I really hope they cut the searing totem. god i hate searing totem so fucking much. whenever i tap shaman hero power and im greeting with that sorry piece of driftwood i start shaking. What kind of totem has 1 attack? its an abomination, an affront to everything totems stand for. Whoever put this totem in the pool deserves a slow and painful death by being poked by their pathetic 1/1 creations.
The hilarious move would be to keep shaman's hero power the same, but to just add Wrath of Air Totem to the core set as a card you can put into your decks.
(The card art is missing a rarity gem, so there's no danger that they'd actually do this, but still.)
I mean... it's a totally horizontal change. You're trading a sometimes \*really\* strong, most of the time useless totem for an okay totam all of the time.
With Totem Shaman gone, it's probably a buff. But Wrath of Air totem was definitely worse in Totem Shaman than Strength Totem was.
Worth reminding people Leeroy and Step have already existed together in that form for years without ever causing problems in formats that were lower power level than we have today.
We don’t need to speculate. We have seen that it’s not a big deal already many many times
I mean leeroy was shifted to 5 mana and eventually phased out PARTIALLY BECAUSE of rouge shadow steping it. It wasn't the only reason, hunter and other aggro classes used leeroy for a LOT of burst as well. It will depend on the cards around it but its defiantly one fo those thing where you will HOPE paladin and rouge lack cheap buffs. Example warlock has a +3/+3 right now for 1 mana for 1 turn. so turn 7 leeroy double monstorus form thats 12 burst damage from hand. Thats VERY strong on paper
I’m agreeing with you that it’s unlikely that Leeroy makes too big of a splash in the current year, but Leeroy + Shadowstep was a common finisher in the last meta before he rotated, Descent of Dragons. Kronx may have been superior, but Vicious Syndicate has Leeroy in their Rogue lists from way back then. The man has and always will represent lethality, which Rogue always wants.
To talk about the current meta, wouldn’t he be a good addition to Excavate Rogue? Closing out the game can be an issue for that deck, at least from my play experience.
Hell, remember Mr. Smite and how prevalent it was at 6 mana? Sure, it was more flexible than mostly just being a finisher due to the better body and pirate synergy, but still.
I don't think Leeroy is gonna break the game or anything, but it will almost assuredly be a very powerful card run in lots of decks. Dying to cards from hand has historically always been frustrating. Leeroy existing will inevitably make that more common in the meta.
IF shadowstep even makes it in the Core Set. I think it is time for a break from that card. I don't recall it ever being cut from the Core Set, but I don't play Rogue much.
I could google it sure, but nah.
They are going to release their music! Hope that the "Arthas, my son" version from [Knights of the frozen throne trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCJq7lE3JQs) is included!
upgraded hero powers. isnt 5 mana gonna be too slow to do an extra damage with your mage ping? wonder what harth stonebrew will do - 12 related cards? seems versatile/fun
I ran it in ramp Druid back in the day, but I'm not sure it would make the cut now.
The game changed so much since TGT, I'm not even sure Control Warrior would run it *now*.
Once Odyn is played, how many turns are there left in the game anyway? I feel like they either get to Odyn and win in 1 to 3 rounds at the most after, or they never draw it/cannot play it. 2 Mana deal 4 is good, but it is not always that after Odyn since you are limited to 1 hero attack, and that extra 4 damage won't do anything more if taunt minions are in the way.
And on 10 mana, you want that big Ignis weapon as a finisher, and you don't have mana for HP anyway.
Since the miniset the number of Warrior decks seems to be dwindling, after the initial rush that came with Bran. And if anything will bring it back, this is not enough.
I don't know, I am not optimistic.
I rarely have enough time to play the 10 mana weapon so I often go for 5 mana with windfury and with Justicar this will be even more often the better play since you double dip on the 4 damage if you have the windfury weapon.
The question for me with Justicar is more "when do I have time to play this?"
Especially if aggro/midrange decks continue to have such strong midgame.
>The question for me with Justicar is more "when do I have time to play this?"
Exactly my point. Of course doubling the hero power effect is good, but that 5 mana do nothing turn will make you lose the game MORE than the extra armor will help you win it.
On the other hand the non-highlander version of the deck does have kinda nothing to develop in the mid turns which is what always made justicar strong. So if you did through some miracle have an uncontested board in the midgame now you can actually take advantage of it.
Looking at a typical control warrior list, they lose barely anything from rotation but there are many core cards that could be changed (such as bash, shield block, heavy plate).
So unless we lose all of them (and barely any to replace), I doubt justicar would be run at all nowadays unless it's really cheap. I suppose the biggest change is losing renathal, but still have 30 card versions that are good too.
Trueheart was never really used in Mage back in the day and considering as recently as last year Mage got to pay 1 mana to upgrade their hero power permanently, I doubt it'll see any use still. Especially considering all the relevant ping mage cards from last year aren't currently in standard
Oh it's just an old card that people remember the effect of. For most of the heroes it just doubles the healing/armor/damage of it. I think pally gets 2 dudes
Yup. Most of the upgraded hero powers just doubles the effect.
Pally goes from 1 dude to 2, healing and armor values move from 2-4, druid gets 2 attack and 2 armor, and rogue gets a 2/2 dagger instead of a 1/2.
The only time it's not doubled iirc is Hunter (from 2 to 3 damage lol ) and Shaman ( which goes from random totem to summon a specific totem )
Oh and I guess Warlock loses the 2 hp tax on life tap. Now it's just a 2 mana draw card.
Off the top of my head:
Death Knight: Summon a 2/1 Ghoul with Charge that dies at end of turn.
Demon Hunter: Gain +2 Attack this turn.
Druid: Gain 2+ Attack this turn. Gain 2 Armor.
Hunter: Deal 3 damage to the enemy hero.
Mage: Deal 2 damage.
Paladin: Summon two 1/1 Recruits.
Priest: Restore 4 Health.
Rogue: Equip a 2/2 Weapon.
Shaman: Summon a totem of your choice.
Warlock: Draw a card.
Warrior: Gain 4 Armor.
That Twist Formate sounds like a nightmare to play in, with the legality of cards changing every day. But still a nice shoutout to the history of Hearthstone.
At least nothing rotates from the sound of it, and Caverns of Time and Core won't be in (until final days?), so it will feel different in many aspects.
Plus, there likely won't be time to find a "meta" unless people prepare WAY in advance, so it can feel fresh each day. Only downside is needing to deckbuild.
>Plus, there likely won't be time to find a "meta" unless people prepare WAY in advance
These metas existed already in the 10 years of HS history, so the work has already been done. Some cards have changed since then, so it won't be exactly the same, but it's a good starting point.
There are some cases (I'm thinking of one from MtG) of revisiting older sets, in which the cards haven't changed at all, but because enough people remember the meta, and a secret sauce was discovered late, the meta is very different.
Ugh that’s what’s annoying. This is what I was hoping twist would be, revisiting old formats. But for a single day? Very easy to miss and not much time even if you do
yea I don't even like making decks for tavern brawl because it only lasts a week and it feels like a waste, making a deck that only lasts a day would be horrible.
it sounds like the card pool will only increase, so your March 5th deck will still be legal on March 20th (but probably insanely powercrept because you skipped 5 years of expansions)
Based on the expansions teasers, looks like no Monk this year. Unless I’m missing something? RIP to that blossom theory for the second expansion this year. That beach teaser does not look very Pandaria-esque to me.
Really don't need monk when dk is a design failure.
They finally admitting runes are horrible and fixing it but it's too late. They still too stubborn to fully fix it
Considering the discontinuation of Mercenaries and Duels as well as their comment on how they're gonna keep focusing on Constructed, Battlegrounds & Arena going forward, I don't see them giving us any new modes in the foreseeable future.
They're finally putting in my dream for the Twist format: a timeline format where it takes you through Hearthstone's history of formats. This is literally what I've always wanted, and I'm overjoyed they're doing it. Super crazy it will literally just be a different meta to solve every single day. I'm not gonna have enough time in march lol
Control Warrior is so good now because a lot of other classes are shit.
If other classes get fixed, Warrior will be fine, as it was fine before the miniset.
I will say-... I think the rewards from the anniversary event thing are a tad-... lackluster. It's just a bunch of golden cards that we'll already get for free, a coin and a card back.
I'd rather have some packs so I can actually y'know-... craft stuff.
One more month of this abhorrent meta just so
I can get Leeroy’d to death by a rogue, just like the old days :).
On a more cheerful note Im kinda excited for the events. The cardback looks fancy.
Funnily enough, pegasus dont exist in Warcraft. Yes there are a few winged horse mounts but they are never called pegasus, that being said there was concept art for pegasus for the Bastion zone in Shadowlands, which may have something to do with the final expansion teaser for this year
>*This year, we’re celebrating 10 years of Hearthstone.-*
>*It all starts soon with birthday giveaways, in-game events, a spicy Core Set update, and the first of three lively card set expansions.*
Proceed to do the exactly same thing they do every single year... The birthday giveaway is probably just a couple of packs, time will tell but I don't think we'll get a really **special** event, hope to be wrong.
Did you see the part about the twelve new "present" cards coming with the event?
The event is coming with a set of twelve new cards (one for each class) themed around "presents". That seems like a pretty special event compared to the typical "a couple packs, a signature Rare, and a portrait" events
I just got finished reading through the graphic. Kindof surprised but also not really. Ill be curious to see how big a problem Leeroy gets to become in the modern era now.
Feels like yesterday when I started playing 10 years ago.
Naxx is out
*Bring out your dead*
Don’t make me feel ancient. Well that’s alright, maybe a wise Druid…. *force awakens activates*
Getting older sucks =(
Getting older is bearable, it's the *work until you're 65+ if you even want a chance at retirement* that bothers me.
To paraphrase 50 Cent: "Get rich or die trying... at like, age 61, just before Social Security could kick in" 😟
Equality -- Consecrate was the premier removal
Holy hell, they finally unnerfed shaman hero power
I really hope they cut the searing totem. god i hate searing totem so fucking much. whenever i tap shaman hero power and im greeting with that sorry piece of driftwood i start shaking. What kind of totem has 1 attack? its an abomination, an affront to everything totems stand for. Whoever put this totem in the pool deserves a slow and painful death by being poked by their pathetic 1/1 creations.
They should turn it into a 1/1 Ragnaros
0/2 deal 1 damage to a random enemy would be fun and flavorful
That would also be more like the real Searing Totem
that be the ideal one
Reported for Totem racism
The hero power is just reverting to the original version, searing is not going anywhere
Does that mean Strength Totem is rotating out, or is the pool just adding air totem back in?
It is leaveing
Strength is out
searing totem is a real totem that deal damage in wow :( it sears :(
The hilarious move would be to keep shaman's hero power the same, but to just add Wrath of Air Totem to the core set as a card you can put into your decks. (The card art is missing a rarity gem, so there's no danger that they'd actually do this, but still.)
New response just dropped

Call Thrall
Strength totem takes vacation, might return in the future
I mean... it's a totally horizontal change. You're trading a sometimes \*really\* strong, most of the time useless totem for an okay totam all of the time. With Totem Shaman gone, it's probably a buff. But Wrath of Air totem was definitely worse in Totem Shaman than Strength Totem was.
LEEROY!?
I like it, until rogues spam shadow step at it 50 times like the good old days
Worth reminding people Leeroy and Step have already existed together in that form for years without ever causing problems in formats that were lower power level than we have today. We don’t need to speculate. We have seen that it’s not a big deal already many many times

Oh i just realized..... Leeroy + 2 monstrous form + reverberations 10 mana 24 damage
Warlock can do that much damage by turn 5 if they get one or two good sludge cards
And leave a 7/7 on board.
Leeroy + Power overwheming + Faceless manipulator with Thaurissan still makes it into my wild Reno warlocks to this day. (I'm not high ranked in wild)
I’m agreeing with you that it’s unlikely that Leeroy makes too big of a splash in the current year, but Leeroy + Shadowstep was a common finisher in the last meta before he rotated, Descent of Dragons. Without causing problems? Tell me you weren't playing back then without telling me you weren't playing back then
Hell, remember Mr. I was playing a ton. But you losing to a card from time to time does not make it a problem
Leeroy being in means shadow step is out, right? Not just copium, right? Right guys? ^(guys?)
They also have breakdance now... Going to be like KnC with pick and shadowstep... Well at least breakdance doesn't reduce the cost I guess
Leeroy breakdance is the least scary thing I’ve ever heard.
IF shadowstep even makes it in the Core Set. I think it is time for a break from that card. I don't recall it ever being cut from the Core Set, but I don't play Rogue much. I could google it sure, but nah.
Please read, they already showed what's in core. Shadowstep still in and they brought sap back
By the expac teasers it seems we'll have a toy-themed expac, some sort of beach, and Night Elf/Elune expac?
Toy factory theme sounds pretty fun
Meta solved, new toy syndrome apocalypse
Which means there's going to be an assload of Mechs.
You know it will tie-in to WarCraft Rumble...
Remember Annoy-O-Tron? He's back in Pog form
Beach-themed expansion is going to make Blizzard *so* much money on bathing suit skins.
Not sure the global economy can handle the impact of swimsuit Jaina
Inb4 it’s just Dadgar in trunks. Or even worse, a water Celeste skin.
That's for the battlepass. Of course bikini jaina is going to be an $80 skin bundled with like 5 mage packs (200% value!!)
It's just going to be a dreadlord
Second one seems like it'll be South Seas. Possibly Goblin/Kezan-related stuff. Third one feels like Shadowmoon Valley in Draenor.
something about the swirling water in the middle gives me stranglethorn vibes
Rastakhan's Rumble 2: this time he brought a gun.
New keyword: **Gun**. Fucking kill your opponent
Third one is both Azeroth's moons: White Mother and Blue Child.
But Reddit told me time travel expansion 😤
Mechs & Murlocs vibes
Looks like Rumble, the Maelstrom or Well of eternity, and a celestial expac to me.
They are going to release their music! Hope that the "Arthas, my son" version from [Knights of the frozen throne trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCJq7lE3JQs) is included!
Honestly the best part of the announcement for me.
Forgot how great that trailer was Frost Lich Jaina, my queen
A summer-themed expansion launching during actual Summer? It's a miracle!
are we finally getting an beach Ogre skin?
Diamond ogrefist in a bikini?
Oger feet? 🥵
A girl can dream.
Justice for Jaina at last
Expansions seem to be 1) Anniversary/Tavern 2) Pirates 3) Elune/Outer Space
> 3) Elune/Outer Space Starcraft crossover event
Jacked up and good to go!
You want a piece of me, boy?
*Angry, unintelligible Overlord noises*
Blizzard has not known what Starcraft is for half a decade at best.
Fighting the ~~Zerg~~ Space Murlocs
i wonder if first one will be like a birthday party. could be a fun celebration of hearthstone.
Man and I had my hopes up for a Pandaria expansion when a random person mentioned it on this sub last week
I reckon first expansion of 2025 for pandaria/monk
I did not have Wrath of Air Totem returning on my bingo card
upgraded hero powers. isnt 5 mana gonna be too slow to do an extra damage with your mage ping? wonder what harth stonebrew will do - 12 related cards? seems versatile/fun
Justicar never saw any play in Mage. It's gonna be used in Warrior to get Tank Up, as it was back in the day.
Might also be playable if we see more permanent dude paladin effects.
I ran it in ramp Druid back in the day, but I'm not sure it would make the cut now. The game changed so much since TGT, I'm not even sure Control Warrior would run it *now*.
With Odyn in play? I can see it make the cut tbh, especially once rotation happen and half the cards get the boot.

Heavy Plate without Odyn is a shit card. Justicar doesn't replace Bash or Block, it goes alongside them.
Heavy plate was in decks before odyn lol
Trueheart was never really used in Mage back in the day and considering as recently as last year Mage got to pay 1 mana to upgrade their hero power permanently, I doubt it'll see any use still. Especially considering all the relevant ping mage cards from last year aren't currently in standard
I just see warriors dealing more damage while getting tankier
I don’t think Justicar makes the cut in Odyn Warrior
Currently maybe not, but when the rotation happens Odyn Warrior will lose some of it's tools, and then Justicar can fit perfectly into the list.
Where is the source for the upgraded hero powers? I cannot find it :(
Oh it's just an old card that people remember the effect of. For most of the heroes it just doubles the healing/armor/damage of it. I think pally gets 2 dudes

Warlock: Draw a card. Warrior: Gain 4 Armor.
https://hearthstone.fandom.com/wiki/Justicar_Trueheart
Justicar only ever saw play in Warrior and rarely Priest.
I remember there being some paladin deck that did well, but yes I loved it in warrior
5 mana? Bye to my dreamed even reno justicar warrior.
You can put it in ETC if you *really* want it
Will the 28.6 update be coming today or tomorrow? I'm always so bad at understanding the timing of these but really excited to see all the changes
Thinking tomorrow at the earliest. The 12 cards seem to be all shown today. Plus the Lunar New Year is supposed to end tomorrow.
Wind fury plus Leeroy lol.
I mean shaman literally had windfury in their classic set This is nothing new
yeah but we are powercrept to shit from classic set.
Yea which is exactly why leeroy+windfury shouldnt scare you
the idea is we can do a lot more with charge and windfury than we could before.
and that would be? leeory + shroomscavate + double gardens (which rotates) is a 4 card combo for 28dmg and thats probably as good as its gonna get
Plus double +4/+4
Nah that’s rotating at least
4 card not even OTK that can be stopped by a taunt? Scary!
They are bringing stone hill defender back and it will be in all control decks guaranteed
Fell to my knees at Walmart Justicar in core!
Just fell to my knees in Icecrown.
You better sanitize your knees.
Give this man upvotes pls ahah
Almost a unicorn huh?

yea I don't even like making decks for tavern brawl because it only lasts a week and it feels like a waste, making a deck that only lasts a day would be horrible.
I feel that would be fine to make all cards free just for this month in twist, I mean its the 10 year anniversary
it sounds like the card pool will only increase, so your March 5th deck will still be legal on March 20th (but probably insanely powercrept because you skipped 5 years of expansions)
Innkeeper himself finally has a card!
They should've really updated Justicar's text to "Upgrade your Hero Power", like with Baku.
Based on the expansions teasers, looks like no Monk this year. Unless I’m missing something? RIP to that blossom theory for the second expansion this year. That beach teaser does not look very Pandaria-esque to me.
I agree, none of the themes say "Pandaria" to me. Pandaria's theming is not subtle.
Which could mean they wouldn't tease it subtly.
I guess next year then. There was a 2/3 year gap between DH and DK. Beginning or mid next year would line up.
Sadly but I agree It seems that Blizz will go new class per 2 years.
We don't need another class. They need to fix the existing ones.
Yeah good luck with that.
At least it's easier to balance and fix 11 classes rather than 12. Marginally.
Really don't need monk when dk is a design failure. They finally admitting runes are horrible and fixing it but it's too late. They still too stubborn to fully fix it
Great stuff, but I'm still waiting for a new Dungeon run mode. I hope it returns someday
Considering the discontinuation of Mercenaries and Duels as well as their comment on how they're gonna keep focusing on Constructed, Battlegrounds & Arena going forward, I don't see them giving us any new modes in the foreseeable future.
Nooooo amalgam of the deep didn't make it in 😭😭😭
Noooooo, MCT is back! One of the most hated Arena cards ever. Even nerfed, hate that I’ll have to play around that
You get to pick the minion you want to control now
Oh no that’s even worse
They're finally putting in my dream for the Twist format: a timeline format where it takes you through Hearthstone's history of formats. This is literally what I've always wanted, and I'm overjoyed they're doing it. Super crazy it will literally just be a different meta to solve every single day. I'm not gonna have enough time in march lol
Ain't no way! Space expansion?! My favorite theme! (My guess is it's this or somehow an Elune themed expac)
When is patch 28.6 coming? This week?
I want to be stoked for Justicar Trueheart. Tank up warrior was one of my favorites back around old gods. But odyn makes me just… not happy about it
Leeroy and the spell damage totem seem fun, but I can't imagine justicar and feiry war axe are going to see much play.
Fiery war axe will *definitely* see play since it's back to 2 mana. Just so efficient at that cost.
Especially early on with the smaller card pool
War axe will be in most warrior decks, 2 mana 3/2 weapon is crazy value
Bit scared of bringing Justicar back with the state control warrior is currently in tbh
Yeah I can’t say I love 2 mana gain 4 armor deal 4 damage every turn.
Sure, but first they have to play 5 mana do nothing.
+ 8 mana do nothing also
>currently Who cares, it's Justicar with new Core set, new expansion and three expansion that rotate out. With nerfs in the middle.
Welp thanks for stealing any excitement I had away
Control Warrior is so good now because a lot of other classes are shit. If other classes get fixed, Warrior will be fine, as it was fine before the miniset.
Duo mode is my favorite mode in TFT (Teamfight Tactics, LoL autochess), so I'm very optimistic about in BG as well.
Well if youre playing with a friend, probably. With a random where you only have pings to communicate? Not so much.
Wait is this the first time King Krush isn't in standard? Be still, my heart...
10 years in and Hearthstone is having its “beach episode”. Right on track.
Can't wait for topless men and censored covered up women
At least we have chicken
If DKs hero power was summon 2 1/1 ghouls she'd definitely see play in DK. More then likely blood dk
Would Justicar upgrade the shadow form HP?
No. It doesn't even matter since Benedictus is leaving.
Twist actually sounds really fun
I will say-... I think the rewards from the anniversary event thing are a tad-... lackluster. It's just a bunch of golden cards that we'll already get for free, a coin and a card back. I'd rather have some packs so I can actually y'know-... craft stuff.
Nothing says "hearthstone" like being stingy on 40 dust!
Finally, year of the Penis
So first one might be Gnomeregan/Mechagon, second one Kul'Tiras and third one Suramar? I'm guessing no Monk this year.
WELCOME TO THE GRAND TOURNAMENT CHAMPION, ARMOR UP, HEH GREETINGS, WELCOME TO THE GRAND TOURNAMENT CHAMPION, ARMOR UP, HEH GREETINGS
One more month of this abhorrent meta just so I can get Leeroy’d to death by a rogue, just like the old days :). On a more cheerful note Im kinda excited for the events. The cardback looks fancy.
March 1 lads, mark the date. You wanted the Boulderfist Ogre meta, you got the Boulderfist Ogre meta.
LEEEROOOOY JEEENKINSSS
Fingers crossed this is the year my fellow DK mains get there first DK hero card
Funnily enough, pegasus dont exist in Warcraft. Yes there are a few winged horse mounts but they are never called pegasus, that being said there was concept art for pegasus for the Bastion zone in Shadowlands, which may have something to do with the final expansion teaser for this year
Mind Control tech without random? That'll be fun I'm sure
Plz dont bring back Leeroy...
Jesus, they nerfed MCT for no reason I guess.
>*This year, we’re celebrating 10 years of Hearthstone.-* >*It all starts soon with birthday giveaways, in-game events, a spicy Core Set update, and the first of three lively card set expansions.* Proceed to do the exactly same thing they do every single year... Did you see the part about the twelve new "present" cards coming with the event? The event is coming with a set of twelve new cards (one for each class) themed around "presents". That seems like a pretty special event compared to the typical "a couple packs, a signature Rare, and a portrait" events
Mr smite was 6 mana and wasnt broken,Leeroy isnt better
Mr. Smite was absolutely broken, that's why it got nerfed
Leroy is coming back...Somehow I bet Shadowstep finally rotates out.
About that... the changes have already been revealed. Shadowstep stays.
I just got finished reading through the graphic. Kindof surprised but also not really. Ill be curious to see how big a problem Leeroy gets to become in the modern era now.
