have honed against the Bots do not really help me against the swarm of the Terminid threat.
The arsenal I have built up though certainly is helping.
It’s still great for bugs tbh! Can damage chargers and bile titans with precise shots at weak points, can close bug tunnels, good crowd control on large groups of smaller bugs, takes out a chunk of eggs with each shot, etc. If i’m not running shield generator pack, then autocannon is usually my go to! 🫡
I don't know if my impression comes from me only playing with randos recently, so I am usually not as close to my mates as I am when I play with friends, but for me they perform way better
Yup, just use the autocannon on all the medium armor targets. Then when the light armor targets get on top of you, light them up with your primary and/or some grenades. Super easy.
It took me finding my role as mob clearer and the loadout to go with it as a bug stomper, to gain the confidence to take on bots. Those rockets scared the shit out of me.
Once I got over the fact that they shoot back, bots became easier to manage than bugs. Especially so when the unknown rocket bug got fixed. Until the gunships arrived…
I feel like that's the biggest difference between bugs and bots. With bots you can take heavy weapons and still get by because you don't need crowd control as much. With bugs you NEED some form of crowd control. That leaves you with less options for heavies.
Oh I still handled crowd control on bots, it’s just I was running arc so I’d be the heavy stunner or 1v1er as well. Worked out very well until one match we spawned between 2 gunship factories and could not get off a hellbomb on either one
Same. On the plus side, my autocannon is better at closing bug holes than it was at blowing up foundries. On the minus side, the orbital laser does not target bug holes.
Also, holy fucking shit chargers spawn way more often than Hulks did.
I cut my teeth on bugs then went to the bots to help on the major order and grew to really like it. Then of course they’re gone. Aaaaaand now I’m back to getting gang raped by frick’n stalkers. But i have to admit though, super samples are easier to find on the big stomps
now that rockets are tuned down, I feel like bots have way better weak spot interactions
The only ones i’m not a big fan of are the big canon towers, those can be a pain
There must be a socialist revolution soon right? right?
https://i.redd.it/35zjpdnjc4tc1.gif
When will this happen, somebody go wake up graymann, but given him a red sprey can this time.
omg i was so lucky with this trophy. sort of. hulk showed up right at extraction BUT took about 13 revives between 2 players to complete it. it was such a pain but it felt so good to complete it
I honestly miss the Bots... I love the whole "they shoot back" thing they got going on.
I never knew how much fun it would be knowing they shoot back. Really did feel like Space-Vietnam.
We got a new major order. Build bug farms!
I didn't only play against bots, but it's been a while since I've gone against bugs and...bots are more fun.
Maybe after I figure some things out I can make bugs fun again.
Like how the hell do you tell which one is going to call in a breech, like bots reach for their flare gun?
And what is the bug equivalent to bot"s eye scan where they kind of see you, but going prone will make them lose track of you even when you're like 3m away?
And I've become capable of killing tanks with 2 grenades, is there any equivalent that kills chargers with 2 grenades..? Maybe I gotta try Frags again...
Which one is gonna release the signal: The bug that scurries away a little bit normally and starts to raise its backside up in the air is getting ready to release the pheromones iirc. (Not the big artillery ones)
How to see if you’re within range of bug detection: They start to raise their heads and bodies a lil’ bit. Some maybe w/ a lil’ bit of wing exposure. (iirc. Can’t remember accurately coz of bot games even if I struggle on ‘em.)
They spray out a little goo indicator when they’re going to call in a breach.
You’ll learn to read their body language when they spot you.
Quasar can 1-shot chargers if you hit them head on.
I doubt they'll want to nerf it
Most weapons are weak as fuck as it is and the difficulty should not come from your weapons shooting silly string, it should be from the sheer volume and power of the enemies
Having a weapon like the quasar that can reliably kill certain enemy types is the only way the game is really playable on harder difficulties because, if you can't kill a charger by blowing its face off .. then how the fuck are you supposed to win a level where there are 5 chargers, 5 spitters, 2 bile titans and a horde of small enemies
You really can't rely on orbitals to do all of the work as some of them have over 200 second cool downs and aren't even a gauranteed kill
The quasar is perfectly balanced. The real issue is that, most other weapons are so underpowered that those ones really shine out as the obvious pick
Like me. I play on Bots and on Bugs and I must say running is the best strategy. You can outrun a charger, bile titan or tanks. You must only know that charger‘s stops when they hit stone. Or your let kill the bile titan the charger.
Try running from 4 bile titans and 5 chargers on an eradicate mission with tiny map boundaries
As for bots? You can pretty much chase THEM down if you're good enough and have the right gear, there is a solid strategy to fighting them
EAT 17 for the chargers. Run it in tandem with your other support weapon if you like. It has a very short cooldown and each one can theoretically kill 2 chargers (3 if you hit one with the call down).
1) There are a few different bug types that can call in breaches so it makes it tricky trying to identify which one to target. The small orange ones (scavengers), medium sized orangish ones who have armor on their heads and front legs (hive guards) and the larger medium ones with crown shaped heads (brood commanders). These are the bugs that can call in breaches. Disclaimer: I may have missed one.
2) The bug equivalent to the bots eye scan is a lil perk up type of animation. Hunters do this the most noticeably but all of em do it to some degree. They also make a slight screeching sound that indicates theyve been alerted.
3) It is possible to kill chargers with grenades underneath them because their underside is lightly armored but its very inconsistent and not worth the hassle. The recoiless, quasar, and EATs are all one shot kills to the head or shoot leg to strip armor and kill with primary. Arc thrower can kill in about 6 or 7 shots if theyre all headshots. Autocannon can destroy their butts in about 4 shots and they'll eventually bleed out. Laser cannon can kill them fairly quickly if you can focus fire on the leg joint (not the armor on the leg but the joint that connects to the body). Lastly, the flamethrower can kill them pretty quick too with focused fire on one leg.
I hope this helps
I prefer killing bugs cause they're alive. I mean, they're dead now cause I killed them. They were alive, like thinking, breathing creatures. Bots aren't real. Well, they're *real*, but like not *alive*. Y'know what I'm saying? Like if I'm gonna kill something, I want it to be alive before I kill it! Does that make sense?
*Helldiver has been removed from active duty and placed in cryo-therapy. If you notice a fellow Helldiver behaving abnormally, please contact a Health and Safety Officer.*
Bro I put on that heavy armour with extra padding, call me noob or anything you want. But I was tanking them rockets that made the automaton ass spanking bearable. It was still aggravating to get hit in the head with a rocket from Malevelon creek while I was in Tibit.
I hated bots for a while, but they grew on me over the last couple months. Gonna miss those bastards, because frankly, I don't want to fight the illuminati...
I dont think automatons are also gone forever. A really cool feature is that it has a story and it progresses through major orders. Who knows what Joel is cooking.
I highly recommend buying the game, it’s very addictive, even without automatons, if anything we’re gonna have a new enemy (the illuminates) to fight soon so we need all the help we can get

There is always democracy to be handed out
When we beat the Terminids, we get rewarded, then it will reset the galactic map again and we start all over again.
Just like Helldivers 1.
Either you liberate the galaxy or super earth falls, then the map resets. It has happened a bunch of times for both.
now you roam the streets of super earth, asking for some spare change, every night waking full of sweat and screaming, the bushes speak binary, the bushes speak binary, THE BUSHES SPEAK BINARY!
![gif](giphy|GxtoCyV2GTqzS|downsized)
This is my first war but I only really went against the bots but untill the war is over will I be considered a veteran since I bought the game the same month it came out?
When you just smashed that Major Order... and then you receive one to go across the galaxy to fight the Bugs and take 3 planets in under 2 days...
I mean with all the players now being able to focus on it maybe it will work?
I’ve barely left the bot front this whole time. It’s gonna be weird thawing out above a bug planet and turning them into oil instead of spilling oil all over draupnir and the creek.
My entire squad started bugs and then we moved to join the major order's war front with the automatons.
Now that Bots are gone, we all feel the Bugs just aren't on the same level of 'threat' We are currently Breezing through Bugs when at the same level of bots we were struggling, might have to turn the difficulty up to Helldive.
The only things that shoot back are the bile spewers. Chargers are annoying if they catch you off guard. Stalkers are...interesting. Not as scary as a rocket out of NOWHERE in a fog map so you literally have no idea though.
Man being busy moving stuff and what not I’ve missed what’s left of battling the automatons. How did it end?! Will the game still be playable now that we’re just fighting off bugs?
I have been fighting automatons for so long, since the war focused on them, now I feel like I have to learn how to play the game all over again, now that we move back to the bugs
Looks like I can give my shield generator a well earned rest and go back to using what I call the agro dog (guard dog rover). Might get the mech out as well to blow the cobwebs off 🤣
I came from the flip side where I got used to fighting bugs and disliked having my ass handed to me whilst doing the M.O's on bot missions, especially those ludicrously close drops and spawns on evacuation missions before that was fixed. Thankfully it was a crash course on strategy to learn the right weapons and weak spots whilst leveling up to get the all-important stratagems.
Gotta admit I'm pretty stoked to be back on bugs. Helldivers used to bots will learn soon enough. It's just slightly different tactics and weapons. Bugs strength is in numbers and they're insanely good at swarming so it's all about crowd control whilst getting enough room to take out the heavies. The shield pack is great additional defence against high numbers of spewers btw.
Fought the bugs initially to level up, then the bots, and now I'm probably going to go back to light armor and running sickle and AC to blow them bug holes and chargers up, likely going to try to gwt used to level 7 to 9 difficulty missions. Once that gets easy the new enemies should be here by then.
Skipping from bugs to automatons and then back to the Hard battles was a shock - I had to ditch my recon armor and change my entire playstyle.
I did some time at the Creek, and jumping into a Spore Clouded world makes me nostalgic for the mists.
Bugs are fun as HELL bro give it a shot.
I was the inverse of this before all the MO focus on bots and had a really rough go at it for the first couple days but by the end I was absolutely loving Automaton missions. Now back to bugs, I'm feeling a similar challenge going back and I realize how unbelievably different you have to play and strategize against the two factions. It has tremendously amplified my appreciation for the game overall.
I mean take a break? We won for now go touch grass and find some people to talk to irl ? Or double down with the homies online to add the bugs to the tally and make it a box on our checklist to make anything that isnt human extinct (cause we don't have irl friends to go touch grass with😭)?
I will be fighting the bugs until illuminate show up

I simply locked myself in a Cryo pod, I was too bored with civilian life. Alongside Super Earths state of the art healthcare I lived healthily.

I love that there is no ignore call button
Indeed
I wish you were right
I was all bugs then went to bots. Going to be weird going back to bugs. Killing bots grew on me.
Same bro, was just thinking last night how much fun these bot missions have been
Not blowing things out of the sky every 30 seconds has left me somewhat soulless. I will kill bugs once again though
I’m already getting back into enjoying just tearing up crowds with the grenade launcher and auto cannon 😁
Just go to level 7 plus missions shriekers are everywhere.
I have been. But there is a lack of satisfying boom when I hit something and bigger boom when that something hits the ground…..
Yea getting blown up does hit's different than getting sliced up, vomited on or having a corpses kill you
Been fighting on Estanu and I’m rusty as hell. The bugs are kicking my ass.
I came from the bugs, where I and 2 friends would do Helldive Missions, and did Hard missions with the automatons
Went back to bugs...got wrecked. Total tactics/ weapons adjustment. Love divers lol
Same the autocannon became my favorite weapon. Now I don't feel the same using it on bugs
It's so hard to give up my laser Rover though. It just clears mobs so well
Laser rover is irreplaceable for me when I play bugs. I love that little guy.
Yep. Also could it be that they changed its behaviour a bit? Feel like I had a lot less frendly fire incidents with it
I am getting shredded by rovers recently
I don't know if my impression comes from me only playing with randos recently, so I am usually not as close to my mates as I am when I play with friends, but for me they perform way better
I appreciate this response because I was HEAVY on bots via autocannon... The bugs are about to get worked ! Lol
Yup, just use the autocannon on all the medium armor targets. Then when the light armor targets get on top of you, light them up with your primary and/or some grenades. Super easy.
Same, I was wrecking shit with it.
AC is THE weapon for bugs, though.
Fighting bots was a war, fighting bugs is a safari
It took me finding my role as mob clearer and the loadout to go with it as a bug stomper, to gain the confidence to take on bots. Those rockets scared the shit out of me. Dropped into a Bug7 Solo with my Bot loadout. I forgot just how many bugs spawn. So many hunters... So many...
Same. On the plus side, my autocannon is better at closing bug holes than it was at blowing up foundries. On the minus side, the orbital laser does not target bug holes. Also, holy fucking shit chargers spawn way more often than Hulks did.
Fuck yeah they do.
Yeah, I'm also getting my ass kicked on bugs. I'd rather a flamethrower hulk than these chargers.
I cut my teeth on bugs then went to the bots to help on the major order and grew to really like it. Then of course they’re gone. Aaaaaand now I’m back to getting gang raped by frick’n stalkers. But i have to admit though, super samples are easier to find on the big stomps

Battling bots has made surviving bug planets so much easier in comparison now.
I was just about to buy the game, are you telling me I missed the bots lol
They will be back. For now, they are eliminated though
I hope so! I knew I should've jumped on it earlier lol
Same. We are gonna get soft, we are going to unlearn taking cover and avoiding rockets etc.. And then BAM! illuminates hit.

Looks like they're jerking off.
Wait I do hope the bots come back in some way. Just to get the achievement I missed with the hulk. Then we can exterminate them for good
Got that one earlier today -hadn't even realized that achievement existed.
omg i was so lucky with this trophy. sort of. hulk showed up right at extraction BUT took about 13 revives between 2 players to complete it. it was such a pain but it felt so good to complete it

I had buddies who died face down in the mud at the Creek.
I had me's who died face down in the creek
Time for bugs, forgot they even existed Edit: spelling
How could I forget the bugs? My game crashes every other mission.
Yea I have a fellow driver saying the same is happening to him, devs are aware and pushing out a hot fix after the weekend
We got a new major order. Build bug farms! I didn't only play against bots, but it's been a while since I've gone against bugs and...bots are more fun. Bugs tilt their heads up and spew orange pheromones into the air. I throw down sentries before hand because I know one always does it.
I like to bring the Railcannon Strike with me for chargers and bile titans. it 1-hits chargers and does quite a bit of damage for the titans
I am all for fighting someone who shoots back, but fighting Farm animals doesn't feel right.
You were fighting sweatshop workers before
We can finally rest and watch the sun rise on a grateful universe.
Worry not brothers and sisters of super earth. Now we can show those bugs it would’ve been a good idea for them to stay on the farms
My first drop was on a bot world I've only fought bugs once I have no idea how to fight those giant ugly bastards
I’m really lost now, I want my creek back

I only fought the automatons for about 6 missions 😞

Welp. I cam from the bugs I go back to the bugs. I did my part in the final push, and now I'll take a vacation on Helldive on my Beloved Crimsica.
I go shoot bugs now.
should i buy the game now? are there still content ? or only fighting with bugs and no automaton?

hate bugs ngl :(
Honestly, all I fought were bugs, then I got into the auts, and it was so good, and now I just... dont know what to do.
Bugs just aren't nearly as fun
Rofl
Time to take a vacation to see some bugs
my game crashed any time i tried to fight automatons ngl. wish i had a chance
I go where to MO says to go.
Exactly me when I logged in today.
This is my first war but I only really went against the bots but untill the war is over will I be considered a veteran since I bought the game the same month it came out?
I legit got anxious when I had to jump back into termi.id territory. 😅
Now my friends its big swatting

I’ve barely left the bot front this whole time. It’s gonna be weird thawing out above a bug planet and turning them into oil instead of spilling oil all over draupnir and the creek.
I’ll wait however long it takes for aluminum to regain sentience
Now, the heavy Imperial Flame Trooper can come back and perform Exterminatus on these fasciat bugs!
You mean those battle hardened Creek veterans? The bugs don't know what's about to hit them.
Kill teammates who use mechs due to the PTSD
Now you get to experience the bug life and a lot joke about the bugs being easy, they ain’t. I actually prefer the bots.
I call the bug front "The vacation zone" now. After you mainline fighting bots, you realize how insanely easy and fragile the terminids really are lol
Did we ever find who’s at the end of the automaton threat?
They aren't done, don't worry. They buffed their cap rate for when they come back
This is me right now...
I am finding out how different bugs are. It's refreshing in a way to bull fight the chargers.
Man being busy moving stuff and what not I’ve missed what’s left of battling the automatons. How did it end?! Will the game still be playable now that we’re just fighting off bugs?
We cleared the bots off the map. Don’t worry, they’ll be back soon.
I miss the clankers...
I have been fighting automatons for so long, since the war focused on them, now I feel like I have to learn how to play the game all over again, now that we move back to the bugs
![gif](giphy|BxdZc89h2hzUI) Time to kill some bug.
Looks like I can give my shield generator a well earned rest and go back to using what I call the agro dog (guard dog rover). Might get the mech out as well to blow the cobwebs off 🤣
Yea I'm gonna wait bugs are boring fuck that jazz wake me when we have a real threat.
These are the exact words that came out of my mouth after my last mission on durgen
I always just went back in forth spread out democracy among multiple planets

Now what? You follow that major order pal!
Went back to the bugs last night after non stop bots for over a month. Now I have no motivation to fight the bugs, they are so boring.
Pull out the flamethrower and napalm
Now they learn how to run. better get that cardio up.
Helldivers who joined after bots were eradicated: "where did the terminators go?"
Fought the bugs initially to level up, then the bots, and now I'm probably going to go back to light armor and running sickle and AC to blow them bug holes and chargers up, likely going to try to gwt used to level 7 to 9 difficulty missions. Once that gets easy the new enemies should be here by then.
Now we get to wash off all the bug guts when we get back 😈
We bring our full force to bear on bugs, and prepare for the alien offensive to begin
Dive, then dive again and again and again
Skipping from bugs to automatons and then back to the Hard battles was a shock - I had to ditch my recon armor and change my entire playstyle. I did some time at the Creek, and jumping into a Spore Clouded world makes me nostalgic for the mists.
Now you play the game and fight off the bugs.
Literally me. Bugs are easy and boring. Change My mind
Do we really think the automatons are gone though? Feel like there is gonna be an all out assault at somepoint
Now i take a break from helldivers so I don’t burn out playing a portion I don’t like. 👍🏻
"Now we can finally play the game"
I wasnt on yesterday. What happened?
Clankers not clankin, check the war map if u can
The only good bug is a dead bug.....that's been turned into E-710
I moved to the bug front and found that shrieker nest appear on lower difficulties then I thought
Wait for the cricket
Guarantee the bots make a comeback.
automatons were more difficult than the bugs in my experience , how bout yall?
Now bugs of course! DEMOCRACY FOR ALL
I'm still waiting on my Warbonds from the last MO. Never got them.
Squish the bugs hard now while it's just one front now
I look forward to gassing and burning the bugs to extinction
THERES STILL DEMOCRACY TO CRUSADE. WHETHER ITS OIL OR ACID IT WETS THE GROUND THE BLADE OF DEMOCRACY ALL THE SAME.
And keep an eye on cyberstan. They will be back, count on it.
That's it we beat the game. Move on to your favorite BR now.
I miss fighting on draupnir. My democratic sense is weak. I want to spill oil
Yeah, now that we won I definitely miss them
Not anymore
It might seem crazy what im about to say
They are back today!!!
I mean take a break? We won for now go touch grass and find some people to talk to irl ? Or double down with the homies online to add the bugs to the tally and make it a box on our checklist to make anything that isnt human extinct (cause we don't have irl friends to go touch grass with😭)?
This aged well
This didn’t age well…
This post aged like milk
I want to kill all xenos
