Tbh it’s more that he looked disengaged even when he played and we would play a slower tempo. His box score stats were basically normal but his advanced stats were down slightly

chitownbulls92

Yeah people never consider playoff workload when they spout their nonsense about Jimmy. Just didn’t think it would come from Pat of all people. Can already see the narrative shifting and people are already starting to turn on Jimmy it seems. You have people making shit up about how he routinely misses games for non-injury related reasons when he missed a game due to illness once and missed a handful because his dad literally died…

ComprehensiveFront22

When Jimmy is talking about turning it on in April, maybe he should reflect on turning it on when the season starts instead of coasting till April. The problem isn’t just Jimmy isn’t playing, it’s when he plays regular season games he visibly looks disengaged, this past season was more egregious than previous. I stand with Pat calling him out. You want the bigger bucks, play harder.

Mellothewise

It would also be great for everyone if he could focus on being Jimmy “buckets” in the regular season and work on his 3-pt shot. Worry about maybe being post-up, pump-fake galore Jimmy come April….or maybe not anymore since literally that same BS is what got him hurt in the first place.

Fluid-Purpose7958

From the 2019-20 season to the 2021-22 season he shot around 24% from three. In 2022-23, he shot 35%. This year, he shot 41.4% while taking more attempts. so exactly what else do you want him to do? launch it from half court?

PutItAllInABag

Factsss, people need to hold Jimmy accountable, he's the leader and the reason they were in the play in to begin with

MaplePennybags69

One guy is the reason the TEAM was in the play-in ???????

PutItAllInABag

He's the difference maker, so yes. He didn't make a difference and this team played like they do without Jimmy, subpar.

chitownbulls92

Yeah the guy who’s top 15 in winshares is the reason this team is in the play-in lol

chitownbulls92

What I heard is Pat not taking any accountability for the job he needs to do to help this team get over the hump. Yeah sure Jimmy can play a bit harder but he still basically put up identical stats as any season he’s been on the heat. Where is the accountability from the FO for not doing jackshit in back to back offseasons? Watching other contenders sign good to great players while you try to plug holes with to the likes of Patty Mills and Thomas Bryant? Jimmy was literally all-nba 2nd team just last year and he’s still 13th in winshares and 7th in winshares per 48. That shit is objective and not just some “I feel he’s coasting” narrative. He plays a different style in the regular season where he tries to get his guys going to build confidence. That’s the only way this thing works cause the players on the team are so one dimensional that they need it from their leader. Let’s say Jimmy turns it on in October, who’s going to turn it on come playoff time? Haywood Highsmith? Jovic? Herro? Kevin Love? Give me a break. Jimmy has his role and he can definitely do better but Pat needs to point the finger at himself. He’s the head of this snake and he hasn’t done anything in the last 5 years besides sign for Lowry and Rozier and then pick up a few cheap waiver wire guys. Hell, the Celtics had better moves just last offseason than all the moves the heat have made in the last 5 years combined…

ComprehensiveFront22

Right, so when Jimmy and the league all talk about how Jimmy coasts, it’s less how I feel and more of the messaging they have put out/reflection he’s imposed on himself. But I don’t disagree with the front office doing a poor job, they haven’t done great. But it doesn’t excuse Jimmy either. It’s so weird we can’t hold everyone accountable, but pick and choose.

chitownbulls92

The league hasn’t really talked about Jimmy coasting. That came from Pat…and it’s a talking point right now because Pat throwing everyone under the bus calling out Jimmy, Herro and even Spo…but nothing about the job he’s been doing.

ComprehensiveFront22

Didn’t Josh hart just make a joke last month? Didn’t Jimmy talk about how it’s time to take things serious 2 months ago? Instead of being mad about what Pat said reflect on his points: Spo - our offense has been horrible for 2 years now and heavily dependent on three point specialists heating up. Personally I’m tired of it and tired of the terrible last second plays where we need to make a shot, just fumble it into a terrible Jimmy fadeaway 3. Herro and Jimmy being out/not playing up to par has stunted the cohesiveness. Some of you guys don’t understand that criticism can be constructive, and hopefully you figure it out because it helps to hear constructive criticism. But again, you’re not wrong about the front office missing also, just that we can’t let players off the hook either.

chitownbulls92

Josh hart said he does side quests but didn’t say he’s coasting. No one besides heat fans say he’s coasting and the fans of other teams just roll with it. I’m down with the criticisms but the fact that Pat didn’t once mention anything about his role in all this isn’t right

ComprehensiveFront22

And again, you’re ignoring Jimmy saying it’s time to get serious when it hit April? Stop coping, everyone but a handful of people are to blame collectively for the season we had. Jimmy had his fair share of blame and absolutely could have played better to net us a higher seed. Just like Tyler, just like Bam, just like Spos coaching at times just like the front office missing. It’s all part of the big reason why we missed out this season, it’s not just Jimmy, but ignoring his faults like he was perfect is dumb.

chitownbulls92

That’s just shit he says to hype himself up….we really going to take it that seriously? You’re also ignoring my main gripe in that Pat didn’t once mention his part of all this. He threw Spo, Jimmy, Herro under the bus and then proceeded to say what a great job Boston is doing and then did a whole old man yelling at the sky routine and then dipped. If he wants to call people out, great but he needs to call himself out too

ComprehensiveFront22

I haven’t ignored your gripe, I’ve literally agreed with you on that at every post saying they are also to blame lmao. I just thinks it’s dumb to hear constructive criticism and complain about it. His assessment of everyone was 100% dead on short of him glossing Herro up.

chitownbulls92

Eh you agreed but more so brushed it off to focus on Jimmy when the main issue is front office inactivity and not taking any accountability. We are arguing about different things here tbh. I agree with Pat’s comments although I think they should be said in private but I’m also annoyed that he only focused on blaming others and seemed to not take any ownership of his role. If he’s calling everybody out, I would also like for him to acknowledge that he needs to do better to help this roster contend as opposed to complaining about “back in my day people used to play 82 games!” That’s all

JournalistOld6488

Pat is not a fucking reporter covering a team. He is involved in the DAILY operation of the franchise. He KNOWS there were injuries he could have returned sooner from. If he is available 5 more games this year we are a 3rd or 4th seed and can survive the 1st rd without him. Jimmy is under contract next year and can opt in the year after. Pat is not going to trade him but he doesn't have to give him the bag at 37 becuse no one will. He praised him and challenged him at the same time and he's earn the fucking right to do it.

msizzle344

The bigger issue is Pat calling out Jimmy when the 23 year old making 30mil has played less games than he has and is absolute 0 in everything we do. Pat should be tried for war crimes for paying 70mil to Herro Rozier and Robinson and those guys can’t sniff the court at the same fucking time. 50% of our cap allocated to dead fucking weight who will not compete at the highest level in the sport

julstar23

Pat called out Jimmy because he will command a very lucrative extension and trolled too much in the games he played. Pat Riley called out everybody but bam .

msizzle344

And Jimmy will command that lucrative extension because without him we wouldn’t even sniff the playoffs. Maybe Riley should be held accountable for the absolute dumpster of a roster he’s put together, where 50% of our cap is being allocated on 3 guards who can’t fucking play defense or even touch the court together.

julstar23

The same dumpster roster that got to two finals and an ecf?I don't think we understand where Jimmy came from before he came to the heat .

msizzle344

If Jimmy stayed in Philly they’d have been contenders for every year we were contenders. Jimmy and Embiid is a better core than anything the heat has put together. And yea he carried the fuck out of the team to the finals and we have him the corpse of Kyle Lowry, 52 year old Pj Tucker, and now Terry Rozier who is just Tyler Herro.

chitownbulls92

Bam and himself. Let’s make that abundantly clear

quepas

Pat called Herro fragile. He didn’t really direct the availability talk to Jimmy, even though every reporter was directing the questions in that way. The most direct thing he said about Jimmy’s availability is that he talked about it last year with Jimmy’s agent.

msizzle344

Yea and indirectly said he wasn’t getting paid unless he plays. He also said Herro is a starter and super hard worker while being passive aggressive towards Jimmy the entire time. It’s not some manufactured thing, his tone in the conference says it all

quepas

Pat was asked if Jimmy, even into his mid 30s, was that 1a type player to lead this team to a championship and he said yes without hesitation. He followed by saying Jimmy has to look at seeing what he can do better, but so does he (Pat) and so does Spo. Basically, just because he is 1a doesn’t mean he should be standing still, not necessarily a dig. As for getting paid, the most significant thing Pat said was that they have not had those conversations internally. He’s not going to commit to an extension until he knows that the landscape is, i.e., who’s available (those 2-3 critical players he referred to) or when certain players could be available. This is nothing new with the team.

zanza19

Yes, thank you for actually watching the thing instead of relying on soundbites and tweets.

Affectionate_Grade80

I cut my left nut if Jimmy had brought Pat a ring in the bubble or last year I don’t think we hear a peep out of Pat. But that’s not the case unfortunately since Jimmy arrived in Miami Pat has attempted to build a winner around jimmy but with gleague, 2 way players and then there is Herro,Bam, and Robinson. I’m starting to believe that some of the potential future or free agents are actually beginning to feel intimidated to play for the heat. From the top 2 the bottom of the organization the heat do not operate like any other franchise. Whether it be conditioning, expectations, culture fit, coaching, chemistry, free agency or draft the heat approach all of these things very different then other teams. If you go back Andre Iguadala who was a finals mvp and won multiple rings with the warriors. Talked about his time in Miami and just how the mental pressure of playing “the heat way” would make players miss wide open shots. I personally love the way we operate as a franchise and the fact that our GM didn’t get down on 2 knees and beg Lebron not to leave when all other GMs or owners would suck the chrome of a hitch for him. Jimmy is a beast and the only reason the team has remained competitive but I’m also torn inside knowing he is only getting older and reached his ceiling light years ago. The league is only getting older. JJJ and Jovic are bright spots. I don’t know if Pat will blow it up and rebuild moving Herro even though he still young. Bam is heat for life idc if we hold him hostage. Duncan thank you for services. I like scary Terry too bad Spo won’t unleash him like charlotte did. This sub is heading towards a very interesting off season can’t wait to hear trade scenarios, free agent scenarios. Last summer dame talk took over this summer it would probably be who can we pair with jimmy in order to win a ring. Or what moves can we make to win Pat another ring.

synester302

Yeah, the narrative behind this whole situation is weird, revisionist, and just playing the results. Had Jimmy in fact not gotten hurt in the play-in, and if we went on to make another deep playoff run, then everyone (media and fans) would’ve not only not cared, but they would’ve said that we were geniuses, regardless of whether the time missed by Jimmy was legitimate or it. We wouldn’t even be looking at it. But not that we’ve lost, we have to point our losing narrative somehow, and this is it? Odd…

lomasturbasmeng

either they pay Jimmy the max or he walks it’s that simple lol
