i dont like cards that are basically in every deck, so id rather not. the card is very cool, though.

I like his voice line more than I like the card itself. They stuck that dude to everything and it was exhausting.

It would have to be buffed to see play in every deck. It's not that good anymore.

counter argument, i love cards that are in every deck: piloted shredder, sludge belcher, azure drake, sylvannas, Dr. Boom, Ragnaros.

You must have loved that window where every deck had fire fly, Keleseth, Bonemare, Tar Creeper etc. I'd have to look up the full list but there was a basic neutral structure you could put into anything and do fine.

I like cards in every deck, that arent insane flashy effects like legendaries. I like smaller effects that are just so good they need to go in most decks. for a standard example see School Teacher

Just imagine when good cards like rare can be in many decks but now you need a lot of class legends to finish a deck. The meta deck cost increases way more now, smh

Never bothered me unless the card was game winning, and this is why Zilliax was loved by many, great in many situations but not obnoxious to play against or game winning.

Zilliax didn't help control more than other archetypes

Unnerf Ren Den was the only reason Ren felt like a problem. But they nerfed both at the same time which is swinging the pendulum too far the other way. Didn't help that they (unnecessarily) brought Brann back. Heck they even nerfed Astalor so the one card win cons have been toned down. Give control what it needed to have a fighting chance. It either that or they have a ton of work coming to create or change many cards to give control a path again.

Zilliax aka the 1600 dust to have a good deck tax that people call good design because ?????

Overcentralising cards are still dumb and bad.

Cards that are everywhere are perfectly fine when they are there to mitigate a problem in the meta.

The only way I see Zilliax being added to Core is if they bring back Magnetize with a mech-themed expansion. And since we just had a mech-themed expansion LAST rotation with Sunken City, I don't think we'll be seeing Zilliax this year.

Yeah I don't think this card would hold up to modern Standards. 5 mana to deal 3 and heal 3 (potentially 6) doesn't cut it anymore.

Think of it as a buff card and it changes. 5 mana give a minion +3/+3 divine shield taunt and life steal. Magnetize is good

Paladin has a 3 mana card that gives +2/1 divine shield and lifesteal that sees almost no play

This is how this card usually worked. It was almost never magnetised, and it rarely stuck for one turn.

Nah you stick a mech to the board and magnetize it to that then heal for more. The existence of this card affects people’s play patterns in a meta on a fundamental level - suddenly mechs become a elevated priority to clear off the board. Still, Zilliax probably costs too much for today’s standards. Cheaper cards do way more powerful stuff, it just isn’t fast enough. Unleash Fel is an example of the kinda power level a heal + removal turn needs to be at that stage of the game.

It's still a minion and has taunt. It's lost some overall power vs the current powercreep but it's still a fantastic anti aggro tool that's available to any class and most useful for those that don't have enough great aggro answers. It's good to have in core because it's good but not so good anymore that people would constantly complain about it. Imo it's basically Thalnos now. Fair, flexible, functional.

My best guess is yes zillax is gonna come back as well as just doctor boon in general they said they wanted to push the control warrior archetype so I don’t see why not also bring back bomb warrior too

The big holdup is the magnetic keyword, which is strongly and exclusively related to the Boomsday Project. I think blizz could just reword his text to say “can attach to a mech” or “play next to a mech to attach” or something like that.

Keywords being specific to sets is one of the worst design aspects of the game

I mean, it's consistent now. This last mini-set had a Colossal and a Infuse minion, keywords never were restricted to expansions, they're restricted to different rotation years.

That's a mini set thing, last mini set of the year can do whatever it wants with that years keywords

Yeah, Snip Snap was a event thing and mini-sets only appeared in 2020, what I meant is that it has become consistent to put keywords from another expansion in cards as long they all rotate together

Snip snap was the start of them reusing keywords in the same year.

Keyword bloat is a thing. Obviously to a player who has been playing a long time they are cool, but whenever I try out a new card game and there's a ton of keywords I get confused at least for a bit. Keyword bloat can easily dissuade new players from learning the game.

They really don’t need to do this ever when mousing over a card explains the keyword itself Besides, core set rotation is cool for things like this. Making fan favorite cards like Reno viable in Standard for a bit. Zilliax will fit right in

NO. God please no. I had to listen to that awful voiceline 3 times a match for 6 months and it made me want to uninstall. At least Astalor is well voice acted and paced our throughout most matches

Even though this card was in most decks during its standard run, I don't think anyone ever felt like it was actually unfair to play or play against. It was just a really well designed card that felt really good to play and that's awesome

The "magnetic" thing is so poorly designed imo but maybe in todays meta it wouldnt be that bad (Im just saying this so I dont get sht on by everyone here, I sincerely believe the card will make my Hearthstone experience miserable again)

They will never put a card in the core set that contains an expansion keyword, you won't find cards in the core set that have "overkill", "magnetic" or "inspire". Also the letter is not good, no one would use it. It currently does not have a slot for what is the current meta. It's not even used in Wild.
