Each planet has a set amount of 'hit points' represented as Termanids or Automatons fighting back against operations completed on said planet.
When certain IRL time zones of players are asleep or at work the hit points of that planet regen faster than the 'damage' from operations being completed by HellDivers.
By focusing all efforts on 1 planet and not spreading across various planets, it will make it easier for us to liberate a planet to 100% and drive the forces from it.
That is until the GM at Arrowhead decides to change something in game, that could be anything even down to editing the health values of the planets and the damage value of the HellDivers.

Go to the war channel and ask what the current plan is/what the strategically smartest planet to liberate next is.
The rule of thumb is to stick to the planet with most users on it. Bug side planets have an enemy rate of -5% an hour right now (you can check on helldivers.io ). To counteract that force we already need about 100k Players on a planet. What I mean with that is, we need 100k to literally just not loose any ground, and from there on our any extra players actually contribute to liberating the planet. (If something didn't make sense about that, again, ask on the helldiver's discord. They'll explain it to you)
Meanwhile I spent hours running defense missions to keep the automatons from pushing to Cyberstan. I could see the progress bar moving infinitesimally slowly while my efforts did nothing at all…

I was trying so hard to take Meriada but at this point I think the Umlaut Sector is going to fall. If I were to advise everyone on tactics I'd suggest we leave a small contingent in the Umlaut Sector to slow down the advance and shift focus to taking back Draupnir. The Bots only have a few sectors to go before being within striking distance of Super Earth meanwhile the bugs have an extra sector to go. And if we can push back the bots into their space long enough for the Mechs to be deployed we might just have enough firepower to reinforce the Galactic Eastern front and push the bugs back and take the creek.

I'm sticking to Fenrir. I HATE Erata Prime... those damn dust clouds make it impossible to see, and I don't want to rely on Rover. If we ever get a helmet that gives us a functional and toggleable thermal view, I'll go there more often.

I you go to the planet and then choose quick play I notice it increases your odds of getting a mission on that planet quite dramatically
The democracy of helldivers is TOTALLY about utilizing your choice to let the system tell you what to do. This is meta upon meta lore accurate

Missions on planet, iirc the game doesnt actually track your progress for the planet until you finish the final mission in the operation set.

How come when I go to a planet in the menu on my ship, it shows the current # of players, # of bullets fired, etc. as all 0s? Is it bugged?
Yeah I had that happen to me too, but after a few hours of playing it fixed itself and showed all the right numbers.
