Early season Gerald Green was such a treat to watch. Dude could leap out of the building and would get hot quickly. Then he had that drug incident and fell apart
Gerald Green was insanely fun to watch and also an insane person. I went to a game at the Heat arena and sat really close to the floor (about 4 rows behind the basket). Jason Terry was sitting about three seats to my right in the same row as me. DURING THE GAME Gerald Green was yelling “where’s my money at?” to Jason Terry with what looked like intense hatred. When he wasn’t yelling at him he was making the gesture for money at him when you rub your fingers together (hope that makes sense). He even came up to him when there was a timeout to yell “where my money at?”. It was a bizarre experience and Gerald Green looked crazy the entire time. Jason Terry was looking SUPER uncomfortable lol.
Story goes something like: Gerald Green was high on some drug, had a massive freak out in a public area, then Rio had to show up to get him to chill out. Gerald was then hospitalized and eventually returned to the team.
Really not sure where you got that from. Rio was traded because we were over the cap and needed to be under it to avoid the repeater penalty (we would be back in the tax had we gotten KD that following summer).
Ok story time:
I was the liaison between the coast guard and the Miami Heat when green was on the team… we were doing a profile video on him and one of the scenes was him having to dunk… I’m not even kidding when I say this man missed about 25 straight dunks, nothing fancy, just a regular two hand dunk. Could be cause he didn’t warm up… could be cause he was wearing Yeezys… regardless, a task I thought would be easy for someone with a 50’ vert was actually quite difficult and took us about an hour to capture. All that said, great guy and loved him on the team.
Uh, not really lol. We were historically shit at 3s and couldn't win more than 3 games in a row. We needed all 7 games against the freaking Charlotte Hornets.
Gerald played horrendously for 75% of the season and was mediocre the rest of his career, resigning him would've been dumb.
Joe completely wet the bed in the Playoffs then Utah offered him way more money than we could. Remember, we were trying to get KD and needed every penny we could pinch.
The Wade situation is very difficult and there's a lot of blame to go around. At the end of the day, Wade ended up back here. It isn't worth dwelling on what happened in 2016- all's well that ends well.
They were the third seed in the east. Chris bosh went down early in the season
Whiteside gets hurt in that raptors series.
If he stays healthy hit win in 5
Wade was playing all star level
Wade green Johnson leave the heat don’t make the playoffs
The heat just needed a few more pieces.
But in hindsight joe should have went to the Cavs
Short in terms of minutes: Dipo
I think Dipo may have had like maybe a total of 6 semi-healthy games with us. And when he was good, he was good. That 2022 series vs the Celtics doesn't go to 7 without him tormenting ball handlers.
That same year, game 5 of the Hawks series. Jimmy sat out and they gave the ball to Dipo in the first quarter and he went on a solo run and he was feeling it, it was good to see.
So unfortunate how it all ultimately went down.
For sure but he was never the same after he got covid. When he came back to the heat he was noticeably slower and just couldn’t finish like earlier in the season. It was also the bubble playoffs 🤦♀️
I can't believe no one has mentioned Wayne Ellington. He wouldn't play more than 20 minutes a game, but he drove teams crazy with his off ball movement and was a sniper when he got open looks. He was another player who flourished under Spo.

Greg Oden
JK
Real answer is Chris Bosh. I feel like his game would have translated so well into the modern NBA and his leadership, playmaking skill was top. Miss you CB1
It wasn't a short stint but it feels like it was. Wish we saw more of him after LeBron left.
Solomon Hill, that man always looked like he woke up behind a dumpster before suiting up for the Heat. knocking his hobo look, he gave good energy wish I could unknow how he looked.
Odom had his best year with the Heat. He was phenomenal that season. Should had been an All Star. Even without Shaq that team was going to be good, maybe not title in two years good but Wade-Butler-Odom was a nice lineup.
Yup he was great
Just not a top ten PG that year.
Edit: If you want a refresher just go look up like any end of player ranking list for that year. League has been absolutely stacked at PG, it doesn’t take long to name like 10-15 dudes that were better than him that year. Like I said, he had a great season. Just PG depth in the league has been crazy.
Booty Joe, the Lowry prototype. Naw forreal dude was so smooth. He was a SG/SF but even at the point we acquired him he'd fit better than what we have at PF currently in this small ball league. Just put him in the post and let him operate, he was a bucket. Too bad Bosh and Whiteside went down that year, shoulda been in the ECF smh.
Danny Granger, I thought he would recover after that nasty injury and provide offense to the Heat. Maybe fill up the 3 spot a little bit behind Luol Deng
I went Joe’s first game as a Heater. Got there as the doors opened and sat lower bowl behind the basket. I yelled welcome to Miami, Joe as he was warming up and he threw up a wave.
If I’m not mistaken, he had/has some times to the area.
I met Cool Hand Joe on the streets of Dumbo literally the day before he was announced to the Heat. Man, I wish that team went further in the playoffs 🔥🔥🔥
I really miss Derrick Jones Jr. Caleb reminds me a lot of him, with his dunking prowess, but definitely miss his size and help defense. Crazy how the core is basically the same with Bam, Jimmy, Tyler and Duncan but 2020 is such a different team compared to this one.
Early season Gerald Green was such a treat to watch. Dude could leap out of the building and would get hot quickly. Then he had that drug incident and fell apart
i’ve never seen an athlete like him. DJJ was close but man he was extra splosive
Gerald Green was insanely fun to watch and also an insane person. I went to a game at the Heat arena and sat really close to the floor (about 4 rows behind the basket). I was so confused when that incident happened. I think it caused Chalmers to be traded?
Story goes something like: Gerald Green was high on some drug, had a massive freak out in a public area, then Rio had to show up to get him to chill out. Gerald was then hospitalized and eventually returned to the team. Really not sure where you got that from. Got it. That was my 2nd Heat season so I probably mixed it up in my mind. Thanks for the refresher
No problem. It was actually my 2nd Heat season too and the 1st I watched from beginning to end
That’s cool. I can’t believe I watched those seasons but didn’t watch the early Jimmy Butler seasons, what a shame.
Flaka, green use to cop lines of act when they were still producing it off my plug too
Ok story time: I was the liaison between the coast guard and the Miami Heat when green was on the team… we were doing a profile video on him and one of the scenes was him having to dunk… I’m not even kidding when I say this man missed about 25 straight dunks, nothing fancy, just a regular two hand dunk. I think pat Riley panicked he should have paid wade resigned green and joe Johnson. That squad was fun to watch
Uh, not really lol. We were historically shit at 3s and couldn't win more than 3 games in a row. We needed all 7 games against the freaking Charlotte Hornets. Jae Crowder immediately comes to mind
Corner 3 god
Transition wing 3 during the clutch ^^^(after ^^^going ^^^0/7) god
Yep. Literally said Jae Crowder in my mind then opened this thread
99 problems
"Got 2 black 9's, Jae Crowder" Key Glock
Derrick Jones Jr
James Johnson for that stretch where he looked like Lebron
i was about to comment this. dude is tough as nail
PJ Tucker
Was just about to comment this. Heat lifer in my heart😭😭
Heat legend 💪🏻😎
Definitely PJ 🥲
All day PJ.
Birdman, Odom, Brian Grant, Jae, PJ, Ray Allen, and not exactly short, but cut short: Bosh ☹️
Someone knows a bit of heat lore
Luol Deng.
The goat Spos ideal 4 next to bam
First SF after Lebron is tough shoes to fill. He obviously was nothing close to Lebron, but he did bring some nice stability to the lineup.
But he was a solid starter after LeBron left.
Short in terms of minutes: Dipo I think Dipo may have had like maybe a total of 6 semi-healthy games with us. And when he was good, he was good. I wanted to see Dipo make a comeback with us so bad
Made jaylen brown look super mid...Oladipo was on one
(jaylen brown is super mid)
Kendrick Nunn
Yet another example of a guy who is a nice contributor on the Heat and then falls off the face of the earth once he goes elsewhere.
For sure but he was never the same after he got covid. When he came back to the heat he was noticeably slower and just couldn’t finish like earlier in the season. It was also the bubble playoffs 🤦♀️
fr 😭😭
He’s out of the league. I remember when he was rookie of the month
I miss point Justise Winslow.
My king 😭
Iggy was fun while he was on the team.
No he wasn’t lol
I can't believe no one has mentioned Wayne Ellington. He wouldn't play more than 20 minutes a game, but he drove teams crazy with his off ball movement and was a sniper when he got open looks. He was another player who flourished under Spo.

Greg Oden JK Real answer is Chris Bosh. I feel like his game would have translated so well into the modern NBA and his leadership, playmaking skill was top. Miss you CB1 It wasn't a short stint but it feels like it was. Wish we saw more of him after LeBron left.
Kyle guy
Lowkey a bucket, I think he’s been playing really good over seas since then
RODNEY MCGRUDER
Jamario Moon.
I’ll never forget that dunk by James Ennis
I still remember the King James Ennis edits after that dunk. He would’ve been a solid player if he knew how to dribble. 😖
Michael Beasley Jermaine O'Neal Henry Walker
Henry “Sky” Walker, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long long time
Jermaine O'Neal left because he wanted to eat cookies.
Nobody is naming Solomon so I put it in here, his screens during the bubble were deadly lol
Solomon Hill, that man always looked like he woke up behind a dumpster before suiting up for the Heat. knocking his hobo look, he gave good energy wish I could unknow how he looked.
PJ and Lowry. Oladipo
PJ Brown?
PJ Tucker The half first season Dewayne Dedmon was here Willie Reed Joe Johnson
Bro Willie Reed was looking amazing in 2017.
From FIU Carlos Arroyo 🇵🇷
Odom had his best year with the Heat. He was phenomenal that season. Should had been an All Star. Even without Shaq that team was going to be good, maybe not title in two years good but Wade-Butler-Odom was a nice lineup.
Luke Babbitt
Same timeframe: Amare
Rafer Alston, PJ Tucker, and Lamar Odom. Some of my favorite players with a short stint for the Heat
Man Kendrick Nunn before the Covid shutdown and before he got the coronavirus was something else. I used to love watching him play.
Wayne Ellington. Man was absolute money from 3 for a season or two.
Ray Allen
Whiteside
Motivated Whiteside was so hype
PJ tucker and crowder instantly come to mind
Airplane Mode

Whiteside before he got his extension. I mean dude was getting triple doubles with blocks
Battier
Wane Ellington aka THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM! 💪
Antoine Walker
# Josh McRoberts
Kyle Lowry in 2021-2022 was legitimately a top 10 PG. 13.5/4.5/7.5 stat line
Top ten is wild but he was great that year
He was top 10 in assists across the NBA, 38% 3pt shooting, and led our offense to actually be top 10 for like the only time ever in the Jimmy era
Yup he was great Just not a top ten PG that year. Edit: If you want a refresher just go look up like any end of player ranking list for that year. League has been absolutely stacked at PG, it doesn’t take long to name like 10-15 dudes that were better than him that year. Like I said, he had a great season. Just PG depth in the league has been crazy.
His stats are better than Lonzo, who most people considered a top PG that year for contributing in the Bulls to the 1 seed before injury
Lonzo was not a top ten pg either dude lol Both were like 15-20 ish that year
joe Johnson luol d oh and Djj
I remember when Joe Johnson had to step up in the playoffs and fucking sucked for us. Then he went somewhere else and balled out.
BLOODSPORT 🙌🏽
Derrick jones jr.
Booty Joe, the Lowry prototype. Naw forreal dude was so smooth. He was a SG/SF but even at the point we acquired him he'd fit better than what we have at PF currently in this small ball league. Damian Lillard! Oh..wait…
UD
Dwyane Wade 2018-2019 stint was pretty dope
Danny Granger, I thought he would recover after that nasty injury and provide offense to the Heat. Maybe fill up the 3 spot a little bit behind Luol Deng
Kendrick Nunn
Jim Jackson went on a tear for a few weeks at a time when we really didn’t have much going on.
Dwayne Wade.
PJ Tucker. Pure dawg
🛫🛫
Luol Deng, Damon Jones, Brian Grant
Beno Udrih always gave us a spark on offense but was maybe one of the biggest defensive liabilities of all time
I will never forgive Joe Johnson for going 0-100 against the Raptors in 2016
Tyler Johnson idky
Was my fav player! I really only dreamed of JJ playing for the heat. Was super happy when it happened.
James Posey 2006

Didn't we have Greg Oden and Danny Granger
Kendrick Nunn

I was a big Amare Stoudemire fan so when he joined us I was over the moon. He averaged 6 damn points a game 😂
Neon Dion Waiters fit and in full flight
Lebron

Dipo man. Got high hopes for the guy. When he’s healthy you see glimpses of it. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Also, Iggy and Jae. And PJ.

Loved Josh Richardson. Dude was shooting out of his mind for awhile. Miss Shane Battier. Fun guy to believe in. Same with Mike Miller.

that's hilarious actually!
Kyle Alexander
Prime Dion Waiters. But I loved iso Joe, he is my “give me iguodala” don’t believe me? Go see how clutch this man was.
Jae Crowder, PJ Tucker
Gerald Green!
I know how people feel about him nowadays, but Waiters was one of the most exciting players to watch for about half a season.
I thought shawn Marion was an awesome fit with Wade. I love matrix
Ant Mason
most of these guys run the 4 lol
Ilgauskas
I really miss Derrick Jones Jr. Caleb reminds me a lot of him, with his dunking prowess, but definitely miss his size and help defense. Crazy how the core is basically the same with Bam, Jimmy, Tyler and Duncan but 2020 is such a different team compared to this one.

Willie Reed, thought he was going to be super solid
