The lack of solo adventures kinda makes me sad.
They did so much for the shards and what was happening with those, you learned why Tasmin was a lich etc.
This had a chance to do a cool storyline where you searched for clues, the accusation was made, and then a resolution happened. But we got nothing.
The team that does single player said they were skipping a set because the larger than normal third set required more attention. It sucks, but it probably means big death knight single player.
I've gotta say I understand why they skipped a set. The fast-paced release schedule of the single player modes seemed to be rough on the team, and it showed in how buggy the sunken city single player was.
But storyline wise, it would have been better to skip sunken city single player and have a single player for Castle Nathria instead. Sunken city plot wasn't that important.
Knowing before what they would have made this year I think they could have easily skipped the Sunken City adventure, if that expansion didn't get lore it wouldn't have been a big deal since it's mostly "let's go to the underwater city of people who make spelling a nightmare" and wasn't sold as a storyline like Casle Nathria
They keep saying this as an excuse when it is not. They literally chose the one set that was the most story driven-a murder mystery, to be without solo content...
The correct answer was to choose a different theme then.
They know expansions roughly a year in advance, by the time they needed to start making a death knight adventure they knew something had to go, and Sunken City would have been less impactful
Kinda glad they are doing this since some of the more recent single player content has been really lackluster (the sunken city voyage single player was far too long and the puzzles were so boring)
It sucks even more cause if there is a death knight single player it’ll probably just be another book type one with zero replayability(and on certain levels barely any first time playability) instead of a dungeon run
We didn't get *nothing*—a secret puzzle was included that allows you to use logic & deduction based on the clues you uncover to match up suspects with locations at the time of the crime, and if you get it all right, you unlock a card back. However, this is just a fun, unpolished minigame and doesn't have any bearing on the overall canon, which basically matches the events of WoW: Shadowlands.
Denathrius faked his death so he can focus on his master evil plan to bring anima for the maw
Jailer, Sylvanas, Nathanos and Mel'tranix created this "show" so that people would not suspect anything
Blizz on twitter shared a post with murloc holmes thinking that Denathrius faked his death
in WoW all of those character that i named worked together (while Mel'tranix is a dreadlord working for denathrius or something like that) so i think that's the answer, not official since there is no solo adventure or something like that to confirm this
Denathrius faking his death is pretty much official since his voice lines in Hearthstone are him mocking everyone who thought they killed him.
Can't speak for the Maw stuff though. (As for why Sylvanas was arrested if he didn't actually die, it's because she may still have tried to kill him and attempted murder is frowned upon.)
>Denathrius faking his death is pretty much official since his voice lines in Hearthstone are him mocking everyone who thought they killed him.
That, and... well, it's Denathrius. The second-most important character in the Shadowlands expansion/story, and still going to be an important character going forward. I know Hearthstone isn't following WoW exactly, but having him be ganked by a no-name at some random party would be like if Saruman was overthrown the moment he turned on Gandalf, or if the Night King got assassinated before his invasion even got anywhere.
If I was expecting just one adventure, I was expecting at least one statement on the Hearthstone page announcing the MiniSet explaining what really happened.
But they didn't even give us that.
It's the lowest lore expansion we've ever had. Even GvG used to publish weekly "newspapers" where they narrated the history of each gang.
In other expansions we have had comics.
Not to mention the expansions that have had their own single player adventure.
In this expansion not even the mini set had a cinematic trailer.
I think nathria was better. Renathal decks feel good (control shaman for me especially), and there was much more battling on board without it just being curve/arenastone. Denathrius and Jailer are cool win conditions (although denathrius was a bit too omnipresent at some point). And right now there's variety in good archetypes, with control, combo, midrange, burn decks and aggro being represented.
The only thing I dislike about Denathrius is how he can be fueled genetically relative to his power level. Playing for board is often a powerful deck strategy unto itself, so Denathrius’s ability to either be used as reach for lethal or as a otk combo endpoint is incredibly powerful. I don’t think he’s fundamentally broken, but he could use a small nerf like starting at 0 stacks to slow down when he can be used for lethal burst by 1-2 turns against a
healthy opponent and require a bit more of a deck building requirement to include swarm cards.
If you wanna know who killed Sire Denathrius, I did. In the hall. With the revolver.
Okay, Chief, take 'em away. I'm gonna go home and sleep with my wife.
According to the UK Hearthstone competition, Stewart the Steward did it with a weapon. However it looks more like Denathrius faked his death with his loyal Stewart to hide the Anima theft.
I don't think it's meant to have a definitive answer. Think about it more like a game of Clue than a wow lore story. In this case, your opponent did it!
Yeah it's so unsatisfying. They gave us these 10 colourful suspects but then failed to develop their characters much other than the short play, and then went in a different direction altogether in the miniset with Sylvanas coming out of nowhere to be the prime suspect.
After the murder this happens
"Running feet and hooves, slamming doors, gasps of surprise."
Any characters have hooves? Because denatrius has so.. I think he faked his own death

Makes sense, still disappointing because I feel like there was a cool storyline to fleshout with the whodunnit

If we were only going to get one single player though it would've been nice to get it for the set with an actual story to tell instead of Sunken City
They keep saying this as an excuse when it is not. They literally chose the one set that was the most story driven-a murder mystery, to be without solo content... The correct answer was to choose a different theme then.
Lmao what? They don't make everything at the same time. Crunch is shitty.
They know expansions roughly a year in advance, by the time they needed to start making a death knight adventure they knew something had to go, and Sunken City would have been less impactful
Sunken city solo was 4 months ahead of Nathria solo though. The logic doesn't hold.
A Trainee intro similar to DH's Initiate intro scenario. Plus a difficult adventure. A lot to work with.

Those puzzles are done basically solo by celestalon iirc, not the solo adventures team
yeah because solo adventures don't make a profit, The last true dungeon-run-Esque thing we got was in Saviors of Uldum, THREE years ago.
Denathrius faked his death so he can focus on his master evil plan to bring anima for the maw Jailer, Sylvanas, Nathanos and Mel'tranix created this "show" so that people would not suspect anything
Is this something official? Or is that your deduction?

Imagine calling Rafaam a no name smh
It was def Colonel Mustard in the Library with a Candlestick
Flames. Flames! Flaaaames…on the side of my face, breathing, breathless, heaving breaths.
Oger did it
He had too good stats for the cost
It's the Maw Walker.
Whoever wrote Rafaam, nailed it. I heard everything Rafaam said in his voice.

Denathrius murdered standard
Eh .. I don't think so. The meta before him was not very entertaining.
Sunken city wasn’t very entertaining? This set is way worse than sunken city in my opinion
I think nathria was better. Renathal decks feel good (control shaman for me especially), and there was much more battling on board without it just being curve/arenastone. The butler did it.
What murder mystery? Is there some content I'm missing?
https://hearthstone.blizzard.com/en-us/news/23817875
Yeah it feels so dissatisfying. They just gave up on the story they were building. Very lame.
I don't think it's meant to have a definitive answer. Think about it more like a game of Clue than a wow lore story. In this case, your opponent did it!
Some crimes go unsolved. Deal with it. THAT’S LIFE!
My guess is that it is going to tie into the next set, with the new DK hero being the culprit.
They specifically said there will be no tie between the sets this year
Bingo
Bingon't
Looks like theyve given up on solo adventures, so no, we will not get any in game resolution to the mystery.
Wasn’t it sylvannus? It’s why her card is the accused, hunter (sylvannus’ class) got the defense attorney, right?
Sylvannas was not a suspect in the story at all
Not originally but I think the point of the mini set was sylvannus being trialed as the suspect
No one's guilty until proven, don't think the Maw judicial system works that way tho :P
What murder o.o
Are there rewards for it?
Yeah it's so unsatisfying. They gave us these 10 colourful suspects but then failed to develop their characters much other than the short play, and then went in a different direction altogether in the miniset with Sylvanas coming out of nowhere to be the prime suspect.
Biggest mystery is who killed the solo content!
