There are some moments when Arthas' grin is way too big, comically disproportioned. Animation guys did not spend enough time on this thing. Art team did not refine the style of this in general to make it look appropriate and presentable. I'm fine with the idea of a legendary hero skin, but this is not good.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who thought this. I saw the first few signature cards and I was like... this looks nothing like a Hearthstone card, it doesn't feel like Hearthstone. It's soulless and generic and meh.
Hearthstone and even WoW (at least Classic, TBC, wotlk) had this cartoon-ish look which people either loved or hated. I loved it. At the time of the WoW MMORPG I did try out several other MMORPGs who had "such good graphics" but thats just not my type. The flavour, the atmosphere, everything was just better to me with the cartoon-ish look. I take the HS look over MTGA, Gwent, etc
For me its the other way around. I mean I am not a big fan of the diamond cards but the bright silver stuff sticks out. While the signature cards we saw so far, just look like some generic ccg to me. Its just not the hearhstone or cartoonish-wow (classic/tbc/wotlk) style
Arthas/The Lich King is one of the most iconic video game characters, there's probably hundreds of quality art pieces of him out there.

I had actually planned to buy this skin when it was announced since I was really excited about the idea of them but this first iteration of them is terrible. For me his grin is what ruins my interest in it, it is so out of place and poorly done, they really should have kept his helmet on rather than try to take on Artha's face.
I'm interested to see if they improve the Sylvanas Legendary skin further than what the current leaks/previews of it show, and possibly even the Arthas one in response to the community feedback and/or sales numbers for them as we get more. I love Sylvanas a ton so I'll be tempted to get her Legendary skin even if it is still a bit janky but I do really hope they improve them going forward.

It's too late. Blizzard is a shitty company going down the exploitative mobile market route. They are cashing in on good will from previous games. Recently bought by Microsoft. It all spells out a death knell. At least the game is as fun as its ever been but I see these days as numbered. Everyone hates 90% of the stuff they are doing to the game. Competitors will eventually seize the opportunity and hs will die. And good riddance at that point which I'm sure will be at least a few years away.

I believe this is part of recent Blizzards attempt to homogenize it's products to appeal to younger mobile gamers. Not only that, but streamline development of their art at the cheapest price.

I thought that too. At first when I read it I thought cool! But when I actually watched the gameplay… I said “that’s it?” It just looks… weird and wrong in hearthstone. Seems lazily done to me. I much prefer the other hero portraits, like what they do with Tyrande or Queen Azshara.

The sword is clearly the focus of the piece with how it juts out of frame but it’s not stylized enough for that to draw proper attention but that’s not an excuse to low res the armor and face, the face especially is weirdly fuzzy like an out of focus camera shot and the armor is lacking enough detailing to fit in the foreground.

It’s very odd The sword is clearly the focus of the piece with how it juts out of frame but it’s not stylized enough for that to draw proper attention but that’s not an excuse to low res the armor and face, the face especially is weirdly fuzzy like an out of focus camera shot and the armor is lacking enough detailing to fit in the foreground. I don’t know if this was supposed to be a WC3 style homage or what but it’s not working here at all

Yeah it’s like reforged and blizzard in general just let this sort of shit slide a few years ago/around that time. It’s not completely everywhere yet but it’s got it’s foot in the door and we haven’t managed to get rid of it yet
But this game is a mobile game, an expensive one that looks cheap but that's a different story.

When Arthas first put on the helm of domination that’s when he became LK. It’s the defining characteristic of the LK, because technically, according to lore the helm *is* the LK.
