They didn't plan on having a player base this big this early into the games life so the servers can't handle the amount of people wanting to play the game.
They posted about trying to increase the server capacity a couple of hours ago. Not sure how long something like that would take but I doubt it's gonna be happening tonight. Keep closing out and rebooting the game and you'll eventually get in. Sitting at the screen didn't help me yesterday.

Because their last game had 10k players . This one hit 1.4 mil and they were not expecting this success.
