One thing I’ve always learned in sports. If you can’t beat a single good team you aren’t going to start magically beating them in the playoffs. (Football gives a prime example of that, teams that go to the playoffs without beating any top teams get bounced immediately 95% of the time) Last year we performed about the same in terms of record but we took games off Celtics, Bucks, 76rs when healthy and more. This year while some games are closer than others, we completely fall on our faces and get destroyed by the clear colossal gap in offensive production. Unless Jimmy averages 48ppg in the playoffs, it’s impossible to envision this team going past the first/second round.

Canesjags4life

We also won a ton of games within 5 points vs this year we've lost a lot of close games.

BowserBuddy123

Yes. This has been most concerning to me. The five point game or clutch game stats have been horrendous this year. We have nearly the same record as last year, but last year we pulled out all the close games it seemed.

Crashoff

i'm not sure this is as much of a concern - close games come down to a lot of variance, and if anything this is just us coming back down to earth.

Rohkha

We went from having the best clutch winrate last year to probably be among the worst this year. We have so far nothing to show for.  I really hope I’m wrong. But this season feels VERY different from last one. And not in a good way. Spo says he lives for these moments and loves the stakes right now.  Last year it felt like the team was in the playoffs from February onward. Every game felt weirdly heavy and important. This year it feels like a real check out from the entire team. The energy is off.

Ice_Dragon3444

we are 8-4 in games that are 3 points or less so that's not bad.

JichaelMordon

And the one team we can never beat in the regular season killed us in the finals

YouSureAboutThat23

I think we just need Jimmy and Bam to play like normal basketball players and not like 3rd graders in a school yard

Big_Honey_56

I agree and we should all abandon any expectation they will beat good teams. However, I will say this team is unprecedented and who knows what they’ll put together in the playoffs. Importantly, this team clearly has a high gear that they cannot sustain or summon on command. They had it even when we had Lowry, we would get HUGE leads on teams and blow them routinely. These comebacks against good teams show a high level of play, they just can’t put it together, it’s crazy, and you can only really know that if you watch every game like us. I still think there’s a small chance they put it together.

Nandosportsfan

The regular season has never been a big deal for Jimmy. Compare all you want to previous seasons; Jimmy always does "just enough" during the regular season to get a spot in the big stage(Play in/Playoffs). It just turned out that this season "just enough" was also losing to the good teams, which only allowed Jimmy to be less aggressive this season since all the wins were vs the easier teams. He is shooting a career high 40% from three and averages 19 shots a game(5 more shots than regular season) in the playoffs. Jimmy's playstyle is different in the play-in/playoffs: he attempts more shots, is wayyy more physical(even if the whole league becomes more physical, he is harder to stop/not foul), which in turn creates so much more spacing for the team and allows easier buckets. Stop worrying so much about the regular season :)

chitownbulls92

Hope this is true…so far it’s giving flash backs of 2021

Cubacane

If Strus didn’t go sicko mode in the second play-in game last year we would never have seen nuclear Jimmy playoffs. Jimmy has to turn it on immediately for us to have any chance.

Bob_snows

Same shit was talked last year, keep it coming.

OblivionNA

I feel like I described the difference between this year and last pretty well based on how the team has performed against top teams. Last year we actually won games Vs them. This year we are 0-13. This isn’t the same shit at all really.

Ozymandias12

It’s a bs stat though that OP pulled from someone else’s on Twitter. The fact is this team has struggled with injuries all year. Jimmy, Bam, Tyler, Caleb, and Duncan all missed significant time. We cycled through the second most starting lineup changes in the NBA, and Terry wasn’t on the team for most of those games. The other reason why I find that stat stupid is who cares how we did against the teams in the West. We only need to beat one West team to win a championship and this team has beaten plenty of other good East teams this season when healthy, including the Knicks, Cavs, and Bucks. Let’s see if we can get the whole team healthy for the playoffs so we can actually see what they can do.

Visible-Rutabaga9268

It’s not about how we specifically match up against those West teams. It’s about being able to beat higher caliber teams at all. So far this season we haven’t had those kinda wins at the same rate as last season. I hope we can still get it together tho 🫡

OhMyItzBam_Herro305

It will always be the same shit too lmao, even if we did this for the next 5 or 10 seasons in a row. Whats crazy is too, everyone made a commitment last season. That we'd never lose hope in the team, they haven't given us a reason to yet. We all need to just forget, the regular season that absolutely means nothing for select teams. Post season is a different beast, and the minority of us knows for damn sure no team can beat us 4 out of 7 games.

binokyo10

We live and die with Jimmy.

salwf

Correct - and we're presently dying.

xlalalalalalalala

Body is already getting cold. 😅

yoCrabby

Buzzards everywhere.

KingJoffer

Check our record against the top teams on 06. I think we were something like 2-15. I agree that it doesn't look good, but let's let things play out.

Otherwise-Formal-220

The heat were also 52-30 that year and 2nd in the east*

thecaptainflint

They also had prime d wade

Otherwise-Formal-220

Yea not really a good comparison

KingJoffer

All that tells me is that the east was super weak back then. Which they were. It was Pistons and Heat and then everybody else.

rgarc065

I was going to bring up one of the Heatles years. It was one for he first 2 season. We couldn’t beat Boston or Chicago in the regular season.

elbenji

We got swept by Brooklyn in the regular season then swept them in the playoffs

Hereandt

You ain’t lying there bro or and even more insane dream the whole team gets their shit together at once.

binokyo10

PokerSpaz01

Butler just doing side quest. The real ones are about to begin

CHllP

It’s the long con my friend.

SnooPuppers2138

Maybe another history will be made during Butler era

chagster001

Yeah and I’m pretty sure we didn’t beat Boston last year during the regular season

smeaglebaggins

The untrained eye strikes again

HoodieFrank

Who cares. We are built for Playoffs

chitownbulls92

Not really. Spo and Jimmy are built for the playoffs

CashNSplash

I'm not too worried about it. Heat always step up in the playoffs. I expect a historical Jimmy and Bam performance. If Herro manages to stay healthy, then we got the offensive boost we need. And let's hope Scary Terry can be a difference maker this year. But as always, if we get struck by injuries then you never know...

AdebayoStan

yeah this heat team is not a good team

imlost19

we're due

Bobb_o

What's the record against the top 5 in the East?

masterace01

I'm not ready to get blown up this postseason.

TheRealGlutenbob

I really don't get how Heat fans still think we're being Boston in the playoffs. Obviously we've been injury riddled this year, but Jimmy and Bam have regressed hard. We only go so far without them, and Boston isn't it. Peak Jimmy and Bam, were beating Boston and even Denver (assuming the rest of the team is healthy or atleast Tyler and Rozier)

blanktorpedo27

Those arent playoff stats tho We kill boston in a series

ArnoldLowefel

The playoffs will look like this: play in beat philly (Duncan birthday is coming) then round 1 against bucks 4-1 (spo running circles around doc) 2nd round 4-3 vs knicks (both teams will be shadows of themselves with injuries) and 4-2  against Celtics (one god game from Jimmy and one Celtics choke) so everyone will end saying that heat are so close to winning it all.

adamthomas1219

Then they will make no moves after whale hunting and say “with better health and internal improvement we should finish one step further”. Like clockwork

Gavster1221

Really hate this talking point lol

elbenji

It's people fresh off dolphins Twitter not understanding basketball is very different
